- the side wall portion 210 is located on the opposite side (the occupant side) from the inflator 206 as viewed from the side frame 112 in the left-right direction of the seat 102 and supports the cushion 202 to be inflated and deployed from the side of the occupant side. Increase occupant restraint.
- the rear wall portion 212 is a portion extending in the lateral direction of the sheet 102 (see FIG. 3) from the base portion 208 toward the rear end of the side wall portion 210.
- the rear wall portion 212 supports the cushion 202 from the rear side of the vehicle at the time of inflation and deployment, and has a function of causing the cushion 202 to inflate and deploy quickly and smoothly.
- the rear wall portion 212 makes surface contact with the rear of the inflating and deploying cushion 202 and supports the cushion 202 from the rear.
- the side wall portion 210 is in surface contact with the side of the occupant side of the inflating and deploying cushion 202 in the front-rear direction, and supports the cushion 202 from the side.
- the cushion 202 can expand and deploy quickly and smoothly to the front of the seat 102 (see FIG. 3) by obtaining a reaction force from the rear wall portion 212 and the side wall portion 210, and can improve occupant protection performance. It has become.
- an angle ⁇ 2 formed by the rear wall 212 and the base portion 208 across the side frame 112 is 90 ° or more It is suitable.
- the rear wall portion 212 of this configuration it is possible to apply a reaction force to the cushion 202 at an angle toward the front of the seat 102 or at an angle toward the front slightly opposite to the occupant. Therefore, the cushion 202 can be inflated and deployed smoothly, and the occupant protection performance can be improved.
- the front edge 126 of the side frame 112 is bent toward the inflator 206 (opposite to the occupant), the front end of the base portion 208 of the holding plate 204 The portion may be bent along the rear side of the front edge of the side frame 112 to the side opposite to the occupant, and further bent so as to cross the front edge and be connected to the rear wall 212.
- FIG. 6 is a view exemplifying a side airbag device 300 according to a third embodiment of the present invention.
- the side airbag device differs from the above embodiments in the shape of the holding plate.
- the sidewall 304 extends linearly from the base portion 306.
- the side wall portion 304 also supports the inflating and deploying cushion 108 from the side to the front and rear direction in front of the side frame 308. Also by the holding plate 302 of this configuration, it is possible to apply a reaction force to the cushion 108 and to increase the occupant restraining force of the cushion 108.
- the holding plate 302 can also be attached to the side surface of the side frame 308 opposite to the occupant together with the cushion 108 and the inflator 110 as in the second embodiment.
- FIG. 7 is a view illustrating the cushion 108 and the holding plate 118 in the housed state of FIG. 3.
- the cover 116 of the present embodiment is mainly configured of a felt material containing a polymer fiber as a heat-welding cloth.
- a rib 133 is formed at the front edge of the side wall portion 122 of the holding plate 118.
- the rib 133 is bent from the side wall portion 122 toward the occupant side, and is useful in terms of structural and manufacturing such as securing rigidity.
- a front end portion 132 a on the vehicle front side is welded near the rib 133 of the side wall portion 122.
- a rear end portion 132b on the vehicle rear side of the cover 116 is provided with a hole for passing a bolt at a predetermined position, and can be hooked and fixed to the stud bolt 114a.
- the cover 116 may be configured to cover the entire cushion 108 together with the holding plate 118, or may be configured to cover only a partial area of the cushion 108. In any configuration, the cover 116 suitably holds the cushion 108 in the stored form, and the cushion 108, the inflator 110, and the holding plate 118 as well as after being attached to the side frame 112 (see FIG. 3). Can be handled as one structure (airbag module 130) as a whole.
- the cover 116 is not limited to the heat-welded cloth, and may be formed of the same material as the base cloth of the cushion 108 or a non-woven fabric containing various polymer fibers.
- the cover 116 and the holding plate 118 can be integrally coupled to the holding plate 118 by heat welding if the cover 116 uses a heat-welding cloth.
- the connection of the cover 116 to the holding plate 118 can be performed by a method and timing different from heat welding, such as use or sewing of an adhesive.
- FIG. 8 is a view illustrating a first modified example of the holding plate 118 of FIG.
- the retaining plate 134 illustrated in FIG. 8 differs from the retaining plate 118 of FIG. 3 in that the base portion 120 is not provided with a bent front end 128 (see FIG. 3). Accordingly, the air bag module 138 can be suitably attached to the flat side frame 140 without the bent leading edge 126 (see FIG. 3). Even with this holding plate 134, the rear wall portion 124 and the side wall portion 122 support the cushion 108 from the vehicle rear side and the side at the time of inflation and deployment, and rapid expansion and deployment of the cushion 108 and improvement of occupant restraint force It is possible to plan.
- FIG. 9 is a view exemplifying a second modified example of the holding plate 118 of FIG.
- the holding plate 142 illustrated in FIG. 9 differs from the holding plate 118 of FIG. 3 in that the rib 133 (see FIG. 7) at the leading edge is omitted. This is to make the airbag module 144 conform to the shape of the seat pad 146 (urethane material) of the seat 102.
- the side wall portion 122 of the holding plate 142 linearly extends from the rear wall portion 124 toward the front edge on the vehicle front side due to the absence of the rib 133 (see FIG. 7).
- the cover 116 is coupled to the front edge of the straight side wall 122.
- the cover 116 is formed of a material having a certain degree of flexibility, such as a heat-welded cloth or other non-woven cloth, or a cloth similar to the base cloth of the cushion 108.
- the holding plate 142 can be freely formed after securing the base portion 120 and the side wall portion 122, such as omitting the rib 133 (see FIG. 7) and the front end portion 128 (see FIG. 8).
- the air bag module 144 can appropriately change the shape of the cushion 108 in the storage form according to the inner shape of the seat pad 146, such as making the tip end side of the cushion 108 into a triangular shape with an inclined cross section. Even when the thickness 146 is thick, it is possible to efficiently install in the narrow space inside the sheet 102.
- the present invention can be used for a side airbag device provided in a vehicle seat.
