- the present disclosure relates to a negative electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a negative electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery.
- a silicon-based active material containing silicon (Si) or a carbon-based active material such as graphite is used as a negative electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. It is known that Si-based active materials can occlude more lithium ions per unit mass than carbon-based active materials such as graphite. In particular, since the Si-based active material represented by SiO x in which Si particles are dispersed in an amorphous SiO 2 phase has a smaller volume change due to occlusion of lithium ions than using Si alone, the non-aqueous electrolyte It is suitable for a negative electrode active material of a secondary battery. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using SiO x as a negative electrode active material.
- a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using SiO x as the negative electrode active material has a problem that the initial charge / discharge efficiency is lower than when the carbon-based active material is used as the negative electrode active material.
- This is mainly due to the fact that SiO 2 undergoes an irreversible reaction during charging and discharging to change to Li 4 SiO 4 . Therefore, in order to suppress the irreversible reaction and improve the initial charge / discharge efficiency, Si-based active materials in which Si particles are dispersed in a lithium silicate phase have been proposed (for example, see Patent Documents 2 and 3).
- the conventional Si-based active material containing a lithium silicate phase has a problem in that the components of the lithium silicate phase are eluted into the negative electrode mixture slurry used for forming the negative electrode mixture layer.
- the eluted components react with the binder, causing a problem that the adhesiveness of the negative electrode mixture layer to the negative electrode core body is reduced.
- the negative electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a composite oxide phase containing lithium (Li), silicon (Si), aluminum (Al), and boron (B), And Si particles dispersed in an oxide phase.
- the content of Li is 5 mol% or more and 20 mol% or less
- the content of Si is 50 mol% or more and 70 mol% with respect to the total number of moles of the elements except oxygen (O) contained in the composite oxide phase.
- the content of Al is 12 mol% or more and 25 mol% or less
- the content of B is 12 mol% or more and 25 mol% or less.

- the conventional Si-containing compound represented by SiO x has a structure in which fine Si particles are dispersed in an amorphous SiO 2 phase, and the following reaction occurs during charge and discharge.
- Decomposition of Equation 1 for Si and 2SiO 2 results in the following equation.
- 2SiO 2 + 8Li + + 8e ⁇ ⁇ Li 4 Si + Li 4 SiO 4 Equation 3 is an irreversible reaction, and the generation of Li 4 SiO 4 is a main factor that lowers the initial charge / discharge efficiency.
- Negative electrode active material according to the present disclosure, a lithium (Li), a Si-based active material Si particles in the composite oxide phase containing silicon (Si) is dispersed structure, SiO 2 as compared with the conventional SiO x Content is significantly lower. Therefore, in the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the negative electrode active material, the reaction of Formula 3 is unlikely to occur, and it is considered that the initial charge / discharge efficiency is improved.
- the composite oxide phase contains specific amounts of aluminum (Al) and boron (B).
- Al aluminum
- B boron
- the present inventors have found that by adding specific amounts of Al and B to a composite oxide phase containing Li and Si, elution of components of the composite oxide phase is specifically suppressed. . Therefore, by using the negative electrode active material according to the present disclosure, it is possible to increase the capacity of the battery and improve the initial charge / discharge efficiency, and to suppress the occurrence of a problem due to the elution of the component of the composite oxide phase.

In the negative electrode mixture layer 32, only the Si-based active material may be used alone as the negative electrode active material. However, since the volume change of the Si-based active material due to charge and discharge is larger than that of the carbon-based active material, the carbon-based active material is used together with the Si-based active material in order to maintain high cycle characteristics while maintaining a high capacity. Is preferred.

If the content of the Si particles 35 is too low, the charge / discharge capacity may decrease, and load characteristics may decrease due to poor diffusion of lithium ions. If the content of the Si particles 35 is too high, for example, a part of the Si is exposed without being covered with the composite oxide phase 34 and comes into contact with the electrolytic solution, and the cycle characteristics deteriorate.

- the median diameter of the negative electrode active material 33 is a particle diameter at which a volume integrated value becomes 50% in a particle size distribution measured by a laser diffraction scattering method. If the median diameter of the negative electrode active material 33 is too small, the reaction amount with the electrolyte increases and the capacity tends to decrease. - the pulverized mixture is heat-treated at, for example, 600 to 1000 ° C. in an inert atmosphere to synthesize a composite oxide containing Li, Si, Al, and B.
- the above composite oxide and Si particles are mixed at a predetermined mass ratio, crushed and mixed using a ball mill under an inert atmosphere, and then, using a heating device capable of applying pressure like a hot press, 3) heat treatment at a lower temperature (eg, 500 ° C. to 700 ° C.); By pulverizing the sintered body so that the median diameter becomes about 1 ⁇ m to 15 ⁇ m, base particles 36 in which Si particles 35 are dispersed in composite oxide phase 34 are obtained. Among them, it is particularly preferable to use a carbon material.
- Examples of a method of coating the surface of the base particles 36 with carbon include a CVD method using acetylene, methane, or the like, a method of mixing coal pitch, petroleum pitch, and phenol resin with the base particles 36 and performing a heat treatment.
- the carbon coating layer may be formed by fixing a conductive agent such as carbon black or Ketjen black on the surface of the base particles 36 using a binder.
- the conductive film 37 is preferably formed so as to cover substantially the entire surface of the base particles 36.
- the thickness of the conductive film 37 is preferably 1 to 200 nm, more preferably 5 to 100 nm, in consideration of securing conductivity and diffusibility of lithium ions into the base particles 36. If the thickness of the conductive film 37 is too thin, the conductivity is reduced, and it is difficult to uniformly cover the base particles 36. - the separator 40 may have a single-layer structure or a laminated structure. A heat-resistant layer or the like may be formed on the surface of the separator 40.
- Example 1 [Production of negative electrode active material (Si-based active material)] Each oxide containing each element of Li, Si, Al, and B is finely mixed by a planetary ball mill and heat-treated at 875 ° C. for 5 hours under an inert atmosphere to obtain Li, Si, Al, and B. The particles were mixed with coal pitch and heat-treated at 800 ° C. in an inert atmosphere to form a conductive film made of carbon on the surfaces of the particles.
- a mixture of the Si-based active material and graphite (carbon-based active material) at a mass ratio of 5:95 was used as a negative electrode active material.

(See Example 2 and Comparative Example 1). In addition, even if the content of only one of Al and B is 12 mol% or more, the effect of suppressing the elution of Li cannot be obtained (see Comparative Examples 3 and 4).

Abstract
Description
(1)SiOx(2Si+2SiO2)+16Li++16e-
→3Li4Si+Li4SiO4
Si、2SiO2について式1を分解すると下記の式になる。
(2)Si+4Li++4e- → Li4Si
(3)2SiO2+8Li++8e- → Li4Si+Li4SiO4
式3が不可逆反応であり、Li4SiO4の生成が初回充放電効率を低下させる主な要因となっている。
(1)SiOx(2Si+2SiO2)+16Li++16e-
→3Li4Si+Li4SiO4
Si、2SiO2について式1を分解すると下記の式になる。
(2)Si+4Li++4e- → Li4Si
(3)2SiO2+8Li++8e- → Li4Si+Li4SiO4

この場合、好適なリチウムシリケートは、Li2zSiO(2+z)(0<z<2)で表され、Li2SiO3(Z=1)、又はLi2Si2O5(Z=1/2)を主成分とする。
