Abstract

A maintenance vehicle (1) comprises two vehicle boundaries (8) delimiting a working chamber (13) which are oppositely arranged and remote from each other in an axis (7) of rail trucks (5). Each boundary comprises a lateral wall (10) and a roof surface (11) connected thereto and forming an angle a therewith. The rail trucks (5) are remote from each other in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and connected to each other by means of a vehicle frame (3) positioned in the center between said rail trucks and in the direction of the axis (7). Said frame comprises a frame section (6) which is upwardly elbowed between the two rail trucks (3) and connects the two vehicle boundaries (8).

Description

VERIFICATION OF TRANSLATION Australian Patent Application relating to: "A maintenance vehicle" I, Helmut P. Wind, of DrischUtzgasse 10/32, A-1110 Vienna, Austria, am the translator of the documents attached and I state that the following is a true translation to the best of my knowledge and belief. Signature of translator: Dated 15th December 2006 1 A maintenance vehicle. The invention relates to a maintenance vehicle having two vehicle boundaries which enclose a work space and extend in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and are positioned opposite one another and designed to be distanced from one another by means of drives in the direction of an axis of on-track undercarriages, the vehicle boundaries being formed in each case by a vehicle side wall and a roof plane connected thereto and enclosing an angle a. A vehicle of this type is already known from EP 1 369 330 Al. This vehicle, however, is not suited for incorporation into a train formation. It is the object of the present invention to create a vehicle of the specified kind which can be incorporated without problems into a train formation. According to the invention, this object is achieved with a machine of the type mentioned at the beginning by means of the features cited in the characterizing clause of claim 1. Owing to the vehicle frame which is positioned centrally and recessed upwardly, the rigidity in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle as required for the incorporation into a train formation is assured, wherein the work space is not restricted in any way and the two vehicle halves may be displaced unhinderedly in the transverse direction. Additional advantages and features of the invention become apparent from the further claims and the drawing. The invention will be described in more detail below with reference to embodiments represented in the drawing in which Figs. 1 and 3 each show a simplified side view of a maintenance vehicle, and Fig. 2 shows an enlarged cross-section of the vehicle according to section line II in Fig. 1.
2 A maintenance vehicle 1, visible in Figs. 1 and 3, comprises a vehicle frame 3 which extends in the longitudinal direction 2 of the vehicle and, at each end 4, is supported on an on-track undercarriage 5 having axes 7. The vehicle frame 3 has an upwardly recessed frame section 6 between the two on-track undercarriages 5 and, with respect to the axis 7, is positioned centrally on the on-track undercarriages 5. The recess is expediently sized so that working personnel can unhinderedly move in an upright position on a track 20. As visible particularly in Fig. 2, the frame section 6 is designed to have a cross section reduced to a longitudinal beam and is connected in its upper region to two vehicle boundaries 8, separated from one another and lying opposite one another in the transverse direction of the vehicle. Each vehicle boundary 8 is composed of a vehicle side wall 10, extending in the longitudinal direction 2 of the vehicle and vertically, and a roof plane 11 connected thereto, both enclosing an angle a of about 900 to about 150* with one another. Each vehicle boundary 8 is connected to the frame section 6 only by its roof plane 11 and is transversely displaceable in the direction of the axes 7 by means of drives 12. Thus it is possible to widen a work space 13, delimited by the two vehicle side walls 10, in the area of a construction site by actuation of the drives 12 (see dash-and-dot lines in Fig. 2). Fastened to the underside of the frame section 6 is a rail 22, extending in the longitudinal direction 2 of the vehicle, on which heavy lifting- and working devices 23 are displaceably supported. The latter, just like the said drives 12, are supplied with energy via hydraulic and electric lines 14 which may be connected to a traction engine, not shown, designed to be coupled to the vehicle 1. Alternatively, as represented in Fig. 3, an individual motive drive 15 as well as a driver's cab 16 could also be provided. A connecting passage 18 secured by a railing 17 is arranged between the driver's cab 15 and the work space 13 formed by the two vehicle boundaries 8. With this, it is possible for the working personnel to enter the driver's cab 15 or the work space 13 without danger. For incorporation into a train formation, buffer and draw gear 19 as well as braking devices 21 are provided.

Claims (5)

1. A maintenance vehicle (1) having two vehicle boundaries (8) which enclose a work space (13) and extend in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and are positioned opposite one another and designed to be distanced from one another by drives (12) in the direction of an axis (7) of on-track undercarriages (5), the vehicle boundaries (8) being formed in each case by a vehicle side wall (10) and a roof plane (11) connected thereto and enclosing an angle a, characterized in that two on-track undercarriages (5), spaced from one another in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, are connected to one another by means of a vehicle frame (3) which is positioned centrally with respect to said on-track undercarriages (5) and the direction of the axis (7), the vehicle frame (3) comprising, between the two on-track undercarriages (5), an upwardly recessed frame section (6) on which the two vehicle boundaries (8) are supported.
2. A vehicle according to claim 1, characterized in that a motive drive (15) is associated with an on-track undercarriage (5).
3. A vehicle according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that a driver's cab (16) is provided at one end (4) of the vehicle frame (3).
4. A vehicle according to claim 3, characterized in that, between the driver's cab (16) and the work space (13) formed by the vehicle boundaries (8), a connecting passage (18) is provided for working personnel to enter the driver's cab (16) or the work space (13).
5. A vehicle according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that a rail (22), extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, for displaceable support of lifting- and working devices (23) is provided on the recessed frame section (6).
