Description

カバーテープおよび電子部品包装体
 本発明は、カバーテープおよび電子部品包装体に関する。より詳細には、半導体ICチップなどの電子部品を運搬するために格納ポケットを備えるキャリアテープをヒートシールすることが可能なカバーテープと、電子部品が格納されたキャリアテープにカバーテープをヒートシールして得られる電子部品包装体に関する。
 半導体ICチップなどの電子部品は、その製造後、実装工程に提供されるまでの間、汚染を防止すべく包装材にてパッキングされ、紙製或いはプラスチック製のリールに巻かれた状態で、保管および輸送される。この電子部品の包装には、自動実装装置による基板への実装工程に対応するように、テープ状の包装材が用いられており、この包装材は、長尺のシートに所定の間隔をおいて複数個の凹状の格納ポケットが形成されたキャリアテープと、該キャリアテープにヒートシールされるカバーテープから構成される。このような包装材によりパッキングされた電子部品は、カバーテープがキャリアテープから剥離された後、パッケージから自動的に取出され、電子回路基板上に実装される。
 電子部品包装体の包装材として用いられるカバーテープとして、例えば、特許文献1には、基材層、中間層およびシーラント層を含み、中間層が特定の加熱収縮率を有することにより、ヒートシール時にカバーテープの浮き上がりをなくし、カバーテープとキャリアテープの間の隙間の発生を抑えることができるカバーテープが開示されている。また、例えば、特許文献2には、基材層およびシーラント層を含み、基材層とシーラント層の熱収縮率の差を特定の値とすることにより、ヒートシール時におけるカバーテープの反りを抑制し、カバーテープをキャリアテープにヒートシールする際の位置ずれの発生を低減することができるカバーテープが開示されている。

 しかし、特許文献1および特許文献2に記載のカバーテープでも、ヒートシールする際に生じる浮き上がりの制御が十分であるとはいえなかった。
 本発明は、上記事情を鑑みてなされたものであり、ヒートシール時にカバーテープが熱収縮することによるカバーテープの円弧状の浮き上がりの発生を低減し、カバーテープとキャリアテープの間の隙間の発生を低減することができるカバーテープを提供する。これにより、電子部品のキャリアテープからのはみ出しや、電子部品の回転や転倒を抑制し、電子部品の実装効率を高めることができるカバーテープを提供する。
 本発明者らは、鋭意研究を重ねた結果、ヒートシールコテによりカバーテープをキャリアテープにヒートシールする際、ヒートシールコテがカバーテープに接近してカバーテープが加熱されることにより、ヒートシール前にカバーテープが熱収縮して、円弧状に膨らむことを見出した。膨らみの生じたカバーテープをヒートシールコテでキャリアテープにヒートシールすると、カバーテープが円弧状に浮き上がった状態でキャリアテープにヒートシールされるため、カバーテープとキャリアテープの間に隙間が生じる。本発明者らは、基材層と中間層とを備えるカバーテープにおいて、ヒートシールコテがカバーテープに接近した場合の温度である80℃における中間層の寸法変化を制御することにより、ヒートシール時の浮き上がりが低減されたカバーテープが得られることを見出し、本発明を完成させた。

 本実施形態に係る電子部品包装用カバーテープ10は、図1に示すように、基材層3と、基材層3の一方の面に設けられた中間層1とを含む。ここで、カバーテープ10は、基材層3/中間層1の二層構造であってもよいし、例えば、中間層1にシーラント層2が積層された、基材層3/中間層1/シーラント層2のような多層構造であってもよい。
 ここで、カバーテープの使用方法について図2を参照して説明する。図2に示すとおり、カバーテープ10は、電子部品の形状に合わせて凹状のポケット21が連続的に設けられたキャリアテープ20の蓋材として用いられる。具体的には、カバーテープ10は、キャリアテープ20のポケット21の開口部全面を覆うように、キャリアテープ20の表面に接着(例えば、ヒートシール)させて使用する。なお、後述においては、カバーテープ10と、キャリアテープ20とを接着して得られた構造体のことを、電子部品包装体100と称する。
 電子機器の製造現場においては、キャリアテープ20のポケット21内に電子部品を収容し、次いで、キャリアテープ20のポケット21の開口部全面を覆うように、キャリアテープ20の表面にカバーテープ10を接着することで、電子部品が収容された包装体100が作製される。この包装体100は、上述のように、紙製あるいはプラスチック製のリールに包装体100を巻いた状態で、電子回路基板等に表面実装を行う作業領域まで搬送される。電子部品の表面実装工程において、カバーテープ10がキャリアテープ20から剥離されて、電子部品がパッケージから自動的に取出され、電子回路基板上に実装される。
 本実施形態のカバーテープ10は、中間層1が電子部品側となるようにキャリアテープ20に接着される。カバーテープ10のキャリアテープ20への接着は、ヒートシールコテを用いて、180℃程度の温度で加熱することにより行われる。ヒートシール時の浮き上がりとは、図3に示すように、カバーテープ10が、キャリアテープ20の側と反対側に膨らむことをいう。また浮き上がりが低減されたとは、図3において浮き上がり量30で規定される、カバーテープ10の膨らみの程度が小さいことをいう。
 本実施形態のカバーテープ10は、中間層1の、23℃における寸法をT0とし、80℃で2時間加熱した後の寸法をT1としたとき、以下の式(1)で表される、中間層1の流れ方向(MD方向)の寸法変化率が-4%以上4%以下であり、幅方向(TD方向)の寸法変化率が0%以上2%以下である。
 寸法変化率(%)=[(T0-T1)/T0]×100  式(1)
 80℃における中間層1の寸法変化率は、ヒートシールコテが接近したときの熱によるカバーテープ10の寸法変化の程度の指標となる。80℃における中間層1の寸法変化率が上記範囲内であると、ヒートシールコテが接近したときの熱によるカバーテープ10の膨らみが抑制できるため、ヒートシール時のカバーテープ10の浮き上がりを抑制することができる。カバーテープ10の浮き上がりの程度は、図3に示す、浮き上がり量30として評価できる。中間層1の80℃におけるMD方向の寸法変化率は、-4%以上4%以下であり、-2%以上2%以下であることが好ましい。中間層1の80℃におけるTD方向の寸法変化率は、0%以上2%以下であり、0.1%以上1%以下であることが好ましい。このような中間層1を備えるカバーテープ10は、寸法安定性に優れ、ヒートシールコテが接近した際の加熱による寸法変化が抑制されるため、キャリアテープ20にヒートシールされた際の浮き上がり量30が小さく、キャリアテープ20に収容された電子部品のはみ出しや回転を防ぐことができる。
 カバーテープ10の加熱による寸法変化は、中間層1の80℃における寸法変化率を調整することにより、制御することができる。中間層1と、当該分野で通常用いられる基材層3とからカバーテープ10を作製した場合、上述の寸法変化特性を有する中間層1を用いることにより、キャリアテープ20にヒートシールされた際のカバーテープ10の浮き上がり量30を、0μm以上40μm以下に制御することができる。
 基材層3は、当該基材層3に対して中間層1やシーラント層2を積層してカバーテープ10を作製する際や、キャリアテープ20に対してカバーテープ10を接着させる際に、カバーテープ10に加わる応力に耐え得ることができる程度の機械的強度を有し、ヒートシール時にかかる熱履歴に耐えうる程度の耐熱性を有したものであればよい。また、基材層3を構成する材料の形態は、特に限定されないが、加工が容易である観点から、フィルム状に加工されたものであることが好ましい。
 一実施形態において、基材層3は熱可塑性樹脂からなり、例えばポリエステル樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、ポリオレフィン樹脂、ポリアクリレート樹脂、ポリメタアクリレート樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂、ポリカーボネート樹脂、ABS樹脂等の熱可塑性樹脂より成膜されたフィルム、特に二軸延伸フィルムを好適に用いることができる。好ましくは二軸延伸ポリエチレンテレフタレートフィルムであり、いずれも市販のフィルムを用いることができる。基材層3の厚さは、一般的には、5μm以上50μm以下である。
 基材層3には、帯電防止処理のための帯電防止剤が塗布または練り込まれたもの、またはコロナ処理や易接着処理などを施したものを用いてもよい。
 中間層1の寸法変化率は、中間層1の材料、材料の組成、厚み、製造方法等を適宜選択することにより、制御することができる。
 中間層1は、ポリエチレン樹脂およびポリプロピレン樹脂から選択される少なくとも1つを含む樹脂組成物をインフレーション法により成膜して得られる膜であることが好ましい。中間層1に用いるポリエチレン樹脂としては、低密度ポリエチレン、直鎖状低密度ポリエチレン、高密度ポリエチレン、およびエチレン-アクリル酸メチル、アクリル酸エチル、アクリル酸プロピル、アクリル酸ノルマルブチルなどのエチレン-アクリル酸エステルランダム共重合樹脂、エチレン-酢酸ビニルランダム共重合樹脂等が挙げられる。エチレン-アクリル酸エステルランダム共重合樹脂、エチレン-酢酸ビニルランダム共重合樹脂は、エチレン単位を99質量%以下50質量%以上含有するものを用いることができる。エチレン比率が50質量%以上の時、中間層1が軟らかく、ヒートシール時のヒートシールコテの圧力ムラを分散させることができるため好ましい。またこのような中間層1は、ヒートシール時の寸法変化が小さいため好ましい。中間層1の厚みは、10μm以上30μm以下であることが好ましい。
 ポリプロピレン樹脂としては、プロピレンのみの重合により得られたポリプロピレン、およびエチレンープロピレンのランダム共重合樹脂などが挙げられる。
 シーラント層2を用いる場合、このシーラント層2はキャリアテープ20に対してヒートシール性を有し、使用時に容易に剥がすことのできる易剥離性を示す熱可塑性樹脂からなり、例えばポリエチレン樹脂、エチレン-酢酸ビニル共重合体、エチレン-アクリル酸エチル共重合体、およびエチレン-ブテン-1ランダム共重合体等のエチレン重合体より選択される1種以上の樹脂、ならびに、スチレン-ブタジエン共重合体、ポリスチレンおよび耐衝撃性ポリスチレン等のスチレン重合体より選択される1種以上の樹脂の混合物等を用いることができる。中でも、キャリアテープ20にヒートシールして剥離する際の剥離強度が連続して安定している点で、エチレン-ブテン-1ランダム共重合体、スチレン-ブタジエン共重合体および耐衝撃性ポリスチレンのブレンドが好ましい。シーラント層2の厚みは、0.2μm以上40μm以下が好ましく、さらに好ましくは0.3μ以上30μm以下である。シーラント層2の厚さが0.2μm未満の場合にはヒートシール時に十分な剥離強度を得にくく、一方シーラント層2の厚さが40μmを越える場合にはヒートシールのためのシールコテの温度を高く設定する必要がある、あるいはヒートシールのためにシールコテを接触させる時間を長くする必要があるなど、使用上の制約を生じやすい。
 本実施形態のカバーテープ10を製造する方法は、特に限定されるものではなく、当該分野で一般的に用いられる製造方法を用いることができる。例えば、二軸延伸フィルムである基材層3、中間層1およびシーラント層2をそれぞれ準備しておいて、それぞれの層間をドライラミネート法によって積層してもよいし、押出ラミネート法で積層しても良い。いずれの場合においても、必要に応じて各層間にアンカーコート剤を塗布して用いても良い。アンカーコート剤としては、ポリウレタンやポリオレフィン、エチレン-酢酸ビニル樹脂、エチレンーアクリル酸エステル樹脂、塩化ビニル-酢酸ビニル、ポリエチレンイミンなどを用いることができる。アンカーコート剤を塗布する方法も特に限定されるものではないが、コーターとしてロールコーター、グラビアコーター、リバースロールコーター、バーコーター、ダイコーター等の通常使用されているものを用いることができる。押出ラミネート法に関しては、本発明の効果に影響しない範囲においては、必要に応じて各層間にTダイ押出等により溶融したポリエチレン系の樹脂層(サンド樹脂層)を設けても良い。
 シーラント層2は、前記のようにシーラント層2を構成する各樹脂および添加剤をヘンシェルミキサー、タンブラーミキサー、マゼラー等の混合機を用いてブレンドした後、これを押出しキャスト法にて直接成膜するか、あるいは前記のブレンド物を単軸や二軸、遊星押出機などの混練押出機で溶融混練してペレットを作成し、Tダイ法、インフレーション法、キャスティング法、あるいはカレンダー法等の方法など一般的な方法を用いて成膜することにより作製される。
 あるいは、本実施形態のカバーテープ10は、シーラント層2を構成する樹脂と中間層1を構成する樹脂を、それぞれ別の単軸または二軸の押出機を用いて溶融混練し、両者をフィードブロックやマルチマニホールドダイを介して積層一体化した後、Tダイ法あるいはインフレーション法により共押し出しすることによりシーラント層2と中間層1からなる二層フィルムとし、この二層フィルムの中間層1側の表面を、前記のドライラミネート法や押出ラミネート法で基材層3と積層する方法を用いることもできる。この方法では、成膜したフィルムを巻き取る際にフィルムの表裏面が付着してしまう、いわゆるブロッキングを防ぎやすく、シーラント層2をより薄くすることができるという利点がある。
 上述の方法で作製したカバーテープ10は、目的の用途に合わせてスリットしてもよい。
 本実施形態のカバーテープ10の全体の厚さは、40μm以上90μm以下の範囲を好適に用いることができる。カバーテープ10の全体の厚さが40μm未満の場合には、カバーテープ10が薄いためにカバーテープの強度が不足して取り扱いが難しく、また、カバーテープ10の剥離時に破断し易い。一方、カバーテープ10の全体の厚さが90μmを超えるとヒートシールが難しくなる傾向にある。またカバーテープ10の幅は、1mm以上100mm以下であることが好ましい。
 実施例を参照して本発明を説明するが、本発明はこれらの実施例に限定されるものではない。
(実施例1)
 カバーテープの作製:基材層として、膜厚25μmの二軸延伸ポリエチレンテレフタレート製フィルム(東洋紡株式会社製、T6140)を準備した。この基材層に、中間層としてのポリエチレン(和光株式会社:LM-015)を膜厚が25μmとなるように積層した。この中間層をコロナ処理した後、シーラント層としてのアクリル系シーラント樹脂(大日本インキ株式会社製、A450A)を、膜厚が2μmとなるように成膜し、図1に示す層構造のカバーテープを得た。
 なお、中間層となるポリエチレン層の寸法変化率の測定は以下の方法により行った。まず、上述の中間層であるポリエチレンフィルムを、23℃、相対湿度50%の環境下で400mm角に切り出した。この試験フィルムの寸法を、T0とした。試験フィルムを80℃に設定したオーブン中で2時間加熱した後、このフィルムを取り出し、それぞれ流れ方向および幅方向に該当する方向の寸法を測定し、T1とした。各方向における寸法変化率を、以下の式(1)に従って算出した。結果を以下の表1に示す。

(比較例1)
 カバーテープの作製:基材層として、膜厚25μmの二軸延伸ポリエチレンテレフタレート製フィルム(東洋紡株式会社製、T6140)を準備した。この基材層に、中間層としてのポリエチレン(出光ユニテック株式会社:LS-711C)を膜厚が25μmとなるように積層した。この中間層をコロナ処理した後、シーラント層としてのアクリル系シーラント樹脂(大日本インキ株式会社製、A450A)を、膜厚が2μmとなるように成膜し、図1に示す層構造のカバーテープを得た。
 なお、中間層となるポリエチレン層の寸法変化率の測定は以下の方法により行った。まず、上述の中間層であるポリエチレンフィルムを、23℃、相対湿度50%の環境下で400mm角に切り出した。この試験フィルムの寸法を、T0とした。試験フィルムを80℃に設定したオーブン中で2時間加熱した後、このフィルムを取り出し、それぞれ流れ方向および幅方向に該当する方向の寸法を測定し、T1とした。各方向における寸法変化率を、以下の式(1)に従って算出した。結果を以下の表1に示す。

(カバーテープの浮き上がり量の測定)
 上記の実施例1および比較例1で得たカバーテープをそれぞれ、5.5mm幅にスリットし、8mm幅のキャリアテープに、以下の条件でヒートシールした。
 シール時のアイロン形状:刃幅 0.3mm/刃長 54mm /刃間隔 1.95mm
 シール温度:180℃
 シール時間:50ms
 シール圧力:4kgf
 その後、カバーテープの浮き上がり量を測定した。結果を以下の表1に示す。
(電子部品の回転の有無の評価)
 5.3mm幅にカットした実施例1および比較例1のカバーテープを、以下寸法を有する電子部品がポケットに収容されたキャリアテープに、ヒートシールして、電子部品包装体を得た。
 キャリアテープのポケット寸法:0.35mm(長さ)×0.65mm(幅)×0.35mm(高さ)
 電子部品の寸法:0.3mm(長さ)×0.6mm(幅)×0.3mm(高さ)
 この包装体に、600rpmで1分間の振動を加え、包装体からカバーテープを剥離し、電子部品の状態を目視にて確認し、電子部品が回転しているか否かを判定した。回転した電子部品数をカウントし、サンプル数1000個のうちの、回転した部品の数として下記表1に記載する。

 実施例1のカバーテープは、キャリアテープにヒートシールした際の浮き上がり量が低減されていた。そのため、キャリアテープに収容される電子部品の回転が抑制されていた。
 この出願は、2017年6月22日に出願された日本出願特願2017-122192号を基礎とする優先権を主張し、その開示の全てをここに取り込む。

Claims (8)

  1.  基材層と、前記基材層の一方の面に積層された中間層と、を備える電子部品包装用のカバーテープであって、
     前記中間層の、23℃における寸法をT0とし、80℃で2時間加熱した後の寸法をT1としたとき、以下の式(1)で表される、前記中間層の流れ方向(MD方向)の寸法変化率が-4%以上4%以下であり、幅方向(TD方向)の寸法変化率が0%以上2%以下である、カバーテープ:
     寸法変化率(%)=[(T0-T1)/T0]×100  式(1)。
  2.  シーラント層をさらに含み、
     前記基材層、前記中間層、前記シーラント層がこの順で積層された、請求項1に記載のカバーテープ。
  3.  前記中間層が、ポリエチレン樹脂およびポリプロピレン樹脂から選択される少なくとも1つを含む樹脂組成物のインフレーション膜である、請求項1または2に記載のカバーテープ。
  4.  前記基材層が、5μm以上50μm以下の厚みを有する、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のカバーテープ。
  5.  前記中間層が、10μm以上30μm以下の厚みを有する、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のカバーテープ。
  6.  前記シーラント層が、0.2μm以上40μm以下の厚みを有する、請求項2から5のいずれか一項に記載のカバーテープ。
  7.  1mm以上100mm以下の幅を有する、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載のカバーテープ。
  8.  電子部品が格納されたキャリアテープと、前記電子部品を封止するように前記キャリアテープに接着された請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のカバーテープと、を備える電子部品包装体。
