<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Metalliferous Azo Dyes and Their Preparation."
The present invention relates to novel and interesting metalliferous azo dyes and a process for preparing such dyes. It relates more particularly to mezallic complexes derived from azo dyes corresponding to the formula: F - An in which F represents an azo dye molecule containing a group capable of forming metal complexes and also at least one water-solubilizing group. , A represents the group:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
-SO2 - CÀE2 CH2 - oso3H -so 2 - CH2 = CH2 or -SO2 - CH2 - CH2 - ci and n the number 1 or 2.
The Applicant has found that novel and interesting metalliferous azo dyes are obtained by reacting metal donor agents with azo dyes which contain a group capable of forming metal complexes, as well as one or two groups taken from among The following :
EMI2.2
- SO2 - CH - 1, H2 ¯ OSOH, - SOZ - CH = CH2 or - SOZ - CH2 - CHZ - Cl and also at least one water-solubilizing group, such as for example the sulphonic or carboxylic group.
As azo dyes capable of forming complex metal compounds, it is possible to envisage, for example,
EMI2.3
o.ol-dihydroxyazoic, o-hydroxy-ot-carboxyazoic, o-hydroxy-o'-aminoazole dyes, / o-hydroxy-ot-alkoxyazoic dyes which, upon formation of the metal salt, turn into o.o'-dihydro-azo dyes; it is also possible to envisage o-hydroxy-o'- dyes
EMI2.4
(0 -carboxymethoxy) -azoles as well as o-hydroazole dyes which transform into o.ol-dihydroxyazole dyes during oxidative metallization. As the metal donor agents, compounds of copper, cobalt, chromium and nickel can be used.
The conversion of these azole dyes into metalliferous azo dyes can preferably be carried out at elevated temperature both in neutral solution and in weakly acidic solution.
Of particular importance are the metalliferous azo dyes obtained according to the present invention which carry the anionoid sulfonic group in the side chain. These dyes have a very good solubility in water and it is
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
therefore, they are especially suitable as printing dyes which require high solubility in water.
The new dyes can be used to dye and print various fibrous materials, particularly cotton, viscose and fibran materials. The dyes and prints obtained with the metal azo dyes are distinguished by good to very good wet fastness properties, because the vinylsulonic group already present or which is formed during dyeing, combines in an alkaline medium with the material. fibrous containing cellulose.
The following examples illustrate the present invention, without however limiting it; quantities are by weight, unless otherwise specified.

Then, the diazo solution is copulated with the pyrazolone solution. Copulation ends quickly. The mixture is made weakly acidic with this acetic acid. Then 280 parts of crystallized sodium acetate and 142 parts of cobalt sulfate are introduced and the mixture is heated to 70-80 until formation of the cobalt complex is complete.
