上記課題を解決する液体噴射装置は、上記構成の液体供給装置の前記チューブを介して供給される液体をターゲットに噴射可能な液体噴射ヘッドを備えた。
図1及び図2に示すように、画像形成システム11は、インク(液体)を噴射する液体噴射装置の一例としてのインクジェット式プリンター12及び原稿G(媒体)を読み取る読取装置13を有する画像形成装置14と、インクジェット式プリンター12にインクを供給する液体供給装置の一例としてのインク供給装置15とを備えている。読取装置13は、インクジェット式プリンター12上に配置されている。
図2及び図3に示すように、ケース18の蓋体21は、容器本体20側に開口部40を有した前後方向に長く且つ容器本体20よりも浅い有蓋矩形箱状をなしている。蓋体21は、ヒンジ部41を介して容器本体20の後面における上端部に連結されている。したがって、蓋体21は、開閉動作される場合、ヒンジ部41を支点として回動する。すなわち、蓋体21は、容器本体20の前側から開かれ、容器本体20の前側で閉じられる。なお、蓋体21は、容器本体20の開口部19を閉塞した状態では開口部40が開口部19に合わせられる。
図14及び図15に示すように、各インク収容体17は、インクを収容する液体収容部の一例としてのインク袋90と、インク袋90の上端部にインク袋90の内部に連通するように形成された液体導出部の一例としてのインク導出部91とを備えている。インク導出部91は、インク袋90よりも重力方向において上に位置している。さらに、インク袋90におけるインク導出部91が形成された上端側(一端側)には、容器本体20(図5参照)に支持される液体収容体支持部を構成する支持部材(ハンガー部材)92が取着されている。すなわち、インク袋90は、支持部材92と係合している。
さて、図16及び図17に示すように、インク導出部91が固着されたインク袋90に支持部材92を取り付ける場合には、まず、第2支持部材106の支持凹部126にインク導出部91を挿入する。続いて、第1支持部材105の両凸部123をインク袋90の両インク袋貫通孔94にそれぞれ挿通する。続いて、第2支持部材106の両位置決め突起127を第1支持部材105の両位置決め孔120にそれぞれ挿入する。これにより、第1支持部材105と第2支持部材106との位置決めがなされる。
さて、図3及び図22に示すように、各インク収容体17をケース18にセットする場合には、まず、蓋体21を開けてからインク収容体17を容器本体20の開口部19を介して容器本体20内に収容する。このとき、各インク収容体17の第1支持部材105の両端部を、左右方向に対して30度の角度で斜めに交差する方向において対向する右凹部56及び左凹部59に支持させる。
さて、図2に示すように、読取装置13によって読み取り面13aよりも大きい原稿Gを読み取る場合には、まず、オートドキュメントフィーダー16を開いて読み取り面13aを露出させる。続いて、読み取り面13a上に原稿Gにおける読み取りたい領域が収まるように且つ当該原稿Gにおける読み取り面13a上からはみ出した部分の一部がケース18上(蓋体21上)に位置するように、原稿Gを載置する。
(1)インク供給装置15において、インク収容体17は、インク導出部91がインク袋90よりも重力方向において上に位置するように、ケース18の右凹部56及び左凹部59に対して着脱可能に支持される。このため、目視で確認しながらインク導出部91とインク導入針80とを容易に確実に接続することができる。また、通常、インクは自重でインク袋90の下部に溜まるため、インク導出部91がインク袋90の下部にある場合、インク導出部91とインク導入針80との接続不良が起きたときにインクの漏れ量が増えるおそれがある。この点、この構成によれば、インク導出部91がインク袋90よりも重力方向において上に位置するため、インク導出部91とインク導入針80との接続不良があったとしても、インクの漏れ量を抑制することができる。
なお、上記実施形態は以下のような別の実施形態に変更してもよい。
図24及び図25に示すように、台座142は、その下面の中央部に矩形状に窪んだ窪み部143を有する有底矩形箱状をなしている。台座142の内底面の中央部には、窪み部143の窪んだ分だけ隆起した隆起部144が形成されている。隆起部144の上面は、平坦になっている。台座142の内底面における隆起部144の周りには、複数(ここでは10個)の板状の支持リブ145が隆起部144を囲むように適宜間隔を置いて設けられている。そして、台座142をケース18の下部に装着する場合には、ケース18を構成する底壁形成部材50の下面の中央部に隆起部144を両面粘着テープ(図示略)で粘着するとともに、底壁形成部材50の下面の周縁部に台座142の上端の周縁部を係合させる。
・図27に示すように、画像形成システム11において、インクジェット式プリンター12がブラックインクのみを使用する単色のプリンターである場合には、インク供給装置15のケース18を、ブラックインクを収容した1つのインク収容体17を収容するサイズのものに変更するようにしてもよい。この場合、インク収容体17は、その幅方向が前後方向となるようにケース18内に収容される。なお、図27ではケース18の開口部19を開閉自在に覆う蓋体21は省略している。
・インク収容体17の支持部材92は、必ずしもインク導出部91を挟んだ両側でインク袋90を支持している必要はない。
・インク収容体17は、必ずしもインク導出部91が形成された上端側がケース18の右凹部56及び左凹部59に支持されて吊り下げられる必要はない。すなわち、インク収容体17は、ケース18の内底面上に置いた状態で収容するようにしてもよい。この場合、ケース18の内底面(底壁49)がインク収容体17を支持する支持部として機能する。
・ケース18における右側壁45と左側壁46との間の距離は、必ずしもインク収容体17の幅よりも短くする必要はない。
・ケース18の開口部19は、必ずしも容器本体20の上端に設ける必要はなく、容器本体20の側面に設けるようにしてもよい。
・インク袋90は、必ずしも全てを可撓性フィルム90aによって構成する必要はない。すなわち、インク袋90は、一部を可撓性材料からなる可撓性部によって構成するようにしてもよい。また、インク袋90の可撓性部を構成する材料は、透明であってもよいし不透明であってもよい。
・インク収容体17のインク導出部91の連通孔100は、省略してもよい。
・インク収容体17のインク導出チューブ99は、インク導出部91とは反対側となる下端側の一部のみをインク袋90に収容されるインクよりも比重が大きい材料によって構成するようにしてもよい。
・ケース18の第3及び第4チューブ支持部74,75に形成された各突起76は、省略してもよい。
・ケース18の縁部材53には、切欠部57の代わりに、接続チューブ37を挿通可能な孔を挿通部として設けるようにしてもよい。
・ケース18における第1~第4チューブ支持部65,73~75の長さは、必ずしもこれらがそれぞれガイドする接続チューブ37が接続されるインク収容体17から容器側挿通孔61までの距離に応じて互いに異なっている必要はない。
・ガイド部は、接続チューブ37を容器本体20の内側面に沿わせてインク収容体17にアクセスできるのであればどのような構成でもよい。例えば、ガイド部を、容器本体20の内側面に設けた凹溝によって構成してもよい。
・各突起76は、リブ66~69の全体に形成されていてもよいし、リブ66~69の一部に形成されていてもよい。
・各キャップ87の色と、各キャップ87と対応する各インク収容体17に収容されるインクの色とを合わせるようにしてもよい。このようにすれば、キャップ87が誤ったインク収容体17に接続されることを抑制することができる。
・原稿Gの代わりに、プラスチックフィルムや布、あるいは金属箔などを媒体として用いてもよい。
なお、液体噴射装置から微小量の液滴となって吐出される液体の状態としては、粒状、涙状、糸状に尾を引くものも含むものとする。また、ここでいう液体は、液体噴射装置から噴射させることができるような材料であればよい。
また、バイオチップ製造に用いられる生体有機物を噴射する液体噴射装置、精密ピペットとして用いられ試料となる液体を噴射する液体噴射装置、捺染装置やマイクロディスペンサー等であってもよい。さらに、時計やカメラ等の精密機械にピンポイントで潤滑油を噴射する液体噴射装置、光通信素子等に用いられる微小半球レンズ(光学レンズ)などを形成するために紫外線硬化樹脂等の透明樹脂液を基板上に噴射する液体噴射装置であってもよい。また、基板などをエッチングするために酸又はアルカリ等のエッチング液を噴射する液体噴射装置であってもよい。
