Dans sa partie moyenne, le levier 50 pré sente encore un élément. en matière isolante 97 sur lequel est monté en 98 un cliquet 99 qui peut osciller vers la droite, mais non vers la. gauche en raison de la présence de la gou pille d'arrêt100. Ce cliquet petit coopérer avec le ressort de contact 101 monté au- dessus d'un autre ressort de contact 102 sur la. plaque isolante 103. Quand le levier de remontage 50 est déplacé vers la gauche, le cliquet 99 oscille sans difficulté et n'exécute pas le contact;
Device for limiting the use of a billiard table to the time corresponding to the amount paid. The present invention relates to a device for limiting the use of a billiard table to the time corresponding to the amount paid. The device can be used to prevent any game from taking place on the billiard table if first of all a certain coin, corresponding to the time during which one wants to play, has not been introduced into the device, the value of this coin which can be fixed in relation to the tariff in use at the place where the billiards is located.
'The device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises bars arranged above the plane of the billiard table and blocked in a position preventing the game, bars which are released as soon as a piece is introduced. of currency in a control mechanism for the duration of the game.
The playing time control mechanism is preferably arranged below the billiard table, so as to be completely hidden, only appearing on the outside a slot for the introduction of coins and an index which serves to adjust the mechanism in correspondence with the time during which we want to play.
In a preferred embodiment, electrical contact members are also provided, by means of which the players are notified of the imminent end of the playing period, and can prolong it without interruption by inserting another coin into the apparatus. .
The operation of the playing time control mechanism may be fully automatic, or partially automatic and manual.
One embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, by the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 shows a plan view of the positive device of which some parts are born fractions; Fig. 2 shows a side elevation, partially in section; The fib. 3 is a section taken along line III-III of FIG. ?; The fi; -. 4, 5 and 6 respectively show some details, the first two in plan and the last in vertical section; The fi-. 7 schematically shows the application of the apparatus to a billiard table.
The device shown is con: titi; é by a frame 1, preferably wooden 1, and 7) which is applied in the manner shown in fig. 7 in correspondence of one of the long sides \? of bilhird. This frame is held by a cross member 4 and fixed to said mirror and to the frame of the billiard table by means of bolts 3.
3 the outside appears only a table 5 with an element 6 for the introduction of the coins and an index 7 which has some position: determined which correspond to as much value; of coins shown on the table.
The frame 1 contains the mechanism for controlling the duration of the game, which controls an axis 8 mounted to rotate at 11 on the frame of the billiard table in correspondence to the short sides 9. At both ends of this axis 8 are fixed by means of screws. I ?, of eccentric members 11 constituted by bars each having a curved end capable of resting against a cross member 13 connected to the mo-ven of amounts 1.4 which cross the plane of the billiard table, to a bar 15 disposed above of the billiard plan.
These bars 15 can occupy two different positions: one, 15 ', shown in FIGS. ? and 3, position in which they rest on the plane of the billiard table and remain hidden, so to speak, under the line formed by the elastic part 16 of the band.
Under these conditions, the 17 ball (read beating on the tape as it is in 17 'does not manage to hit the 15' bars, because apart from the fact that these der nities are displaced outwards relative to the protruding part 1a, plu, of the element 16, it should be observed that the fulcrum of the ball on the plane of the billiard table is offset inwardly relative to the point of contact - with element 16 of a

As can be seen from fig. 4, to the different positions of the index 7 correspond as many positions of the lever 215 and, consequently, of the contact 38. As the contact 3 7 is fixed, by moving the contact 38, the distance left free between these two elements is modified by changing, therefore, the coin module 41 which is to be used to actuate the mechanism, following exactly the values which are indicated in table 5. If an attempt is made to start the apparatus with a coin. modulus less than that indicated by index 7, as the interval between the two elements 37 and 38 is greater than the diameter of the part, the latter passes without making contact and falls into the collector 42 while lying thus lost.
On the frame 1 is mounted an electromagnet 43, the core 44 of which is urged outwardly by a helical spring 45. This core 44 has a roller 46 which operates on the lever 47 pivoted at 48 on the frame 1, and its movement to the right is limited by the stop 44a (fig. 1). The lever 47 operates on the roller 49 of the winding rod 50 (Fig. 4) which has a rack 51 pre-seen to cooperate with a toothed wheel controlled by the clockwork movement 52.
The winding rod 50 is guided in the small metal blocks 53 and 54 and carries near its right end (fig. 2) a curved element 55 intended to cooperate with the roller 56 mounted at the end of the angled lever 57 pivoted. in 58 on the support 59 and biased by the spring 57a. The other end of the lever 57 has a tooth 60 pre-seen to engage as shown in the figure with the nose 61 of the lower part of the lever 62 mounted at both ends on the supports 63, and 64 (fi -. 1) arranged on the frame 1.
The lever 62 is biased towards the right by the helical spring 64 fixed on the support 59 and has a roller 66 capable of cooperating with the curved part 67 of the rod 68 fixed on the rotary axis 8 which controls the movement. bars 15 as explained previously The movement to the right of the lever 62 is regulated by the stop 69. The positions of the various members which correspond to the free play are indicated in dotted lines in the figure, while those which correspond to the prevented play are shown in solid lines.
The movement towards the. left of lever 62 is controlled by an electromagnet 70, the core 71 of which (fig. 1) is biased outwardly by the coil spring 72, in a manner similar to that which has been described for the core 44 The core 71 carries a gate 73 which comes into engagement with an arm 74 of the lever 62, so that when the electromagnet 70 is energized, said lever 62 is moved to the left.
The excitation of the electromagnet 70 is adjustable by the contact lever 75 mounted at 7 6 on the insulating support 7 7 and subjected to the action of the spring 78. The lower end of this contact lever 75 has a contact screw 79 which is connected by the conductor 80 (fig. 1) to one of the terminals 81 of the electromagnet 70. The other terminal 82 of the electromagnet is connected by the conductor 83 to one of the poles 84 of a common outlet fixed to the insulating support 36.
The right end of the winding rod 50 is bent below as shown at 88. and has a small block of insulating material by means of which it can act on the contact 85 of the contact spring 86 mounted on the insulating block 87 , so as to bring it into contact with the screw 79. This contact 85 is connected by means of the conductor 8,6 aven the other pole 87 of the socket.
It is easy to see how the rod 50 being transferred from its normal position by the clockwork movement 52, its end 88 provides contact between the elements 85 and 79 and consequently closes the excitation circuit for the electro- magnet 70 on the following route:
pole 87, conductor 86, contact 85, contact 79, conductor 80, terminal 81. coil of the electromagnet 70, terminal 82, conductor 83, pole 84. The electromagnet 70 attracts its core 71 and door lever 6 back? against the action of the spring 65 until the tooth 60 said lever .î 7 engages on the nose 61 and consequently blocks the lever 62.
The latter also has a lateral stop member 87a. which, when the lever 62 is moved towards the. left by the electromagnet 70, operates on the upper end of the lever 75 and turns it against the action of the spring 78. so that the electromagnet 70 is deprived of energy and its core 71 is worn in the outer position under the action of spring 72.
We will now see which are the organs which make it possible to adjust the duration of the game according to the coin introduced.
Referring to wires .. 4, 5, 6, it will be seen that the stepped plate 31 presents, mounted on it and guided by the element 89 and 1a. screw 90, a second stepped plate 88a which has an identical contour to that of the plate 31 which is located below and which is biased towards the right by the spring 91 .. The plate.
88a carries an integral arm 92 able to act on the lever 93 guided by the screws 94 and 95 and carrying at its left end the insulating element 96 by means of which it can move in the right direction the contact element 38 against the action of the spring 40. when the plate 88a is brought into the position indicated in the dotted lines in the fi-, 5 and 6.
When the electromagnet 43 is energized in the manner which will be described later, the winding rod 50 is moved to the left of the lever 47 to the point allowed by the tooth. of the plate 31 disposed in correspondence with the end 88 of the rod 50. As the position of the plate 31 is controlled by the index 7 with respect to the module of the introduced coin, it follows. that the magnitude of the displacement to the left of the rod 50 is adjusted correspondingly.
As a result of the connection which exists between this winding rod and the clockwork movement 52, the latter is more or less wound up and consequently the rod 50 takes more or less time to return to its extreme position. on the right, which means that the period of play conceded is greater or lesser since, as will be seen later when the rod 50 returns to its extreme right position, the bars 1.) </ B> are controlled in such a way as to prevent play.
However before the end 88 of the lever 50 in its movement towards the left meets the corresponding tooth of the plate 31, this tooth meets the plate 88n and moves it to the left by the length of which the latter projects relatively Ù, the plate 31. In this movement, the arm 92 is worn at 92 'and. as a result. moves the insulating element 96 to 96 '(fig. 5). so that the contact element 38 is rotated by an amount sufficient to drop the coin which was between this element 38 and the element 37 in the collector 42.
In its middle part, the lever 50 has one more element. in insulating material 97 on which is mounted at 98 a pawl 99 which can oscillate to the right, but not to the. left due to the presence of the stop pin 100. This small pawl cooperate with the contact spring 101 mounted above another contact spring 102 on the. insulating plate 103. When the winding lever 50 is moved to the left, the pawl 99 oscillates without difficulty and does not make contact;
when, however, the lever 50 returns to the right, and before play is interrupted, said pawl engages the spring 101 and makes contact with the spring 102. The spring 101 as it is. shown in fig. 1 is connected by conductor 104 to the. bell 105, which in turn is connected by conductor 106 to pole 84. The other pole 87 is connected by conductor 107 to lower spring 102.
This is why when 1.c- lever 50 arrives in the position indicated above, the bell 105 gives an acoustic alarm and if the players wish. extend the period of time granted without interrupting the game, they can directly. in troduce a new coin (the change and the device go up again. The circuit for the electromagnet 43 is made as follows: terminal 108 is connected directly by conductor 109 to pole 84 of the socket. current.
The other terminal 110 is connected by the conductor 111 to the contact element 37 and consequently through the coin 41 to the other contact element 38 which in turn is connected by the conductor 112 to the. other pole 87 of the socket. The element 38, the lever 25 and the plate 31 which is associated with it are insulated from the other metal parts, so that there is no fear of the form of short circuits.
The operation of the whole apparatus takes place as follows: By inserting a coin of the module indicated by the position of the index 7 in the opening 6, this coin is arranged in the manner indicated in the fi-. 3, and establishes the electrical contact between the elements 37 and 38. Thus is closed the circuit for the electromagnet $ 4 which attracts its core 44 thus turning the lever 47 to the left and moving in the same direction the winding lever 50 to the point allowed by the. plate position 31.
The roller 56 of the lever 57 rolls on the inclined guide 55 and the tooth 60 releases the lever 62, which is moved to the right by the spring 65. The ak 8 turns to the left (fig. \?) And the bars rettes 15 fall by their own weight to the level of the plane. The game can then be started.
When the period of time set by the clockwork movement 52 has elapsed as a function of the amplitude of the displacement of the lever 50 which returns back with a uniform movement, the pawl 99 carries the res out 101 to establish contact with spring 1.02, -and buzzer: 105 gives the acoustic alarm. If the players want to continue the game, they insert a new coin in the opening 6, the electromagnet f, is energized again and the operation begins again as described.
If, on the contrary, the game is over, the lever 50 continues to move to the right until the nInment where end soli 88 ensures contact between the elements 85 and 79 by which the electro -Magnet 70 is energized, and the lever 62 and consequently the bars 15 are returned to the position which corresponds to the prevented play. We have already seen how the electromagnet is de-energized by the rotation of lever 75.
It will be noted that the tooth 60 can engage the nose 61 of the lever 62 by the fact that the lever 50 is in its extreme right position shown in FIG. 2 and that, consequently, the roller 56 does not encounter any impediment from the inclined guide 55 to its downward movement.
Naturally, the actuation of the bars located on the billiard table can also take place in other ways than in the embodiment described above, for example they can move horizontally instead of vertically, so as to project themselves onto the plane. billiards coming from one of the boards and the transmission of the movement from the control mechanism of the start of the game can also take place by means of an articulated parallelogram device or the like.
The actuation of the device, particularly of the control mechanism of the start of the game, can also be carried out in a semi-automatic manner. For example, after having introduced the coin, one can act on a lever at. hand, then released, which causes weights to be lifted or springs tensioned. These weights or these springs replace the electromagnet 43 - and by their action the clockwork mechanism 52 is raised and the bars 15 are lowered in the same manner as described above. The bars are automatically recalled to their original position.
The control of the disappearance of the bars can also be carried out using a lever, as well as the winding due to the clock movement, and only the return of the bars to their original position is carried out automatically.
