Abstract

"PROCESSOS PARA A PRODUçãO DE HIDRóXIDO DE NìQUEL, E PARA A CONVERSãO DO METAL NìQUEL A GRANEL EM SULFATO DE NìQUEL". Uma realização preferida da invenção atual apresenta um processo para a produção de sulfato de níquel, através da conversão do metal níquel em sulfato de níquel, o qual poderá ser convertido a hidróxido de níquel. O metal níquel é dissolvido em ácido sulfúrico, e é introduzido gás contendo oxigênio para produzir uma solução de sulfato de níquel tendo sulfato de níquel e água, conforme ilustrado na equação química seguinte. Ni + H~ 2~SO~ 4~ -> NiSO~ 4~ + H~ 2~O. O sulfato de níquel é filtrado e o ácido sulfúrico é adicionado continuamente para manter a estequiométrica dentro de um reator até que o metal níquel seja dissolvido. O ácido sulfúrico, o gás contendo oxigênio e o metal níquel poderão ser aquecidos para facilitar a reação desejada. Então, o sulfato de níquel poderá ser utilizado para produzir hidróxido de níquel.
