Abstract

Métodos de diagnostico para la identificacion de uno o más agentes causales de infecciones oculares y del sistema nervioso entre una multiplicidad de patogenos probables que podrían provocar la infeccion. Todos los patogenos que afectan un área discreta de los ojos o el sistema nervioso generalmente provocan las mismas manifestaciones clínicas o síndromes. Se relaciona con la deteccion y la discriminacion del patogeno entre un conjunto de patogenos probables en una sola prueba, sin recurrir a una batería de pruebas, cada una dirigida a la deteccion de un solo patogeno. Se centra en el diagnostico basado en el síndrome, que reemplaza al diagnostico basado en la deteccion de patogenos individuales. Reivindicacion 6: Un método para la deteccion y la discriminacion de patogenos que causan síndromes tales como endoftalmitis infecciosa, queratitis, uveítis, retinitis o meningitis, caracterizado porque comprende amplificar genes específicos de dichos patogenos con un ensayo de PCR (reaccion en cadena de la polimerasa) multiple en la muestra clínica, usando el conjunto de cebadores directos e inversos unicos reivindicados en la reivindicacion 1, y en pasos posteriores, hacer hibridizar el o los productos amplificados (sondas) con secuencias de ADN complementarias (blancos) inmovilizadas en una matriz de fase solida en un formato multiple, de acuerdo con métodos conocidos, y detectar el o los productos hibridizados de acuerdo con métodos conocidos, con el fin de detectar y discriminar el patogeno específico que causa el síndrome investigado.
