Abstract

L'invention concerne des biocatalyseurs contenant des microorganismes qui comprennent une grande population des microorganismes retenue de façon irréversible à l'intérieur des biocatalyseurs. Les biocatalyseurs possèdent une population étonnamment stable de microorganismes et montrent une quasi-absence de production de débris dérivés de l'activité métabolique des microorganismes. Les biocatalyseurs sont composés d'un polymère hautement hydrophile et ont une structure poreuse interne ouverte qui favorise les changements phénotypiques de la communauté.
