Planing apparatus The present invention relates to a planing apparatus.
This apparatus is characterized by the fact that it comprises a drive motor, a shaft rotatably mounted on its support, a cutting tool mounted on said shaft eccentrically with respect to the axis thereof, and a link mechanism between the motor and the shaft, arranged so as to transform the rotary movement of the motor into an oscillating movement of the shaft, and consequently of the tool, all in such a way that the latter can perform the planing of cylindrical, convex or concave surfaces.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a planing device mounted on the headstock of a machine tool, and FIG. 2 is a section taken along line I1-11 of FIG. 1.
The planer shown comprises a shaft 1 rotatably mounted inside a quill 2. This latter is shown attached to the headstock 3 of a machine tool, in which it is locked by means of a tie rod. 4.
A cutting tool 5 is held stationary in a radial slide 6 provided by a tool support 7, in the form of a bracket, mounted on one of the ends of the shaft 1. The position of the tool is eccentric by relative to the axis of the shaft. An adjustment screw 8 is used to move the tool in the slide, which makes it possible to vary the eccentricity of the tool with respect to the axis of the shaft 1 and, therefore, to vary the radius of curvature of the machined surface.
A drive motor 9 is mounted on a support 10, in the form of a plate, itself fixed to the quill 2. A pulley 11, mounted on the shaft 12 of the motor 9, is connected by a belt 13 to a flange. 14 rotatably mounted on the support 10. This flange 14 carries a crank 15 arranged so that its position on the flange can be varied radially, by means of an adjusting screw 16. A flange 17 is fixed to the flange. end of the shaft 1 opposite to that carrying the tool 5. This flange 17 carries a fixed crank pin 18 connected to the adjustable crank pin 15 by a connecting rod 19.
The motor 9 rotatably drives the pulley 12 which transmits its movement to the flange 14 through the intermediary of the belt 13. The length of the connecting rod 19 and the eccentricity of the crankpins is chosen so that the continuous rotary movement of the flange 14 is Transformed in an oscillating movement of the flange 17 and, consequently, of the tool 5. The mechanism is covered with a protective head 20.
By changing the position of the adjustable crankpin 15, it is possible to vary the amplitude of the oscillations of the shaft 1 and, consequently, the stroke of the cutting tool 5. In addition, the angular position of the support from which til 7 on shaft 1 is adjustable. The apparatus described and shown makes it possible to plan a convex cylindrical surface of a part fixed to the table of the machine tool, designated by 21, located opposite the tool 5.
By moving the jib crane 7 by 180o on the shaft 1 and by turning the tool 5 in the slide 6 of the jib crane, the device is put in a position to plan concave surfaces.
