Description

  

  Verfahren zur Herstellung einer     Nunstmasse.       Gegenstand des Hauptpatentes     Nr.        155126     ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer  Kunstmasse durch Umsetzung von     Polyvinyl-          alkohol    und     Äthylenoxyd.     



  Es wurde gefunden,     dass    man gleichfalls  eine wertvolle Kunstmasse erhalten kann,  wenn man wasserlösliches     Polyvinylacetat     mit     Äthylenoxyd    umsetzt. Die Einwirkung  des     Äthylenoxyds    auf das wasserlösliche       'Polyvinylacetat    kann bei gewöhnlicher oder  erhöhter Temperatur stattfinden. Ferner kann  man bei erhöhtem Druck arbeiten.

   Es können  auch Reaktionsbeschleuniger angewendet wer  den, zum Beispiel tertiäre Basen, wie     Tri-          methylamin,        Dimethylanilin,        Pyridin;        Al-          kalien,    wie Natrium-,     Kaliumhydroxyd    und  die     Erdalkalihydroxyde;    ferner basisch rea  gierende Salze, wie Soda,     Natriumacetat,          Natriumoxalat,    tertiäres     Natriumphosphat.     Man kann auch in Gegenwart     inerter    Gase  arbeiten.

   Man kann die ]Reaktion auch so  ausführen,     dass    man das wasserlösliche Poly-         vinylacetat    entweder für sich oder in Gegen  wart einer organischen Base oder in Gegen  wart von Alkali mit     Äthylenoxyd    in der  Dampfphase behandelt. Das entstehende Pro  dukt ist in Wasser löslich und kann zur  Herstellung von plastischen Massen,     Ver-          dickungs-,    Appretur- und     Schlichtemitteln     und dergleichen verwendet werden.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  <B>100</B> Gewichtsteile eines wasserlöslichen       Polyvinylacetates,    das man beispielsweise  durch teilweise     Verseifung    von     Polyvinylace-          tat    herstellen kann, werden mit 200 Gewichts  teilen     Äthylenoxyd    und<B>3</B>     Gewichtsteilen     einer     50"/oigen    Natronlauge vermischt und  in einem Druckgefäss mehrere Stunden auf       40-50"    erwärmt. Es entstehen stark ge  quollene plastische Massen, aus denen man  das Alkali zum Beispiel durch Waschen mit  verdünntem Alkohol entfernen kann.

   Das  Endprodukt ist in Wasser löslich und kann      zur Herstellung von plastischen Massen,       Verdickungs-,    Appretur- und     Schlichtemittel     und dergleichen verwendet werden.
