Joint ie rails.

Joint ie rails. The present invention relates to a joint: the rails in which the ends of the rails rest on a so-called bridge plate: the joint which connects two sleepers placed at a certain distance from each other. These plates: the bridge joint are stressed by bending and often break as a result the shocks and oscillations acting on them are constantly reproduced. When the plates: the bridge joint are made so strong that the: change: the breakage is eliminated, the passage of the Joints is very due and the rails are subject to very strong wear at the location of the joint.
The present invention now aims to establish a joint: the rails itself, on the one hand, provides a very powerful support for the rails, but it is, on the other hand, so elastic that it absorbs and annihilates the shocks due to service.
The invention consists essentially of reading the ends of the rails rest on a ban: the carrier with elastic action, is fixed to it on a rigid frame, rests on it.

as joint bridge on the two support cross members of the joint and it is fixedly connected to these cross members and to the rails. The frame and the carrier strip are rationally formed by slitting the bridge joint plalue along the rails. The carrier strip is advantageously bent downwards and stretched by means of an intermediate layer placed between it and the shoe of the rail and it is held by the fixing members of the rails in this stretched state,
In the accompanying drawings:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of one embodiment of such a rail joint.
Fig. 2 is a plan of the joint bridge.
Fig 3 is a side elevation of a joint: the rail made using a special intermediate layer between the carrier strip and the rail shoe,
Fig: 4 is a corresponding cross section on a slightly larger scale.
Fig. 5 is an elevation of a tool for tensioning the carrier belt, shown mounted in working position.
The bridge or joint plate 1 rests in the known manner by its ends on the joint cross members 2 to which it is secured by the lag screws 3. It comprises two reinforcing ribs 4, which also serve as stops for the rails.
Immediately next to these ribs 4 and, in fact, inside them, the joint bridge comprises longitudinal slots 5. By splitting the bridge: the joint forms the carrier strip 6, while the bridge: the seal 1 itself remains in the form 3'une part similar to a frame at both ends of the laluelle the carrier strip 6 is secured. The joint bridge 1 is only stressed at the pressure during the loading of the carrier belt 6, while the carrier belt 6 fixed in it reads.

carrier therefore has not only an extremely large carrying capacity, but also considerable elasticity.
The ends of the rails 7 are placed on the carrier strip 6 (fig. 1). These ends of the rails are connected to the frame of the joint bridge and to the carrier strip 6 by the locks 8 in the form: the wedge, which rest against the stirrups 9 of the ribs 4 of the frame of the joint bridge 1 and which s' engage on the runners 7.
In order to anchor the carrier strip 6 and the frame of the joint bridge 1 as firmly as possible with the rails, an intermediate layer 10 is inserted at the joint clearance or interval, under the rails (fig. 3, 4 and 5). , it can be made of iron, wood or the like. This layer has the effect first of all of leaving between the rails 7 and the carrier strip 6 a free gap 11 of the thickness of the intermediate layer 10. If the rails 7 are pressed down the thickness of the layer intermediate 10 to the seal set, as shown in fig. 5, by means of: the screw clamp 1.2 or a similar device, the carrier strip 6 is bent from this thickness in the middle downwards and is thus very strongly tensioned.
By then installing the locks 8, the result is obtained that after removing the screw clamps 12, the rails 7 can no longer be lifted from the frame of the joint bridge '1; the state under tension of the carrier strip 6 therefore remains maintained. This state is represented in fig. 3. This shows the middle layer 10 with the carrier strip 6 bent down and stretched. The intermediate layer 10 is rationally a little recessed in its median part, so that it can better adapt to any differences: the height of the rails due to the rolling tolerances.
The strongly tensioned carrier strip 6 supports the ends of the rails 7 in a particularly strong way, but may

despite this elastilue. All parts of the rail joint, but in particular the ribs 13, are therefore relieved to the greatest possible extent and remain constantly connected to each other and integral, which considerably reduces their wear and also ensures a durable passage. vehicles smooth on the rail joint.
The joint bridge 1 can also for example be made by fixing a carrier strip by rivets, by staining or other means in a particular frame. Likewise, it is possible: to keep the ends 7 of the rails lowered on the frame 1 3 'in another way, for example using screwed bolts and clamping plates.
The intermediate layer 10 can be more or less thick, in each case according to the need, to adapt the tension of the carrier strip 6 to the requirements of each particular case.
