Abstract
Comprende un método para producir plantas con esterilidad masculina, caracterizada porque comprende los pasos de: insertar en el genoma de una célulavegetal: una primera molécula de ADN que comprende, ligado operativamente en la orientacion 5 a 3; unprimer promotor que funciona en células vegetalescausando la produccion de una primera secuencia de ARN; una primera secuencia de ADN que codifica una proteína que produce tolerancia al glifosato; una primeraregion no traducida 3 que funciona en células vegetales causando la polialdenilacion del extremo 3 de la primera secuencia de ARN; y una segunda molécula deADN que comprende, ligado operativamente en la orientacion 5 a 3; un segundo promotor que funciona en células vegetales causando la produccion de una segundasecuencia de ARN en un tejido reproductor masculino; una segunda secuencia de ADN que codifica una segunda secuencia de ARN que es complementaria de la primerasecuencia de ARN; una segunda region no traducida 3 que funciona encélulas vegetales causando la poliadenilacion del extremo 3 de la segunda secuencia deARN; obtener células vegetales transformadas que contienen la primera y segunda molécula de ADN; regenerrar plantas transformadas a partir de las célulasvegetales transformadas; y exponer las plantas transformadas a glifosato. Las plantas que contienen la primera y la segunda molécula de ADN se vuelvenmasculinos estériles por exposicion a glifosato. Los métodos y las composiciones de la invencion resultan ventajosos para su uso en la generacion de semillashíbridas, para restringir el cruzamiento con especies relacionadas y para prolongar la vida de las flores.
