Grinding device for helical teeth. The object of the present invention is a grinding device for helical teeth. This device is characterized by an orientable guide intended to be fixed to the frame of a grinding machine and by a connecting member intended to be mounted integrally with the table of this machine and cooperating, on the one hand, with the guide and , on the other hand, with the headstock shaft of the machine carrying the object to be ground, so that any translational movement of the table determines a rotational movement of the headstock shaft corresponding to the pitch of the teeth helical grinding wheel.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device forming the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1, 2 and 3 are elevation, plan and profile views.
In the embodiment shown, the device is assumed to be mounted on a universal sharpening machine, of which only part of the frame 1 and of the work table 2 is shown. Table 2 carries a doll 3 in the hollow shaft of which is fixed the shank of a helical milling cutter 4. At its other end, this hollow shaft carries a crank pin 5 whose spring finger engages in the holes d. 'a divider plate 6. This plate is integral with a toothed wheel 7 which can turn freely on the hollow shaft.
A housing 8 removably fixed to the headstock contains a toothed wheel 9 able to rotate freely on an axis 10 with the pinion 11 of which it is integral and engages with the wheel 7. This housing also has a rectangular slide in which can slide a bar 12, one end of which is cut into a rack and cooperates with the pin 11 and the other end of which carries a roller 13.
The frame 1 carries an angled support 14 fixed by two screws 15 and the horizontal part of which has a longitudinal T-shaped groove 16. This groove is used for fixing a base plate 17 by means of a bolt 18. This The plate carries a guide which can be oriented in the horizontal plane around its pivot 20 and which can be locked in the desired position by means of a clamping lever 21. This guide has a guide groove 22 cooperating with the roller 13.
The operation of the device shown is as follows: The sharpening cutter moves longitudi nally in front of the grinding wheel, not shown, under the action of the control of the table 2. The roller 13 then moves in the guide groove 22 which to it. gives a transverse movement causing the rotation of the pinion 11. This rotational movement is transmitted by the wheel 9 to the wheel 7 integral with the divider plate. The latter drives the crank pin 5 integral with the shaft carrying the milling cutter and thus gives the latter the desired helical movement. To go from one tooth to the next, all you have to do is remove the spring finger from the crankpin and turn the crankpin by the angle corresponding to the pitch of the teeth.
The object having the helical toothing to be ground can naturally also be mounted between centers.
The advantage of this device is that it can be quickly mounted on a grinding machine and ensures high precision thanks to the simplicity and robustness of its various elements.
