Definitions
- the present invention relates to a side part structure of a vehicle body including a center pillar that divides a boarding opening that is opened and closed by a front door and a boarding opening that is opened and closed by a rear door.
- the inner plate of the vehicle body including the center pillar is painted with the front door and the rear door opened, and then the vehicle body including the outer panel of the doors with the front door and the rear door closed.
- the outer plate is painted.
- Patent Document 1 before painting the vehicle body outer plate portion, the door is opened and the floating paint mist remaining inside the vehicle body is discharged to the outside. The painting is described.
- Patent Document 2 discloses that color unevenness due to film thickness variation, generation of a frame phenomenon at an edge portion, and hue change due to polishing repair are suppressed to obtain a sense of color and depth.
- the lightness L * value of the metallic base coating film and the visible light transmittance of the colored base coating film are set in a specific range.
- FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view of the center pillar portion of the vehicle body.
- the center pillar 74 that extends in the vertical direction includes a pillar outer panel 71, a pillar reinforcement 72, and a pillar inner panel 73.
- the center pillar 74 divides the boarding opening that is opened and closed by the front door 75 of the vehicle body and the boarding opening that is opened and closed by the rear door 77 in the front-rear direction.
- the door sash portion 76 of the front door 75 and the door sash portion 78 of the rear door 77 can provide a continuous feeling in the vehicle longitudinal direction when the doors 75 and 77 are closed.
- garnishes 79 and 80 are provided.
- 81 is a weather strip on the body side
- 82 is a weather strip on the door side
- 83 is a glass run channel provided on the door sash portions 76 and 78 via a run channel holder 84
- 85 is a door glass
- Reference numeral 86 denotes a trim member.
- Arrow F indicates the front of the vehicle
- arrow R indicates the rear of the vehicle
- arrow IN indicates the inside of the vehicle
- arrow OUT indicates the outside of the vehicle. The meaning of these arrows is the same in other drawings.
- the vehicle body coating is performed after the vehicle body inner plate portion is painted with the doors 75 and 77 open, and then the vehicle body outer plate portion is painted with the doors 75 and 77 closed. .
- the paint mist enters the vehicle body inward from the gap ⁇ between the door sash portions 76 and 78 and adheres to the pillar outer panel 71 of the center pillar 74. Sometimes.
- car body coating is undercoating (electrodeposition coating) for rust prevention, etc., intermediate coating for improving finish and chipping resistance of coating, and top coating (base coating and coating) for enhancing weather resistance and designability. (Clear painting) is performed.
- the above-mentioned intermediate coating may be omitted because of the low degree of demand for finish and chipping resistance, and the design properties Therefore, the top coat may be applied differently from the vehicle body outer plate.
- At least one of saturation, lightness, or hue is present in the pillar outer panel 71 as the vehicle body inner plate portion and the outer panel of the doors 75 and 77 as the vehicle body outer plate portion.
- the finish may be slightly different.
- the pillar outer panel 71 exhibits a painted appearance with a partially different color tone.
- the problem of the present invention is that the paint mist adheres to the pillar outer panel 71 on the upper side of the door main body upper edge line UL shown in FIG. 1, and the amount of the paint mist on the lower side is small. Or a point that hardly adheres.
- FIG. 12 when the doors 75 and 77 are closed, the gap ⁇ between the door sash portions 76 and 78 is wide, but the gap between the door main body portions is narrow.
- the color tone or texture of the coating film is different between the upper side where the paint mist of the pillar outer panel 71 is much adhered and the lower side where the amount of adhesion is small or zero. For this reason, when the front door 75 or the rear door 77 is opened, the difference in color tone or texture is conspicuous, giving the viewer a sense of incongruity.
- the present invention prevents the viewer from feeling uncomfortable with respect to the color or texture of the paint film on the pillar outer panel even when the door is opened.
- the present invention addresses the above-mentioned problems by devising the shape of the pillar outer panel, not by the coating method such as paint blending or masking.
- the vehicle body presented here includes a center pillar that extends in the up-down direction by partitioning the entrance opening that is opened and closed by the front door and the entrance opening that is opened and closed by the rear door.
- the door body upper edge line of each of the front door and the rear door extends in a straight line in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body.
- the door outer panel of each of the front door and the rear door is coated with at least one of saturation, brightness, and hue different from the coating of the pillar outer panel of the center pillar, or saturation, brightness, Or the coating with the coating material containing the flake-like glitter material which affects a texture is given.
- the pillar outer panel has a panel surface raised in the middle in the vertical direction so that at least a part of the lower side of the pillar outer panel protrudes outside the vehicle body from the upper side.
- the starting end is positioned at substantially the same height as the upper edge line of the door body at least at the center of the pillar width.
- the color tone or texture of the coating film may be different between the upper and lower sides of the pillar outer panel near the upper edge line of the pillar outer panel due to the presence or absence of the paint mist or the difference in the amount of adhesion.
- the raised end of the panel surface of the pillar outer panel is positioned at substantially the same height as the door body upper edge line. For this reason, since the light reflection direction is different between the upper side of the pillar outer panel and the lower side where the panel surface is raised with the vicinity of the upper edge line of the door body portion, the brightness is different. For example, the brightness on the lower side is higher than the upper side of the line. As a result, even when the door is opened, the difference in color or texture of the coating film is not noticeable due to the difference in brightness, and the user does not feel uncomfortable. In other words, the appearance of the vehicle body side portion is improved.
- the raised end of the panel surface forms a horizontal raised line extending in the vehicle longitudinal direction at the center of the pillar width of the pillar outer panel.
- the boundary line in which the color tone or texture of the coating changes changes in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body along the upper edge line of the door main body. Will extend.
- the raised end line of the pillar outer panel extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body corresponding to the boundary line where the color tone or texture changes, the difference in the color tone or texture of the coating film further increases. Less noticeable.
- the pillar outer panel includes a central raised surface extending downward from the raised end of the raised portion at the center of the pillar width, and both raised surfaces extending downward on both sides of the central raised surface, Both side raised surfaces are inclined downward to the front and rear sides of the vehicle body, respectively, and the central raised surface and the both raised surfaces form a ridge line extending in the vertical direction.
- the central raised surface and the raised surfaces on both sides of the pillar outer panel have different light reflection directions with respect to the ridgeline as a boundary, so that a difference in brightness occurs.
- the central raised surface is visually manifested. Therefore, when the paint mist adheres to the central part of the pillar width above the vicinity of the upper edge line of the door body, the difference in the color tone or texture of the coating film becomes even less noticeable. Even if paint mist adheres to the central part of the pillar width below the upper edge line of the door body, the paint may differ depending on the brightness of the raised surface of the central part and the raised surfaces on both sides. The color tone or texture of the film is less noticeable.
- the pillar outer panel includes a central outer surface that extends upward from the raised end of the bulge in the central portion of the pillar width, and both outer surfaces that extend upward on both sides of the central outer surface.
- the outer surfaces on both sides are inclined downward toward the front side and the rear side of the vehicle body, respectively, and the central outer surface and the both outer surfaces form a ridge line extending in the vertical direction. Then, a ridge line formed by the central outer surface on the upper side of the pillar outer panel and the outer side surfaces on both sides and a ridge line formed by the central raised surface on the lower side of the pillar outer panel and the raised surfaces on both sides are continuous.
- the light reflection direction differs between the outer surface of the pillar width central portion and the outer surfaces of the both sides with the ridgeline as a boundary, so that a difference in brightness occurs between them. . Therefore, even if the paint mist adheres to the central part of the pillar width and the difference in color tone or texture of the coating film occurs between the central outer surface of the pillar width and the outer surfaces on both sides, the difference is less noticeable due to the brightness difference. .
- the ridge line formed by the central outer surface on the upper side of the pillar outer panel and the outer surfaces on both sides and the ridge line formed by the central raised surface on the lower side of the pillar outer panel and the raised surfaces on both sides are continuous. Even if the panel surface is raised on the lower side, the continuity in the vertical direction of the entire pillar outer panel is strengthened, which is advantageous for securing the appearance.
- Both the front door and the rear door can be hinge doors that are hinged to the vehicle body.
- the pillar outer panel has a panel surface raised in the middle in the vertical direction so that at least a part of the lower side protrudes to the outside of the vehicle body from the upper side, and the rising end of the pillar outer panel is at least the center of the pillar width. Is positioned at approximately the same height as the upper edge line of the door body, so there is a difference in the color tone or texture of the paint film on the upper and lower sides of the pillar outer panel with the vicinity of the upper edge line of the door body. However, the difference becomes inconspicuous due to the difference in lightness due to the above-described bulging between the upper side and the lower side, and the appearance of the side part of the vehicle body can be improved without taking measures against paint mist such as masking.

- the raised end of the panel surface forms a horizontal starting line HL extending in the front-rear direction of the vehicle body along the door body upper edge line UL at the center of the pillar width of the pillar outer panel 35.
- the raised ends of the panel surface are formed on both sides of the pillar outer panel 35 at the front and rear sides of the pillar width to form an inclined starting line SL extending obliquely downward following the horizontal starting line HL at the center of the pillar width.
- the horizontal starting line HL has the same height as the door body upper edge line UL or is formed within a predetermined distance (for example, about 15 mm) downward from the line UL.
- the horizontal starting line HL is formed slightly below the door body upper edge line UL.
- the outer panel portion 45 has a gradually raised central raised surface 45a extending downward from the horizontal starting line HL at the center of the pillar width, and front and rear raised parts extending downward from the inclined starting lines SL on both sides of the pillar width. And surfaces 45b and 45c.
- the central raised surface 45a and the raised surfaces 45b, 45c on both sides continue to the hinge mounting portion 46 that has traveled to the outside of the vehicle body.
- the central raised surface 45a is formed flat with almost no gradient in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, and the raised surfaces 45b and 45c on both sides are inclined downward toward the front side and the rear side of the vehicle body, respectively. Therefore, the central raised surface 45a and the both raised surfaces 45b form a ridge line RL extending in the vertical direction.
- the outer panel 45 includes a central outer surface 45d extending upward from the horizontal starting line HL at the center of the pillar width, and front and rear outer surfaces 45e extending upward from the inclined starting lines SL on both front and rear sides of the central outer surface 45d. , 45f.
- the central outer surface 45d is formed flat with almost no gradient in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body, and the outer surfaces 45e and 45f on both sides are inclined downward toward the front side and the rear side of the vehicle body, respectively. Therefore, the central outer surface 45d and the both side outer surfaces 45e and 45f form a ridge line QL extending in the vertical direction.
- the ridge line RL formed by the central raised surface 45a and the both raised surfaces 45b and 45c and the ridge line QL formed by the central outer surface 45d and the both outer surfaces 45e and 45f are continuous in the vertical direction.
- the angle ⁇ 1 formed by the central raised surface 45a and the front raised surface 45b of the outer panel portion 45 and the angle ⁇ 2 formed by the central raised surface 45a and the rear raised surface 45c are about 20 ° to 60 °. You can do it. In this example, ⁇ 1 is set to about 30 ° and ⁇ 2 is set to about 45 °.
- the angle ⁇ 4 formed by the central outer surface 45d and the front outer surface 45e at a position corresponding to the intermediate portion of the sash portions 16 and 17 may be about 5 ° to 10 °. In this example, ⁇ 3 and ⁇ 4 are set to 8 °.
- the angle ⁇ 6 formed by the central outer surface 45d and the rear outer surface 45f at the position corresponding to the intermediate portion between the portions 16 and 17 may be about 8 ° to 10 °. In this example, ⁇ 5 and ⁇ 6 are set to 8 °.
- the base coating for the inner plate portion is applied to the inner plate portion of the vehicle body including the pillar outer panel 35 with the doors 1 and 2 being opened.
- the vehicle body outer plate portion including the doors 1 and 2 is subjected to intermediate coating and base coating (for example, metallic base coating and color base coating) for the outer plate portion.
- the clear coating is applied to the inner plate of the vehicle body with the doors 1 and 2 opened, and the top clear coating is applied to the outer plate of the vehicle body with the doors 1 and 2 closed.
- an air spray coating machine, an airless spray coating machine, a rotary atomizing coating machine, or the like is used.

- FIG. 3 there is almost no gap between the door main body portions 14 and 15 of the doors 1 and 2.
- the front door main body 14 and the rear door main body 15 overlap each other.
- the gap between the door sash portions 16 and 17 is relatively wide (see the gap ⁇ in FIGS. 11 and 12). For this reason, there is almost no invasion of paint mist from between the door main body parts 14 and 15 to the inside when the intermediate coating of the vehicle body outer plate part, the base and the clear are applied, but the paint from the gap ⁇ between the door sash parts 16 and 17. Mist enters inside and adheres to the pillar outer panel 35 of the center pillar 3.
- the pillar inner panel 35 and the door outer panels 21 and 22 have a slightly different color tone depending on the presence or absence of intermediate coating and the difference in base paint between the vehicle body inner plate portion and the vehicle body outer plate portion. For this reason, when a large amount of paint mist adheres to the central outer surface 45d of the pillar outer panel 35 as described above, the central outer surface 45d has a different color tone from the door body upper edge line UL and the outer surface 45e, 45f on both sides. . Moreover, when the paint mist at the time of metallic base coating of the vehicle body outer plate part adheres to the central outer surface 45d of the pillar outer panel 35, the orientation of the flake-like glittering material contained in the paint mist becomes low (see FIG. 14). For this reason, the central outer surface 45d exhibits a whitish appearance under the influence of irregular reflection of light by the glittering material.
- the central outer surface 45d of the pillar outer panel 35 has a color tone or a texture different from the door body upper edge line UL and the outer surface 45e, 45f on both sides.
- the panel surface of the pillar outer panel 35 is changed, the viewer hardly receives a sense of incongruity.
- FIG. 10 is a diagram expressing the difference in brightness of each surface of the pillar outer panel 35 by shaded lines when the pillar outer panel 35 is illuminated from the front and obliquely from above. Due to the difference in brightness of each surface, the difference in color tone or texture due to the adhesion of the paint mist to the central outer surface 45d is less noticeable. This will be specifically described below.
- the raised end of the panel surface is positioned at substantially the same height as the door body upper edge line UL.
- the lightness differs between the upper central outer surface 45d and the lower central raised surface 45a with the vicinity of the upper edge line UL of the door main body portion being different in light reflection direction.
- the brightness of the central raised surface 45a is higher than that of the central outer surface 45d.
- the central raised surface 45a and the central outer surface 45d are separated by the horizontal starting line HL along the door body upper edge line UL, the difference in the brightness becomes clear. Further, the central raised surface 45a and the raised surfaces 45b and 45c on both sides have different brightness since the light reflection directions are different at the ridge line RL. As a result, the central raised surface 45a is visually manifested. For this reason, a difference in color tone or texture between the upper side and the lower side with the door main body upper edge line UL as a boundary is further less noticeable.
- the central outer surface 45d above the door body upper edge line UL and the outer surface 45e, 45f on both sides have different light reflection directions with respect to the ridgeline QL, so that a difference in brightness occurs between them. Accordingly, the difference in color tone or texture between the central outer surface 45d and the both outer surfaces 45e, 45f due to the adhesion of the paint mist becomes inconspicuous due to the influence of the lightness.
- a ridge line QL formed by the central outer surface 45d on the upper side and the both side outer surfaces 45e, 45f above the vicinity of the door body upper edge line UL, and a ridge line RL formed by the lower central raised surface 45a and the raised surfaces 45b, 45c on the lower side. Since it is continuous, even if the panel surface of the pillar outer panel 35 is raised on the lower side, the vertical continuity of the pillar outer panel 35 as a whole becomes stronger, which is advantageous for improving the appearance.
