En effet, d'une part, la- roue des, cycles 7 (commande de facon .connue le retour du bras du pick-up, lorsqu'un disque a été joué;
Talking machine equipped with a disc changer device. In known talking machines, provided with a disc changer device, in which the discs are loaded directly onto the turntable, and ejected into a magazine after having been played, it is necessary that the loaded discs have all the same diameter so that ejection can take place automatically.
In the talking machine, which is the subject of the present invention, this condition is not compulsory. This talking machine is of the aforementioned type and comprises a power-ejector device, actuated by the motor mechanism of the turntable and of the pick-up arm. 1:
11 is characterized in that this positive feeler-ejector is. a rotating member and. has a. feeler element which, during the ejection movements of a played disc, comes into contact with the edge of the following disc and controls the positioning of a retaining stop determining, for a large diameter disc, the- position of the pick-up arm in relation to the edge of this disc.
The accompanying drawing shows, at. As an example, an embodiment of the machine by lante according to the invention.
The fi, Y. 1. is a schematic plan view of the machine.
Fig. ? is, a section through the probe-ejector device, on a larger scale, certain elements of this figure being, for greater clarity, arranged differently than in FIG. 1. This talking machine comprises a frame 1 on which is mounted a motor 2, a positive feeler-ejector device 3 and a pick-up arm 4.
The shaft 5 of the motor, carrying the turntable 10, is provided with a pinion 6 by dragging a toothed wheel 7 called the cycle wheel. It is by this wheel: cycles 7 that are controlled the arm of pick-up 4, as well as the feeler-ejector device 3. The control of the arm of pick-up 4 being of current construction has not been shown in the drawing.
On the other hand, the control of the feeler-ejector device is shown schematically in FIG. 1, on which it can be seen that the cycle wheel: drives an intermediate wheel 8 itself driving a toothed wheel 9 integral in rotation with the feeler-ejector device and hereinafter referred to as the selector wheel.
This feeler-ejector device, located on the side of the turntable 10, carried by the motor shaft 5, comprises a vertical axis 11 serving as a support for a height feeler member 12, for an ejector knife 13 of the disc played and . at. the element: 14 probe of the diameter of the following disc.
This vertical axis 11 is integral in rotation with a tube 15 in which it is liable to slide. This tube 15 is itself integral with the wheel 9. The sliding movement of the vertical axis 11 is controlled by a cam-bell 1.6 integral with the wheel 9. A roller 17 rolls on the contour of the cam. 16 and transmits its movements in height to said axis 11 by means of a lever with two arms 20, 21, pivoted at 19 on the frame of the machine. The roller 17 is pivotally mounted on the arm 20.
The arm 21 is bent and carries a roller 22 pivotally mounted on it and pressing on the vertical axis 11 by means of a plate 23 integral with the axis 11 and serving as a stop for a return spring 24. The tube 15, in which the vertical axis 17. can slide., Carries the toothed wheel 9 itself supporting the cam-bell 16 by means of studs 25. This tube 15 pivots in a bearing 26 integral with the frame of the machine. A nut 27 fixed to the upper end of the tube 15 serves as an axial stop for the latter in cooperation with a shoulder 28 provided at the lower end of the tube 15.
The height feeler member 12 and the ejector knife 13 are each formed of a blade. These two blades are fixed radially in the vicinity of the upper end of the axis 11 by one of their ends. These blades are angularly offset and axially spaced substantially the thickness of a disc.
The feeler element 14 is formed of a third blade, fixed axially on the vertical axis and arranged under the other two blades, _in a plane parallel to the planes thereof and at an axial distance from the ejector knife 13 substantially equal. half a disc thickness.
This feeler element 14 is held in the rest position under the ejector knife 13 by a spring 29, one end of which is fixed with respect to the axis 11, the other end being engaged in the pal element fear 14, which allows it to pivot at a certain angle about the axis 11. Means are. designed to block the element. 14 in the offset position when during a cycle 11 abuts against the edge of a large diameter disc.
These means consist of a locking finger 30: pivoted at the upper end of said vertical axis 11 and capable of engaging in a notch 31 that the feeler element 14 presents to keep it offset. Means are provided for unblocking the feeler element 14. They consist of a boss 32, provided on a fixed part of the machine, for example on the bearing 26.
This boss 32 is intended to lift the doif-t, locking 30 to remove it from the notch 31 of the element. probe 1.4, during the inactive angular travel of the probe-ejector device 3.
A latch 33 is provided to control the. positioning of a retaining stop limiting movement. angle of the pick-up arm 4 and determining its. position relative to the edge of a large diameter disc.
This flip-flop 33 is. pivoted on a 3-l axis fixed to the machine frame. A 3> end of this rocker is. disposed near the vertical axis 11; its other end 36 serves as a stop for the arm of the pick-up 4, when the latter must be placed in position for a large diameter disc.
In the rest or normal position, the end 35 of the rocker is raised; thus. the other end 36 does not act on the arm. of the pick-up 4 and: the portion of the latter is determined to play a disc. of small diameter, for example 25 cm, by a fixed stop 37.
When the feeler element 14 has been offset by abutting against the edge of a disc of large diameter, for example 30 cm (see fig. 1), it is held in position de- wedged by the. finger. lock 30 during the remainder of the cycle.
Due to its offset, the feeler element 14 will be. likely to abut against the end 35 of the. tilts during the downward movement of the probe-ejector device. End 36 of the. toggle will. therefore high and will serve as a stop for the arm of the pick-up 4 by determining its position for the large diameter disc.
The operation of the present talking machine is as follows: After having loaded the turntable with a stack of large and <small diameter disks, threaded on the axis of the center of the plate, the motor is started and placed the arm! of the pick-up on the edge of the first says that; all the following operations are then done automatically.
In fact, on the one hand, the wheel of cycles 7 (known way to control the return of the pick-up arm, when a disc has been played;
on the other hand, it drives in rotation through the center of the toothed wheel S and (the toothed wheel 9 the vertical axis 11 so that the latter undergoes a rotation of 360 each time the disc is changed The height probe organ 12, the ejector knife 1.3 and the feeler element 11, first of all in the base position, are. Raised during. The rotation of the axis 11, by the. Cam-bell 1.6, above the.
stack of records. Then the axis 11 is lowered until the key probe height 1? comes up against the upper face of the first disc played. The rotation of the axis 11 continuing, the ejector knife 13 passes under the played disc.
The cam-bell then controls an upward movement of the key axis 11; the record being played is therefore lifted out of the axis of the center of the turntable and. is thrown into a receptacle or magazine by the rotation of the turntable.
The cam-bell then controls a new movement of = scendant during which the diameter probe, if it has been offset by a large diameter disc, acts on the. Rocker 33. Each time the disc is changed, the cam-bell therefore controls two upward and downward movements of the feeler-ejector device. The position of the pick-up arm being determined by the. fixed stop 37 this one is. therefore ready to reproduce the following say ..
The cycle of operations described above is valid for the case where the following disc is a disc of small diameter.
In the event that the next disc is a large diameter disc, the cycle described above is completed in this case that when the ejector knife 13 goes. slide under the played disc; the feeler element 14 abuts against the edge of the next large diameter disc and is therefore offset with respect to its rest position where it is placed under the ejector knife 1.3.
During the ejection movement of the played disc, the vertical axis 11 being subjected to an upward movement, the feeler element 1.4 passes above the next disc. During the second downward movement of the axis 11, the feeler element 14, hand held offset by the locking finger 30, abuts against the end 35 of the rocker 33 and drives this end in its downward movement. Therefore, the end 36 of the. The rocker is raised and forms a stop for the pickup arm, thus determining its position to contact the edge of the large diameter disc.
Axis 11 continues. its rotational movement, the locking finger 30 is lifted by the boss 32 and releases the feeler element 14 which returns to its rest position under the ejector knife 13.
It emerges from the above description that the control mechanism of the feeler-eje device, cteur of the present machine is. greatly simplified and its size. is reduced compared to talking machines: of usual construction comprising not a rotary control device, but devices = positive. back and forth movement featuring complicated arm and lever assemblies.
