Abstract
La presente brinda un procedimiento para separar un oxido de alquileno de una mezcla acuosa, donde no se forma una cantidad de subproducto detectable. Una mezcla acuosa que contiene un oxido de alquileno entra en contacto con una resina de intercambio de iones de ácido carboxílico para separar el oxido de alquileno de la mezcla acuosa. La capacidad de intercambio de iones de la resina es regenerada con un bano de ácido a una temperatura de al menos 60sC, donde la regeneracion de la resina no produce como resultado la formacion de dioxano en el bano de ácido agotado. El procedimiento es particularmente util para purificar una solucion acuosa de 3- hidroxipropionaldehído derivada de una extraccion acuosa de una mezcla de la reaccion de hidroformilacion que contiene oxido de etileno.
