Abstract

課題は、高い上限温度、低い下限温度、小さな粘度、適切な光学異方性、負に大きな誘電率異方性、大きな比抵抗、紫外線に対する高い安定性、熱に対する高い安定性のような特性の少なくとも1つの特性を充足する、またはこれらの特性の少なくとも2つのあいだで適切なバランスを有する液晶組成物を提供することである。 長所は、液晶組成物に対する高い溶解性を有する化合物を有し、液晶表示素子の表示不良を抑制する効果を有する化合物を第一添加物として含有し、負の誘電率異方性を有する液晶組成物である。この組成物は第一成分として負に大きな誘電率異方性を有する特定の化合物、第二成分として高い上限温度または小さな粘度を有する特定の化合物、および第二添加物として重合性基を有する特定の化合物を含有してもよい。
