Description
また、アミン変性オリゴマーを含有し、同時に複数の(メタ)アクリロイル基を有するモノマーを含有したインクジェット用インク組成物も、例えば、特許文献2に記載されるように公知である。しかしながらこのようなインク組成物は、本発明におけるCやDの要件等を満たさない。
すなわち、本発明は以下の通りである。
1.下記要件A~Dを満たす活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット用インク組成物。
A: アミン変性オリゴマーを全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中1.0~20.0質量%含有する。
B: アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートを全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中2.0~20.0質量%含有する。
C:炭素数10~20のアルキル基含有(メタ)アクリレートを全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中2.0~25.0質量%含有する。
D: 1,6-ヘキサンジオールジアクリレート、3-メチル-1,5-ペンタンジオールジアクリレート、ジプロピレングリコールジアクリレート、プロポキシ化(2)ネオペンチルグリコールジアクリレート、1,10-デカンジオールジアクリレートおよびヒドロキシピバリン酸ネオペンチルグリコールジアクリレートからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中30.0~60.0質量%含有する。
2.B要件の少なくとも一部又は全てが、多官能アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートモノマーであり、この多官能アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートモノマーを、全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中5.0~20.0質量%含有する1に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物。
3.E:水酸基を有する(メタ)アクリルモノマーを、インク組成物中5.0~30.0質量%含有する、1又は2に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物。
4.F:光重合開始剤を含有する、1~3のいずれかに記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物。
5.要件Cの炭素数10~20のアルキル基含有(メタ)アクリレートの少なくとも一部がラウリルアクリレート及び/又はステアリルアクリレートである1~4のいずれか1項に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物。
6.G:着色剤を含有する、1~5のいずれかに記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物。
<要件A>
要件Aとしては、アミン変性オリゴマーの含有量を、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の全重合性成分中1.0~20.0質量%とすることである。
アミン変性オリゴマーとしては、分子内に2個の活性エネルギー線重合性官能基及び2個のアミノ基を有するアクリル化アミン化合物のオリゴマーであるCN371、CN373、CN383、CN386(サートマー社製)等のアクリル化アミン化合物である。
活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中のアミン変性オリゴマーの含有量が1.0質量%未満であると、表面硬化性、耐擦過性に劣ることになり、20.0質量%を超えると活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の粘度が高くなる傾向となり、保存安定性、耐摩擦性に劣ることになる。
アミノ基を有するオリゴマーの活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の全重合性成分中の含有量は、好ましくは1.2質量%以上であり、より好ましくは1.4質量%以上であり、さらに好ましくは1.6質量%以上、最も好ましくは1.8質量%以上であり、極めて好ましくは5.0質量%以上である。また、17.0質量%以下が好ましく、より好ましくは15.0質量%以下である。
要件Bとしては、アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートを、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の全重合性成分中2.0~20.0質量%含有することである。
アルコキシ基を有する(メタ)アクリルレートモノマーは特に限定されない。一例を挙げると、(メタ)アクリルモノマーは、臭気の少ない各種単官能(メタ)アクリレートモノマー、2官能(メタ)アクリレートモノマー、3官能(メタ)アクリレートモノマー、4官能以上の多官能アクリレートモノマー等である。環境面を考慮して、バイオマス由来のアルコキシ基を有する(メタ)アクリレートモノマーを使用できる。
具体的には、2-メトキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-エトキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-メトキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-(2-エトキシエトキシ)エチルアクリレート、3-メトキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ブトキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート等の単官能アルコキシアルキル(メタ)アクリレートや、
2-ブトキシジエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、メトキシジエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、メトキシトリエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、エトキシジエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、メトキシジプロピレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、メトキシトリプロピレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、メトキシポリエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、オクトキシポリエチレングリコール-ポリプロピレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、ラウロキシポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、ステアロキシポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート等のポリアルキレングリコール構造含有単官能アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートが挙げられ、
さらにエトキシ化(3)トリメチロールプロパントリ(メタ)アクリレート、プロポキシ化(2)ネオペンチルグリコールジ(メタ)アクリレート等の多官能のアルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートを採用することもできる。
要件Bであるアルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートとして、上記したアルコキシ基含有多官能(メタ)アクリレートを、B要件中、30~100質量%含有することが好ましい。アルコキシ基含有多官能(メタ)アクリレートがこの範囲であると耐摩擦性に優れる。
アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートの活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の全重合性成分中の含有量は、好ましくは4.0質量%以上であり、より好ましくは8.0質量%以上であり、さらに好ましくは10.0質量%以上、最も好ましくは11.0質量%以上である。また、18.0質量%以下が好ましく、より好ましくは16.0質量%以下、さらに好ましくは14.0質量%以下であり、最も好ましくは13.0質量%以下である。
要件Cとしては、炭素数10~20のアルキル基含有(メタ)アクリレートの含有量が、全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中の2.0~25.0質量%であることができる。炭素数10~20のアルキル基は直鎖、分岐及び脂環構造のいずれの構造も有することができる。
ここで、炭素数10~20のアルキル基含有(メタ)アクリレートは単官能の(メタ)アクリレートであり、その例として、トリデシル(メタ)アクリレート、ラウリル(メタ)アクリレート、ステアリル(メタ)アクリレート、イソアミル(メタ)アクリレート、イソデシル(メタ)アクリレート、イソテトラデシル(メタ)アクリレート、イソボルニル(メタ)アクリレート、シクロヘキシル(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられる。
また、炭素数10~20のアルキル基含有(メタ)アクリレートの活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の全重合性成分中の含有量は、好ましくは2.5質量%以上であり、より好ましくは3.0質量%以上であり、さらに好ましくは3.5質量%以上、最も好ましくは4.0質量%以上である。また、20.0質量%以下が好ましく、より好ましくは.18.0質量%以下である。
炭素数10~20のアルキル基は比較的炭素数が多いので、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中に、これを原料とした(メタ)アクリレートをより多く使用するほど、組成物全体中のバイオマス由来の炭素を多く使用できる効果がある。
要件Dとしては、1,6-ヘキサンジオールジ(メタ)アクリレート、3-メチル-1,5-ペンタンジオールジ(メタ)アクリレート、ジプロピレングリコールジ(メタ)アクリレート、プロポキシ化(2)ネオペンチルグリコールジアクリレート、1,10-デカンジオールジアクリレートおよびヒドロキシピバリン酸ネオペンチルグリコールジアクリレートから選択される少なくとも1種の含有量を、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の全重合性成分中の30.0~60.0質量%にすることである。
要件Dの含有量が、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中の30.0質量%未満であると、硬化性、耐摩擦性が劣ることになり、60.0質量%を超えると、耐折り曲げ性が劣ることになる。
要件Eとしては、水酸基を有する(メタ)アクリルモノマーの含有量を、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中の全重合性成分中に5.0~30.0質量%とすることである。但し、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中に水酸基を有する(メタ)アクリルモノマーを含有しても良くしなくても良い。
水酸基を有する(メタ)アクリルモノマーとしては、(メタ)アクリレートモノマーが好ましく、下記のモノマーから1種以上を使用することができる。
2-ヒドロキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、3-ヒドロキシプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、3-ヒドロキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、4-ヒドロキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、6-ヒドロキシヘキシル(メタ)アクリレート、8-ヒドロキシオクチル(メタ)アクリレートなどのヒドロキシアルキル(メタ)アクリレート等、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル(メタ)アクリレート等のポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、ポリプロピレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、1,4-シクロヘキサンジメタノールモノ(メタ)アクリレートなどのグリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、カプロラクトン変性(メタ)アクリレート、ヒドロキシエチルアクリルアミド、EO(エチレンオキサイド)変性コハク酸(メタ)アクリレート等、また、臭気の少ない(メタ)アクリル酸4-ヒドロキシブチル等の水酸基を有する(メタ)アクリルモノマーであることが好ましい。
さらに、要件Hとして、ビニルモノマーを含有させることができる。ビニルモノマーは、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中の全重合性成分中に1.0~20.0質量%含有させることができる。ビニルモノマーを含有させることにより、段ボールシート等に印刷し、かつ、段ボールシート等が折り曲げられた場合、折り曲げ耐性がより良好となる。
但し、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中にビニルモノマーを含有しても良くしなくても良い。
ビニルモノマーは特に限定されない。一例を挙げると、ビニルモノマーは、エチレングリコールジビニルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールジビニルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールジビニルエーテル、1,4-シクロヘキサンジメタノールジビニルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノビニルエーテル、プロピレングリコールジビニルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールジビニルエーテル、ブタンジオールジビニルエーテル、ヘキサンジオールジビニルエーテル、トリメチロールプロパントリビニルエーテル等である。
これらの中でも、ビニルモノマーは、臭気の少ないトリエチレングリコールジビニルエーテル等であることが好ましい。
本発明において、要件A~E、Hにて対象となった重合性成分以外に、性能が低下しない範囲で、かつ臭気の少ない範囲で重合性化合物を含有させることができる。
なお下記の化合物の記載のうち、ポリオール部分の前の(ポリ)は、モノ-又はジ-以上のポリオールの縮合体を意味する。

本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物に配合できる重合性成分として、以下のものが挙げられる。

その他に、アクリロイルモルフォリン、アクリロニトリル、アクリルアミド、ジエチルアクリルアミド、スチレン、(メタ)アクリル酸、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレート、エポキシ(メタ)アクリレート、ポリエステル(メタ)アクリレート、ペンタエリスリトールエトキシテトラアクリレート、カプロラクタム変性ジペンタエリスリトールヘキサアクリレート、エトキシ化ビスフェノールAジアクリレート、アルコキシ化テトラヒドロフルフリルアクリレート、ジメチロール-トリシクロデカンジ(メタ)アクリレート、ヒドロキシピバリン酸ネオペンチルグリコールジ(メタ)アクリレート、ポリテトラメチレングリコールジアクリレート、トリメチロールプロパントリ(メタ)アクリレート及びそのエチレンオキサイド変性物、ペンタエリスリトールトリ(メタ)アクリレート等を挙げることができる。
なおアミド基含有モノマーを含有しても良く含有しなくても良い。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中に光重合開始剤を含有させることができる。なお活性エネルギー線として電子線を使用する際には、光重合開始剤を含有させても良く、含有させなくても良い。
使用できる光重合開始剤は例えば下記のものが挙げられる。
アシルフォスフィンオキサイド系重合開始剤である、ビス-2,6-ジメトキシベンゾイル-2,4,4-トリメチルペンチルフォスフィンオキサイド、2,4,6-トリメチルベンジル-ジフェニルフォスフィンオキサイド(TPO)、ビス(2,4,6-トリメチルべンゾイル)フェニルホスフィンオキサイド(Irgacure 819、又はSB-PI719)、エトキシ(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)フェニルホスフィンオキサイド(TPOL)等。
α-ヒドロキシケトン系重合開始剤である、2-ヒドロキシ-1-{4-〔4-(2-ヒドロキシ-2-メチル-プロピオニル)-ベンジル〕-フェニル}-2-メチル-プロパン-1-オン(Irgacure127)、2-ヒドロキシ-4’-ヒドロキシエトキシ-2-メチルプロピオフェノン(Irgacure2959)、1-ヒドロキシ-シクロヘキシル-フェニル-ケトン(Irgacure184)、オリゴ{2-ヒドロキシ-2-メチル-1-[4-(1-メチルビニル)フェニル]プロパノン}(ESACURE ONE)、2-ヒドロキシ-2-メチル-1-フェニルプロパン-1-オン、1-[4-(2-ヒドロキシエトキシ)-フェニル]-2-ヒドロキシ-2-メチル-1-プロパン-1-オン、1-ヒドロキシシクロヘキシルフェニルケトン、ビス[4-(2-ヒドロキシ-2-メチルプロパノイル)フェニル]エーテル(KIP160)等。
このような光重合開始剤は市販されており、たとえばIrgacure907、Irgacure369、Irgacure184、Irgacure379、Irgacure819、TPO等の商品名で入手することができる。複数の光重合開始剤は、併用されてもよい。
また、アシルフォスフィンオキサイド系重合開始剤とα-ヒドロキシケトン系重合開始剤が質量比で、好ましくはアシルフォスフィンオキサイド系重合開始剤:α-ヒドロキシケトン系重合開始剤=8:1~2:1、より好ましくは7:1~3:1となるように配合できる。
また2,4,6-トリメチルベンジル-ジフェニルフォスフィンオキサイドと、ビス(2,4,6-トリメチルべンゾイル)フェニルホスフィンオキサイドが質量比で、好ましくは2,4,6-トリメチルベンジル-ジフェニルフォスフィンオキサイド:ビス(2,4,6-トリメチルべンゾイル)フェニルホスフィンオキサイド=2:3~10:1、より好ましくは1:1~8:1となるように配合できる。
なお、チオキサントン系光重合開始剤を含有しなくても良い。
このような増感剤を用いることで、本実施形態のインク組成物は、LED硬化性を促進され得る。
具体的には、色味の変化の影響を受けやすいホワイトインク組成物およびクリアーインク組成物では、インク組成物は、光増感剤として、チオキサントン系増感剤を含まないことが好ましい。また、マゼンタインク組成物、シアンインク組成物では、光重合性化合物としてビニルアミド化合物を使用しているので、黄色に変色した硬化塗膜が退色し、色相の変化が問題となりやすい。そのため、光増感剤は、色相に問題が生じない範囲で使用することが好ましい。また、ブラックインク組成物、およびイエローインク組成物は、変色があっても色相に影響しにくく、かつ、光重合性が他の色相より乏しいことから、光重合開始剤として、チオキサントン系増感剤を併用使用することが好ましい。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物に含有される着色剤としては、従来から活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物に使用されている公知の顔料、染料を使用でき、有機着色顔料及び無機着色顔料等の着色顔料であることが好ましい。この結果、各色の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物を得ることができる。
有機着色顔料は、染料レーキ顔料、アゾ系、ベンゾイミダゾロン系、フタロシアニン系、キナクリドン系、アントラキノン系、ジオキサジン系、インジゴ系、チオインジコ系、ペリレン系、ペリノン系、ジケトピロロピロール系、イソインドリノン系、ニトロ系、ニトロソ系、アンスラキノン系、フラバンスロン系、キノフタロン系、ピランスロン系、インダンスロン系の顔料等である。
無機着色顔料は、酸化チタン、ベンガラ、アンチモンレッド、カドミウムイエロー、コバルトブルー、群青、紺青、鉄黒、酸化クロムグリーン、カーボンブラック、黒鉛等の有色顔料(白色、黒色等の無彩色の着色顔料も含める)、および、炭酸カルシウム、カオリン、クレー、硫酸バリウム、水酸化アルミニウム、タルク等の体質顔料等である。
マゼンタ顔料は、C.I.Pigment Red 5、7、12、19、22、38、48:1、48:2、48:4、49:1、53:1、57、57:1、63:1、101、102、112、122、123、144、146、149、168、177、178、179、180、184、185、190、202、209、224、242、254、255、270、C.I.Pigment Violet 19等であり、C.I.Pigment Red 122、202、C.I.Pigment Violet 19等であることが好ましい。
シアン顔料は、C.I.Pigment Blue 1、2、3、15、15:1、15:2、15:3、15:4、15:6、16、18、22、27、29、60等であり、C.I.Pigment Blue 15:4等であることが好ましい。
ブラック顔料は、カーボンブラックC.I.Pigment Black 7等である。
ホワイト顔料は、酸化チタン、酸化アルミニウム等であり、アルミナ、シリカ等の種々の材料で表面処理された酸化チタン等であることが好ましい。
着色剤の含有量は、インク組成物中1質量%以上であることが好ましく、インク組成物中20質量%以下であることが好ましい。着色剤の含有量が上記範囲内であることにより、インク組成物は、得られる印刷物の画像品質が適切となり、かつ、粘度特性が優れる。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物が顔料を有する際に含有しても良い顔料分散剤としては、イオン性または非イオン性の界面活性剤や、アニオン性、カチオン性またはノニオン性の高分子化合物等である。
中でも高分子化合物であるものが好ましく、例えば、特開2004-083872号公報、国際公開WO2003/076527号公報、国際公開WO2004/000950号公報に記載されているカルボジイミド系化合物、塩基性官能基含有共重合物であるアジスパーPB821、822(味の素ファインテクノ社製)、ソルスパース56000(ルーブリゾール社製)、ソルスパース32000(ルーブリゾール社製)、ソルスパース39000(ルーブリゾール社製)、DISPERBYK(ビックケミー・ジャパン社製)等が好ましい。これら顔料分散剤は1種または2種以上を混合して使用できる。
中でもアミン価が10~40mgKOH/gの塩基性官能基含有共重合物が好ましい。
なお、上記顔料分散剤は、顔料の種類、使用する有機溶剤の種類に応じて適宜選択して使用する。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、全ての液体成分が硬化反応されて固化するいわゆる無溶剤型でも良く、印刷後の塗膜を乾燥して溶媒を除去したのちに硬化させる溶剤型でも良い。但し、溶媒として水を使用しない。
以下本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物に有機溶剤を含有させた場合について記載する。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物に含有しても良い有機溶剤は、プロピレンカーボネート、ジエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル及びジプロピレングリコールアルキルエーテルアセテート等である。
ジプロピレングリコールアルキルエーテルアセテートとしては、好ましくは炭素数6以下のアルキル基であるもの、より好ましくは炭素数3以下のアルキル基であるもの、さらに好ましくは炭素数2以下のアルキル基であるものを採用できる。
このような引火点50~150℃のアルキレングリコール誘導体としては、トリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールジエチルエーテル、テトラエチレングリコールジメチルエーテル等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールジメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールジエチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールジメチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールジエチルエーテル、テトラプロピレングリコールジエチルエーテル、テトラプロピレングリコールジメチルエーテル等の(ポリ)プロピレングリコールジアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテル等の(ポリ)プロピレングリコールモノアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、プロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、ジプロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、ジプロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート等の(ポリ)プロピレングリコールモノアルキルエーテルモノアルキルエステル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、テトラエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールモノアルキルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールモノアルキルエーテルモノアルキルエステル、エチレングリコールジアセテート、ジエチレングリコールジアセテート、トリエチレングリコールジアセテート等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールジエステル、エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート、ジエチレングリコールモノプロピルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテルアセテート、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテルアセテート等の(ポリ)エチレングリコールモノエーテルモノエステル等が例示できる。
引火点50~150℃のアルキレングリコール誘導体の内で、まず、ジエチレングリコールエチルメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールジエチルエーテルが挙げられる。
また、溶媒全体の引火点を大きく変更しない範囲において、引火点が50~150℃の範囲内ではない、エチレングリコールジエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテルアセテート等を併用しても良い。
さらに、本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物には、必要に応じて、界面活性剤、可塑剤、重合禁止剤、表面調整剤、紫外線防止剤、光安定化剤、酸化防止剤等の種々の添加剤を使用することができる。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、25℃における粘度が好ましくは30.0mPa・s以下である。30mPa・sを超えるとインクジェット印刷用ノズルからのインク組成物の吐出が困難になる可能性がある。
なお、その粘度は、E型粘度計(商品名:RE100L型粘度計、東機産業社製)を用いて、25℃、20rpmの条件で測定した粘度である。
次に、これらの材料を用いて本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物を製造する方法について説明する。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、例えば、湿式サーキュレーションミル、ビーズミル、ボールミル、サンドミル、アトライター、ロールミル、DCPミル、アジテータ、ヘンシェルミキサー、コロイドミル、超音波ホモジナイザー、高圧ホモジナイザー(マイクロフルイダイザー、ナノマイザー、アルティマイザー、ジーナスPY、DeBEE2000等)、パールミル等の分散機を使用して分散混合し、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の粘度が2~10mPa・sとなるように調整することによって得ることができる。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物中における全有機溶剤の含有量は、インク組成物全量から、各固形分、必要により使用するその他の添加剤の合計量を差し引いた量であるが、インク粘度が前記範囲内になるように適宜変更するのが好ましい。
このようにして得られた本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、少なくとも表面層が紙や塩化ビニル系重合体やエチレン-酢酸ビニル系共重合体等の樹脂からなる基材に、インクジェット用プリンターを用いて使用できる。
次に、本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物を用いて印刷物を製造する方法について説明する。
本発明の印刷物の製造方法は、上記した活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物を、インクジェット方式にて基材に印刷する工程を含む。
基材は特に限定されない。一例を挙げると、基材は、各樹樹脂基材、紙、カプセル、ジェル、金属箔、ガラス、木材、布等である。本実施形態のインク組成物は、基材に印刷された後に、基材が折り曲げられる場合であっても、優れた折り曲げ耐性を示す。そのため、インク組成物は、基材が段ボールシート等の折り曲げられる用途に使用される基材である場合に、特に好適に使用される。
基材がCライナー、Kライナー等の段ボールシートである場合、インク組成物は、段バールシートに対して直接付与してもよく、段ボールシートにプレコート層(プライマー層)を設けたり、コロナ放電処理等を施した後に、付与してもよい。近年、環境に配慮するために、段ボールシートは、古紙や再生紙等が利用される場合がある。段ボールシートとしてKライナーを使用する場合は、表面の凹凸が粗く、色合いが不鮮明であり、印字した際にインクの浸透性が高い。そのため、段ボールシートにインク組成物が印字されると、下地であるライナー原紙の茶色が印刷品質の低下の原因となりやすい。
プレコート層(プライマー層)は、段ボールシートを構成するライナー原紙の白色度や色味等を調整し、下地の白色度を高めること等を目的として設けられる。プレコート層は、顔料および接着剤を含むプレコート剤を塗布することにより形成され得る。
顔料は特に限定されない。一例を挙げると、顔料は、二酸化チタン(アナターゼ、ルチル)のほか、水酸化アルミニウム、硫酸バリウム、炭酸カルシウム、無定形シリカ、クレー等の体質顔料が挙げられる。また、白色顔料の含有量はプレコート剤100質量部中20~85質量部が好ましく、より好ましくは20~80質量部である。
段ボールのプレコート層に使用されるバインダー樹脂は、水性樹脂であることが好ましい。水性樹脂は、天然樹脂、合成樹脂等であることが好ましく、澱粉誘導体、カゼイン、シェラック、ポリビニルアルコール誘導体、アクリル系およびマレイン酸系樹脂等がより好ましい。より具体的には、水性樹脂は、アクリル酸あるいはメタクリル酸とそのアルキルエステル、あるいはスチレン等を主なモノマー成分として共重合した水性アクリル系樹脂、水性スチレン-アクリル樹脂、水性スチレン-マレイン酸樹脂、水性スチレン-アクリル酸-マレイン酸樹脂、水性ポリウレタン樹脂、水性ポリエステル樹脂等が好適に用いられる。バインダー樹脂の含有量は、プレコート剤100質量部中1~25質量部が好ましく、1~15質量部がより好ましい。
プレコート層には、上記に示した成分以外に、必要に応じて造膜剤、顔料分散剤または顔料分散樹脂、ブロッキング防止剤、湿潤剤、粘度調整剤、pH調整剤、消泡剤、一般の界面活性剤等の種々の添加剤を適宜選択して使用することができる。
これら各種材料を使用してプレコート剤を製造する方法は特に限定されない。一例を挙げると、プレコート剤を製造する方法は、白色顔料、水性バインダー樹脂、水、必要に応じて水混和性溶剤、および顔料分散剤または顔料分散樹脂を混合して混練し、さらに、添加剤、水、必要に応じて水混和性溶剤、および所定の材料の残りを添加、混合する方法が一般的である。
なお、プレコート剤は、上記の各成分を必要量混合し、ホモミキサー、ラボミキサー等の高速撹拌機や、3本ロールミルやビーズミル等の分散機にて混合、分散することにより容易に得ることが出来る。
プライマー層が設けられる場合、プライマー層の厚み(プレコート剤の塗布量)は特に限定されない。プライマー層は、固形分塗布量が0.1~5g/m2の範囲あることが好ましい。プライマー層の厚み(プレコート剤の塗布量)が上記範囲内であることにより、段ボールシートは、白色度や色味が適切に調整されやすい。
例えば、基材への吐出(画像の印字)は、本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物をインクジェット記録用プリンターの低粘度対応のプリンタヘッドに供給し、基材に対して塗膜の膜厚が、例えば、1~60μmとなるように該インク組成物をプリンタヘッドから吐出することにより行うことができる。また、光での露光、硬化(画像の硬化)は、画像として基材に塗布された本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の塗膜に活性エネルギー線を照射することにより行うことができる。
本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物を印字するインクジェット記録方式用プリンター装置としては、従来から使用されているインクジェット記録方式用プリンター装置が利用できる。なお、コンティニュアスタイプのインクジェット記録方式用プリンター装置を用いる場合は、本発明の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物にさらに導電性付与剤を加え電導度の調節をする。
上記塗膜の硬化における活性エネルギー線源としては、紫外線(UVランプ)、紫外線(発光ダイオード(LED))、電子線、可視光線等を挙げることができる。具体的な装置として、例えば、超高圧水銀ランプ、高圧水銀ランプ、低圧水銀ランプ、水銀キセノンランプ、メタルハライドランプ、ハイパワーメタルハライドランプ、キセノンランプ、パルス発光キセノンランプ、重水素ランプ、蛍光灯、Nd-YAG3倍波レーザー、He-Cdレーザー、窒素レーザー、Xe-Clエキシマレーザー、Xe-Fエキシマレーザー、半導体励起固体レーザー、LEDランプ等からなる群より選ばれる1種以上を用いることができる。環境面から好ましくは発光ピーク波長が350~420nmの範囲の紫外線を発生する発光ダイオード(LED)である。
なお、発光ダイオード(LED)を光源とした紫外線とは、「発光ピーク波長が350~420nmの範囲の紫外線を発生する発光ダイオードから照射される光」とする。
なお印刷時のインク組成物の温度としては20~26℃程度の室温でも良く、その他の温度でも良い。
以下の実施例、比較例で使用した材料は次の通りである。表中の顔料、分散剤、樹脂、溶剤及び合計に関する欄の数値の単位は「質量%」である。

<活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物の製造>
表1の配合(各材料の配合比率は質量%である)に従って、各材料を撹拌混合後に練肉して各色の顔料分散液を得た。そして、表2の配合に従って実施例の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物を得た。
<段ボール基材>
Kライナー、Cライナー
平均粒子径0.05μmの炭酸カルシウム45質量部、酸価170mgKOH/gのスチレンマレイン酸樹脂(固形分25%)25質量部、水の30質量部をビーズミルで分散させ炭酸カルシウムの45%スラリーを得た。炭酸カルシウムの45%スラリーの80質量部、酸価170mgKOH/gのスチレン-マレイン酸樹脂(固形分25%)20質量部を混合撹拌し、プレコート剤を得た。
<Kライナーへのプレコート剤の塗布>
上記で調整したプレコート剤を、0.1mmメアバーを用いて、塗布量が約4g/m2の塗布量となるようにKライナーに塗布を行った。次いで、プレコート剤塗布面の乾燥を、熱風乾燥により行った。
表2に記載の評価基準は以下の通りである。
(粘度)
実施例及び比較例で得られた活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物をE型粘度計(商品名:RE100L型粘度計、東機産業社製)を使用して、温度25℃、ローター回転速度20rpmの条件で、粘度を測定した。
塗膜の大きさが8cm×12cmになるように、基材上に塗膜を形成・硬化させたのち、基材を24cm×34cmのチャック袋に入れ、一時間後袋内の臭気を確認。10人に嗅いでもらい以下5段階で評価。表は10人の平均値を小数点以下四捨五入で表示。
5:無臭
4:低臭
3:中臭
2:強臭
1:激臭
活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物をガラス瓶に採り、密栓して70℃で7日間保存した後の状態を、下記評価基準に従って評価した。
○:活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、増粘、沈降物が共に認められなかった。
△:活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、軽く振ると元に戻る程度の増粘や沈降物が認められた。
×:活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物は、強く振っても元に戻らない程度の増粘や沈降物が認められた。
25℃の雰囲気温度下に、インクジェットノズルを備えたインクジェット記録装置と、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物とを24時間置き、インクジェット記録装置および活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物インク組成物の温度を25℃とした。その後、25℃で、インク組成物を用いてプレコートを塗布したKライナー、Cライナー上に、連続的に印刷(印字)して、吐出安定性を以下の評価基準にしたがって評価した。
○:印刷の乱れがなく、安定して吐出できた。
△:印刷の乱れが若干あったが、ほぼ安定して吐出できた。
×:印刷の乱れがあったか、または、安定して吐出できなかった。
25℃の雰囲気温度下に、インクジェットノズルを備えたインクジェット記録装置と、活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物とを24時間置き、インクジェット記録装置および活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物インク組成物の温度を25℃とした。その後、25℃で、インク組成物を用いてプレコートを塗布したKライナー、Cライナー上に、連続的に印刷(印字)した後、フォセオンテクノロジー社製UV-LED光ランプにて、ランプとインクの塗布面との距離2cm下で、UV積算光量180mJ/cm2で硬化させた。
その後コンベア式光照射装置(ヘレウス社製STM-250E-16、ランプ:Z-8ランプ(メタルハライドタイプ))を用いて、120W×50m/min、UV積算光量75mJ/cm2〔UV積算光量は、測定器としてEIT社製UVIMAP(UM 365H-S)を用い、測定レンジ:250-260nm、280-320nm、320-390nm、395-445nmでの照射量を測定して求めた〕の照射条件で照射した。得られた硬化性塗膜を綿棒でこすり、下記評価基準に従ってその取られ具合により硬化性を評価した。
○:取られがなかった。
△:わずかに取られがあった。
×:取られがあった。
プレコートを塗布したKライナー、Cライナー上にインク組成物を印字し、印字された試料に硬化しわがあるかどうか目視にて評価した。
○:硬化しわがないもの。 ×:硬化しわがあるもの。
一方の面にプレコート層を形成したKライナー、Cライナーのプレコート層上に、インク組成物を印字し、印字した表面が外側を向くように(Kライナー、Cライナーの印字した面ではない裏面どうしが対向するように)90度折り曲げ、下記評価基準に沿って評価した。
○:折り曲げた際に、塗膜に罫線割れや細かなクラックが生じなかった。
△:折り曲げた際に、細かなクラックが生じた。
×:折り曲げた際に、罫線割れを生じた。
上記硬化性の評価において得られた硬化膜について、学振型堅牢度試験機(大栄科学精器製作所社製)を用いて、晒し布で500g×200回塗膜を擦ったときの、プレコートを塗布したKライナー、Cライナーからの硬化膜の取られ具合を目視で観察し、以下の評価基準にしたがって評価した。
○:硬化膜の取られが無かった。
△:硬化膜の表面に傷があった。
×:硬化膜が取られ、シートが見えた。
上記硬化性の評価において得られた硬化膜について、学振型堅牢度試験機(大栄科学精器製作所社製)を用いて、水に浸した晒し布で500g×30回塗膜を擦ったときの、プレコートを塗布したKライナー、Cライナーからの硬化膜の取られ具合を目視で観察し、以下の評価基準にしたがって評価した。
○:硬化膜の取られが無かった。
△:硬化膜の表面に傷があった。
×:硬化膜が取られ、シートが見えた。
しかし、アミン変性オリゴマーを含有しない比較例1によれば、硬化性、耐折り曲げ性及び耐摩擦性に劣っており、アミン変性オリゴマーを過剰に含有する比較例2によれば、粘度が高く、保存安定性及び吐出安定性に劣っていた。
要件Cの成分の含有量が少ない比較例3によれば、耐折り曲げ性に劣っており、要件Cの成分の含有量が過剰である比較例4によれば、保存安定性に劣り、硬化しわを生じ、耐摩擦性に劣っていた。
また要件Bの成分が過剰である比較例5によれば、塗膜が耐水性に劣っていた。

- 下記要件A~Dを満たす活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット用インク組成物。
A: アミン変性オリゴマーを全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中1.0~20.0質量%含有する。
B: アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートを全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中2.0~20.0質量%含有する。
C:炭素数10~20のアルキル基含有(メタ)アクリレートを全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中2.0~25.0質量%含有する。
D: 1,6-ヘキサンジオールジアクリレート、3-メチル-1,5-ペンタンジオールジアクリレート、ジプロピレングリコールジアクリレート、プロポキシ化(2)ネオペンチルグリコールジアクリレート、1,10-デカンジオールジアクリレートおよびヒドロキシピバリン酸ネオペンチルグリコールジアクリレートからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中30.0~60.0質量%含有する。 - B要件の少なくとも一部又は全てが、多官能アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートモノマーであり、この多官能アルコキシ基含有(メタ)アクリレートモノマーを、全活性エネルギー線重合性成分中5.0~20.0質量%含有する請求項1に記載の活性エネルギー線硬化型インクジェット印刷用インク組成物。
