<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Device for automatically interchanging the shuttle in upper flap or bottom flap looms ------------------------
Various rotary devices are known for interochanging the shuttle. These devices have the drawback of often causing damage to the shuttles, and this is either by the fact that the arriving shuttle hits a second shuttle, or by the fact that a turnip passes the envelope. protective and breaks when rotating the shuttle store. In devices of this kind, it is also necessary to have devices composed for removing the shuttle from the rotating shuttle magazine.
It is also known to use shuttle boxes capable of moving up and down, respectively oscillating or pivoting, but these boxes have not given good results either.
Now, the object of the present invention is a device which does not have the drawbacks of the devices known hitherto, and the principle of the invention consists
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
to separate, when changing the shuttle, the turnip boot, respectively a part of the shuttle boot, from the clapper and to keep it at rest for a determined time below a shuttle magazine, this which gives the shuttle the necessary time to fall into the turnip box.
While the shuttle box is held below the shuttle magazine, the flapper performs its normal movement, and the empty shuttle, respectively the one with the weft yarn packed, is expelled without it being able to enter. worm filling of the shuttle box, respectively of the shuttle box part, the shuttle box then being in front of the empty shuttle path. By the fact that the empty shuttle is freely expelled from the loom and the full shuttle has the necessary time to fall into the shuttle box, respectively the part of the shuttle box kept at rest, it is impossible that the shuttles can be damaged. by no translational or rotational movement or by collisions.
With the device of the present invention it is possible to increase the number of turns, without it being possible for the loom to refuse to operate correctly, and this as a result of the deterioration of the shuttles or of their collision, respectively of their projection. tion back.
The principle of the invention will emerge more clearly from the description of the appended drawings, in which one of the possible embodiments of the device of the invention has been shown by way of example.
Fig.l shows schematically the device according to the invention in a position, in which the part of the shuttle box is applied against the leaf.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the device when the part of the boot with shuttle, that is to say its front and bottom wall, is moved away from the flap, on which res-

Fig. 3 is a front elevational view
Fig.4 shows a detail, that is to say the fall of the shuttle of the loom.
Fig. 5 shows the shuttle box closed after filling.
Fig.6 shows a detail and Fig.7 a section of the box for the expelled shuttle.
In this drawing, ¯1 indicates a shaft on which the leaf stand 5 is placed, the shaft itself rotating in bearings carried by the frame of the machine. On this shaft, there is also the crutch 8 for the protective frame 25, which also carries a part of the shuttle box, the said frame constantly moving with the leaf. On 1 shaft 1 there is still the support 7 for the shuttle magazine which is itself stationary, and finally the freely rotating arm 16 for the shuttle box part 19, which at one point is separated from the leaf 29 .
The separation of the shuttle box part 19 is effected as follows As soon as the pick guard, which is not shown in the drawing because it is generally known, turns the lever 26, the shaft 28 receives also a rotational movement as does the bent lever 11, one arm of which lifts the pawl 2 articulated to the crutch 8 of the protective frame. It should be noted that the leg 8 and the leg 5 of the leaf perform the same movements forwards and backwards, since they are well connected to each other or salted on the shaft 1.
In this way, the pawl 2 comes to be placed in the ohmin of the pin 35 of the lever 18 which is capable of rotating around the pivot 36, which in turn is fixed to the support 7.
By the oscillation of the lever 18, the lever 17 which is connected
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
by articulation to the lever 18, is withdrawn, and by means of the pin 24 the arm 16 of the part of the shuttle box 19 is held, and this by the fact that the head of the pin 37 engages on a inclined plane 38 of lever 17 (see fig. 6), which puts the pin 24 out of engagement with the drive element 30, which is movable on the support arm 24 '(see fig. 3), firmly connected to the leaf 39. In the meantime, the leaf performs its normal movement, the arm 16 of the shuttle boot part 19 oscillates further in the opposite direction of the movement of the leaf, and this until below the shuttle magazine,
this being done by the fact that the lever 18 oscillates even more and the pin 24 in recesses 24 of the lever 17 butts against the end of this slide. The pin 38 of the arm 16 engages in a recess of the stop device 9, which is arranged in the form of a double lever and is under the action of the spring 13, During the movement of the part of the boot to shuttle 19 Au below the shuttle store 37, this part of the box moves the cart 14 which is fixed to the shuttle store, towards the rear, and as this cart is provided with suitable notches, a shuttle can fall into the separate part 19 of the boot there shuttle (see fig, a).
The arm 16 also carries the lever 4, on which there is a roller 6 which, during the separation of the part of the shuttle boot 19 and the fall of the shuttle into the part of the shuttle box, is applied on the less eccentric portion of the eccentric 3 which is wedged on the shaft 15, which receives its movement from the main shaft by means of a known gear mechanism not shown. The direction of rotation of the shafts is indicated in figure 1 by means of arrows.
During this operation the leaf 29 arrives in its rear position, and from then on the other side of the loom is carried out the hunting of the empty shuttle or of the nē

vette with broken weft thread. As the shuttle box part 19 is located below the shuttle store
37, the empty shuttle is deprived of the guidance, respectively of the necessary braking and the shuttle strikes the protective frame 25 and falls into the collector 33, the said shuttle first falling on the flexible protective walls 31, which by means of a hinge 32 and springs are attached to the manifold 33, which prevented the shuttles from being damaged.
The leaf 20 moves forward by pushing the oliquet also forwards. At a determined point in the path of the leaf 29, the arm 32 of the pawl 2 butts against the pin 35 of the lever 18, which then oscillates backwards by moving the lever 11 in the direction of the leaf. The head 37 'of the spindle 34 slides along the inclined plane 38 of the lever 17 and falls into the drive element 30, meanwhile the eccentric ¯5 has also moved in the direction of the arrow (fig. .l) by oscillating the lever, respeotively the arm 4, which oscillates the arm 16 of the part of the shuttle box 19 and thus ensures the correct engagement of the spindle 24 behind the said element. training 30.
However, the stop 34 on the pawl 2 can also be eliminated and the engagement of the broaching ensured only by the intermediary of the eccentric 3 and the arm 4. In this case, the eccentric 3 moves the arm 16 in. the direction of the leaf.
On the arm 16 of the shuttle box part 19 is the arm 21, which, when said shuttle box part is below the shuttle magazine, covers the notch, respectively the Sent of the stop 20, into which the pawl 22 falls during a disturbance, that is to say when there is no shuttle in the shuttle box, since otherwise the loom is stopped. Thanks to the cover-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
ment of the tooth 20 by the arm 21 the pawl 22 passes above the stop and the loom continues to walk.
As soon as the part of the shuttle box 19 is again applied against the leaf 29, a new hunt occurs and the loom continues to work normally.
In weaving looms, in which it is possible to carry out several steps of one chosen, the lever transmission can be arranged so that the shuttle box part 19 is separated from the leaf at the time when the shuttle is already in the closed shuttle box so as to drop the shuttle by its own weight.
It goes without saying that various changes can be made in the arrangement of the levers and in other parts of the construction to separate one part of the shuttle box from the other which moves with the leaf, without for this to depart from the principle of the invention.
