Description
かかるルースチューブ型光ケーブルでは、曲がりを吸収するため光ファイバ束とチューブとの間である程度相対的に移動しなければならず、ケーブル自体に引っ張り力がかかったときには光ファイバがチューブ内でずれるのを防止しなければならない。
特許文献1では、光学導波路(12)とチューブ(18)との間に乾燥性挿入層(14)を設置しこれら課題を解決しようとしている(段落0007、図1など参照)。
光ファイバ束をチューブに収容したルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置であって、
前記光ファイバ束に対し樹脂を押し出し被覆する樹脂押出機と、
樹脂を冷却し前記チューブを形成するための冷却水が貯留される水槽とを備え、
前記樹脂押出機が、樹脂の押出口を有する押出しダイスと、前記押出しダイスを貫通するパイプと、前記パイプに対しエアを圧送するためのエア圧送機構とを備え、

図1はルースチューブ型光ケーブル1の概略構成を示す断面図である。
図1に示すとおり、ルースチューブ型光ケーブル1は多数本の光ファイバ(光ファイバ束2)が押巻きテープ4で被覆された光ファイバコア6を有し、光ファイバコア6がチューブ8で被覆された構成を有している。ルースチューブ型光ケーブル1では、光ファイバコア6がチューブ8に対しルースに収容されている。
押巻きテープ4は不織布から構成されている。
チューブ8は高密度ポリエチレン(HDPE:High Density Polyethylene)やポリブチレンテレフタレート(PBT:Polybutylene terephthalate)、ポリエステルエラストマー、ポリプロピレン、ナイロン、テトラフルオロエチレン・エチレン共重合体(ETFE:Ethylene Tetrafluoro Ethylene)、ポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVDF:PolyVinylidene DiFluoride)などから構成されている。
以上のルースチューブ型光ケーブル1では、光ファイバ束2の長さ1mにおける引き抜き力が3N以下となっている。当該「引き抜き力」とは、引き抜き力試験を用いて測定される測定値であって、光ファイバ束2が長さ1mのルースチューブ型光ケーブル1から動き始めるのに必要な力(N)を測定し取得した値である。
(1)ルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置
図2はルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置の概略構成を示す図である。
図2に示すとおり、ルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置10は、光ファイバ束2を巻回したドラム20を有しており、光ファイバ束2が同図中左から右に引き取られるようになっている。光ファイバ束2の引取り方向Aにはテープフォーマ30、樹脂押出機40、水槽50、外径測定器60および引取機70が順に設置され、光ファイバ束2がこれら装置や機器を通過し、光ファイバコア6やチューブ8が形成されるようになっている。
図2および図3に示すとおり、樹脂押出機40は主に、押出しダイス42、パイプ44およびエア圧送機構46から構成されている。
押出しダイス42には円形状を呈する樹脂Rの押出口42aが形成されている。押出しダイス42の押出口42aの中央部にはパイプ44が挿通されている。パイプ44は押出しダイス42を貫通しており、光ファイバコア6がパイプ44中を通過するようになっている。パイプ44の内径はチューブ8の内径より小さく、パイプ44の先端部は押出しダイス42の出口面42bから突出している。樹脂押出機40では、パイプ44を通過する光ファイバコア6に対し押出口42aから樹脂Rが押し出され、光ファイバコア6がその樹脂Rで被覆されるようになっている。
図3に示すとおり、水槽50には主に、サイジングダイス52および冷却水吸引機構54が設置されている。
サイジングダイス52はほぼ直方体状を呈するダイスであり、引取り方向Aに沿う長さがチューブ8の外径の10倍以上となっている。
サイジングダイス52には冷却水Wの注入口52a、52b、通過口52cおよび吸引口52d~52gが形成されている。通過口52cは断面円形状を呈しており、光ファイバコア6が通過口52c中を通過するようになっている。
通過口52cの入口はやや広くなっており、通過口52cは引取り方向Aに沿って徐々に狭くなり、通過口52cの中途から出口にかけて一定の径を保持している。
通過口52cの入口には冷却水Wを注入するための注入口52a、52bが形成されている。通過口52cの中途から出口にかけては冷却水Wを吸引するための吸引口52d~52gが形成されている。図3の例では、注入口52bは左右に(水平方向に)1セット形成され、吸引口52d~52gは左右に(水平方向に)4セットずつ形成されている。第1の吸引口52dと第2の吸引口52eとの間の距離は、第2の吸引口52eと第3の吸引口52fとの間の距離より大きくなっている。第2の吸引口52eと第3の吸引口52fとの間の距離と、第3の吸引口52fと第4の吸引口52gとの間の距離とは、同じである。
サイジングダイス52には引取り方向Aに沿う連通口52hが形成されており、吸引口52d~52gは互いに連通口52hで連通している。
各吸引口52d~52gの間の距離やその数も適宜変更可能であり、樹脂Rの種類やエアの圧力、冷却水の温度などを考慮し設定すればよい。たとえば、チューブ8をHDPE樹脂Rで構成する場合、当該HDPE樹脂Rは冷却水Wで硬化し易いため、第1、第2、第4の吸引口52d、52e、52gを形成しこれらの距離を等間隔で配置すればよいし、チューブ8をPBT樹脂Rで構成する場合、当該PBT樹脂RはHDPE樹脂Rより冷却水Wで硬化しにくいため第1~第4の吸引口52d~52gをすべて形成しサイジングダイス52の出口部分に吸引口を増やすようにしてもよい。
サイジングダイス52は引取り方向Aに沿って2個以上に分割され、各サイジングダイスで冷却水Wを流通させチューブ8を形成するようにしてもよい。
図4はルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造方法の概略を示すフローチャートである。
光ファイバ束2をドラム20から引取機70で引き取り光ファイバ束2を引取り方向Aに沿って搬送した状態において、エア圧送機構46および冷却水吸引機構54を作動させる。
この状態において、はじめに光ファイバ束2に対しテープフォーマ30で不織布を縦添えして押巻きテープ4で被覆し、光ファイバコア6を形成する(S1)。
その後、樹脂押出機40でパイプ44からエアを圧送しながら、光ファイバコア6に対し押出しダイス42の押出口42aから樹脂Rを押し出し被覆する(S2)。
その後、水槽50で冷却水Wを、サイジングダイス52の注入口52a、52bから通過口52cを経由して吸引口52d~52gまで流通させながら、樹脂Rを硬化させチューブ8を形成する(S3)。
その後、外径測定器60でルースチューブ型光ケーブル1の外径を測定し引取機70で引き取る(S4)。
すなわち、本実施形態ではエアの圧送により光ファイバコア6と樹脂Rとの間に隙間を形成した状態で冷却水Wの流通により当該隙間を維持させたまま樹脂Rを硬化させており、断面形状において扁平がなく(限りなく円形に近く)、チューブ8表面に皺のないルースチューブ型光ケーブル1を製造することができ、その結果曲がり吸収や引っ張り力によるずれを防止することができる。

Claims (7)
- 光ファイバ束をチューブに収容したルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置であって、
前記光ファイバ束に対し樹脂を押し出し被覆する樹脂押出機と、
樹脂を冷却し前記チューブを形成するための冷却水が貯留される水槽とを備え、
前記樹脂押出機が、樹脂の押出口を有する押出しダイスと、前記押出しダイスを貫通するパイプと、前記パイプに対しエアを圧送するためのエア圧送機構とを備え、
前記水槽が、冷却水の注入口、通過口および吸引口を有するサイジングダイスと、前記サイジングダイスから冷却水を吸引するための冷却水吸引機構とを備えることを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置。 - 請求項1に記載のルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置において、
前記パイプの内径が前記チューブの内径より小さいことを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置。 - 請求項1に記載のルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置において、
前記パイプの先端部が前記押出しダイスの出口面から突出していることを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置。 - 請求項1に記載のルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置において、
前記サイジングダイスの長さが前記チューブの外径の10倍以上であることを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置。 - 請求項1に記載のルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置において、
前記冷却水吸引機構における吸引圧力が-100~-20kPaであることを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置。 - 請求項1に記載のルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置において、
前記サイジングダイスが2個以上に分割されていることを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置。 - 光ファイバ束をチューブに収容したルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置であって、
前記光ファイバ束に対し樹脂を押し出し被覆する樹脂押出機と、
樹脂を冷却し前記チューブを形成するための冷却水が貯留される水槽とを備え、
前記樹脂押出機が、樹脂の押出口を有する押出しダイスと、前記押出しダイスを貫通するパイプと、前記パイプに対しエアを圧送するためのエア圧送機構とを備え、
前記水槽が、冷却水の注入口、通過口および吸引口を有するサイジングダイスと、前記サイジングダイスから冷却水を吸引するための冷却水吸引機構とを備える、前記ルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造装置を用いたルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造方法において、
前記エア圧送機構を作動させて前記パイプからエアを圧送しながら、前記光ファイバ束に対し、前記押出しダイスの押出口から樹脂を押し出す工程と、
前記冷却水吸引機構を作動させて冷却水を、前記サイジングダイスの注入口から通過口を経由して吸引口まで流通させながら、樹脂を硬化させる工程と、
を備えることを特徴とするルースチューブ型光ケーブルの製造方法。
