- the stability of the phenolic compound is improved by having a substituent at these positions. Furthermore, when the substituent is an electron donating group such as an alkyl group or an alkoxy group, it is considered that the electron density of the lone pair of oxygen atoms increases and the effect of confining holes is improved.
- the phenol structure is delocalized by the resonance effect at the 2, 4, and 6 positions when the negative charge is on the oxygen atom and the phenolic hydroxyl group is at the 1st position. It has been found that the driving stability is improved.
- the phenolic compound has a substituent only in any two of the 2, 4, and 6 positions when the phenolic hydroxyl group is at the 1 position.
- the reason for this is considered to be that the charge hopping transport is hardly inhibited by having a substituent only at any two of the 2, 4, and 6 positions when the phenolic hydroxyl group is at the 1-position.
- the phenolic hydroxyl group is in the 1st position, when there are substituents only in the 2nd, 4th and 6th positions, the lone pair of oxygen atoms in the hydroxyl group is protected and the phenolic group is protected. Since the compound is most stable, it is considered that the efficiency of the organic electroluminescence device is improved and the driving stability is also improved, which is particularly preferable.
- the oxygen atom and the alkoxy group of the phenolic hydroxyl group have a substituent only in any two of the 2, 4 and 6 positions when the phenolic hydroxyl group is at the 1-position. It is considered that the electron density of the oxygen atoms of the material increases moderately, and the excellent state of stability is maintained while improving the effect of confining holes.

- n is not particularly limited, but is preferably 3 or less, more preferably 2 or less, and most preferably 1. Since it spreads uniformly after the formation of the light emitting layer and the phenolic hydroxyl group concentration spreads uniformly, it is estimated that charge traps are generated uniformly and charge recombination occurs uniformly in the film, thereby preventing concentration quenching of excitons. In Examples 1 to 3, the luminance current efficiency is dramatically increased. In Comparative Examples 2 and 3 in which alkyl groups are substituted at all the ortho and para positions, the efficiency is only slightly increased. Moreover, it was confirmed that the luminance current efficiency was lowered when phenolic alkyl substituted only at the para position was used.

Description

n=2~5の場合、Aは連結基Lを有する。Lは、Aに対して、sp3混成軌道を有する炭素または酸素で結合する。Lは、2~6位のいずれに置換してもよいが、2,4,6位に置換する場合には、化合物Aの置換基の規定である「2,4,6位にはいずれか2ヶ所にのみ置換基を有する」に該当する。

Phys.

また、正孔輸送性化合物としては、ポリチオフェンの誘導体である3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(3,4-エチレンジオキシチオフェン)を高分子量ポリスチレンスルホン酸中で重合してなる導電性ポリマー(PEDOT/PSS)もまた好ましい。

Phys. Electron.
