Machine parlante.
La fig. 1 est une vue en plan d'une par tie -d'une première forme d'exécutioni dont les deux bras sontdans l'une des positions qu'ils occupent pendant la. reproduction d'un dis que, -les bras, dans oe!cas, étant disposés pour se,d6placer autour d'un axe vertical commun; La fig. 2 est une vue en plan montrant les bras -dans, la. position dans laquelle un -disque, représenté en traits interrompus, qui vient d'être reproduit -sur une de ses faces, est prêt à être transporté au bras de renversement avant d'être retourné, le bras supérieur étant partiellement occupé;

A vertical 31 axis is mounted in this sleeve 24, it supports at its upper end an arm 32 for transporting the disks. The axis 31 is arranged so to be able to move at at the same time - by turning and vertically in the socket 24, to raise and lower the 32 arm and-, to swing it between positions above the turntable 20 and above the stack number of discs in magazine 21.
The arm 32 is also moved by the engine of the machine by means of any suitable transmission not shown and in temporal relation, with the movements of the arm 29.
A plate 3âis mounted on the upper surface of the sleeve 9-4, this plate being fixed to this sleeve by pins 34 and grooves 35 which allow movement limited of the plate 33 in relation to to the socket.
The bard of the plate 33 -is provided with a recess 36 of given size, in which engages a pin 37, </ B > -in certain positions of the 32 transport arm, this pin 37 being integral with the pivoting end of the 32 arm and extending down, to from -a point near that -endermost.
Several 38 rack teeth are carried -on the underside of the. plate 33, these teeth cooperate with the teeth of a pin 39 rigidly fixed to the end of the axis < B> 28 carrying the arm 29. On one side of the arm 29 -is fixed a plate 40 in the form of a cam, in a position where it can coo- operate, during a game, the oscillation movement of the arm 29, with a roller 41 mounted on a fixed console 49- carried by the plate 26 basic.
Three pins 43 are provided spaced around the turntable 20 and are arranged to move vertically in in unison in con-soles 44 fixed to the plate. based. These pins 43 are moved, at appropriate times by any suitable means driven by the machine motor.
The pins 43 carry at their ends bearings 45 of other or other similar material and the arrangement is such that when the bearings are normally below the level of the turntable and are lifted, they engage the lower surface of a disc placed on the turntable to lift it.
The arms 29 and 32 # are each provided with devices for gripping the disc, these devices comprising notched pins 46, intended to penetrate into the discs. central openings of the discs, as well as -means not shown for keeping the -discs in engagement with the pins. The device described in patent no. 148,531 can be employed for this purpose.
The succession of movements of the organs of the machine is shown in figs. 4 to it.
In fig. 4, the organs are represented in the positions that they. aoeupenf; when the machine is not in use.
A stack of discs is placed in storage 21 and the machine engine is started. The transmission mechanism for carrying out the automatic movements is joined to the motor in any convenient way, after which the, arm 32 is raised and brought to a position on top of the stack -d # e, dis # ques in the magazine, as shown to la, fig. 5 and at the same time the arm 29 moves to a position above the turntable.
The pin 46 of the 32 arm penetrates into the opening, the central part of the -disc -on the stack and the means for gripping the -disk, of typeecc> nnu, are actuated to arm 32. The arm 32 is then oscillated from the position.
above the magazine to that -above of the turntable, then it is lowered, after which the means for gripping the -disc are actuated, for example by lowering a pin 47 movable vertically at appropriate intervals, in a bearing 48 above the 26 -base plate, to allow the disc to fall on the turntable -P. During this swinging movement of arm 32, arm 29 returns to a position above compartment 22 </ B > for discarded disks,
the members then being in the position shown to in FIG. 6. The reproducer 80 is then actuated in a known manner to engage the disc and to reproduce it. The arms 29 and 32 remain in the position shown in in fig. 6, while the disk is running.
When the reproduction of one side of the disc is finished, the automatic mechanism is again coupled to the motor of the machine. The breeder is moved in a known manner from the disc. The pins 43 and the pads 45 are raised to lift the reproduced disc into a - position where it engages with the 32 arm and this disc is gripped and held by that arm.
The arms 32 and 29 sorrel together again, until they reach a point between the turntable 20 and the ma gasin 21, where the arm, 29 is immediately below the arm 32 (fig. 2). During; -this movement, the arm 32 is lowered and the pin 37 secured to this arm. engages with a recess 36 made in the plate 33 and the latter is rotated with the arm 32 and on the socket 24, as permitted, the link 34, 35 to pins and to grooves.
As the arm 29 moves with the sleeve 24, the pinion 39 rigidly fixed to the arm 29 is rotated by its gear with the teeth # 38 -from-rack, part.as by the underside of the plate 33. It follows that the.arm 29 is turned by one year- gle, 180 ' around a horizontal axis, before reaching its position below the 32 arm (fig. 7). </ B > In this way,
the pin 46 gripping the disc is put in a position facing upwards and in alignment with the pin 46 of the 32. arm. The means for holding the, < / B> disc on the arm 32 are actuated to release this -disk and this -last toinbe on the arm 29 by having its or central opening on the pin 46 of this arms.
The arm 32 then rises (fic. 8) and the means for gripping the disc #on the arm 29 are actuated to grip this disk. When the arm 32 has been sufficiently raised to release the pin 37 integral with this arm, from the depression 36 made in the plate 33, the # o-scillation movement of the 29 and 32 arms continues in the same -direction as before., The arm 32 moving over the magazine -and the arm 29 above the turntable.
However, as the arm 29 moves, the cam plate 40 engages the roller 41 carried by the bracket 42 and the arm -99 -is rotated with the disk, 1.80 ', as shown in the fiu. 9 -and 10. The disc is finally placed on the turntable with its side not yet reproduced & ssus.
During this movement, the pinion 39 turns, and thanks to its #contact with the, rack 38, brings back the plate 33 to its, primary position relative to to the socket 24.
The second side of the disc is reproduced, the arm 29 remains above the 4- #turning table during the game. When the reproduction of the second side of the disc is executed. is finished, this last one is to again raised by the pins 43 and the, cushions 45, so to come into engagement with the bra, q 29 and to to be seized by this -later.
The arms 32 and 29 again oscillate around their vertical axes (fig. 11), the arm 29 interval removing the reproduced disc from the turntable and the, depositing when actuating the disc release means in the disc magazine set aside and the 32 arm bringing a new say that at the turntable. ' The, succession of operations & written above. repeats -automatically until all discs in the magazine have been played on both sides.
In the embodiment shown to in fig. 12, 1 and 2 represent the turntable and the disk stack in the magazine, respectively. Soft iron 3 discs are affixed with the side of the recording discs at their centers.
The conveyor arm 4 is mounted in such a way to be able to oscillate in turn -a vertical axis 5 between, pc; positions , - above the magazine 2 and above the turntable 1, it can also move vertically.
This -arm carries at its free end an electromagnet, not shown, whose active face is at its lower end.
The overturning arm 6 has the shape of a horizontal rod mounted, so to to be able to turn around its own axis, in a bearing 7 < / B> (fig. 13) at the upper end of a pillar 8 which can itself turn to swing the arm 6 </ B > horizontally and which can -move vertically. to raise and lower this arm 6. An electromagnet at two ends, not shown, is attached to the free end of the arm 6. the key sides of this magnet are arranged above and below each other.
The arm 6 is prevented from rotating in the bearing 7, just when rotation is required, by a spring loaded pawl 9 and rotated, 10 #on an extension Il of the post 8, the end of the pawl resting normally in one or the another of two openings 12 formed to on the diametrically opposed sides on the upper and lower sides of the bra.s. Means in the form of a traction ii-, e 13 are provided to oscillate the pawl 9 at will, to release the arm 6, < / B> so that it can rotate in bearing 7.
The operation is as follows: Assuming that the machine is stopped with its components in the positions indicated to, in fig. 12, the magazine is occupied by a stack of discs and the conveyor arm 4 rests with its magnet in contact with the central metal disc 3 of the upper recording disc. The machine is then start-up.
The magnet of the arm 4 is energized to lift the upper disc and. the arm is rotated around the pivot 5 to transport the disc -in a position above, the table, after which the magnet is released, it6 and the disc is dropped, in its reproduction position, the arm 4 returning to the position above the magazine. On, say that is reproduced and after the complete reproduction of a side, the arm 4 is brought back to the pasition above the turntable, but this time without carrying a disc.
The ai mant is again energized to lift the duplicated disc - and arm 4 is then raised to lift the disc to a determined height at advance to -above the turntable 1, then the disc is kept raised until, -the overturning arm 6 meets the pillar 8 around & the axis of the latter, from the rest position indicated at fi-. 12 to a position where one side: of the-i- mant carried by the arm 6 is below the metal disc on the lower side of the dis que d'-enreo -istrement maintained by the arm 4.
When this position is reached, the magnet of arm 4 is de-energized and that of arm 6 is energized, so that the --disk is then held by arm 6. < / B> The 4 re arm rotates at - this moment above the magazine and when the 6 arm is released, it is raised to a given height at the- above the turntable, this height being greater than the radius of the disc. The pawl 9 -is then tilted, e by the rod 13 during the upward movement -of the latter,
this movement being stopped in any convenient way, for example by bringing a washer 13 'from its lower end against a stop not shown. The arm 6 is then free to turn in the bearing 7 and as the weight of the #disk, held at this time by the upper face from the magnet of the arm 6, raises the -centre of gravity above, from the axis of rotation of the arm 6, the rod rotates and the disc came back.
The 6 -inverting arm -is then aba, issù and the pawl 9 penetrates -in the groove 12) </ B> of arm 16, being at this highest moment. When the disc comes very close to the turntable, the magnet of arm 6 is de-energized and the disc is released to fall into the breeding position, lf- # arm 6 </ B > can then return to its home position. Once the disc has been played on its both sides, it can be removed from the turntable in any known way.
However-, if desired, the disc can be removed -from the turntable by the br, ts 6, as in the machine described above, de-denial and be transported in a compartment at the appropriate magazine.
The excitement and the. de-energization of the movers of the conveyor arm 4 and of the inversion arm, at - at appropriate times and at intervals, can be carried out at any suitably, as, for example, by two rotating members comprising opening and closing means on a switch and arranged to turn each in synchronism with eha, one of the arms 4 and 6 .
The rotary actuator of the -switch for the magnet of the transport arm 4 will perform one revolution during a cycle of the movements of the -arm 4, corresponding to the play of a #disc -on its -two faces, the cycle comprising five main movements on the part of the arm 4. Thus, when the arm 4 is above the magazine, the switch is closed and it remains closed until the arm has oscillated in the position above turntable, it is then opened to release the disc. The arm 4 then returns to the position above the magazine with the switch open.
Once the disc has been played back on one side, the arm 4 again swings over the turntable and the switch is again closed to grip the played disc. The arm 4 is then raised with the disc, the switch remains closed until the reversal arm 6 sorrel & ns a position below the disc, after which the, switch is open and arm 4 returns to the. position above the magazine, the switch always remaining open during this time.
The rotary control member of the switch for the magnet of the overturning arm 6 , rotates, to close and to open the switch during a cycle of movements by the arm 6, the -switch being held closed when the -disk is lifted by arm 6 of arm 4 and held or green when the - overturned disc is released to fall on the. turning table.
In the two embodiments described above, the movements of the oscillating arms for transporting and reversing the discs, as well as those of the arm carrying the sound box or the pick-up, can be effected by the motor. #from the mac-bine to using any known and suitable form of transmission mechanism, such as, for example, descames-, which transmits determined and corresponding movements to the point of temporal view to moving parts or actuating rods, levers # and others. similar parts suitably connected with the moving parts.
The rotary cams may be coupled to the drive motor, at intervals, by any suitable clutch device operable, for example, in a manner well known by a movement - reverse, given to the arm of the soundbox or pickup, when the stylus or needle enters an eccentric groove located at the end of the direction line or groove of the disc.
