Abstract
Description
上述した本発明の切削工具を構成する超硬合金の製造方法の一例について説明する。まず、WC粉末を80~94質量%と、金属Co粉末を5~15質量%と、B1型固溶相を形成するための化合物粉末として、NbC粉末を0.1~10質量%、他のB1型固溶相を形成するための化合物粉末を10質量%以下の比率で調合する。このとき、B1型固溶相を形成するための化合物原料粉末であるNbC粉末の平均粒径を0.5~2μm、WC粉末の平均粒径を0.5~10μm、金属Co粉末の平均粒径を1.0~2.0μmと調整するとともに、下記混合、焼成工程によって、本発明の切削工具を形成する超硬合金を作製することができる。
平均粒径5μmのWC粉末に対して、平均粒径1.5μmの金属Co粉末を8質量%、平均粒径1.0μmのTiC粉末を0.8質量%、平均粒径1.0μmのNbC粉末を3.5質量%、平均粒径2.0μmのZrC粉末を0.3質量%の比率で調合、添加して、これに有機溶剤を加えて混合・粉砕した後、保形剤を添加してさらに混合し、できたスラリーをスプレードライヤーに投入して造粒粉末を作製した。次に、この造粒粉末を用いて、プレス成形により切削工具形状(CNMG120408PS)に成形を行い、焼成炉にて450℃で3時間脱脂を行った後、1450℃、1時間で焼成して超硬合金を作製した。なお、この超硬合金基体には、走査型電子顕微鏡(SEM)における電子線マイクロ分析(EPMA)にて測定したところ、表面からの厚みが30μmの表面領域が存在していることがわかった。また、同分析にて、表面領域の中間の深さ位置におけるNbの含有量が、前記超硬合金基体の表面からの深さが1000μm以上の内部の深さ位置におけるNbの含有量に対する比率で0.65であることがわかった。

結果は表2に示した。
実施例1の試料No.3に対して、超硬合金基体の組成を表3の組成に変える以外は、実施例1と同じ条件で表3の試料を作製し、実施例1と同様に評価した。結果は表3、4に示した。

Claims (6)
- 超硬合金基体の表面にTiN層、TiCN層、Al2O3層を順に積層してなり、グロー放電発光分光分析(GDS分析)において、前記TiN層および前記TiCN層中にはNbが含有されており、厚み方向における前記TiCN層の中央におけるNbの含有比率が0.1質量%以上であるとともに、前記Al2O3層の中央におけるNbの含有比率は0.05質量%以下である切削工具。
- 前記基体の表面近傍でのNbの含有比率が、前記基体の内部の含有比率に対して0.8以下の比率であるとともに、前記基体の内部におけるNbのNbC換算量での含有比率が1~8質量%である請求項1記載の切削工具。
- グロー放電発光分光分析(GDS分析)において、厚み方向における前記TiCN層の中央におけるNbの含有比率が0.1~0.4質量%である請求項1または2記載の切削工具。
- グロー放電発光分光分析(GDS分析)において、Cの濃度は、前記TiCN層の前記Al2O3層側で一定であり、それから前記TiN層側に向かって一旦増加した後、減少する分布からなる請求項1乃至3のいずれか記載の切削工具。
- 前記TiN層の厚みが0.3~0.6μmである請求項1乃至4のいずれか記載の切削工具。
- 前記超硬合金の基体は、前記Nbの含有比率が一定である内部領域と、該内部領域より前記Nbの含有比率が少ない表面領域とを有し、該表面領域の厚みが5~40μmである請求項1乃至5のいずれか記載の切削工具。
