Machine for machining worm wheels. The present invention relates to a machine for machining worm wheels.
The machine according to the invention comprises a bent shaft, oscillating, arranged stationary on the frame and carrying in its bend the tool itself as well as a table, movable in the rectilinear alternate native direction, transversely with respect to the plane of oscillation of said bent shaft, depending on the oscillatory movement of the latter, provided with a height-adjustable support, in which is housed a rotating shaft, arranged transversely with respect to the bent shaft and supporting the wheel to be machined as well an interchangeable model mother wheel, an interchangeable model mother screw being arranged in a rotating but stationary manner on the frame,
meshing with the mother wheel and receiving an automatic intermittent rotary movement by a divider, with a view to imparting a rotary movement corresponding to the wheel being machined.
One embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic elevational view of the envisaged machine, seen in length, FIG. 2 a section following .1-B fig. 1, FIG. 3 a detailed section through the wheel holder on a larger scale, FIG. 4 a schematic view relating to a detail of the operation of the wheel holder.
Referring to the figures above, the machine consists of a frame or cradle 1 on which can slide a table 2. On this table 2 is fixed a doll 3, fixed, adjustable in height in such a way that one can mesh mother wheels such as 4 of different sizes or types with corresponding mother screws such as 5, the mother wheel 4 being interchangeably disposed, on a shaft 14, rotatably supported by the tailstock 3 and supporting d 'on the other hand the wheel 13 to be machined, while the lead screw 5 is secured to the cradle 1 by means of two supports G also preventing any lateral play. It goes without saying that one can provide a support device of the workpiece, between centers.
Two other supports 7 also integral with the cradle 1 hold the grinding apparatus 8 which will be described below.
Finally a -last support 9 in which the guide nut 10 is rigidly held is itself integral with the table 2. The pulleys 11 and 12 arranged on the support shaft 93 and rotating in the opposite direction are intended to give the device 8 a native alter movement.
Air instead of belts, or friction discs, we can have a balance or eccentric titi 94, so as to communicate air arm 95, integral with the device 8, a reciprocating movement and thus give the trajectory of the grinding wheel 81 l desired amplitude.
The grinding device 8, fig. 3, consists of a crankshaft in which slides a toothed tube 86 allowing the grinding wheel 81 to be fixed in a determined position in order to obtain the same pitch diameter as the mother screw 5 which meshes with the mother wheel 4. The grinding wheel 81 of which the angle is equivalent to that of the sides of the aforementioned screw is maintained on a shaft 91 by the nut 82.
This shaft 91 rotating at a speed of 15 to 20,000 rpm in two nozzles 83 and 92 liters, is prevented from moving axially with respect to these nozzles by two stops i'r, balls 84 and 88 and receives its rotational movement via the pulley 90. A screw or pinion 87, interlocking with the toothed nozzle 86, enables the grinding wheel 81 to be brought to the full stroke by means of a ratchet wheel 89 com requested by the machine.
The pinion 13 to be ground is fixed on the shaft 14. At the end of the shaft, a mother pinion 4 is placed with a corresponding pitch diameter so that the two developments are equivalent.
In the support 9 is embedded the nut 10 whose pitch corresponds to that of the screw to mesh with the wheel to be ground 13. It goes without saying that the lead screw 5 corresponds to the nut 10; the pulleys 11 and 12 will be adjusted so that the oscillations of the shaft 93 are such that the grinding wheel 81 comes out of the teeth and ire can prevent the pinion 13 from turning when the division is to be done and this through the intermediary of the divider 15 .
The machine being threaded, the device 8 is actuated, then the shaft 93 of this device, the grinding wheel 81 rotates around its own axis and further describes alter native revolutions with the bent shaft 93 causing avarice and retraction of the table 2. The pinion 4 in contact with the screw -a causes the reciprocating rotation of the pinion 13 to be rectified. When a tooth is ground, the divider 15 is actuated automatically so that the division being. done, the next tooth comes into contact with the grinding wheel 81.
As mentioned above, fig. 4 schematically represents a constructive variant of the mechanism giving the shaft 93 the movement. oscillatory necessary, so that the grinding wheel or tool 81 can work the teeth in the direction of the length of the latter.
It goes without saying that it is possible to make certain modifications to the subject of the invention and to add certain details or black adjustment devices shown in the schematic figures in the drawing, without for this one deviates from the idea of the invention. Thus the pulleys 11, 12 can advantageously be alternately engaged with and disengaged- from the shaft 93, by a clutch and disengagement mechanism, connected to the mobile table 2, for example. air support 9 integral with the latter.
This more robustly constructed machine can also cut worm wheels as well as sectors or the like with a suitable cutter.
It is also possible to cut the endless screw wheels and the like either with a milling cutter, or with a tool or rather blade title, the profile of which is that of the hollow of the screw; in this case the device would work by planing air instead of milling.
