ARBURTEUR POUR MOTEURS A COMBUSTION, etc.

BURNER FOR COMBUSTION ENGINES, etc.
The object of the present patent application is to make various modifications to the carburetor described and claimed in the main patent filed on February 23, 1937, so as to obtain a device of smaller size and simpler construction, while increasing its functional qualities and its application possibilities.
In this latter respect, the carburettor has been codified so as to be able to be used as a vertical carburettor, and it has been added to the main and idle jets, a third jet which is under the control of the gas intake flap at the engine, with the aim of obtaining additional power, for example in ribs.
The drawing appended to this specification shows in: Fig, I, a sectional elevation along A.B.C. of Fig.2 in a horizontal carburetor;
Fig.2, a corresponding plan view;
Fig.3, a plan view, the body being removed;
Fig. 4, a sectional elevation in the tank of a vertical carburettor, with a view of the body;

In the case of vertical mounting on the engine, the carburetor body has two main air intakes
2 'and 3' ', and it is surmounted by a connecting piece 30 ending in the horizontal flange 31 and carrying the flap 22. The tube 19 of the idle jet no longer plunges into a chimney, as in the case proceed, but is embedded in tank I. This nozzle is connected to a duct 32 drilled in the cover 13 and continuing vertically in
33 in the connector 30. This duct can open out above the shutter 33, as in Fig. 4, or correspond to a hole 34 drilled in the axis 35 of the shutter, so that when the latter is closed, axis 35 will switch to gasoline for idling.
In addition to the idle jet, the vertical carburetor also includes a special jet designed to operate only when an additional influx of fuel is useful, for example to facilitate hill climbing. This jet indicated at 36 is arranged horizontally in the body 3 and its supply tube 37 plunges directly into the tank I. The gasoline inlet is also braked by means of a perforated needle 38 disposed opposite it in the intake pipe d 'air 3'. The nozzle head is connected to the control lever 39 of the shutter 22 by a link shown schematically, at 40 and adjusted in such a way that when the shutter 22 has for example made a quarter turn. ,
its subsequent release causes rotation of the nozzle 36 and consequently the coincidence of its passage opening with its supply tube 37. In this case an additional forced supply is obtained, making it possible to climb a hill without slowing down the pace of the vehicle.
We could obviously make constructive modifications to this carburetor without departing from the scope of the invention.
