本発明は、乗り物用のマーカに関する。
自動運転やヘッドランプの配光の自動制御のために、車両の周囲に存在する物体の位置および種類をセンシングする物体識別システムが利用される。物体識別システムは、センサと、センサの出力を解析する演算処理装置を含む。演算処理装置は、機械学習によって生成された予測モデルにもとづいて実装される。
センサは、可視光カメラ、赤外線カメラ、LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging、Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging)、ミリ波レーダ、超音波ソナーなどの中から、用途、要求精度やコストを考慮して選択される。
物体識別システムによる主たる検出対象は、乗用車やトラック、バスなどの車両である。物体の検出および種類(車両、歩行者、交通標識など)を識別可能な物体識別システムは、画像処理と機械学習をベースとして比較的容易に実装することができる。
一方で、車両の向き(進行方向)や相対距離、車両のボディサイズなどについては、当該車両の行動予測に有用であるにもかかわらず、それらを従来のアーキテクチャで検出することは、演算処理量の制約等から容易でない。
本発明はこうした状況においてなされたものであり、そのある態様の例示的な目的のひとつは、他の乗り物に対して、本乗り物の行動予測に有用な情報や、自動運転に有用な情報を提示可能な乗り物の提供にある。
本発明のある態様は、乗り物に関する。乗り物は、乗り物の前面に取り付けられる第1マーカ群と、乗り物の後面に取り付けられる第2マーカ群と、乗り物の左側面に取り付けられる第3マーカ群と、乗り物の右側面に取り付けられる第4マーカ群と、を備える。第1マーカ群から第4マーカ群はそれぞれ、他の乗り物に搭載されるセンシングシステムによってセンシングされることにより、本乗り物に関する情報を当該センシングシステムに提供できるように、形状、空間的パターン、時間的パターン、色、反射率、輝度、レイアウトの少なくともひとつが定められている少なくともひとつのマーカを含む。

(実施の形態の概要)

ボディは前後対称であり、乗り物はどちらの方向にも進行可能であってもよい。ディスプレイデバイスの表示は、進行方向に応じて動的に変化してもよい。
マーカは、一次元あるいは二次元のコードを含んでもよい。コードは、マーカが取り付けられた位置に関する情報を含んでもよい。
コードは、マーカが取り付けられた本乗り物のボディサイズに関する情報を含んでもよい。
コードは、マーカが取り付けられた乗り物の識別番号に関する情報を含んでもよい。
マーカ群は、所定の方向に所定の間隔を隔てて配置される一対のマーカを含んでもよい。この場合、他の乗り物のセンシングシステムは、三角法などにもとづいて、本乗り物と他の乗り物の距離を推定できる。
(実施の形態)
以下、本発明を好適な実施の形態をもとに図面を参照しながら説明する。実施の形態は、発明を限定するものではなく例示であって、実施の形態に記述されるすべての特徴やその組み合わせは、必ずしも発明の本質的なものであるとは限らない。各図面に示される同一または同等の構成要素、部材、処理には、同一の符号を付するものとし、適宜重複した説明は省略する。
以下、本発明を好適な実施の形態をもとに図面を参照しながら説明する。実施の形態は、発明を限定するものではなく例示であって、実施の形態に記述されるすべての特徴やその組み合わせは、必ずしも発明の本質的なものであるとは限らない。各図面に示される同一または同等の構成要素、部材、処理には、同一の符号を付するものとし、適宜重複した説明は省略する。
(実施の形態1)
図1は、実施の形態1に係る車両100Aの斜視図である。この実施の形態では車両100Aとして自動車を例とする。車両100Aは、第1マーカ群MG1~第4マーカ群MG4を備える。第1マーカ群MG1は、車両100Aの前面S1に取り付けられ、第2マーカ群MG2は、車両100Aの後面S2に取り付けられ、第3マーカ群MG3は、車両100Aの左側面S3に取り付けられ、第4マーカ群MG4は、車両100Aの右側面S4に取り付けられる。図1には、前面S1およびそれに付された第1マーカ群MG1、左側面S3およびそれに付された第3マーカ群MG3が明示的に示される。
図1は、実施の形態1に係る車両100Aの斜視図である。この実施の形態では車両100Aとして自動車を例とする。車両100Aは、第1マーカ群MG1~第4マーカ群MG4を備える。第1マーカ群MG1は、車両100Aの前面S1に取り付けられ、第2マーカ群MG2は、車両100Aの後面S2に取り付けられ、第3マーカ群MG3は、車両100Aの左側面S3に取り付けられ、第4マーカ群MG4は、車両100Aの右側面S4に取り付けられる。図1には、前面S1およびそれに付された第1マーカ群MG1、左側面S3およびそれに付された第3マーカ群MG3が明示的に示される。
たとえば前面S1は、フロントバンパー、フロントグリル、ボンネット、フロントガラス、前照灯、および前方から視認可能なルーフの一部を含むことができる。また後面S2は、リアバンパー、トランクリッド、リアガラス、後尾灯、および前方から視認可能なルーフの一部を含むことができる。
各マーカ群MG#(#=1~4)は、少なくともひとつのマーカM#を含む。あるマーカ群MG#を構成するk個のマーカを、M#1~M#kと表記する。あるマーカ群MG#を構成するマーカM#1~M#kは、それが取り付けられた面S#を、他車両に搭載されるセンシングシステムがセンシングしたときに、本車両100Aに関する情報を取得できるように、(i)形状、(ii)空間的パターン、(iii)時間的パターン、(iv)色、(v)反射率、(vi)輝度、(vii)レイアウトの少なくともひとつが定められている。以下、(i)~(vii)を形状等と総称する。
具体的には、車両100Aに関する情報と、マーカの形状等の関係はすべての車両に共通となるように標準化されている。
図2(a)~(c)は、マーカの種類の一例を示す図である。本実施の形態において、マーカは、それが取り付けられる車両の前進方向を識別できるように規定される。図2(a)は、前方専用マーク102を、図2(b)は、後方専用マーク104を、図2(c)は、前進方向マーク106を示す。この例では、マーカの種類、機能は、マーカの形状と対応付けられる。マーカは、所定色で発光する発光体であってもよい(アクティブマーカ)。あるいはマーカは、所定波長(たとえば赤外)に対する反射率が、マーカ以外の部分に対して相対的に高い(もしくは低い)反射体(吸収体)であってもよい(パッシブマーカ)。マーカは、他車両のセンシングシステムによって認識可能であれば十分であり、必ずしも人間の目によって認識可能である必要は無い。
図3(a)~(d)は、図2(a)~(c)のマーカが付加された車両を示す図である。図3(a)~(d)にはそれぞれ、第1マーカ群MG1~第4マーカ群MG4が示される。図3(a)に示すように、前面S1の第1マーカ群MG1は2個のマーカM11,M12を含み、それらは、図2(a)の前方専用マーク102である。
2個のマーカM11,M12は、所定距離(たとえば1.5m)隔てて配置される。これにより、他車のセンシングシステムがセンシングする際に、撮影した画像に写る2個のマーカの像の距離にもとづいて、そのセンシングシステムから当該車両までの距離を、三角法等にもとづいて推定することが可能となる。
図3(b)に示すように、後面S2の第2マーカ群MG2は2個のマーカM21,M22を含み、それらは、図2(b)の後方専用マーク104である。前方専用マーカと同様に、2個の後方専用マーカM21,M22は、所定距離(たとえば1.5m)隔てて配置され、他車両のセンシングシステムから当該車両までの距離を、三角法等にもとづいて推定することが可能となる。
図3(c)に示すように、左側面S3の第3マーカ群MG3は、1個のマーカM31を含み、それは図2(c)の前進方向マーク106である。図3(d)に示す右側面S4の第4マーカ群MG4は、左側面と同様である。
他車両のセンシングシステムは、マーカの形状や位置を解析することにより、マーカが付加された車両の前進方向を識別することができ、車両の行動予測に役立てることができ、この行動予測を、自動運転や灯具の配光制御に利用可能となる。
マーカは、ボディサイズに関する情報を含んでもよい。具体的には、ボディサイズごとに、異なる形状のマーカを定めてもよい。図4(a)、(b)は、ボディサイズごとのマーカを示す図である。図4(a)には、普通車に取り付けられるマーカが、図4(b)には、大型車に取り付けられるマーカが示される。ボディサイズは、より細かく定義してもよい。
図4(a)のマーカ102,104,106は、図2(a)~(c)のそれらと同じである。図4(b)には、大型車用の前方専用マーク108、1後方専用マーク110、前進方向マーク112が示される。
図5(a)~(d)は、図4(b)のマーカが付加された大型車100Abを示す図である。図5(a)には、前面S1と左側面S3が示される。前面S1に付加される第1マーカ群MG1は、2個のマーカM11,M12を含み、それらは大型車用の前方専用マーク108である。左側面S3に付加される第3マーカ群MG3は、1個のマーカM31を含み、それは大型車用の前進方向マーク112である。図5(b)には後面S2が示される。後面S2に付加される第2マーカ群MG2は、2個のマーカM21,M22を含み、それらは大型車用の後方専用マーク110である。
このように、マーカの形状等によって、ボディサイズを区別できるようにすれば、他車両のセンシングシステムは、マーカが付された車両の行動予測の正確性を高めることができる。
左側面S3の第3マーカ群MG3、右側面S4の第4マーカ群MG4はそれぞれ、2個のマーカを含んでもよい。図6は、2個のマーカM31,M32を含む第3マーカ群MG3を示す図である。マーカM31は、前進方向マーク106であり、かつ前縁から所定距離L1(たとえば1.5m)の箇所に取り付けられる。マーカM32は、後縁から所定距離L2(たとえば1.5m)の箇所に取り付けられる。これにより、マーカM31にもとづいて車両100Acの進行方向を検出でき、さらにマーカM31とM32の間隔にもとづいて、車両100Acの長さを検出することが可能となる。
(実施の形態2)
図7は、実施の形態2に係る車両100Dを示す図である。車両100Dは、前後対称のボディを有し、どちらの方向にも進行可能である。車両100Dは、外観からは、前後の区別が付かず、言い換えれば進行方向が分からない。便宜的に、図示のように前面S1、後面S2、左側面S3(右側面S4)を定義する。前面S1~右側面S4には、第1マーカ群MG1~第4マーカ群MG4が設けられる。
図7は、実施の形態2に係る車両100Dを示す図である。車両100Dは、前後対称のボディを有し、どちらの方向にも進行可能である。車両100Dは、外観からは、前後の区別が付かず、言い換えれば進行方向が分からない。便宜的に、図示のように前面S1、後面S2、左側面S3(右側面S4)を定義する。前面S1~右側面S4には、第1マーカ群MG1~第4マーカ群MG4が設けられる。
図8は、マーカ群MG#を構成するディスプレイ型のマーカ200のブロック図である。マーカ200は、ディスプレイデバイス210とそのコントローラ220を含む。ディスプレイデバイス210は、一次元あるいは二次元に配置された複数の発光素子のアレイであり、複数の発光素子の点灯、消灯によって、表示する図形が制御可能である。コントローラ220は、車両100Dの状態に応じて、ディスプレイデバイス210の表示を制御する。車両100Dの状態は、車両100Dの進行方向であってもよい。
以上が車両100Dの構成である。続いてその動作を説明する。図9(a)、(b)は、図7の車両100Dの動作を説明する図である。図9(a)は、車両100Dが図中、左方向に進むときの状態を示す。第1マーカ群MG1のマーカM11,M12は、前方専用マーク102を表示し、第2マーカ群MG2のマーカM21,M22は、後方専用マーク104を表示する。また第3マーカ群MG3のマーカM31は、左方向に向いた前進方向マーク106を示しており、その位置は、車両100Dの前縁から所定距離に配置される。マーカM32は、車両100Dの後縁から所定距離の位置を示す。
図9(b)は、車両100Dが図中、右方向に進むときの状態を示す。第1マーカ群MG1のマーカM11,M12は、後方専用マーク104を表示し、第2マーカ群MG2のマーカM21,M22は、前方専用マーク102を表示する。また第3マーカ群MG3のマーカM32は、右方向に向いた前進方向マーク106を示しており、その位置は、車両100Dの前縁から所定距離に配置される。マーカM31は、車両100Dの後縁から所定距離の位置を示す。
実施の形態2によれば、前後の区別がつかない車両700Dが、周囲の交通参加者に、自身の進行方向を知らせることができる。
以上、本発明について、実施の形態をもとに説明した。この実施の形態は例示であり、それらの各構成要素や各処理プロセスの組み合わせにいろいろな変形例が可能なこと、またそうした変形例も本発明の範囲にあることは当業者に理解されるところである。以下、こうした変形例について説明する。
(第1変形例)
実施の形態では、マーカの機能や種類を、形状と対応付けたがその限りでない。マーカの種類や機能は、マーカの形状、空間的パターン、時間的パターン、色、反射率、輝度、レイアウトのいずれか、あるいはそれらの任意の組み合わせとして定義することができる。

たとえばマーカを、複数のドットやバーなどの要素、セル、画素の集合として構成し、機能や種類を、空間的パターンと対応付けて定義してもよい。上述の発光素子のアレイ(ディスプレイ)や後述の一次元あるいは二次元のコードもこの態様に含まれる。
あるいは、機能や種類ごとに色を定義してもよい。この場合、形状を同一としてもよいし、上述のように異ならしめてもよい。
あるいは、マーカの反射率を、機能や種類ごとに定義してもよい。マーカが光源である場合、その輝度を、機能や種類ごとに定義してもよい。
マーカが光源である場合に、時分割で点滅させ、その時間的パターンを、機能や種類毎に定義してもよい。
(第2変形例)
マーカは、一次元コード(たとえばバーコード)を含んでもよいし、二次元コードを含んでもよい。この場合、マーカを遠方から見たときの形状は同一であってもよい。

コードは、マーカが取り付けられた位置に関する情報を含んでもよい。ここでの「位置に関する情報」とは、取り付けられる面(S1~S4のいずれであるか)を示してもよい。「位置に関する情報」は、取り付けられる面に加えて、面内の位置を示してもよい。
コードは、マーカが取り付けられた車両のボディサイズに関する情報を含んでもよい。ボディサイズは、普通車と大型車のような区分で指定してもよいし、車両の全長、全幅、高さの情報を含んでもよい。
コードは、マーカが取り付けられた車両の識別番号に関する情報を含んでもよい。
(第3変形例)
図1に示すような前後非対称な車両に、図8のディスプレイ型のマーカを搭載してもよい。この場合においても、車両の状態に応じて、マーカの表示を変化させてもよい。たとえばマーカは、車両の進行方向を示してもよい。すなわち車両が前進するときには、車両前方を示すマーカを表示し、車両が後退するときには、車両後方を示すマーカを表示してもよい。
図1に示すような前後非対称な車両に、図8のディスプレイ型のマーカを搭載してもよい。この場合においても、車両の状態に応じて、マーカの表示を変化させてもよい。たとえばマーカは、車両の進行方向を示してもよい。すなわち車両が前進するときには、車両前方を示すマーカを表示し、車両が後退するときには、車両後方を示すマーカを表示してもよい。
実施の形態では、車両として自動車を説明したが、自転車や自動二輪車にも本発明は適用可能であり、さらに言えば、車両の範疇に含まれない乗り物にも広く適用可能である。
実施の形態にもとづき、具体的な語句を用いて本発明を説明したが、実施の形態は、本発明の原理、応用の一側面を示しているにすぎず、実施の形態には、請求の範囲に規定された本発明の思想を逸脱しない範囲において、多くの変形例や配置の変更が認められる。
本発明は、乗り物用のマーカに関する。

Claims (13)
- 乗り物であって、
前記乗り物の前面に取り付けられる第1マーカ群と、
前記乗り物の後面に取り付けられる第2マーカ群と、
前記乗り物の左側面に取り付けられる第3マーカ群と、
前記乗り物の右側面に取り付けられる第4マーカ群と、
を備え、
前記第1マーカ群から前記第4マーカ群はそれぞれ、他の乗り物に搭載されるセンシングシステムによってセンシングされることにより、本乗り物に関する情報を当該センシングシステムに提供できるように、形状、空間的パターン、時間的パターン、色、反射率、輝度、レイアウトの少なくともひとつが定められている少なくともひとつのマーカを含むことを特徴とする乗り物。 - 前記本乗り物に関する情報は、前記本乗り物の前進方向または進行方向を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の乗り物。
- 前記本乗り物に関する情報は、前記本乗り物のボディサイズを含むことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の乗り物。
- 前記本乗り物に関する情報は、前記他の乗り物が前記本乗り物までの距離を推定するのに必要な情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の乗り物。
- 前記マーカ群は、所定の方向に所定の間隔を隔てて配置される一対のマーカを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の乗り物。
- 前記マーカは、ディスプレイデバイスを含み、形状、空間的パターン、時間的パターン、色、輝度、レイアウトの少なくともひとつが可変であることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の乗り物。
- 前記乗り物は前後対称であり、前記乗り物はどちらの方向にも進行可能であり、
前記ディスプレイデバイスの表示は、進行方向に応じて動的に変化することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の乗り物。 - 前記マーカは、一次元または二次元のコードを含むことを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれかに記載の乗り物。
- 前記コードは、前記マーカが取り付けられた位置に関する情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の乗り物。
- 前記コードは、前記マーカが取り付けられた前記本乗り物のボディサイズに関する情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項8または9に記載の乗り物。
- 前記コードは、前記マーカが取り付けられた前記乗り物の識別番号に関する情報を含むことを特徴とする請求項8または9に記載の乗り物。
- どの方向から見ても、他の乗り物が、進行方向または前進方向を識別できるように、形状、空間的パターン、時間的パターン、色、輝度、レイアウトの少なくともひとつが決められた複数のマーカを備えることを特徴とする乗り物。
- 乗り物に取り付け可能な乗り物用マーカであって、
前記乗り物は前後対称なボディを備え、どちらの方向にも進行可能であり、
前記乗り物用マーカは、
ディスプレイデバイスと、
前記乗り物の状態に応じて、前記ディスプレイデバイスの表示を制御するコントローラと、
を備えることを特徴とする乗り物用マーカ。
