Abstract
Description
現在、プライマーは有機溶剤を含有するものが一般的である。しかしながら、環境汚染をできるだけ少なくし、作業者への安全衛生をより一層向上させるために水系プライマーの開発が求められている(例えば、特許文献1等参照)。
また、溶剤系のプライマーよりも水系のプライマーの方が乾燥性に劣るため、シーリング材を打設するまでに長時間の乾燥を有するという問題点があり、特に、水と反応して発泡するウレタン系シーリング材を打設する場合には、乾燥性の問題は顕著である。
すなわち、本発明者は、以下の構成により上記課題が解決できることを見出した。
(2)上記ビニルエーテル系のオリゴマーまたはポリマーが、下記式(1)~(4)のいずれかで表されるビニルエーテル系モノマーをラジカル重合させて得られる上記(1)に記載のアクリル系エマルジョン。
(4)上記イオン性官能基が、ヒドロキシ基、カルボキシ基、および、アルコキシシリル基からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種である、上記(3)に記載のアクリル系エマルジョン。
(6)上記(1)~(4)のいずれかに記載のアクリル系エマルジョンを含有するシーリング材用水系プライマー組成物。
ここで、「表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を有する」とは、ビニルエーテル系ポリマー等がアクリル粒子の表面にグラフト結合等による共有結合や水素結合等による非共有結合により化学結合している状態をいう。
また、「平均粒子径」は、表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を有するアクリル粒子の粒子径の平均値であり、粒度径分布測定機(Nanotrac UPA-EX150、日機装社製)を用いて測定した値である。
なお、本発明のアクリル系エマルジョンにおいて、分散質であるアクリル粒子の相は、液相であっても固相であってもよい。すなわち、一般的には、液相である分散媒に液相である分散質が分散した系を「エマルジョン」といい、液相である分散媒に固相である分散質が分散した系を「サスペンション」というが、本発明においては、「エマルジョン」は「サスペンション」を含む概念とする。
これは、詳細には明らかではないが、アクリル粒子表面に存在するビニルエーテル系ポリマー等が、温度応答性を有し、乾燥温度付近で疎水性を発現することにより、エマルジョン中の水の乾燥が促進されたためと考えられる。
このことは、後述する比較例に示すように、アクリル粒子表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を有していない場合(配合例8)や別途調製したビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を別添加した場合(配合例17)には、同じ乾燥温度であっても乾燥時間が長くなるという事実からも推測される。
一方、上記アクリル粒子の平均粒子径の下限値は、耐水性の観点から、0μm超が好ましく、0.01μm以上がより好ましく、0.1μm以上が更に好ましい。
以下に、未変性アクリル粒子およびその調製方法ならびにビニルエーテル系モノマーおよびそのラジカル重合等について、詳述する。なお、以下の説明において、未変性アクリル粒子と区別するために、表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を有するアクリル粒子を「変性アクリル粒子」ともいう。
上記未変性アクリル粒子は、特に限定されないが、変性アクリル粒子の平均粒子径を0.6μm以下とする観点から、その重量平均分子量は10万以下であるのが好ましく、その平均粒子径は0.6μm以下であるのが好ましい。
なお、以下では、(メタ)アクリレートとは、アクリレートおよび/またはメタクリレートを意味し、(メタ)アクリルとは、アクリルおよび/またはメタアクリルを意味するものとする。
ここで、上記イオン性官能基としては、特に限定されないが、例えば、ヒドロキシ基、カルボキシ基、および、アルコキシシリル基からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種であるのが好ましい。
これらのうち、2-ヒドロキシエチル(メタ)アクリレートが好ましく用いられる。
これらのうち、アクリル酸、メタクリル酸が好ましく用いられる。
これらのうち、γ-メタクリロキシプロピルトリエトキシシランが好ましく用いられる。
重合開始剤の配合量は、モノマーの合計に対して、0.005~1モル%が好ましく、0.01~0.8モル%がより好ましい。
連鎖移動剤としては、特に限定されず、公知の連鎖移動剤を使用することができ、具体的には、例えば、ラウリルメルカプタン、グリシジルメルカプタン、メルカプト酢酸、2-メルカプトエタノール、チオグリコール酸、チオグルコール酸2-エチルヘキシル、2,3-ジメルカプト-1-プロパノール等が挙げられ、これらを1種単独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
連鎖移動剤の配合量は、分子量を調整するために適宜選択されるが、例えば、モノマーの合計に対して、0.01~10モル%が好ましく、0.1~8モル%がより好ましい。
中和剤としては、酸性基を中和できるものであれば特に限定されず、例えば、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、トリメチルアミン、ジメチルアミノエタノール、2-メチル-2-アミノ-1-プロパノール、トリエチルアミン、アンモニア水などが挙げられる。これらの中和剤は、例えば、中和後のpHが7~10程度となる量で用いるのが好ましい。
また、未変性アクリル粒子の重量平均分子量(Mw)の下限値は、耐水性の観点から、5000以上が好ましく、9000以上がより好ましい。
なお、未変性アクリル粒子の重量平均分子量(Mw)は、テトラヒドロフランを溶媒とするゲル・パーミエーション・クロマトグラフィー(GPC)によりポリスチレン換算で表わされる重量平均分子量である。
上記ビニルエーテル系モノマーは、CH2=CH-O-骨格(ビニルエーテル基)を有する化合物であれば特に限定されない。
上記ビニルエーテル系モノマーとしては、例えば、酢酸ビニル、プロピオン酸ビニル、ビニルトルエン、ビニルアルコール、イソブチルエーテル等が挙げられ、これらを1種点独で用いてもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
具体的には、プライマーとしての乾燥性がより良好となる理由から、下記式(1)~(4)のいずれかで表される化合物を用いるのが好ましい。
上記ビニルエーテル系モノマーのラジカル重合は、未変性アクリル粒子の表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を生長もしくはグラフト結合させる観点から、上述した未変性アクリル系エマルジョン中において進行させるのが好ましい。
ここで、上記ラジカル重合の重合条件は特に限定されず、従来公知のラジカル重合の重合条件を適宜採用することができ、例えば、上述した(メタ)アクリル酸エステル系モノマー等を重合(乳化重合)する方法において説明したラジカル重合の重合条件、重合開始剤、連鎖移動剤を適宜採用することができる。
これらのうち、重合開始効率の観点から、第3級炭素原子にハロゲン原子が結合した有機ハロゲン化合物が好ましく、2-ブロモイソ酪酸エステルがより好ましく、2-ブロモイソ酪酸エチル(EBIB)がより好ましい。
このような特定比率の混合溶媒を用いることにより、ビニルエーテル系モノマーのラジカル重合が容易に進行することとなる。
このような質量比で用いることにより、ビニルエーテル系モノマーのラジカル重合が容易に進行することとなる。
ここで、上記銅錯体は、上記重合開始剤からラジカルを発生させる1価の銅化合物と、上記銅化合物に配位して上記銅化合物を上記溶媒中に溶解させる配位子とからなる。
例えば、上記重合開始剤を上記溶媒に添加して重合を開始する前に、あらかじめ上記銅化合物と上記配位子とを上記溶媒中に添加して撹拌し、上記銅化合物が溶解したことをもって上記銅錯体が生成したものとすることができる。
なお、上記銅化合物の量は、特に限定されないが、上記ビニルエーテル系モノマー100質量部に対して、0.001~0.07質量部程度であり、0.002~0.05質量部が好ましい。
これらのうち、分子量分布がより狭いポリマーが得られるという理由から、下記式(5)で表されるトリエチルアミン、下記式(6)で表されるテトラメチルエチレンジアミンが好ましい。
なお、上記配位子の量の上限値は特に限定されないが、上記銅化合物における銅(I)1モルに対して10モル以下が好ましい。
上記アスコルビン酸は、上記銅錯体と併用される還元剤であり、上記溶媒中で高酸化状態の上記銅錯体を還元して、低酸化状態にする。
本発明の製造方法においては、上記アスコルビン酸を、上記銅化合物における銅(I)と上記アスコルビン酸とのモル比が1:0.5~1:2となる量で用いるのが好ましい。
上記アスコルビン酸を、上記モル比で用いることにより、従来、ビニルエーテル系モノマーの重合法として極めて困難とされていたラジカル重合によって、分子量分布の狭いビニルエーテル系ポリマーを得ることが可能となる。
本発明においては、還元効果および経済性の観点から、上記モル比は、1:0.5~1:1.5がより好ましい。
なお、ビニルエーテル系ポリマー等の重量平均分子量(Mw)は、アクリル微粒子の存在していない条件下で、同様の重合条件で作製されたビニルエーテル系ポリマー等の重量平均分子量をゲルパーミエーションクロマトグラフィー(GPC)で測定し、標準ポリスチレン換算した値である。
同様に、本発明のアクリル系エマルジョンにおける粘度は、200~800mPa・sが好ましく、300~800mPa・sがより好ましい。
なお、粘度は、JIS K 7117-2:1991に記載の方法に従い、BL形粘度計(No.4ロータ、6rpm)を用いて20℃で測定した、20℃における粘度である(単位:mPa・s)。
ここで、本発明のシーリング材用水系プライマー組成物は、上述した本発明のアクリル系エマルジョン以外に、本発明の目的および効果を損なわない範囲で、必要に応じてさらに添加剤を含有することができる。
添加剤としては、例えば、充填剤、顔料、ブロッキング防止剤、分散安定剤、揺変剤、粘度調節剤、レベリング剤、ゲル化防止剤、光安定剤、老化防止剤、酸化防止剤、紫外線吸収剤、可塑剤、滑剤、帯電防止剤、補強材、難燃剤、触媒、消泡剤、増粘剤、分散剤、界面活性剤、有機溶剤等が挙げられる。
本発明のプライマーの使用方法としては、例えば、上述した被着体に本発明のプライマーを塗布し、任意で乾燥し、その上にシーリング材組成物を塗布した後、本発明のプライマーおよびシーリング材組成物を乾燥させて硬化させる方法が挙げられる。
なかでも、本発明のプライマーの乾燥性が良好であるため、ポリウレタン系シーリング材、特に、建築用ポリウレタン系シーリング材が好適に用いることができる。
(未変性アクリル系エマルジョンの調製)
まず、反応容器に、下記第1表(上欄)に示すアクリル系モノマーおよびジアリルフタレート(DAP)を同表に示すモル比で投入し、80℃まで加温した後、重合開始剤(2,2’-アゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN))および連鎖移動剤(ラウリルメルカプタン(SH))を同表に示すモル比で添加して、5時間撹拌することで重合を行ない、アクリル系ポリマーを得た。得られたアクリル系ポリマーの重量平均分子量(Mw)を同表に示す。
その後、得られたアクリル系ポリマーを50℃以下に冷却し、これに、固形分が42質量%となるように同表に示す質量の水およびイソプロピルアルコール(IPA)の混合溶媒を添加し、更に同表に示すモル比の中和剤(トリエチルアミン(TEA))とを添加して、500rpm以上の高速撹拌を行うことで、上記アクリル系ポリマーが分散し、微粒子化された未変性アクリル粒子を分散質とする未変性アクリル系エマルジョンを調製した。
未変性アクリル系エマルジョンを調製した後、単離などの作業を施さず、下記第1表(下欄)に示すビニルエーテル系モノマーを同表に示すモル比で投入し、85℃まで加温した後、重合開始剤(2,2’-アゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN))を同表に示すモル比で添加して、10時間撹拌することでラジカル重合を行ない、未変性アクリル粒子の表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等が結合した変性アクリル粒子を分散質とするアクリル系エマルジョンを調製した。
なお、下記第1表中、ビニルエーテルポリマー等の重量平均分子量(Mw)は、未変性アクリル粒子の存在していない条件下で、同様の重合条件で作製されたビニルエーテル系ポリマー等の重量平均分子量をGPCで測定した値である。
まず、配合例1で用いたDEGV(上記式(2)で表されるビニルエーテル系モノマー、分子量:132)を所定量の水中に添加し、重合開始剤を添加して、ポリビニルエーテルの水分散液を調製した。ここに、配合例1と同様の方法で調製し、単離した未変性アクリル系エマルジョンを下記第1表(下欄)に示すモル比で投入し、混合することにより、アクリル系エマルジョンを調製した。
ビニルエーテル系モノマーのラジカル重合を以下に示す方法で行った以外は、配合例9と同様の方法により、アクリル系エマルジョンを調製した。
(ビニルエーテル系モノマーのラジカル重合)
未変性アクリル系エマルジョンを調製した後、単離などの作業を施さず、下記第1表(下欄)に示すビニルエーテル系モノマー(EHVE)を同表に示すモル比で投入し、窒素による脱気を行った。次いで、同表に示す銅化合物と配位子とを混合して、銅化合物が溶解するまで撹拌した。撹拌後、重合開始剤(EBIB)およびアスコルビン酸を同表に示すモル比で添加して、85℃で10時間撹拌することでラジカル重合を行ない、未変性アクリル粒子の表面にビニルエーテル系ポリマー等が結合した変性アクリル粒子を分散質とするアクリル系エマルジョンを調製した。
また、以下に示す方法により、乾燥性および接着性を評価した。これらの結果を下記第1表に示す。
調製した各アクリルエマルジョンをプライマーとして、被着体であるモルタル(50mm×50mm、パルテック社製)上に、刷毛を用いて、50g/m2の膜厚となるように塗布し、30℃の雰囲気下でプライマーが乾燥するまでに要した時間(分)を調べた。
調製した各アクリルエマルジョンをプライマーとして、被着体であるモルタル(50mm×50mm、パルテック社製)上に、刷毛を用いて、50g/m2の膜厚となるように塗布し、35℃で10分間乾燥させて、試験体を作製した。
作製した試験体の塗膜面に、シーラントであるポリウレタン系シーリング材(ハマタイトUH01NB、横浜ゴム社製)を、チューブ状となるように塗布し、25℃で1週間養生し、硬化させた。その後、ナイフカットし、シーラントを引っ張る手剥離試験を行った。
その結果、シーラントの凝集破壊(CF)のみが確認できたものを接着性に極めて優れるものとして「◎」と評価し、シーラントの凝集破壊(CF)およびシーラントとプライマーとの界面剥離(TCF)が確認でき、CFの割合が80%以上であったものを接着性に優れるものとして「○」と評価し、シーラントとプライマーとの界面剥離(TCF)のみが確認できたものを接着性に劣るものとして「△」と評価し、プライマーとモルタルとの間で剥離したものを接着性に極めて劣るものとして「×」と評価した。

これに対し、ビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を有していない配合例8で調製したアクリル系エマルジョンは、平均粒子径は0.6μm以下であるが、乾燥性に劣り、短時間での乾燥では接着性を担保できないことが分かった。
また、ビニルエーテル系ポリマー等を別添加した配合例17で調製したアクリル系エマルジョンは、未変性のアクリル粒子は配合例1で調製したものと同様であるにも関わらず、乾燥性に劣り、短時間での乾燥では接着性を担保できないことが分かった。
Claims (6)
- 表面にビニルエーテル系のオリゴマーまたはポリマーを有する平均粒子径が0.6μm以下のアクリル粒子を含有する、アクリル系エマルジョン。
- 前記アクリル粒子が、イオン性官能基を有する重合性モノマーを0.5~10モル%含むモノマーを共重合させて得られる請求項1または2に記載のアクリル系エマルジョン。
- 前記イオン性官能基が、ヒドロキシ基、カルボキシ基、および、アルコキシシリル基からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種である、請求項3に記載のアクリル系エマルジョン。
- 請求項1~4のいずれかに記載のアクリル系エマルジョンからなるシーリング材用水系プライマー。
- 請求項1~4のいずれかに記載のアクリル系エマルジョンを含有するシーリング材用水系プライマー組成物。
