Electromagnetic winding mechanism of a clockize movement. The object of the invention is an electro-magnetic winding mechanism of a clockwork movement, a watch for example.
It comprises, like other known mechanisms for electromagnetic winding of watch movements, an electro, magnetic device, the circuit of which is closed from time to time and which tightens a motor spring for the movement. But it is distinguished from it by the fact that the mobile part -du electromagnetic device acts directly on a rocker controlling the circuit and actuated in opposite directions by this electro-maggnetic device -and by 12 mainspring.
In a preferred embodiment of the mechanism, the lever may be subjected to the action of a spring which maintains one of the parts of this lever in contact with a fixed stop normally preventing the closing of the circuit, but which , abruptly leaving this stop when the, rocker has moved a certain amount under the action of the mainspring, allows a sudden fall of this rocker, which produces a sudden closure of the circuit. In this form of execution,
the part -of the rocker which is in contact with the fixed stopper may be an inclined plane which, by co-operating with the latter, is intended to cause a damping of the return movement of a rewinding pawl, actuated by the movable part of the electromagnetic device, under the action .du mainspring, after each actuation -de this device, in order to obtain an isoch.r.one movement of the balance of the clockwork movement.
The appended drawing shows schematically two embodiments of the mechanism, given as examples.
Fig. 1 is an elevation of the first embodiment; Figs. 2 and 8 are a horizontal section and a partial elevation of the second embodiment; Fig. 4 relates to detail variants.
According to fig. 1, the electro-magnetic device mentioned: in the introduction is constituted by an electromagnet 8 whose mature arm 4 'is subject to the middle branch of an arm 4 having the shape of a Z : and rotated at one of its ends in 5 '. The arm 4 carries a pawl 2 pivoted on it at 5 and acting on a ratchet 1 integral with the axis: of the great mean of the movement, not shown for simplicity; a stop pawl 3 prevents - in all cases, the ratchet 1 from going back.
A coil spring 6 is attached, on the one hand, to an adjustable screw 7, - on the other hand, to the arm 4 which it tends to move away from the electromagnet 8.
When the armature 4 'is attracted by this electromagnet 8, the arm 4 swings -in the direction of clockwise movement, which tightens the spring 6 and makes the pawl 2 jump - from tooth to tooth .on ratchet 1, kept stationary, in the direction of this movement of the needles; when it ceases to be attracted, the spring 6 forces, via the pawl 2, the ratchet 1 to turn in the opposite direction, -in so far as the exhaust allows it.
Rubber rings 29 are arranged around the poles @ of the electromagnet 8 and protrude slightly from them so that the mature artery 4 'cannot stick to them and so that it does not cause noise when it reaches the end of its travel towards 8. A stop 80, adjustable, limits, -on the other hand, the travel -of arm 4 under the action of: spring 6.
The arm 4 controls by its movements the passage of the current -in the electromagnet 8. For this purpose, one of the poles of the battery 9 is connected by a conductor 50 to one of the ends of the winding: (8, whose other end is connected by a conductor 51 with the: circuit control device, actuated by 4 and connected by a conductor 52 to the second pole of battery 9.
The control device comprises a lever 20, rotating around: an axis 18 carried by a fork 19 fixed to the upper end of a leaf spring 10 secured at its lower part to a fixed support 28; - under these conditions, the rocker can, not only turn around 18 ', but also. move approximately parallel to itself by a certain amount.
It has at one of its ends an ankle 16 housed with a certain play in all directions, in a notch 17 located at the free end of the arm 4, at the other a lug 21 and a spout 54 carrying a contact strip 20 '.separated from the lug.
21 with a notch .55. This lug has an inclined plane 56 bearing on a rigid part 22 secured to the support 28 and bearing a metal stud 23; the latter is fixed to part 22, in: is insulated at 26, is provided with: a screw 27, as well as: a knurled nut 24, under which the conductor 52 is tightened and carries a screw 25 with which the lamella 20 'can engage; the needle 20 'and the tip of the screw 25 are lined with: a precious metal such as silver, at the right where:
they engage with each other. The spring 10 and the part 22 each have two superimposed holes, -in each of which passes a screw 12: of the support 28 -and an insulating sheath 58; between this support 28 and the part 22, the latter and the spring 10, are arranged - insulating spacers 59, 60: By tightening the screws 12, both 10 and 22 are therefore immobilized: which are however isolated from each other; 10 is connected to conductor 51.
Under these conditions, the e-circuit of the electromagnet 8 is as follows: + pole of the battery 9, conductor 50, electromagnet 8, conductor 51, spring 10, rocker 20, strip 20 ', screw 25, conductor 52, pole - of ! battery 9.
The height of the support 28 can be adjusted by means of vertical slides 11 which are provided in it @and where pass: screws 62.
The operation of the control device is as follows: The spring 10 tends to make conti. nuellem: ent. slide the inclined plane 5.6 onto the, fixed stop 22, otherwise push the lever 20 from left to right.
As a result, as long as the arm 4 is moved under the action of -du rassort 6 and that its pawl 2 rotates wheel 1 -in the counterclockwise direction: clockwise, the same town 16 of the rocker 20 is moved upwards by the forked end of the arm 4 - and at the same time 4: e right to left by the inclined plane 56, against the action of the spring 10.
Assuming that the end of the stop 22 has the shape shown in FIG. 4, left variant, as soon as the end of the inclined plane 56 leaves the top of the stop 22, it: slides from left to right on the plane, inclined 38 under the action of the spring 10, which causes sudden detachment of the pin 16 from the forked end of the arm 4.
At the same time, there is a sudden closing of the excitation circuit of the electro-a, imitating 8 by the contact of the strip 20 'with the screw 25. At this moment, the armature 4' and the arm 4 are attracted by the electromagnet 8 and rotate clockwise. The pawl 2.2 then slides on the wheel 1 to engage with the next tooth. The width of the notch 17 of the end of the arm 4 is chosen so that the upper branch of its fork comes into contact with the peg 16 when the pawl 2 is on the tip of a tooth wheel 1.
The fall of the rocker 20, when the end of the plane 56 slides on the plane 38,. Is very small, so that as soon as the upper branch of the fork of the arm 4 touches the pin 16, the inclined plane 56 slides .on the top .of the. stop 22 under the influence of spring 10, which brings che town 16 into contact with the lower branch of the fork.
The excitation circuit of the electromagnet 8 is then open and this interruption takes place before the armature comes into contact with the poles of the electromagnet 8, but the displacement force communicated to the armature 4 'and to the arm 4 causes them to continue their travel for a moment, against the action of the mainspring 6, until the armature touches the poles of the electro- magnet 8, which leaves the rocker 20, the mass of which is much less than that of the arm 4 and of the frame 4 ',
time to perform its movement which brings the Che ville 16 in contact with the lower branch of the fork of the arm 4 and which allows the pawl 2 to come into contact with the tooth on the point of which it was located. momet of the contact break.
There necessarily exists a slight play -between the pawl and the tooth of the wheel 2 and this play would consequently cause the abrupt recoil of the pawl under the action @du spring 6 suddenly, if the lever 20 subjected to the action of res sort 10 did not dampen it. from the start of the return movement of the arm 4, thanks to its inclined plane sliding on the stop 22.
The operations described then begin again in the same sequence.
In the second embodiment, the arm 4, actuated by the electromagnet, not shown, is connected by a link 7 0 to a rocker 36 rotating and sliding freely on an axis rotary 33. The lever 36 is integral with a wolf tooth wheel 71 meshing with a wheel 30 wedged on the axis 33 which also carries a ratchet 34 cooperating with a stop pawl 32 disposed on the plate 36.
A flat res comes out 40, fixed in its middle to the axis 33 by a screw 31 '- and having at its ends. Slides - through which screws 31 pass from the lever 36, maintains the two wheels 71, 30 in taken.
When the electromagnet (not shown) activates arm 4 -in the direction of movement, clockwise (fig. 3) and while holding the spring, not shown in the drawing, lever 36 turns in the direction of movement. same direction, the wheel 70 jumps from one or more teeth without dragging it on the wheel 30, held stationary by the ratchet 34 and the pawl 32. As soon as the action of 8 ceases, the not shown spring makes gradually turning the arm 4 and the rocker 36 in the opposite direction from their first movement, so that the wheel 71 drives the wheel 30 and activates the watch movement.
Fig. 4 shows various variants of the rod 22 of FIG. 1. The left-hand variant has a notch 38 near its united top, allowing a sudden sliding ide the point of the lug 21. In the middle one, two superimposed notches 37 are made, the er got -sliding on the intermediate ridge. The third comprises a roller 41 on which the inclined plane of the lug 21 rests.
The mainspring, the movement can be any; it can be, for example, a flat, spiral res sort, working on compression.
