Abstract

"PARTìCULAS BIOCIDAS DE HIDANTOìNA POLIESTIRêNICA ALTAMENTE RETICULADAS". Descreve-se um método para preparar hidantoínas de poliestireno halogenadas biocidas. Os polímeros biocidas poli-1,3-dicloro-5-metil-5-(4<39>-vinil-fenil)-hidantoína, poli-1,3-dibromo-5-metil-5-(4<39>-vinil-fenil)-hidantoína, e seus sais de metais alcalinos e derivados protonados mono-halogenados foram preparados como pérolas porosas usando pérolas de poliestireno altamente reticuladas como materiais de partida. As pérolas porosas serão úteis em aplicações de desinfecção de água e ar, quando empregadas em filtros de cartucho e garrafas (para água), bem como para controlar odores nocivos quando misturadas com materiais absorventes em artigos tais como fraldas descartáveis, fraldões de incontinência, bandagens, absorventes higiênicos, protetores de calcinhas, coberturas de colchões, palmilhas, esponjas, esteiras de dormir para animais, carpetes, panos, e filtros de ar, ou similares.
