Description

금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제의 제조방법 및 그 흡착제
본 발명은 폴리아크릴로니트릴(PAN)섬유에 아민기를 도입하여 킬레이트 섬유를 합성하여 금속 양이온을 배위결합시킨 후, 포스페이트 이온이 금속 양이온과 결합되도록 함으로서, 수용액상에서 인을 제거하는 기술과 흡착제에 관한 것이다.
인구 증가와 산업발달로 인해, 산업폐수, 생활폐수, 가축폐수 등의 배출량이 증가함에 따라, 수질오염이 심각해지고 있다. 그 중에서도 인은 부영양화를 일으켜서, 조류의 증식을 가속화시켜 수질오염을 시키는 주요 원인이다. 따라서, 오폐수를 방류하기 전에 인을 제거하는 수처리의 중요성이 점점 부각되고 있다.
현재 이러한 인을 처리하는 방법으로, 미생물을 이용한 처리방법, 황토, 제올라이트, 실리카 등의 흡착제를 이용한 방법 등이 있으나, 미생물을 이용한 방법은 처리공정의 운전인자의 조절이 어려우며, 시설비와 유지비가 많이 드는 문제점이 있다. 또한 흡착제의 경우, 상기의 문제점은 없으나, 흡착제의 분리 회수 및 흡착성능저하에 어려운 문제점이 있다.
본 발명의 목적은 폴리아크릴로니트릴(PAN) 섬유에 리간드로 아민기(amine group)를 도입 후, 금속 양이온을 배위결합 시킨 흡착제를 제공하는 것이다. 본 발명의 다른 목적은, 상기 흡착제를 이용하여 다양한 pH 범위에서 포스페이트(phosphate) 이온을 안정적으로 제거할 수 있는 수처리용 흡착제를 제공하는 것이다.

상기 금속 양이온은, 세륨 이온, 철 이온, 칼슘 이온, 구리 이온, 코발트 이온, 니켈 이온, 티타늄 이온, 마그네슘 이온, 납 이온, 알루미늄 이온, 아연 이온, 크롬 이온, 망간 이온, 리튬 이온, 나트륨 이온, 및 칼륨 이온으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 금속 양이온은, 상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제 단위 면적(mm2)당 0.001 내지 10 μmol로 결합된 것일 수 잇다.
이하, 본 발명을 보다 상세하게 설명한다.
본 발명자들은, 수계(water system)에서 인을 제거하기 위하여 기존에 사용하던 방법들의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, 흡착제 인 제거 효율이 우수하면서도, 흡착제의 분리 및 회수가 용이하고, 수계 환경의 pH 변화에도 흡착 성능이 유지되는 흡착제를 제공하고자, 섬유상과 같은 고분자 지지체에 리간드로서 아민 그룹을 도입한 후, 양이온을 띄는 금소이온을 배위시켜, 포스페이트 이온 등 음이온의 흡착 성능이 매우 우수한 흡착제를 개발하였다.
본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제의 제조방법은, 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체에 아민 화합물을 결합시켜서 킬레이트 지지체를 제조하는 단계(1); 그리고 상기 킬레이트 지지체에 금속 양이온을 결합시켜 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제를 제조하는 단계(2);를 포함한다.
상기 단계(1)은 폴리아크릴로니트릴(PAN)계 지지체에 아민기를 갖는 화합물을 결합시켜 킬레이트 지지체를 제조하는 단계이다.
본 발명에 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체라고 함은, 폴리아크릴로니크릴로 이루어진 지지체뿐만 아니라, 단량체로 아크릴로니트릴을 포함하여 중합된 고분자를 포함하는 의미이며, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합체를 포함한다. 상기 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 섬유, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 필름, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합체 섬유, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합체 필름, 기공구조를 갖는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 구조체 (스폰지형 구조체), 기공구조를 갖는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합 구조체 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나일 수 있다.
상기 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체는 킬레이트 흡착제의 지지체 역할을 하는 것으로 섬유상, 필름상, 기공구조를 갖는 구조체 (스폰지형 구조체) 등의 형태를 가진 것일 수 있고, 섬유상이나 필름상을 적용하는 경우에 분말 입자 형태와 비교해 물과 접할 수 있는 면적이 넓고 흡착제의 사용 후 회수가 용이하다는 장점을 가진다.
여기에서 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합체라 함은, 단량체로 아크릴로니트릴과 함께 비닐알콜, 비닐아세테이트, 비닐클로라이드, 비닐아세틱에시드 등을 사용하여 중합한 공중합체를 의미하며, 아크릴로니르릴과 함께 공중합체를 구성할 수 있는 단량체라면 적용할 수 있으며, 본 발명의 폴리아크로니트릴 공중합체가 위에서 예시한 것에 한정되지 않는다.
상기 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체는 아크릴로니트릴을 포함하는 방사용액을 전기방사하여 얻어지는 폴리아크릴로니르릴계 나노섬유일 수 있다. 상기 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체가, 전기방사법에 의하여 제조된 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 나노섬유인 경우에는, 비교적 일정한 직경을 가진 나노섬유들이 서로 엉겨서 이루어진 섬유의 형태로 상기 폴리아크릴로니크릴계 지지체를 얻을 수 있고, 넓은 비표면적을 가진 지지체를 얻을 수 있다.
상기 아민 화합물은 상기 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체와 결합하여 리간드의 역할을 하는 것으로, 1차, 2차 또는 3차 아민기를 포함하는 유기화합물이 적용될 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 아민 화합물은 알킬기, 사이클로알킬기, 또는 아릴기와 아민이 결합한 형태의 화합물을 의미하며, 화합물의 적어도 일 말단에 1차 아민기가 1개 이상 포함된 화합물이 이에 해당한다. 예를 들어, 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}, 디에틸렌트리아민(diethylenetriamine), 에틸렌디아민(diethylenediamine) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나를 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
상기 단계(1)에서 폴리아크릴로니트틸계 지지체와 아민 화합물의 결합 반응은, 촉매 하에서 진행될 수 있고, 80 내지 150 ℃의 결합반응온도에서 10 내지 36 시간의 결합반응시간 동안 진행될 수 있다. 상기 결합반응온도와 결합반응시간 내에서 상기 단계(1)의 결합이 진행되는 경우 효율적으로 킬레이트 지지체를 제조할 수 있으며, 상기 결합반응온도가 80 ℃ 미만일 경우에는 반응이 일어나지 않거나, 반응 수율이 낮을 수 있고, 상기 결합반응온도가 150 ℃ 초과인 경우에는 용매로 쓰인 탈이온수가 증발하여 반응이 진행되지 않을 수 있다.
상기 촉매는, 염화금속의 수화물일 수 있고, 구체적으로 염화알루미늄 수화물, 염화주석 수화물, 염화티타늄 수화물, 염화철 수화물, 염화구리 수화물, 염화코발트 수화물, 염화니켈 수화물, 염화아연 수화물, 염화인듐 수화물, 염화붕소 수화물 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나일 수 있다.
상기 단계(1)의 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체와 아민 화합물의 결합은 용매 하에서 이루어질 수 있으며, 상기 용매는 상기 결합 반응을 진행할 수 있는 용매라면 제한 없이 사용할 수 있으며, 예를 들어 탈이온수가 사용될 수 있다.
상기 단계(1)에서 제조된 킬레이트 지지체는 세척 및 건조의 과정을 더 거칠 수 있다. 상기 킬레이트 지지체에는 표면에 아민기들이 존재하기 때문에, 건조 과정에서 이들 사이의 수소결합이 형성되고 이에 의하여 지지체가 전체적으로 뭉쳐지고 딱딱해지는 현상이 나타날 수 있으므로, 건조 과정에 주의해야 한다. 바람직하게, 상기 건조는 동결건조의 과정으로 진행될 수 있다. 감압여과와 동결건조의 과정을 거치면 킬레이트 지지체의 원래 형태를 유지하면서 지지체에 결합된 아민기에 의하여 지지체가 딱딱해지거나 뭉치는 현상이 나타나지 않거나 최대한 이러한 현상을 억제하며 킬레이트 지지체를 건조할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 동결 건조는 영하 40 ℃ 이하의 저온에서 상기 킬레이트 지지체를 유지하며 건조하는 과정으로 이루어질 수 있다.
상기 단계(2)는 상기 킬레이트 지지체에 금속 양이온을 결합시켜 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제를 제조하는 단계이다. 구체적으로, 상기 단계(2)는 금속염화물과 같은 금속염을 이용하여 용액 내에서 금속 양이온을 형성하고, 상기 킬레이트 지지체와 상기 금속 양이온이 용액 내에서 배위결합을 하도록 유도하는 과정이 포함된다.
상기 단계(2)에서 사용되는 상기 금속염은 용매 하에서 금속 양이온을 형성할 수 있는 것이라면 적용할 수 있고, 예를 들어 수용액 상에서 금속염화물을 이용하여 금속 양이온을 제공할 수 있다.
상기 금속 양이온은 세륨 이온(Ce3+), 철 이온(Fe2+), 칼슘 이온(Ca2+), 구리 이온(Cu2+), 코발트 이온(Co2+), 니켈 이온(Ni2+), 티타늄 이온(Ti4+), 마그네슘 이온(Mg2+), 납 이온(Pb2+), 알루미늄 이온(Al3+), 아연 이온(Zn2+), 크롬 이온(Cr6+), 망간 이온(Mn2+), 리튬 이온(Li+), 나트륨 이온(Na+), 및 칼륨 이온(K+)으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나를 포함하는 것일 수 있다. 상기 금속 양이온은 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제 단위 면적(mm2)당 0.001 내지 10 μmol의 밀도로 결합되는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제는 용매와 반응잔여물을 제거하고 건조하는 세척 및 건조의 과정을 더 거칠 수 있다. 상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 지지체에는 표면에 아민기들에 의하여 건조 과정에서 전체적으로 뭉쳐지고 딱딱해지는 현상이 나타날 수 있으므로, 건조 과정에 주의해야 하며, 동결건조의 과정으로 건조되는 것이 바람직하다. 구체적인 동결건조에 대한 내용은 위에서 설명한 것과 중복되므로 그 기재를 생략한다.
본 발명의 다른 일 실시예에 따른 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제는, 섬유, 필름, 또는 기공구조를 갖는 스폰지형 구조체 형태의 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체의 표면에 아민 화합물에 의하여 배위 결합된 금속 양이온을 포함한다.
상기 폴리아크릴로니르릴계 지지체에 대한 설명, 아민 화합물에 대한 설명, 그리고 배위 결합된 금속 양이온에 대한 설명은 위에서 설명한 것과 중복되므로 그 기재를 생략한다.
상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제는 나노섬유의 형태로, 나노섬유의 직경이 10 내지 1,000 nm이고, 비표면적이 5 내지 300 m2/g인 것일 수 있다. 상기 직경의 범위와 비표면적의 범위를 갖는 경우에는 상당히 넓은 비표면적으로 수계 환경에서 인과 접촉할 수 있는 면적이 늘어나며, 인 제거의 효율성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
상기 금속양이온은 상기 킬레이트 합착제의 단위 면적(mm2)당 0.001 내지 10 μmol로 상기 흡착제에 함유될 수 있고, 이때 인의 제거 효율이 향상될 수 있다.
상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제는, 다공성 섬유나 다공성 필름의 표면을 킬레이트화 하고, 금속 양이온을 배위결합 시켜, 인과 같은 수계 환경에서 음이온의 특성을 가진 오염원들을 효율적으로 제거할 수 있다.
상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제는 수계 시스템에 노출되면, 인과 같은 음이온성 물질들을 표면에 흡착하고, 인 등을 흡착한 흡착제를 제거하는 간단한 방식으로 수계 환경에서 효율적으로 인 등을 제거할 수 있다. 상기 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제는 산성 내지 중성의 범위 내에서 변화하는 수계 시스템에서도 우수한 인 흡착 성능을 유지하며, pH 8 미만의 수계 환경에서 그 효과가 특히 우수하다. 이는 음이온 교환 방식을 적용한 흡착제의 특성과 대비되는 것으로, 본 발명의 금속 양이온이 결합된 킬레이트 섬유를 이용하면 부영양화의 원인이 되는 포스페이트 이온(phosphate ion) 등 음이온들의 흡착 제거가 용이하며, 강산성 환경에서도 우수한 흡착 효율을 유지한다.
본 발명의 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제의 제조방법, 및 그 흡착제는 금속 양이온이 배위된 킬레이트섬유를 포함하여, 수용액 상에서 음이온 또는 포스페이트(phospahte) 이온을 흡착 성능이 매우 우수하며, 섬유상이기 때문에 사용된 흡착제의 수거가 용이한 흡착제를 제공한다. 이를 이용하는 수처리 방법을 이용하면, 하천 또는 강 등의 수용액상에서 부영양화를 막아 조류번식을 억제할 수 있다.
도 1은 PAN 나노섬유에 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민(TAEA)을 결합하기 전의 PAN 나노섬유와 결합한 후의 나노섬유(킬레이트 섬유)의 FT-IR 스펙트럼을 측정한 결과이다.
도 2는 전기 방사하여 제조된 PAN 나노섬유(좌측)와 실시예 1. 1)의 나노 킬레이트 섬유(우측)의 전자현미경 사진이다.
도 3은 본 발명의 제조예 1에서 합성한 실시예 1의 섬유를 이용하여 pH를2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10으로 조절하였을 때 섬유에 의하여 흡착된 인의 량을 평가한 pH에 따른 인 흡착량 곡선이다.
이하, 본 발명이 속하는 기술 분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자가 용이하게 실시할 수 있도록 본 발명의 실시예에 대하여 첨부한 도면을 참고로 하여 상세히 설명한다. 그러나 본 발명은 여러 가지 상이한 형태로 구현될 수 있으며 여기에서 설명하는 실시예에 한정되지 않는다.
제조예 1: 세륨이온과 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유의 제조
1) 아민 화합물과 결합된 나노 킬레이트 섬유의 제조
전기 방사하여 제조된 PAN 나노섬유 0.5 g을 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine, TAEA} 15 ml와 함께 300 ml 부피 크기의 둥근 바닥 플라스크에 넣은 뒤, 탈이온수 (deionized water) 150 ml를 용매로 하여, 상온에서 30분간 고르게 분산 시켰다. 촉매로 사용하는 AlCl3·6H2O 5g을 첨가한 후, 다시 상온에서 1시간 가량 교반시켰다.
촉매가 모두 녹은 후에 환류 냉각기를 장착하고 80 내지 150 ℃의 반응 온도 하에서 10 내지 36시간 동안 반응시켰다. 반응이 끝난 후 상온으로 냉각시킨 후, 이차 증류수로 여러 번 씻어주었다.
촉매로 인한 수산화 알루미늄을 제거하기 위해 0.1 N 염산 수용액을 사용하여 씻어준 후, 다시 0.1 N 농도의 수산화 나트륨 수용액과 탈이온수로 반복 씻어주었다. 감압 여과를 통해 개질된 PAN 나노섬유를 분리하고, 동결건조를 통해 최종적으로 킬레이트 섬유를 제조하였다.
도 1은 PAN 나노섬유에 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민(TAEA)을 결합하기 전의 PAN 나노섬유와 결합한 후의 나노섬유(킬레이트 섬유)의 FT-IR 스펙트럼을 측정한 결과이다. 상기 도 1을 참조하면, 결합 전의 FT-IR 스펙트럼과 비교하여 결합 후의 킬레이트 섬유의 FT-IR 스펙트럼에서 니트릴기가 사라지고, 아민그룹이 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있으며, 이로부터 나노 킬레이트 섬유가 잘 합성되었음을 확인 할 수 있었다.
도 2는 전기 방사하여 제조된 PAN 나노섬유(좌측)와 실시예 1의 1)에서 제조한 나노 킬레이트 섬유(우측)의 전자현미경 사진이다. 상기 도 2를 참조하면, 아민화합물을 이용한 킬레이트화를 거쳐서 제조된 실시예 1. 1)의 나노 킬레이트 섬유도 나노섬유 형태를 잘 유지하고 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.
2) 금속 양이온과 배위결합한 킬레이트 섬유의 제조
제조된 킬레이트 섬유에 세륨 양이온을 배위시키기 위해 섬유 0.1 g을 0.1 M의 염화세륨 수용액 1 L에 30분간 침지 시킨 후, 탈이온수로 씻어준 후 동결건조 시켜서, 세륨이온과 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유인 실시예 1의 섬유를 합성하였다.
제조예 2: 세륨이온과 디에틸렌트리아민(diethylenetriamine)이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유의 제조
상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 수행하되, 1) 에서 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine} 15 ml를 대신하여 디에틸렌트리아민(diethylenetriamine) 15 ml를 사용하여, 세륨이온과 디에틸렌트리아민(diethylenetriamine)이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유인 실시예 2의 섬유를 합성하였다.
제조예 3: 세륨이온과 에틸렌디아민(diethylenediamine)이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유의 제조
상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 수행하되, 1) 에서 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine} 15 ml를 대신하여 에틸렌디아민(diethylenediamine) 15 ml를 사용하여, 세륨이온과 에틸렌디아민(diethylenediamine)이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유인 실시예 3의 섬유를 합성하였다.
제조예 4: 철 이온과 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유의 제조
상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 수행하되, 2)에서 을 0.1 M의 염화세륨 수용액 1 L를 적용하는 대신 0.1 M의 염화철 1 L를 사용하여, 철 이온과 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유인 실시예 4의 섬유를 합성하였다.
제조예 5: 구리 이온과 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유의 제조
상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 수행하되, 2)에서 을 0.1 M의 염화세륨 수용액 1 L를 적용하는 대신 0.1 M의 염화구리 1 L를 사용하여, 구리 이온과 트리스(2-아미노에틸)아민{tris(2-aminoethyl)amine}이 결합된 PAN 나노섬유인 실시예 5의 섬유를 합성하였다.
실험예: pH 변화에 따른 인 흡착량 평가
위의 제조예 1에서 합성한 실시예 1의 섬유를 이용하여 pH에 따른 흡착량 평가를 진행하였다. 인을 10 mmol로 함유하고 있는 인 수용액 샘플을 여러 개 제조하고, 상기 인 수용액의 pH를 각각 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10으로 조절한 후에 상기 실시예 2에서 제조한 섬유 0.1 g을 각각 pH가 조절된 인 수용액 샘플 100 mL들에 넣고 24시간 동안 방치하여 수용액 중의 인이 상기 섬유에 흡착되도록 하였다.
상기 인이 흡착된 섬유를 회수하고, 섬유가 제거된 용액을 역적정하여 각각의 pH 환경에서 섬유의 흡착된 인의 흡착량을 계산하였고, 그 결과를 도 3에 나타내었다.
상기 도 3의 결과를 참조하면, 상기 실시예 1의 섬유는 강한 산성 환경인 pH 2에서도 우수한 흡착 효율을 보이며, 중성 환경인 pH 7에서도 상당히 우수한 인 흡착성능을 가진다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 약염기성 환경인 pH 8 내지 10에서는 산성이나 중성의 환경보다는 떨어지지만 인의 흡착이 가능하다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.
상기 결과로부터, 본 발명의 흡착제를 사용하면 일반적인 수계 내에서 안정적으로 인 등을 효율적으로 흡착하여 제거할 수 있다는 점을 확인했으며, 흡착 전 후에 모두 섬유의 형태를 유지하기 때문에 회수가 용이하다는 장점도 가진다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.
이상에서 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 대하여 상세하게 설명하였지만 본 발명의 권리범위는 이에 한정되는 것은 아니고 다음의 청구범위에서 정의하고 있는 본 발명의 기본 개념을 이용한 당업자의 여러 변형 및 개량 형태 또한 본 발명의 권리범위에 속하는 것이다.

    상기 폴리아크릴로니트릴계 지지체는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 섬유, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 필름, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합체 섬유, 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합체 필름, 기공구조를 갖는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 구조체, 기공구조를 갖는 폴리아크릴로니트릴 공중합 구조체 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 어느 하나를 포함하는 것인, 금속이 배위 결합된 킬레이트 흡착제의 제조방법.
