Definitions
- the present invention relates to a forming tool, an optical fiber unit manufacturing method, and an optical cable manufacturing method.
- Patent Document 1 There is known an optical cable in which a plurality of optical fibers are arranged inside a presser wound tape processed into a spiral shape (cylindrical shape).
- a press-wound tape is passed through a forming tool having a spiral groove having an overlap portion, and the press-wound tape is formed in a spiral shape.
- Patent Documents 2 and 3 also disclose a forming tool (also referred to as a tape former) for forming a press-wound tape.
- JP2013-101175A Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-271581 JP 2004-12916 A
- Patent Document 1 After forming and crimping the presser winding tape into a spiral shape, it is necessary to once open the forming of the spiral presser tape in order to store the optical fiber bundle inside the presser tape ( (See paragraph 0034 of Patent Document 1). However, if the press-wound tape that is wound in a spiral shape is opened, the forming diameter of the press-wound tape increases. As a result, it becomes difficult to reduce the diameter of the optical cable core or the optical cable, or a gap is formed between the press-wound tape and the optical fiber bundle, so that wrinkles are formed in the press-wound tape and transmission characteristics of the optical fiber. May be reduced.
- the optical fiber tape core wire is gradually reduced in diameter with a tape former while the optical fiber tape core wire is placed on the belt-shaped presser winding, and the optical fiber tape core wire is surrounded by the presser winding.
- the optical fiber bundle is not guided, when the presser tape is formed in a spiral shape and the optical fiber bundle is wrapped, the optical fiber protruding from the optical fiber bundle is over the presser tape.
- the presser tape is formed in a spiral shape and the optical fiber bundle is wrapped, the optical fiber protruding from the optical fiber bundle is over the presser tape.
- There is a risk of disconnection between the wrap portions or the optical fiber protruding from the press-wound tape As a result, there is a risk of deteriorating the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber.
- An object of the present invention is to wrap an optical fiber bundle with a press-wound tape while guiding it.
- the main invention for achieving the above object is that (A) a guide pipe that guides an optical fiber bundle composed of a plurality of optical fibers, and (B) a guide tape that is pressed along the supply direction, A tape forming part for forming the presser winding tape in a spiral shape, wherein the bending part gradually curves the belt-like presser winding tape while guiding the presser winding tape along the supply direction; A spiral tubular portion downstream of the position where both edges of the presser tape intersect, and both ends of the presser wound tape curved at the curved portion are overlapped while guiding the presser wound tape along the supply direction.
- a tape forming part having a spiral part that spirally reduces the outer diameter of the spirally-wound presser tape, and (C) the front Outlet of the guide pipe is a forming tool, characterized in that arranged on the downstream side of a position where the edges of the curved portion intersects.

- the outlet of the guide pipe is disposed upstream of the downstream end of the spiral portion. Moreover, it is desirable that the inner diameter of the downstream end of the spiral portion is smaller than the outer diameter of the guide pipe. Thereby, the clearance gap between a pressing tape and an optical fiber bundle can be narrowed.
- downstream end of the guide pipe is cut obliquely to form an elliptical opening, and the distal end is formed downstream from the outlet located at the upstream end of the opening. Thereby, the clearance gap between a pressing tape and an optical fiber bundle can be narrowed.
- the outer surface of the tip portion is disposed to face the inner edge of the spiral portion. Thereby, it can suppress that an optical fiber penetrates into an overlap part.
- the tip portion is disposed inside the spiral portion having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter of the guide pipe. Therefore, the clearance gap between a pressing tape and an optical fiber bundle can be narrowed.
- a forming tool including a tape forming unit that forms the press-wound tape from a belt shape into a spiral shape is prepared, and the optical fiber bundle is supplied while guiding the optical fiber bundle to the guide pipe.
- the belt-shaped presser winding tape is gradually bent while guiding the presser winding tape to the bending portion of the forming tool, and is a spiral tubular portion on the downstream side of the position where both edges of the bending portion intersect.
- the presser tape is spirally wound, the outer diameter of the spiral presser tape is gradually reduced, and the curved portion is disposed on the downstream side of the position where the two edges intersect.
- An optical cable manufacturing method for supplying the optical fiber bundle from the outlet of the guide pipe into the spiral presser tape will become apparent. According to such an optical cable manufacturing method, the optical fiber bundle can be wrapped with the press-wound tape while being guided.

- the forming tool 30 is a tool for wrapping with the press-wound tape 3 while guiding the optical fiber bundle 2.
- the forming tool 30 includes a guide pipe 40 and a tape forming unit 50.
- the guide pipe 40 is a tubular member that guides the optical fiber bundle 2 along the fiber supply direction.
- the guide pipe 40 is made of a metal pipe, but may be made of other materials.
- An inlet 42 (supply port) of the optical fiber bundle 2 is provided on the rear side of the guide pipe 40, and an outlet 43 (see FIG. 8A) serving as an outlet of the optical fiber bundle 2 is provided on the front side of the guide pipe 40.
- the guide pipe 40 since the optical fiber bundle 2 is bundled by the inner wall of the guide pipe 40, the diameter of the optical fiber bundle 2 does not need to be increased. In addition, the diameter of the optical fiber bundle 2 immediately after exiting from the outlet 43 of the guide pipe 40 is approximately the same as the inner diameter of the guide pipe 40. As described above, the guide pipe 40 has a function of suppressing the expansion of the diameter of the optical fiber bundle 2.
- the optical fiber 2B is sandwiched between the overlapping portions 3A of the spiral presser winding tape 3 or protrudes from the presser tape 3. As a result, the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber 2B are deteriorated, and in the worst case, the optical fiber 2B may be disconnected.

- the tape forming unit 50 is a member that forms the press-wound tape 3 from a belt shape into a spiral shape while guiding the press-wound tape 3 along the tape supply direction.
- the tape forming part 50 is provided with a guide part 51, a bending part 53, and a spiral part 55 in order from the upstream side in the tape supply direction.
- a portion upstream of the position X where the left and right edges intersect is referred to as a curved portion 53, and a portion downstream of the position X is swirled. This is referred to as part 55.
- the guide part 51 is a part that guides the belt-like presser winding tape 3 to the curved part 53, and has a guide surface 51 A having the same width as the presser winding tape 3.
- the guide portion 51 is formed to be curved so that the presser winding tape 3 is separated from the optical fiber bundle 2 toward the rear side. Thereby, the supply source of the optical fiber bundle 2 and the supply source of the press-winding tape 3 can be arranged separately.
- the reason why the supply path of the optical fiber 2B is made linear is to suppress a decrease in transmission characteristics of the optical fiber 2B.
- Folding 51B is formed on the left and right edges of the guide portion 51.
- the edge in the left-right direction (left-right direction) of the press-wound tape 3 on the guide portion 51 is constrained by the folding 51B.
- a suppressing portion 51C is formed on the upstream side and the downstream side of the guide portion 51.
- the holding portion 51C is prevented from being lifted from the guide surface 51A by sandwiching the press winding tape 3 between the guide portion 51 and the guide surface 51A of the guide portion 51.
- a back tension is applied to the presser winding tape 3 supplied to the tape forming unit 50, and the presser winding tape 3 is prevented from being lifted by this back tension.
- the guide portion 51 is provided on the upstream side of the tape forming portion 50, but the tape forming portion 50 can be configured by the curved portion 53 and the spiral portion 55 without providing the guide portion 51. .
- the supply of the presser winding tape 3 to the bending portion 53 becomes smoother when the guide portion 51 is provided.

- An inner surface 53 ⁇ / b> A of the curved portion 53 is an extended surface of the guide surface 51 ⁇ / b> A of the guide portion 51.
- the cross section of the bending portion 53 in a plane perpendicular to the front-rear direction is C-shaped, and the belt-shaped presser winding tape 3 is gradually bent into a C shape along the inner surface 53A of the bending portion 53.
- the upper side of the curved portion 53 is open.
- a guide pipe 40 is disposed in this open area.
- the guide pipe 40 is fixed to the tape forming unit 50 at two positions upstream of the position X (see FIG. 4A).
- the fixed portion 41 on the upstream side of the guide pipe 40 is located on the upper surface of the folded portion 51 ⁇ / b> B of the guide portion 51. Thereby, the guide pipe 40 can be fixed so as not to contact the guide surface 51A of the guide portion 51.
- the fixing portion 41 on the downstream side of the guide pipe 40 is a portion where the left and right edges of the bending portion 53 are close to each other on the upper side.
- the guide pipe 40 can be fixed without contacting the inner surface 53A of the bending portion 53.
- the end of the guide pipe 40 on the outlet 43 side protrudes downstream from the downstream fixing portion 41 and is inserted into the spiral portion 55.
- the exit 43 of the guide pipe 40 can be arrange
- Folding 53B is also formed on the left and right edges of the bending portion 53. Due to this folding 53B, the press-wound tape 3 in the bending portion 53 is restricted from moving in a direction other than the supply direction.
- the folding portion 53B of the bending portion 53 is an extension of the folding portion 51B of the guide portion 51.
- the bent portion 53 ⁇ / b> B of the bending portion 53 is not formed on the downstream side of the fixing portion 41 on the downstream side of the guide pipe 40. However, since both edges of the presser winding tape 3 continue to be restrained on the upstream side, it is possible to prevent the presser tape 3 from being displaced by the curved portion 53 and the spiral portion 55 even without the folding 53B. .
- FIG. 6A is a view of the spiral portion 55 as viewed from above.
- FIG. 6B is a view of the spiral portion 55 as viewed from below.

- both ends of the spiral portion 55 are overlapped to form an overlap portion 55A.
- the outer surface of the inner end portion is not in contact with the inner surface of the outer end portion, and a gap is formed.
- a part of the presser winding tape 3 overlap portion 3A of the presser winding tape 3 passes through this gap.
- the spiral portion 55 is a tapered spiral tube, and the outer diameter gradually decreases toward the front side. Thereby, when the presser winding tape 3 is supplied to the downstream side, the outer diameter of the spiral presser winding tape 3 is gradually thinned. Then, the presser winding tape 3 formed in a spiral shape is discharged from the front end of the spiral portion 55 and supplied to the extruder 12.
- the wrap ratio (the ratio of the pressering tape to the circumference: for example, if the pressering tape is one turn, 100%, two turns) If double

- the gap between the presser winding tape 3 and the optical fiber bundle 2 is narrowed, the optical fiber unit 4 (the optical fiber bundle 2 and the presser winding tape 3) can be reduced in diameter, and the optical cable 1 can be reduced in diameter. Can do.
- the spiral portion 55 is not provided with the folds provided at the left and right edges of the guide portion 51 and the curved portion 53. Therefore, the gap between the outer edge and the inner edge of the spiral portion 55 (see FIGS. 7A and 7B: the gap between the overlap portions 55A) can be narrowed, and the presser winding tape 3 formed into a spiral shape is over.
- the gap of the wrap portion 3A can be narrowed.
- the optical fiber 2B constituting the optical fiber bundle 2 is pressed. It becomes difficult to enter the overlap portion 3A of the tape 3, and as a result, it is possible to suppress a decrease in transmission characteristics of the optical fiber 2B.

- the optical fiber 2B is less likely to enter the overlap portion 3A of the presser winding tape 3.
- the heating means for example, heater
- the configuration of the manufacturing apparatus can be reduced, and the cost and space can be reduced. Can be achieved.
- the outlet 43 of the guide pipe 40 is disposed upstream of the front end (downstream end) of the spiral portion 55.
- the inner diameter of the front end of the spiral portion 55 (the maximum diameter of the inscribed circle with the inner surface of the spiral portion 55) can be reduced.
- the inner diameter of the front end of the spiral portion 55 is made smaller than the outer diameter of the guide pipe 40. Yes. Thereby, the clearance gap between the pressing tape 3 and the optical fiber bundle 2 can be narrowed.
- FIG. 8B is an explanatory diagram of a first modification of the arrangement of the outlets 43 of the guide pipe 40.
- the outlet 43 of the guide pipe 40 is arranged at the same position as the front end of the spiral portion 55.
- the outlet 43 of the guide pipe 40 is arranged on the downstream side of the position X where both edges of the curved portion 53 intersect, and the width of the press-winding tape 3 in the spiral portion 55 is changed. It arrange
- the inner diameter of the front end of the spiral portion 55 must be larger than the outer diameter of the outlet 43 of the guide pipe 40. For this reason, it is difficult to narrow the gap between the presser winding tape 3 and the optical fiber bundle 2.
- the spiral portion 55 is a tapered spiral tube, the presser winding tape 3 immediately after being discharged from the spiral portion 55 is slightly squeezed to form a gap between the presser winding tape 3 and the optical fiber bundle 2. It can be narrowed.
- FIG. 8C is an explanatory diagram of a second modification of the arrangement of the outlets 43 of the guide pipe 40.

- the width of the tip 45 is smaller than the outer diameter of the outlet 43 of the guide pipe 40 on the downstream side of the intermediate position of the opening 44 (for example, the position of BB in FIG. 10B). Since it is small, the inner diameter of the spiral portion 55 can be made smaller than the outer diameter of the guide pipe 40 at this portion (the distal end portion 45 downstream of the intermediate position of the opening 44).
- the distal end portion 45 of the guide pipe 40 is disposed inside the spiral portion 55 having an inner diameter smaller than the outer diameter (dotted line in the drawing) of the guide pipe 40.

- the most downstream end of the distal end portion 45 of the guide pipe 40 is disposed on the downstream side of the front end of the spiral portion 55.
- the second modification of the second embodiment places the intermediate position of the opening 44 upstream of the front end of the spiral part 55. By setting it to the side, the inner diameter of the front end of the spiral portion 55 can be made smaller than the outer diameter of the guide pipe 40. By the way, it is desirable that the spiral presser winding tape 3 has 1.5 turns or more (lapping rate of 150% or more).
- the press-winding tape 3 contracts due to heat when extruding the resin to be the outer cover 5 with the extruder 12 (see FIG. 3), and the wrap ratio of the press-winding tape 3 is less than 150%.
- the optical fiber 2B may jump out from the press-wound tape 3 that has shrunk when the jacket 5 is removed at the time of branching after the middle.

Abstract
