"PROCESSO PARA PREPARAçãO DE CETONAS, E, COMPOSIçãO DE RESINA DE TROCA IÈNICA POLISSULFONADA". é divulgado um processo para preparar cetonas com melhor rendimento e seletividade, quando comparado com o de reações catalisadas anteriores do tipo condensação catalisada por ácido, usando um catalisador de resina de troca iónica polissulfonada dopada com metal. Por exemplo, o uso de resinas de troca iónica polissulfonada tendo 5,0 miliequivalentes de grupos ácido sulfónico/g de catalisador e carregadas com metal, como paládio, provê rendimentos melhorados de metil isobutil cetona, a partir da reação de condensação de acetona, comparado ao uso de catalisadores de resina de troca iónica monossulfonada convencionais.
