Machine parlante it plusieurs tables porte-disque.
Sur cette machine, plusieurs disques enre gistrés peuvent être joués successivement avec un intervalle quelconque voulu entre les disques respectifs. Contrairement à ce qui existe dans d'autres machines parlantes; il est fait usage, dans cette machine d'une ta ble distincte pour chaque disque; ces tables sont de préférence disposées en échelons;
Le dessin ci-joint représente à titre d'exem ple une forme d'exécution de l'objet de l'in vention, dans lequel Fig. 1 est un plan avec arrachements; cette figure représente quatre tables dont une est en position d'exécution sous le reproduc teur, les autres tables de l'ensemble complet étant omises pour la facilité de l'explication; Fig. 2 est une élévation du contrôleur et indicateur d'intervalle; Fig. 3 est une élévation d'un indicateur associé avec un dispositif au moyen duquel on effectue le réglage pour le placement du reproducteur sur des disques en vue d'assurer le début de l'exécution au commencement de la rainure du disque;

Talking machine has several disc-holder tables. The present invention relates to a talking machine with several disc-holder tables, in which the various discs necessary for hearing. of a recital are respectively mounted on separate tables which are successively brought to the desired position for the performance of the discs which they carry, and are withdrawn from this position, and that, at each change of position of the tables; the player is set in motion to disengage from the finished disc and engage with the next disc, brought into position to be played.
On this machine, several recorded discs can be played successively with any desired interval between the respective discs. Unlike what exists in other talking machines; use is made in this machine of a separate table for each disc; these tables are preferably arranged in steps;
the set of tables is advantageously arranged helically and the complete set of tables can be set in motion at each period or phase so that, when the execution of one of the discs is terminated, the movement of the 'together brings the table carrying the next disc into the running position, meshes the control elements with the table thus brought into position and holds the gear in engagement until the disc has been played and, at each change of position of all the tables, moves the player by lifting it from the final groove of the disc being played, rowing it to its starting position and bringing it down to the starting groove of the next disc to be played .
The apparatus preferably comprises means for adjusting the speed of execution; to leave a predetermined interval between the execution of successive discs; to adjust the control mechanism of the reproducer for the execution of discs of different diameters; to adjust the machine in relation to the width and position, with respect to the center of the disc, of the grooved surface of the latter and to minimize the transmission of mechanical vibration and noise to the disc during operation - cation, as well as other construction details which are described in detail below.
The various tables are advantageously mounted on several table carriers on which they are preferably arranged in a helix and overlapping each other, each table can in turn be brought into the active position with respect to the breeder which is, as usually carried by the end of an oscillating, free horn. All these tables can be meshed with a control element as they successively come to the execution position so that only that of them which is, at the time considered, held in the position of execution. running position is rotated by the gear. The surfaces of the tables are preferably arranged horizontally when in the running position.
The arrangement of the tables in a helical order, in echelon, on the table-holder saves space, minimizes the required range of motion of the reproducing arm or horn, and facilitates this movement to switch between a disc, on completion of the latter, to the disc which follows it, said movement preferably occurring simultaneously with the movement of change of position of the table-holder.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, in which FIG. 1 is a plan with cutouts; this figure shows four tables, one of which is in the execution position under the reproducer, the other tables of the complete set being omitted for ease of explanation; Fig. 2 is an elevation of the interval controller and indicator; Fig. 3 is an elevation of an indicator associated with a device by means of which adjustment is effected for the placement of the reproducer on discs in order to ensure the start of the performance at the beginning of the groove of the disc;

The parts and devices shown in fig. 14 and 15 will be described separately. The illustrated embodiment carries nine tables each intended to carry a recorded disc and mounted in a helical arrangement in circular echelon on a table carrier capable of rotating, which performs a helical movement with each change.
The mechanism shown in Figs. 1 and 4 is enclosed in a box provided with doors in each of its walls to allow access to the interior parts; two of these gates are shown. The mechanical parts are mounted in a frame enclosed in this box.
The set of tables is established on a floating post 20, placed vertically, around which are arranged symmetrically, in a helix, a number of arms 21, corresponding to the number of tables with which the machine is provided. Each of these arms forms a support for a disc holder table 22, provided with a pivot 23 with a projection 24, at the top, to form a centering guide for the disc 25.
Below a bearing surface provided in a boss 26 for the pivot 23, the latter is provided with a control disc 27, with a bevelled edge and the lower end of the pivot 23 ends in a conical point 28, resting on a shoe 29 which is established in the form of a cam to facilitate the height adjustment of the table by a displacement of the arm 30, on which this shoe is mounted, on the oscillating shaft 134. L The lower end of the floating post 20 slides in a tubular sleeve 32 which is mounted on a frame 34. This sleeve is split helically, as shown at 33, the pitch of the helical slot corresponding to that of the following helix where the arms 21 are arranged, these arms working in said slot as the assembly moves.
The post 20 rotates, in its downward movement, thus bringing each of the arms 21 successively to a certain position, the set of tables then being temporarily engaged by a mechanism which will be described later. The weight of the post 20 and the parts supported by it is carried, in part, by a flexible cable 35 passing over pulleys 36 and as subject to the top of the post by an emeril lon 37; the other end of the cable 35 is attached to the counterweight 88 which is insufficient to balance the post and the parts carried by it so that when the set of tables is triggered it descends and turns.
The records that are on the various tables are played or played, successively starting with the lowest table and continuing from bottom to top, in helical order, table by table, until the whole series of discs were. played, or until as many of these discs as are needed for one, recital, "or audition of a complete piece, have been played.
As each arm, carrying its table, comes into coincidence above the control and retaining mechanism, it is stopped in this position by a latching device. the beveled disc 27 coming at the same time into engagement with the friction control cone 39. This cone is rotated by the control shaft 40 and it is mounted on an extension 42 which is connected to this shaft by a universal joint 44, (fig. 9).
Since the table is not meshed with the mechanism, except by the friction cones 27 and 39, and since the universal joint 44 offers some freedom of movement to the shaft extension 42, this table is not subjected to any serious vibration. and the clarity of reproduction is not affected. The shaft extension 42 is supported in a bearing 45, on the end of the arm 46, which pivots on a transverse axis 47 and is supported by a coil spring 48.
The cone 39 is therefore free to rest on its own, elastically, against the disc 27, the spring 48 holding it in engagement so that a predetermined pressure is exerted on the drive face, ensuring good transmission: The shaft 40 is rotated by a gear 50, 51 deriving its control from an electric motor 52. In FIG. 5: 53 and 54 denote the terminals of a stack 61; 54 is connected to a switch arm 55, cooperating with a shoe 56 to connect the battery to one of the terminals of the motor 52, the other terminal of which is connected, by two wires, to the terminal 53.
One of these wires, 62, is connected, through the intermediary of the mass of the frame, to the regulator disc 58; the other, 63, is connected to the arm 64 of a rheostat. The terminal pad of the rheostat is connected to wire 65 which is also connected to contacts 59, - 53. The rheostat is adjusted to control the speed at the desired value. If the speed slows down, the governor disc 58 contacts 59 and establishes a bypass through the wire 65, thereby turning off the rheostat and increasing the speed of the motor; excess speed is controlled by the adjustment of the brake shoe 60 relative to the disc 58. This brake shoe is brought to the desired position by a screw and lever control device 205 (fig. 6).
70 designates a worm cut on the shaft 40 (FIG. 9) and meshing with a worm wheel 71, mounted on a shaft 72 on which is keyed a pinion 74 in the form of a drum. This pinion 74 meshes with a toothed wheel 75 fixed on a shaft 76 which also carries a tam bour pinion 77, which can mesh with a plain rack 1st 78 cut on the underside of a rocking carriage 79. This carriage is mounted on the bottom. means of sliding sleeves 80, on a sleeve 81 enclosing the shaft 40 but is split to allow the wheel 71 to mesh with the worm 70.
Normally, the carriage 79 is held against a stop, provided on the support frame 106, by a flexible cable 82, placed under tension and connected with a mechanism, hereinafter described, which is associated with the withdrawal mechanism and. to replace the cone. The carriage tilts back, in antagonism to the tension of the cable 82, under the effect of a lever 83 when the tail of this lever is encountered by the arm 84. This rocking movement is performed automatically, at the end the execution of a disc, to allow the carriage 79 to be brought back, by the cable 82, to the starting position, which is the internal position, close to the cone 39.
The rotation of the shaft 40, transmitted through the gear train 70, 71, 74, 75 and 77 to the rack 78, acts to move the carriage 79 outwards, thereby pulling even on the cable 82 and by charging the return spring in position 170, (fig. 6).
The outer end of each of the arms 21 is split vertically, as shown at 90 (Fig. A). Above the slot, a pin 91 is mounted in end surfaces 92, 93. This pin is helically grooved, at 94. A finger 95, sliding in the slot 90, is carried by a sleeve 96 provided internally with 'a lug engaged with the groove 94. On its outer end, the axis 91 carries a lever 97 (see fig. 7) working on a dial 98 which is graduated to correspond to the number of grooves of a disc of width extreme. The measurement of the grooves is taken by placing a graduated rule 99 on the disc 25, as seen in FIG. 8.
The ruler is divided to correspond to the divisions of dial 98. By moving lever 97 to the number which on the dial corresponds to the known distance that the final groove of the disc is from the center of it, this brings finger 95 at a corresponding position in the slot 90. The lower end of this finger forms a stopper and a knocker; its side is in contact with the remote side of the carriage 79 and its end, which is established in the form of a chin, can engage with the heel 100 of an angled lever whose active end 101 touches a bar 102, carried by a curved lever 103, which pivots 104 on a console 105 of the frame 106. The rear end of this lever 103 is provided with a spring mount 107, which acts to push the bar 102 from the bottom up.
A connecting rod 109 connects an arm 108 of the lever 103 to a stop 110, pivotally mounted. When the heel 100 of the angled lever 100-101 is depressed, the bar 102 is pushed back up and down, the spring 107 is compressed and the stop 110 is thus put out of the way of a latching finger 112 mounted on an axis 113. On this axis is keyed a pinion 111 whose teeth are interrupted at a certain point, that is to say at the point where the finger 112 is brought against the top of the stop 110.
The axle 113 carries, at its outer end, a cam 120 which engages an arm 121 and acts to raise and lower this arm and thus cause, through the link 122, the axle 123 to oscillate. Tensioned coil spring 124 is connected to an eccentric point on the side of the cam 120 and acts to rotate the axle 113 in the direction indicated by the arrow in FIG. 6; this movement of the axis 113 is prevented as long as the stop 110 remains engaged under the finger 112 and, under these conditions, there is no engagement between the interrupted toothed pinion 114 and the toothed wheel 115 which is idle on shaft 76, on which is also insane a pin 125.
Clutch claws or hooks 126 are formed on the inner end of the pinion 125 and similar hooks 127 exist on the inner end of the hub of the wheel 115. With these hooks 126 and 127 can engage hooks which do so. constitute the cons = parts and which are formed on the clutch sleeve 128. This sleeve can slide end on the shaft 76; but it is mounted with tongue and groove sVr this one, so as to be forced to turn with it and it can be brought into engagement, through the intermediary of the clutch hooks, - either with the wheel 115 or with the pinion 125. The change movement is effected by means of a fork 129 which engages in a groove of the sleeve 128.
The fork 129 is set in motion by a connecting rod 131 and buffer springs 132 are arranged on each side of the fork to allow a lost movement on the connecting rod 131 which is born, to move the sleeve, by the arm 84 mounted on it. a lever arm 133 which is attached to a swing shaft 134. The arm 84 is normally held in an upright position by the action of a coil spring 136 which connects an ear 137, located on one side of the lug. 'shaft 134, at a fixed point 138 of the frame. The outer end of the lever arm 133 can engage with a stopper 139, provided on an oscillating trigger 140.
With the finger 141, of this trigger, can engage an offset pin 142, mounted on the side of a toothed wheel 143 which is fixed to a pin 144 on which is wound a coil spring 145, one end of which is fixed. to the wheel 143, at 150, while its other end is subject to a fixed point 146 of the frame. At its remote end, the axle 144 carries a disc 151, which is fixed to it and is armed with an offset pin 152. This pin takes in an annular groove which, provided in the face of the angle wheel 147; is interrupted at a point. With the wheel 147 engages another angle wheel 148 which is fixed on an axis 149 extending through the body and carrying, at its end, a lever arm 130 which is fixed therein and works on a dial 135.
During the execution of a disc, the clutch sleeve 128 is disengaged from the pinion 125. It is therefore possible, consequently, to rotate the wheel 143, by means of the gear 147-148, in order to adjust the speed. position of the ankle 142 relative to the finger 141 of the trigger. This setting depends on the interval between the end of the execution of a disc and the start of the execution of the next disc. The adjustment can be made so that the passage from one disc to another is immediate; or it can be done for any desired interval of seconds or minutes between hearings. of two consecutive discs.
When the adjustment is to provide an immediate succession of hearings, the pin 142 is placed very close to the finger 141 so that, immediately after the clutch sleeve 128 has been brought into engagement with the pinion 125, the movement of Rotation applied to the wheel 143 immediately brings the ankle 142 into contact with the finger 141 of the trigger, which produces a movement of the latter which releases the lever arm 133 from the stopper 139 and allows this arm to get up.
If, on the other hand, the peg 142 is initially adjusted, by the manipulation of the lever 130, so that the wheel 143 must turn a considerable angle before this contact occurs, a considerable period of time s 'elapses before the release of the lever 133 takes place. The triggering of this lever depends on certain operations of the control mechanism for replacing the reproducer on a disc which has just been brought into the running position.
While the carriage 79 is in its normal position, the pinion 77 meshes with the rack 78 and the rotation of this pinion causes the carriage to move outwards, its hubs 80 sliding on the sleeve 81 which closes the shaft. 40. However, when the arm 133 is depressed, the arm 84, by acting against the tail of the lever 83, forces the latter to tilt the carriage sufficiently to lift the rack 78 and disengage it from the pinion 77. The cable 82 , which is under tension, then acts immediately to slide the carriage 79 inwardly along the socket 81, thereby returning it to its starting position.
As the execution of a disc continues, the carriage is moved outward again by the rotation of pinion 77, acting on rack 78 until the final position is reached; then, the lever 83 acts again to trigger the carriage and allow it to be returned to the starting point. The tension is maintained on the cable 82 by means of a coil spring 170 which connects the lever arm 171 to a part 172 of the frame. A crank 173, provided on the arm 171, carries the end of the cable 82. Urie ankle 174 which constitutes the pivot for the lever 171 173, is mounted on a console 175 of the frame, which console carries an arm 176 on a pivot 177 .
On the outer end of this arm carries a finger 178, provided with a roller at either end; this finger protrudes from an arm 179 which acts to rotate a short axis 218 on the end of which is fixed a cam 219 which acts to raise the horn, or to allow it to descend, around its knobs 180, according to the lever movement, thereby to lift the reproducer needle 200 from the disc 25 when the finger 178 is lifted and to allow that needle to descend back down on a disc when the finger in question is lowered.
The horn and the lever 176 descend under the action of gravity; but they are positively raised by the arm 182 which is fixed on the oscillating axis 123. Another arm 184, mounted on the axis 123, is connected by read, connecting rod 122 with the arm 121 on which the cam 120 acts. stop arm 190, extending forwards, in a horizontal direction, from the base of the horn, carries its outer end titi sabot 191.
This shoe is engaged with a little man with res out 192, the position of which is adjusted by means of the dial device 193 which acts to rotate the rod 194 of the man in, -on housing 195, housing which is helically grooved to obtain a forward or backward movement, depending on the direction of rotation.
The man acts like a buffer to stop the oscillation of the horn towards the outside at a point which corresponds with the positioning of the needle, on the disc, slightly beyond the starting groove; when the needle rests on the disc, the man's spring is just strong enough to push that man forward and thus move the reproducer transversely on the disc to bring the needle into the first groove.
This adjustment is necessary to determine the external angular stop position of the horn so as to correspond with the radial position of the external groove on the record to be played; the dial device is shown in fig.3. When, for example, we want to play, or perform, a 10 cm disc, we must adjust the man 192 inwards so that it acts as a buffer to prevent the arm 190 from swinging outwards. farther than the position which corresponds with the setting in radial position, for 10 centimeters, of the needle of the reproducer in the starting groove of the disc.
Likewise, to play a 12-centimeter disc, one must adjust the stamper outward to allow the horn 201 to move outward to the starting position of a 12-centimeter disc. Precise adjustment is facilitated by the adjacent fractional subdivisions of the indicator dial 10. This is necessary because discs vary not only in diameter, but also in the radial, internal and external positions of the final groove and the starting groove. in these discs respectively.
On the end of each of the arms 21, there is provided a stop device to engage with the contact roller 223 provided on the switch 55 in order to thereby open the motor circuit and thus stop the pivot 23 to end the hearing.
This device consists of an oscillating finger 220 mounted to perform a horizontal movement on a pin 221 and provided with a locking device 222, to hold it either in its withdrawn position, as shown in solid lines in FIG. 6, or in the extended position so that it comes into engagement with the contact 223, as is also shown, in dotted lines, in this figure. The inner end of each of the arms 21 is also provided with a knocker 225. This knocker is set to engage, as it passes, with a trigger arm 226 which pivots, at 227, on a bracket 228 provided. on the end of the swing shaft 134.
The trigger arm 226 is normally held in the active position by a spring 229. In the progression of the set of tables, the stopper 225 engages with the arm 226 and gives an oscillating movement to the shaft. 7.34, thereby tensioning the spring 136 and tilting the lever 133 up and down. In the return movement (carried out by hand) in which the floating post 20 is rotated, all of the The tables move helically up and down and all tables are brought above and below the controller and the trigger arm 226 yields elastically to the passage of the knockers 225.
The operation of the machine is as follows Assuming that the floating post 20 has been turned in the opposite direction, by hand, so as to bring all the tables above the control and command mechanism, the arm The lowest 21 is stopped by the engagement of finger 95 with the side of the carriage 79. Assuming one wants to play, or perform, a 10 centimeter disc, the dial device 193 is correctly set at the 10 centimeter scale. , to adjust in a corresponding way the man-spring buffer 192.
The fork 231 is also adjusted on the pin 233 by "10 centimeters" - and, by means of the arm 97, the stop 95 is placed so as to adjust the trigger mechanism of the tables to the required position and the finger is adjusted. 'engagement 112 so as to provide clearance for rotation of the axis 113 before said finger engages with the pivoting stop 110. After the parts have started to rotate, this finger is brought into contact with it. stop 110, which occurs as soon as the horn has been lowered to allow the reproducer needle to enter the groove of the disc.
The player's needle is then above the outer groove of the record and the motor is started by closing switch 55. However, in the meantime, assuming the records require playing immediately. 'one after the other, without appreciable interval between each disc and the next, the lever 130 is moved to adjust the wheel 143 so that its pin 142 holds the trigger finger 141, released by means of the lever 133; as shown, play or clearance is left between peg 142 and trigger finger 141 to allow a short gap between successive disc executions.
Carriage. 79 is automatically brought at the beginning of the piece, or recital, to its most inward position. The rotation of the shaft 40, via the gear 50-51 and the worm 70 as well as the helical gear 71, rotates the pinion 74 and; via the latter, the wheel 75 and the pinion 77; the latter, by acting on the rack i8, determines a slow movement of the carriage towards the outside, corresponding to the traversing movement of the needle of the reproducer across the disk, the stop finger 95, provided on the arm 21, meanwhile bearing against the side of the carriage.
When the needle reaches the final grooves of the disc, the finger 95 engages the heel 100 of the release lever, which forces the end 101 thereof to bear up and down on the bar 102 in thereby tilting the lever 103 and pulling the stop 110 inwards, thus releasing the latching finger 112 provided on the axis 11.3; this axis immediately makes a fraction of a turn under the action of the spring 124, so that the pinion 114 is brought into engagement with the toothed wheel 115 mounted on the shaft 75. In this fraction of a turn of the axis 113, the cam 120 is brought to the position at which it will begin to raise the arm 121.
The continued rotation of this cam in the direction of clockwise movement (see arrow, fig. 12) by axis 113 raises arms 121 and 184, with the result that the oscillating axis 123 rotates slightly, lifting the arm 182 and, through it, the arm 176 and, in turn, the arm 179 (fig. 10). The horn 201 is thus raised so that the needle of the reproducer is raised from the disc. The res out 230 supports the arm 179 in contact with the arm 176. The horn 201 is moved across the disc by the fact that the needle of the reproducer follows the groove of the latter. The fork 231 which pivots at 232 on the end of the lever 171, holds in its jaw the vertical pin 233 provided on the stop arm 190.
As the carriage 79 is moved outwards by the operation of the mechanism already described, the flexible cable 82 is pulled by it, with the result that the elbow lever 171-173 is set in motion in antagonism to the traction of the spring 170, and that the forked arm 231 is moved from the outside to the inside. Therefore, the horn is allowed to oscillate from out to in to accommodate the traversing movement effected by the reproducer needle following the spiral groove of the disc. A second pin 233, mounted on the stop arm 190, is used for an adjustment for a disc of 12 centimeters, and the other ankle 233, for an adjustment for a disc of 10 centimeters.
If discs of other diameters are used, other appropriately arranged pins are provided on the arm 190. To play, or perform, a common type of record having the corrugations at the bottom of the groove and not in the sides thereof, an eyelet 234 is provided on the fork head 231; this detail makes it possible to obtain a positive adjustment of the parts. When the reproducer needle has reached the end of the running disc, the inner end of the carriage 70 passes the finger 95; the arm 21, carrying the table on which the disc which has just been played is located, is thus freed from the engagement which prevented the rotation of the table system and this whole system then descends, helically, by a notch.
When the arm 21 has passed over the carriage 79, the hour toir 225, which it carries, engages the trigger arm 226, as it passes, and gives the oscillating shaft 134 an oscillating movement of a few degrees. . This oscillating movement lowers the lever 133 to the locked position in the notch 139, thereby tilting the arm 84 which momentarily pushes on the lever 83 and this pushing movement causes the carriage to tilt sideways so that the rack 78, provided on its underside is momentarily free from the drive pinion 77.
As soon as this disengagement occurs, the spring 170, acting through the cable 82 and the lever system connected to it, pulls the carriage inwards and returns it to the starting point so that it is restored in position before the arm 21, following the reaches; the helical movement of the table system is thus stopped when the stop finger 95 comes into contact with the side of the carriage. The rotation of the wheel 143 brings the pin 142 into contact with the finger 1.41 of the trigger and releases the lever 133 from the notch 139. In the upward movement, the connecting rod 131 is actuated such that, by means of the fork 129 , it disengages the clutch sleeve 128 from the wheel 115 and brings it into engagement with the pinion 125.
In the position in which the lever 133 is locked by the detent 139, it holds the hooks 126 in engagement and, therefore, the rotational movement of the shaft 76 is transmitted to the wheel 143. As, due due to the immediate proximity of the ankle 142 and the finger 141, a very slight movement of the wheel is sufficient to release the notch 139, in this case, the lever 133 is allowed to rise under the action of the spring 136 , to its upper position and, while this is being done, a movement of the arm 84 in the opposite direction occurs, with the result that the clutch sleeve 128 is engaged in the opposite direction and the wheel 115 is again engaged in the reverse direction. 'tree 76.
The pinion 114 and the shaft 113 are thus rotated so that the cam 120 is set in motion to allow the arm 121 to descend. This movement of the arms of the arm 121, by acting through the intermediary of the oscillating shaft 123 and the arms 182, 176 and 179, effect a gradual lowering of the horn until the needle rests on it again. the grooves of the disc, to the starting position. While the cone is raised ,. a clearance is offered below it, for the movement of the ashes of the table carrying the played disc.
It will be noted that, after the horn has been raised in the manner described, it oscillates outwards, to come to the starting position, under the action of the spring 170 in the same movement as that in which this spring acts. to return the carriage 79 to the starting point.
By adjusting finger 95 to a position corresponding to any starting point other than the starting groove of a disc, and correspondingly adjusting the position of stamper 192, the machine can be arranged to start the execution of a disc in any intermediate position. This, however, will not be necessary in practice; but the same device can be used to set the machine to work with discs of any diameter, from minimum mum to maximum, and having respectively their recording grooves located differently for starting and ending positions, relative to the center of the disc.
When it is desired to provide an interval between the end of the execution of a disc and the beginning of the execution of the next disc, this interval is arranged by means of the lever 130 which is actuated so as to adjust the peg. 142 at an appropriate distance from finger 141 of the thimble so that a corresponding amount of time necessary for the rotation of the parts according to the speed of the engine elapses before the lever 133 is released to allow the carriage to return to the horizontal position, or level, in order to put the rack 78 in engagement with the pinion 77.
To save space, we can omit the floating post 20 and then connect together, in series, the arms, 21, supporting the tables to form a helical assembly, as shown in FIGS. 14 and 15. This arrangement makes it possible to cover the tables in a more compact arrangement than is possible when they are located around a central support, as in FIG. 1. In the arrangement of fig. 14 and 15, the lower end of the set of tables ends with a centering guide and the upper end is suspended and balanced in the same way as in fig. 4.
But, in this case, the guide rod 210 is helically grooved and works in a tubular sleeve 211 carrying a town plug 212 engaged in the helical groove 213 of the rod 210. A modification, relating to the control mechanism, consists of mounting a friction wheel 214, controlled by the motor 52 and placed so as to engage with the periphery of the table carrying the disk running under the support pressure 215.
