Process for the preparation of a new trisazo dye. Applicant has found that a new and valuable dye which dyes cotton in bluish-green shades and which is produced by diazotization and coupling with one of the usual developers, e.g.
B. acetoacetic acid o-chloroanilide (Olls-CO-CI-12 - 00 - NH - C6H4C1), on which the fiber can be developed, is obtained by diazotized 2-naphthyl-amiii-4.8-disulfonic acid with 1-m-aminophenyl-3-mothyl-5-pyrazolone couples, diazotized, with 1-naphthylamitio-2-thioglycolic acid,
diazotized again and coupled with 2-p-aminobenzoylamino-5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid. The new dye dissolves in water with a dark blue-green color and, with concentrated sulfuric acid, gives a yellowish-green solution.
30.3 parts of 2-naphthylamine-4.8-disulfonic acid are diazotized in the usual way and at 10 0 C with a solution of 18.9 parts 1- (m-Aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is mixed in 250 parts of water, 10 parts of 40% sodium hydroxide and 10 parts of sodium carbonate. The monoazo compound thus formed is mixed isolated by salting out and filtering.
The yellow precipitate is redissolved in 1000 parts of water at 30 "C and diazotized by adding 35 parts of 20% aqueous sodium nitrite, whereupon 40 parts of hydrochloric acid are added (sp. weight 1.16)
. This is followed by a five-hour diazotization and the suspension of the diazo-azo compound is slowly added to a solution of 23 parts of the sodium salt of 1-naphthylamine-2-thio-glycolic acid and 20 parts of sodium carbonate in B > 800 parts of water were added at a temperature of 10'C . The reaction mixture is stirred for one hour and the amino-disazo compound is then isolated by adding salt with subsequent filtration.
The brownish-orange-colored aminodisazo compound is then further dissolved in 600 parts of water at a temperature of 80 C and becomes 25 parts of 20 Nigem , aqueous sodium nitrite is added, followed by 40 parts of hydrochloric acid (sp. wt. 1.16).
After two hours of stirring at 25 - 30 0 0, the diazotization is mainly complete and by adding 120 parts of sodium chloride with subsequent filtration, the diazo disazo compound is obtained as a brown, aqueous dough,
which in small amounts all at once an ice-cold solution of 38 parts of the sodium salt of 2-p-aminobenzoylamino - 5 - naphtol -7 - sulfonic acid in 200 parts of water and 24 parts of ammonia (sp. wt. 0.88) is added. The new trisazo dye thus formed is isolated from the solution by adding salt and filtering.
It dyes cotton in bluish-green shades which, through further diazotization and development on the fiber with acetoacetic acid-o-chloraliilide, give pale yellowish green shades of excellent washfastness.
