Abstract

The device has an envelope made of elastic material and including parts (1, 2) extending on sides of a rail (3). The material is sufficiently rigid so that the parts maintain the rail in a position during passage of a railway vehicle on the rail. A fixing unit has a removable tightening element (9) made of strip of a reinforced elastic material to apply the parts in a channel against lateral flanks (4, 5) to fix the rail in the channel, to release the rail from the channel by eliminating the element and to leave the channel. The channel is made of a prefabricated or glided concrete layer (23). An independent claim is also included for a method for covering lateral flanks of a rail.
