Method of making a new one; condensation product suitable for the production of plastic masses. The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of a new condensation product, characterized in that a hexachloro-ricinoleic acid (Swiss patent no. 148667) is treated with a solution of a weak alkali.
The new condensation product is a rubber-like substance that is insoluble in water, dilute acids and alkalis, as well as in organic solvents. It is to be used for the production of plastic masses. Example r: 26 kg of hexachlorricinus oleic acid (Swiss Patent No. 148667) are heated to 140-150 ° in an autoclave with a solution of 50 kg of potash in 150 kg of water for about 6 hours. After cooling, the insoluble, rubber-like substance obtained is separated from the brown solution and a product which is insoluble in chloroform is obtained. It also remains undissolved when cooking with lye, making it a particularly highly polymerised product.
It can be cleaned further by boiling it with alcohol.
Instead of a solution of potash, the reaction can be carried out with the same success with an aqueous solution of secondary sodium phosphate.
Example 2: 25 kg of hexachlorricinus oleic acid (Swiss Patent No. 148667) are mixed with 20 kg of urea and 80 kg of water with the addition of 0.3 kg of copper powder in the autoclave on 110 for 3-4 hours -11511 heated. After separation from the aqueous salt solution, a rubbery, still somewhat sticky mass is obtained which is insoluble in chloroform and does not go into solution even when boiled with dilute lye. The product is freed from the copper compound by briefly treating it with dilute mineral acid and boiling it with water. Briefly boiling the product with chloroform will make it lose its stickiness.
Example 3: 25 kg of hexachlorricinusoleic acid (Swiss patent no. 1.48667) are mixed with a solution of 18 kg of urea and 23 kg of anhydrous sodium acetate in 150 kg of water with the addition of 0.3 kg of copper powder for 3-4 hours cooked on the reflux condenser. After the reaction has ended, the semisolid, precipitated mass is separated from the aqueous solution and washed with alcohol. He holds a soft, rubber-like, still somewhat sticky product that does not go into solution when heated with dilute alkalis or dilute acids, but loses its stickiness and increases significantly in toughness and elasticity. It can be further purified by boiling it with chloroform.
