Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electrolytic capacitor used in a high frequency region.
- An electrolytic capacitor is formed by impregnating a capacitor element with an electrolyte.
- the capacitor element is formed by opposing an anode foil formed by forming a dielectric film on a valve metal foil such as aluminum and a cathode foil made of the same or other metal foil.
- the separator is interposed between the anode foil and the cathode foil.
- the capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor is proportional to the size of the surface area of the substrate, and inversely proportional to the thickness of the dielectric film formed on the surface.
- the electrode foil of the electrolytic capacitor is subjected to a surface expansion treatment such as etching, and the surface expansion portion subjected to the surface expansion treatment is subjected to a chemical conversion treatment to have a dielectric film having a large surface area.
- an electrochemical method is mainly used for etching. *
- electrolytic capacitors are used in digital equipment in which information processing in a high frequency region exceeding several tens of kHz is generalized. Even in a high frequency region exceeding several tens of kHz, the electrolytic capacitor is required to have a capacitance. It is known that in the high frequency region over several tens of kHz, the capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor decreases compared to the capacitance in the low frequency region of 120 Hz. This phenomenon is attributed to the fact that the responsiveness of the high-speed switching operation is deteriorated in the deep part of the pit due to the etching pit length and does not contribute to the expression of the capacitance in the entire pit in the high frequency region. .
- the capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor is based on the capacitance measured in the frequency region of 120 Hz which is a low frequency region in accordance with 4.7 (capacitance) of JIS C5101-1. Further, it is considered that the relative capacitance relationship among the plurality of electrolytic capacitors is not limited to frequency but is constant. For this reason, for example, the magnitude relationship of the capacitances of a plurality of electrolytic capacitors used in the high frequency region of 100 kHz and the magnitude relationship of the capacitances in the frequency region of 120 Hz have been considered to be the same. *
- electrolytic capacitors are expanded not only in the low frequency region but also in the high frequency region of several tens of kHz or more, and the electrostatic capacity is also required in the high frequency region. There is a need for electrolytic capacitors that exhibit higher capacitance.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an electrolytic capacitor having a large capacitance in a high frequency region in order to solve the above-described problems of the prior art.
- the present inventor has found that even if the electrolytic capacitor is inferior in capacitance at 120 Hz, if the capacity maintenance rate of the capacitance of 100 kHz with respect to the capacitance of 120 Hz is 50% or more, several tens kHz or more When it was used in the frequency range, the superiority and inferiority of the capacity of the electrolytic capacitor was reversed, and the knowledge of high capacitance was obtained.
- an electrolytic capacitor according to the present invention is an electrolytic capacitor having an electrode foil and an electrolytic solution, and the capacitance at 100 kHz is 50% or more with respect to the capacitance at 120 Hz. It is characterized by being. *
- the capacitance at 100 kHz may be 65% or more with respect to the capacitance at 120 Hz.
- the capacitor may be used in a frequency region of 100 kHz or higher.
- ethylene glycol may be mainly used as the electrolytic solution of the electrolytic capacitor.
- the electrode foil may be an aluminum foil.
- the present invention it is possible to realize a large capacitance even in the high frequency region by increasing the capacity retention rate of the electrolytic capacitor from the low frequency region to the high frequency region.

- This electrode foil is expanded on both sides by etching.
- the expanded electrode foil has many tunnel-like etching pits dug down from both sides of the electrode foil toward the thickness center.
- the tunnel-like etching pit is a cylindrical hole, and this electrode foil has a remaining core portion where the etching pit does not reach.

- the acidic aqueous solution is, for example, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sodium chloride, or a mixture thereof.
- the electrode foil has a dielectric film formed by chemical conversion treatment.
- the dielectric film is formed by oxidizing the surface of the electrode foil including the inner wall surface of the etching pit.

- the electrolytic capacitor of the present embodiment has a capacity maintenance ratio indicating a ratio of the electrostatic capacity at 120 Hz to the electrostatic capacity at 100 kHz is 50% or more.
- Capacitance maintenance rate of electrolytic capacitor is 50% or more, so that capacitance can be relatively increased in high frequency range of several tens of kHz or more compared to electrolytic capacitor with capacity maintenance rate of less than 50%. It becomes. That is, in an electrolytic capacitor of the same size, by setting the capacity maintenance rate to 50% or more, the capacitance that was inferior in a low frequency region such as 120 Hz is lower than that of an electrolytic capacitor having a capacity maintenance rate of less than 50%. Reverse in the high frequency range.
- the capacity maintenance rate of the electrolytic capacitor may be 65% or more.
- the capacity maintenance rate By setting the capacity maintenance rate to 65% or more, the amount of gas generated is suppressed in the high frequency region of 100 kHz.

- the capacity retention rate is a ratio of the electrostatic capacity measured at 100 kHz to the electrostatic capacity measured at 120 Hz in the electrolytic capacitor, and is calculated from the following formula (1).
- Example 1 shows the capacity retention rate of each electrolytic capacitor. As shown in Table 1, capacity retention rate 85% as Example 1, capacity retention rate 65% as Example 2, capacity retention rate 60% as Example 3, capacity retention rate 50% as Example 4, comparative example 1 An electrolytic capacitor having a capacity maintenance rate of 40% was used. Each electrolytic capacitor having a different capacity retention rate was manufactured by the following steps.
- Example 1 The electrolytic capacitor of Example 1 is a wound electrolytic capacitor having a size of 35 mm in diameter and 50 mm in height.
- the anode foil, cathode foil, and separator used in the following are matched to the size of the electrolytic capacitor.
- This anode foil was subjected to a two-stage etching process on an aluminum foil. In the etching process, in the first step, the aluminum foil was etched electrochemically with a direct current in an aqueous solution containing hydrochloric acid to form etching pits. In the second step, the aluminum foil was etched electrochemically or chemically in an aqueous solution containing nitric acid to enlarge the already formed etching pits.
- the electrode foil on which the etching pits were formed was subjected to chemical conversion treatment in an aqueous ammonium borate solution to form an oxide film layer on the surface.
- the depth of the etching pit was 20 ⁇ m.
- an aluminum foil having a length corresponding to the foil length of the anode foil and an electrode foil thickness of about 20 ⁇ m was used as the cathode foil.
- the cathode foil was subjected to an AC etching process to form spongy etching pits on the surface. *
- Example 1 the electrode foil thickness of the anode foil was 55 ⁇ m. Based on this electrode foil thickness and case size, an aluminum foil having an electrode foil length of 3750 mm was used.
- the length of the electrode foil depends on the electrode foil thickness. That is, when the inner diameter of the case is constant, the maximum diameter of the capacitor element that can be inserted into the case is constant. Therefore, when the material constituting the capacitor element is thick, the length of the material that can be wound is larger than when the material is thin. In contrast, when the material constituting the capacitor element is thin, the length of the material becomes long.
- the anode foil and the cathode foil were wound into a cylindrical shape with a separator having a thickness of 60 ⁇ m interposed therebetween to form a capacitor element.
- This capacitor element was impregnated with an electrolytic solution containing ethylene glycol as a main solvent.
- An anode terminal and a cathode terminal are connected to the anode foil and the cathode foil, respectively, and are drawn out from the capacitor element.
- the anode terminal and the cathode terminal are connected to external terminals provided on a sealing body in which an elastic insulator such as a rubber plate is attached to the front and back surfaces of a hard substrate insulating plate such as a synthetic resin plate.

- Examples 2 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 As in Example 1, the electrolytic capacitors of Examples 2 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 are wound electrolytic capacitors having a size of 35 mm in diameter and 50 mm in height. . The electrolytic capacitors of Examples 2 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 have different capacity retention ratios by adjusting the electrode foil thickness, electrode foil length, and pit depth in the anode foil to the values shown in Table 2. An electrolytic capacitor was produced. Table 2 is a table showing the pit depth, electrode foil thickness, remaining core thickness, and electrode foil length in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1.

Based on this electrode foil thickness and case size, an aluminum foil having an electrode foil length of 3500 mm was used. The depth of the etching pit formed on both surfaces of the anode foil was 27 ⁇ m on both surfaces. Since etching pits having a depth of 27 ⁇ m are formed on both surfaces of the electrode foil having an electrode foil thickness of 69 ⁇ m, the thickness of the remaining core portion where no etching pits are formed is 15 ⁇ m.
- the electrolytic capacitor of Example 3 had an electrode foil thickness of 81 ⁇ m as an anode foil. Based on this electrode foil thickness and case size, an aluminum foil having an electrode foil length of 3311 mm was used.
- the depth of the etching pit formed on both surfaces of the anode foil was 33 ⁇ m on both surfaces.

Based on the thickness of the electrode foil and the case size, an aluminum foil having an electrode foil length of 2917 mm was used. The depth of the etching pit formed on both surfaces of the anode foil was 48 ⁇ m on both surfaces.
- the electrode foil thickness of the anode foil was 125 ⁇ m. Based on the thickness of the electrode foil and the case size, an aluminum foil having an electrode foil length of 2763 mm was used. The depth of the etching pit formed on both surfaces of the anode foil was 55 ⁇ m on both surfaces. *
- An aluminum foil having a length corresponding to the foil length of the anode foils of Examples 2 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 and capable of being enclosed in a case having a diameter of 35 mm and a height of 50 mm and having an electrode foil thickness of about 20 ⁇ m is used as the cathode.
- the electrolytic capacitors of Examples 2 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 were the same as those of Example 1 except for the electrode foil thickness, electrode foil length, and pit depth in the anode foil, and the electrode foil thickness and electrode foil length of the cathode foil. It was produced in the same method and under the same conditions as the capacitor. *

- an LCR meter manufactured by Agilent Technologies, 4284A
- the ambient temperature was 20 ° C.
- the AC voltage level was 0.5 Vrms or less
- the measurement frequency was in the range of 120 Hz to 100 kHz.
- Charging at each frequency and measurement of capacitance were plotted three times on an average of the results of three measurements.
- the results are shown in FIG. Table 3 shows the capacity retention ratio, the pit depth, and the capacitance of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1.
- the electrostatic capacity in Table 3 indicates values measured at 120 Hz and 100 kHz. *
- the capacitance at 120 Hz was 658 ⁇ F, and the capacitance at 100 kHz was 263 ⁇ F.

Therefore, even in comparison with Example 4 having a capacity retention rate of 50%, the capacitance at 120 Hz is superior to that of Comparative Example 1, but the capacitance at 100 kHz is larger in Example 4.
- Examples 1 to 4 having a capacity retention rate of 50% or more are reversed in the high frequency region even if the capacitance is inferior in the low frequency region as compared with Comparative Example 1 in which the capacity retention rate is less than 50%. did. *
- the electrostatic capacity at 120 Hz is the largest in Comparative Example 1 compared to the electrostatic capacity in Examples 1 to 4.
- the capacitance gradually decreases as the measurement frequency increases from 120 Hz to 10 kHz.
- the rate of decrease is large in Comparative Example 1 and Example 4 where the capacitance at 120 Hz is large, and small in Examples 1 and 2 where the capacitance at 120 Hz is small.
- the magnitude relationship between the capacitances of Comparative Example 1 and Examples 1 to 4 is the same as the capacitance magnitude relationship at 120 Hz.
- Comparative Example 1 is about 312 ⁇ F
- Example 1 is about 346 ⁇ F
- Example 2 is about 321 ⁇ F
- Example 3 is about 365 ⁇ F
- Example 4 Is about 336 ⁇ F
- the capacitance of Comparative Example 1 is the smallest among Comparative Example 1 and Examples 1 to 4. That is, Comparative Example 1 having the largest capacitance at 120 Hz in the low frequency region has the smallest capacitance near 67 kHz in the high frequency region.
- the electrostatic capacity reversal mechanism is not limited to this, but is presumed as follows. That is, the capacitance of the electrolytic capacitor is determined by the size of the specific surface area per unit area of the substrate, the thickness of the dielectric film, and the area of the entire anode foil.
- the surface area of the dielectric film takes into account the depth of the etching pits where the dielectric film is formed and the pit diameter of the etching pits. That is, as the depth of the etching pit increases, the surface area of the dielectric film increases, and as the diameter of the etching pit increases, the surface area of the dielectric film increases.
- Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 it was prepared under the same conditions except for the pit depth, and it can be inferred that the pit diameters of the etching pits are the same. *
- the comparison of the surface area of the dielectric film between Comparative Example 1 and Example 1 can be performed by comparing the pit depths of Comparative Example 1 and Example 1.
- the depth of the pits in Comparative Example 1 and Example 1 is 55 ⁇ m in Comparative Example 1 and 2.75 times 20 ⁇ m in Example 1. Therefore, the surface area of the dielectric film in Comparative Example 1 is the same as that in Example 1. It is wider than the surface area of the dielectric film.
- Comparative Example 1 exhibits a large capacitance at 120 Hz
- the surface area of the dielectric film has a dominant influence on the capacitance at 120 Hz, while the capacity retention rate is increased. It can be inferred that this will have an adverse effect.
- Example 1 the length of the electrode foil of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 is 3750 mm in Example 1, which is 1.36 times that of 2763 mm in Comparative Example 1.
- the capacity maintenance rate of Example 1 is as large as 85% and the difference between the electrostatic capacity of 120 Hz and 100 kHz is small, there is an advantageous effect that the electrostatic capacity can be maintained even at 100 kHz.
- it can be assumed that the influence on the capacitance is small at 120 Hz.
- an electrolytic capacitor having a capacity retention rate of less than 50% has a large pit depth, so that the surface area of the dielectric film is large and the electrostatic capacity at 120 Hz is large.
- the depth of the pit cannot be effectively used, and since the length of the electrode foil is short, a high capacitance cannot be maintained, and the capacitance greatly increases as it approaches 100 kHz. To drop.
- an electrolytic capacitor having a capacity maintenance ratio of 50% or more has a shallow pit depth, so that the surface area of the dielectric film is small and a large capacitance cannot be expressed at 120 Hz.
- shallow pits are used efficiently in the high frequency region above several tens of kHz, and since the electrode foil is long, a high capacitance is obtained even in the high frequency region above several tens of kHz. Can be maintained. From the above results, it can be inferred that the capacitance reversal occurs between an electrolytic capacitor having a capacity retention rate of less than 50% at 100 kHz and an electrolytic capacitor having a capacity retention rate of 50% or more. This reversal phenomenon started at least around 67 kHz as a lower limit, and was confirmed to be remarkable at 100 kHz. *
- the measurement of the gas generation amount of the electrolytic capacitors of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 is based on the amount of bulging of the case bottom and the operation time of the safety valve on the case bottom for each elapsed time. I went to the group. In the measurement, five electrolytic capacitors of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 were prepared. The ripple current was continuously supplied to these electrolytic capacitors so that the ripple frequency was 100 kHz, the ripple current was 4.4 Arms, and the peak of the applied voltage was 420 V under the condition of the ambient temperature of 105 ° C. And the amount of swelling of the case bottom for every elapsed time and the time when the safety valve of the case bottom operated were measured. The results are shown in FIG. FIG. 2 shows the amount of swelling of the case bottom for each elapsed time in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1. *
- the case bottom gradually expands due to the gas generated inside as time elapses.
- the amount of swelling of the case is about 1.5 mm in Comparative Example 1, which is about 1.5 times that in Example 1 and Example 2.
- the pressure in the electrolytic capacitor becomes larger than the operating pressure of the safety valve on the case bottom, and the safety valve operates. That is, in Comparative Example 1, when the elapsed time exceeds 2500 hours, the safety valve operates with two electrolytic capacitors out of five electrolytic capacitors, and when the elapsed time exceeds 3000 hours, the safety valves operate with the remaining three electrolytic capacitors. . Further, in Example 4, when the elapsed time exceeds 3000 hours, the safety valves are activated by all of the five electrolytic capacitors.
- Example 3 when the elapsed time exceeds 3000 hours, the safety valve operates with one of the five electrolytic capacitors, and when the elapsed time exceeds 3500 hours, the safety valve operates with the remaining four electrolytic capacitors. On the other hand, in the capacitors of Example 1 and Example 2, when the elapsed time is 3500 hours or less, the safety valve of the electrolytic capacitor does not operate.
- an electrolytic capacitor having an electrostatic capacity at 100 kHz of 65% or more with respect to an electrostatic capacity at 120 Hz has high reliability against deterioration over time even in a high frequency region where the ripple frequency is 100 kHz. . *
- ESR measurement The ESR of the electrolytic capacitors of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 was measured.
- the ESR measurement was performed under the same conditions as in the first characteristic comparison. That is, the ambient temperature was 20 ° C., the AC voltage level was 0.5 Vrms or less, and the measurement frequency was in the range of 120 Hz to 100 kHz. Charging and capacitance measurement at each frequency were performed three times, and the average value was plotted on a graph with the horizontal axis representing frequency and the vertical axis representing capacitance. The result is shown in FIG. *
- the ESR at 120 Hz is about 140 m ⁇ in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1, but the ESR at 100 kHz is 90 m ⁇ in Example 1, 90 m ⁇ in Example 2, and 100 m ⁇ in Example 3.
- Example 4 is 120 m ⁇
- Comparative Example 1 is 120 m ⁇ . That is, it was confirmed that the ESR at 100 kHz is low when the capacity retention rate is 60% or more. Therefore, from the viewpoint of ESR at 100 kHz, it was confirmed that the capacity maintenance ratio is desirably 60% or more. *
- the ESR of the capacitor can be set low, self-heating when applying a ripple current is suppressed, and a capacitor with a low loss and a long life can be designed with respect to applying a ripple current in a high frequency region.

Abstract
