La fig. 1 indique, vus de face, deux in terrupteurs en tension l'un sur l'autre, par où passe le .courant à. limiter, interrupteurs que comportent la plupart de ces limiteurs; La, fig. 2 indique, vu de facé, un dispositif de rupture, employé dans les limiteurs pour fortes intensités; La fig. 3 en est, à plus grande. échelle, une vue de profil; Les fig. 4 et 5 indiquent une première forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention; Les fig. 6 et 7 indiquent une seconde forme d'exécution;
Les fib. G et 7 indiquent un dispositif permettant d'allumer tout. un nombre do - lampes à filament métallique, à la. fois. Il est connu que ces lampes absorbent. au mo ment de l'alliiniage uni courant beaucoup plni intense que lorsqu'elles sont en. fonctioiinc,- ment, il s'ensuit que si un de ces limiteurs est. réglé pour limiler le courant;
Electric current limiter with snap action and manual reset. The invention relates to an electric current limiter with sudden break and reset, ent by hand.
On the attached schematic drawing, for the intelligence of 1.9, description, figs. 1 to 3 relate to known devices of limiters of this kind.
Fig. 1 indicates, seen from the front, two voltage switches one on top of the other, through which the current passes. limit, switches included in most of these limiters; The, fig. 2 indicates, seen from the front, a breaking device, used in limiters for high currents; Fig. 3 is, to larger. ladder, a side view; Figs. 4 and 5 indicate a first embodiment of the object of the invention; Figs. 6 and 7 indicate a second embodiment;
Figs. 8 and 9 indicate a third given embodiment, like the previous ones, by way of example.
The limiter fig. 1 includes two switches A C and B D, whose blades A and B can pivot in H where they are connected. The main current arrives at the brush C, passes through the blades A B, the brush D and arrives at the devices of use P.
Under the effect of a spring E, the blade B tends to move away from the brush D, but a click E opposes this movement.
Under the influence of the current to be limited, the pawl F is forced by an appropriate device to move away from the blade B which suddenly escapes from the brush D, thus producing the interruption of the main current.
To re-establish contact between B and D, blade A is used which can be operated from outside the limiter cover by means of a button insulation, which allows by means of a stop G to re-engage blade B.
We are therefore obliged to interrupt the current each time we close the switch B D, which prevents fraud.
In limiters for high currents, it is necessary for the brushes D to exert a strong pressure on 1, a blade B, which requires the use of a spring E powerful enough to be able to move B away from D. It follows that the pawl I 'is subjected to a very strong pressure and it is necessary that the device utilïsf @ to remove the pawl I' has sufficient force.
The fi--. 2 and 13 indicate a device making it possible to achieve this result, it comprises an armature 1 which can pivot on an axis Ii and which can be attracted by a Mèctro-magnet 0 traversed by the current to. limit. The axis h = also carries a mobile part of which a finger P rests on a goal @ 'e (, @ integral with the frame I.
This moving part L is constructed so that its center of gravity is almost on the vertical line 1, but a little on the left, or on line 2.
It follows that when there is overshoot of the current and which, the arniaiure 1 is attracted, the piece L is lifted and the center of gravity is moved to the right beyond vertical 1, it then continues its pout ein entrained by its weight, and, by the energy developed, violently strikes the pawl T ',
which releases the, wool h which escapes pulled by the. spring, and by means of a finger 11 fixed on the part L goes back to its. -place primitive.
This device therefore has the advantage of having sufficient force to obtain the separation of the pawl r whatever the pressure of the blade 13, but it offers the following two inconveniences: -nts:
10 The, part L resting on a cutf @ by the finger P on the, stop Q, the frame 1 attached to the kart. piece L, it follows that the total weight to be lifted by the electromagnet 0 is very variable depending on the. position of the center of gravity of the. part L with respect to the vertical.
Assuming that the center of gravity, ie the line \ i, merges with, la. line 1, the electro 0 will only have to lift the weight of the mature ar 1.
Now if, at the station, the device is set beforehand for a given intensity and if it is placed at the subscriber's premises in a slightly different position, the center of gravity is shifted to. straight or bauclie, the weight of the frame is augnient:
# @ or decreased and it takes a different amperage than the station used to attract the armature. \ _? "The part L bears on the same axis Ii as that of the armature 1, and as this part Ii must have a certain weight, sufficient to produce a violent shock against the pawl T, there follows sufficient friction. raised between axis Ii and its conl:
re-pivots N N ', which makes the operation of the device imprecise.
In order to remedy <these drawbacks and allow the limiter to be adjusted beforehand, the piece L indicated on the fi-. 4 and fi, no longer rest on the. stop Q of the armature I, it is held at a certain distance from it can be adjusted by means of a screw l 'and a fixed part S , the whole combined in a that when there is overshoot and the armature I is attracted and there is still a small distance from the electro 0,
a finger T integral with the. part L strikes the armature I, which displaces the center of gravity of part L outside the vertical, allowing it to vote and; d, # come and hit the pawl.
In addition, the part L can rotate around a fixed axis, thus preventing (the by its, weight, faith d:
ionne.nient of the axis Ii of the armature I. As the center of gravity of the armature small be placed horizontally within a certain limit, the position of the device cannot influence its adjustment.
The fib. G and 7 indicate a device allowing to light everything. a number of - metal filament lamps, at the. times. It is known that these lamps absorb. at the time of the united alloying current much more intense than when they are in. functioiinc, - ment, it follows that if one of these limiters is. set to cut current;
of a certain number of lamps and come to where, light all the lamps 1. at once, If, Limitmir starts and interrupts the current.
The fib device. 6 and 7 make it possible to cancel this iiiconvenient, it comprises a bimetallic wool L 'fixed to its lower part and the free upper part of which can move to the right or to the left depending on whether Z has. heating or cooling.
This ZT bimetallic strip has its upper end placed just below. of the armature I, so that in the event of traction of said armature by the electro 0, (# 11 (# iie can pivot only by the movement just necessary to come into contact with the blade U, and as , on the other hand, the blade U is surrounded by a wire X having sufficient resistivity to heat up during the passage of the -current which can traverse it,
the ends of the wire X are connected, on the one hand, to the blade U and, on the other hand, to one of the poles of the main circuit, the armature I being connected to the other pole.
At each attraction of the armature I by the electro 0, said armature can only move the distance necessary to come into contact with the plate U, which has the effect of allowing a current to flow through the wire X which heats up and by conductivity heats the plate U. There are then two cases.
ter -cas: if the armature I is attracted when the exceeding of the current intensity is momentary, for example when the lighting of all the lamps is done at the same time, the time necessary for the expansion of the blade U can occur enough to pass the armature I is too large, allowing the reestablishment of normal current in metal filament lamps.
2nd case: if the overshoot is long-lasting, the U plate has the time necessary to expand and allow the reinforcement I to pass, which produces the so-called main current interruption.
Figs. 8 and 9 indicate a device allowing the on-site adjustment of the limiter, without the use of a measuring device and this by means of a counterweight provided with an index placed on the frame I along which we can move it. Against the base of the limiter is a Z dial on which are marked the intensities for which the device operates, when the index is on the line corresponding to the indicated amperage.
