Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for synthesizing organic substances using supercritical water, and more particularly to a method for synthesizing acrolein, which is a raw material of 1,3-propanediol, from glycerin in the presence of protons.
- 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) is a raw material for high-quality polyester fibers such as polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT), demand has increased in recent years.
- One method for synthesizing 1,3-propanediol is the acrolein hydration / hydrogenation method shown in Non-Patent Document 1. This is produced by subjecting acrolein obtained by subjecting propylene, which is a petroleum raw material, to air oxidation in the presence of a catalyst to hydration and hydrogenation reaction, and has been established as an industrial production method.
- propylene which is a petroleum raw material
- Non-Patent Document 2 is a method of synthesizing acrolein using supercritical water at 400 ° C. and 35 MPa using glycerol, which is a bio raw material, as a starting material. Protons from sulfuric acid added in a small amount to supercritical water are converted into glycerol in supercritical water. It has the effect of increasing the production amount of active hydrogen ions that cause the dehydration reaction, and is characterized by functioning as a promoter for accelerating the progress of the reaction.
- Non-Patent Document 2 while the glycerin concentration in the raw material is extremely low, around 1%, a large amount of energy is consumed for the temperature rise and pressure increase associated with the production of supercritical water. There was a problem that energy utilization efficiency was extremely bad.
- Non-Patent Document 3 the optimum conditions for the reaction time and the concentration of sulfuric acid, which is a cocatalyst, were derived, and the reaction experiment was conducted with the glycerin concentration increased to 15% by weight. Achieved the rate. This improves energy efficiency, but in order to build a market competitive process, it is necessary to reduce running costs by further increasing the glycerin concentration to the limit.
- the amount of reaction by-products such as tar and carbon particles increases with the high concentration of glycerin. As a result, the by-product sticks to the valve disc / valve seat, and this may limit the operating range of the disc, such as wear of the disc / valve seat, which may make precise pressure control difficult. is there.
- Non-Patent Document 3 does not discuss such a problem.
- Patent Document 1 describes (a) a step of supplying an aqueous glycerin phase to an acrolein reaction region to obtain an aqueous acrolein reaction phase at least partially in a supercritical region; and (b) removing acrolein from the acrolein reaction phase. And a process for obtaining an acrolein reaction phase after concentration reduction and acrolein reaction phase after concentration reduction, and (c) a step of refeeding at least a part of the acrolein reaction phase after concentration reduction to the acrolein reaction region.
- the acrolein reaction region preferably contains a dehydration catalyst in addition to water, the dehydration catalyst is a compound other than water that also acts as a strong acid near or in the supercritical region having acidity, and
- the glycerin phase is less than 10% by weight, particularly preferably 8%, based on the total weight of the glycerin phase. Containing less than 6% by weight of glycerin, most preferably less than 6% by weight, and the minimum amount of glycerin in the glycerin phase is preferably 0.01% by weight, particularly preferably 0.1% by weight, most preferably 1% by weight.
- the glycerin concentration of less than 10% by weight in this document is a value where the energy utilization efficiency is not necessarily sufficient, and measures for tar and carbon particles have not yet been examined, and commercialization is difficult.
- Patent Document 2 discloses a method for synthesizing acrolein, using a supercritical fluid or subcritical fluid in a high temperature and high pressure state as a reaction solvent, and acrolein by a one-step synthesis reaction from glycerin under no catalyst or a trace amount of catalytic conditions.
- the present invention relates to a method for producing acrolein, characterized by selectively synthesizing a liquid, using a supercritical fluid or subcritical fluid in a high temperature and high pressure state as a reaction solvent, as a supercritical fluid or subcritical fluid, It discloses that water in a supercritical or subcritical state is used, an inorganic acid is used as a trace catalyst, and an aqueous solution obtained by adding a trace catalyst to an aqueous glycerin solution is used as a raw material. However, under non-catalytic conditions at a temperature of 350 ° C.
- Patent Document 3 discloses an acrolein production catalyst suitable for producing acrolein or an acrolein aqueous solution by volatilizing an aqueous glycerin solution and utilizing a dehydration reaction in a gas phase using a solid catalyst, and an acrolein production method using the same
- the glycerin of the raw material may contain 0 to 95% by weight of an inert condensable substance such as water, and there may be a solvent that does not participate in the reaction. It is described that the content is preferably 5 to 100% by weight.
- this method when the by-products such as tar and carbon particles are generated and cover the catalyst interface, the reactivity is remarkably lowered. For this reason, frequent catalyst regeneration treatment is required, and the plant operation becomes complicated, and a decrease in catalyst performance due to agglomeration phenomenon of the noble metal particles carried by the regeneration operation, which is usually heat treatment, becomes a difficult problem to solve. .
- An object of the present invention is to generate a by-product in a method of synthesizing acrolein by reacting glycerin with supercritical water and an acid under conditions where the concentration of glycerin in the reaction solution is increased to improve energy efficiency.
- the object is to provide a technology that can suppress the blockage and wear of pipes and equipment, and can proceed with synthesis stably at a high yield.
- the glycerin concentration in the reaction solution is 30% by weight or less, the temperature at which the reaction stops (300 ° C. or less), and the tar contained in the reaction solution
- the temperature at which the reaction stops 300 ° C. or less
- the tar contained in the reaction solution After cooling the reaction solution to a temperature (200 ° C. or higher) that can maintain the state of sufficiently reduced viscosity, carbon particles are separated and removed from the reaction solution, and then the reaction solution is below the boiling point of water and in the reaction solution It is characterized by reducing the pressure after cooling to a temperature at which the tar content does not stick to the equipment.
- reaction time t is in the range represented by [Formula 2] by the glycerin concentration [G] (mM) in the reaction solution. It is a feature.
- Another embodiment for enhancing the effect of the present invention is characterized in that, in the above synthesis method, the pore diameter of the filter for separating and removing the solid component is 40 ⁇ m or less.
- Another embodiment for enhancing the effect of the present invention is characterized in that, in the above synthesis method, the concentration of glycerin is 15% by weight or more.
- the reaction time can be precisely controlled, and the amount of by-products generated can be reduced. Furthermore, since the first cooling temperature is a temperature at which the tar component in the reaction solution can maintain a low viscosity, only the carbon particles in the by-product are efficiently separated by a filter having an appropriate pore size, so that only the tar. Can pass through. This prevents the carbon particles from agglomerating, growing and strongly adhering to the filter due to the adhesiveness of the tar, so that the piping can be prevented from being blocked and the pressure reducing valve at the subsequent stage can be prevented from being worn by the carbon particles. .
- the dehydration reaction route of glycerin using supercritical water is shown.
- the Example regarding the synthesis method using supercritical water is shown.
- the glycerin concentration dependency of the reaction time at which the yield is maximized is shown.
- the temperature dependence of the side reaction rate is shown.
- the temperature dependence of tar viscosity at 35 MPa is shown.
- the particle size distribution of carbon particles is shown.
- the glycerol concentration dependence of the maximum reaction yield is shown.
- the filtration temperature and filter pore size dependence of continuous operation time are shown.
- the filtration temperature dependence of the composition of a cake is shown.
- the process for obtaining PTT is shown.
- the glycerin concentration in the reaction solution is 30% by weight or less. This is shown in the dehydration reaction pathway of glycerin using supercritical water in FIG. If it is 30% by weight or less, the coordination water composing glycerin and clusters and the number of working water (molar ratio) for generating active hydrogen ions in the supercritical state are sufficient, and the proper main reaction is governed. (A proton is added to the secondary hydroxyl group of glycerol and two dehydration reactions proceed), and the target substance acrolein is easily synthesized, so that the reaction yield can be improved.
- the concentration of glycerin is 30% by weight or more, the proportion of water is relatively lowered, and the coordination water and working water are gradually deficient. In that case, the location where active hydrogen ions act on the glycerin molecule changes (the dehydration reaction at the primary hydroxyl group becomes dominant), and forms other than the target substance such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde are generated. The yield decreases instead (FIG. 8). This is the reason why the glycerin concentration is set as the upper limit value.
- the reaction liquid is cooled.
- the cooling temperature is set to a temperature (300 ° C., preferably 260 ° C.) or less that can sufficiently stop the main reaction and the side reaction (thermal decomposition) that generates tar and carbon particles.
- FIG. 5 shows the correlation between the temperature and the reaction rate constant of the side reaction. Each time the reaction temperature decreases by 50 ° C., the reaction rate constant decreases by about one digit.
- the side reaction can be reduced by two digits or more by setting the cooling temperature to 300 ° C. or less.
- the cooling temperature should not be lowered below a temperature (200 ° C., preferably 240 ° C.) at which the viscosity of the tar contained in the reaction solution can be kept sufficiently lowered. This is also caused by the sharp increase in tar viscosity as the temperature decreases, as shown in FIG.
- the tar viscosity is desirably reduced to a range of 10 ⁇ 2 to 10 ⁇ 3 Pa ⁇ s or lower.
- the cooling after the reaction is 200 to 300 ° C., preferably 240 to 260 ° C., which is the median region.
- a cooling method an indirect method using a cooling water jacket outside the reaction tube may be used, but direct cooling water is used as the reaction solution.
- the method of mixing is desirable.
- a filter is installed in the back
- the above temperature range is due to the fact that the clogging of the piping, which is mainly present on the carbon particle surface, produces an agglomeration effect and produces large adhesive particles. If the viscosity of the tar is kept low, the carbon particles are trapped by the filter while the tar flows downstream of the filter, so that it is possible to suppress the generation of particles having large and strong adhesion due to the aggregation effect described above. .
- the filter system it is desirable to install a plurality of stages of filters equipped with a backwash device in parallel so that they do not interfere with the continuous operation of the plant, and to operate while switching them (Fig. 2).
- the reaction solution is cooled to a temperature below the boiling point of water and the tar content in the reaction solution is not fixed to equipment such as a pressure reducing valve downstream from the filter. (Second cooling).
- the cooling temperature is 50 to 200 ° C, preferably 50 to 100 ° C. When the temperature is set to 100 ° C. or less, it is possible to avoid sudden boiling at the latter stage of the pressure reducing valve, which is more desirable. Thereafter, the pressure is reduced, and the reaction solution is further cooled as necessary.
- Another embodiment for enhancing the effect of the present invention is that, in the above synthesis method, the proton concentration [H + ] (wt%) in the reaction solution due to the addition of the acid (promoter) is changed to the glycerin concentration [G] ( It is a range represented by [Formula 1] by (mM).
- [Formula 1] is obtained from the result of the experiment (FIG. 3) conducted by the inventor in order to investigate the correlation between the glycerol concentration and the acid concentration and the maximum reaction yield at that time.
- the raw material yield obtained under the concentration conditions is the same maximum reaction at different glycerin concentrations by adjusting the acid concentration within the range where [H + ] 2 / [G] is represented by [Formula 1]. It shows that a yield is obtained.
- reaction time t is in the range represented by [Formula 2] by the glycerin concentration [G] (mM) in the reaction solution. It is a feature.
- the pore diameter of the filter for separating and removing the solid component is 40 ⁇ m or less. This is because, as shown in FIG. 7, the particle size distribution of the carbon particles generated by the reaction between supercritical water and glycerin can be specified within the range of about 40 ⁇ m to 2 mm as a result of analysis. However, if the pore size of the filter is made too small, the differential pressure rises remarkably. Therefore, it is desirable that the pore size is at least 4 ⁇ m where the particle size distribution in FIG. 7 is not confirmed.
- Another embodiment for enhancing the effect of the present invention is characterized in that, in the above synthesis method, the concentration of glycerin is 15% by weight or more. This is because, considering the cost of producing supercritical water, it is economically possible that the energy use efficiency is not a value corresponding to a glycerin concentration of 15% by weight or more.
- FIG. 2 is an example of an acrolein synthesis apparatus according to the present invention.
- water is fed at 35 MPa by a supercritical water high-pressure pump (110), and the temperature is raised to 500 ° C. by a supercritical water preheater (120).
- a raw material consisting of glycerin and dilute sulfuric acid is fed at 35 MPa with a raw material high-pressure pump (210), heated to 250 ° C. with a raw material pre-heater (220), and both are mixed at a junction (230).
- the reaction is started at 400 ° C. and 35 MPa.
- the glycerin concentration immediately after merging is 30% by weight or less, at least eight or more water molecules are coordinated around the glycerin molecules.
- the main reaction proceeds with the addition of protons to the secondary hydroxyl group of glycerin, so the concentration of glycerin can be increased while maintaining a high reaction yield, reducing the cost of acrolein synthesis. can do.
- the main reaction becomes dominant, the amount of by-products generated can be suppressed, and the piping can be prevented from being blocked.
- the molar concentration of glycerin and water (mol / m 3 ) is ([G] / 100) ⁇ 1000/92, 100- [G]) / 100, respectively. Since ⁇ 1000/18, the molar ratio M of both is expressed by the following formula.
- the glycerin concentration is 15% by weight or more.
- FIG. 4 shows the result of arranging the maximum reaction yield obtained by the reaction experiment conducted by the inventors using the glycerol concentration and the sulfuric acid concentration as parameters as [H + ] 2 / [G].
- the reaction yield is low under conditions where [H + ] 2 / [G] is small, ie, under conditions where protons are insufficient, but reaction yields of 70% or more are obtained under conditions where there are sufficiently many protons. I understand.
- the cooling water is fed from the cooling water high-pressure pump (410) in FIG. 2 to the junction (420) and reacted by direct mixing of the cooling water.
- Figure 6 shows the temperature dependence of the reaction rate.
- the optimal reaction time for this reaction is on the order of seconds, and the internal diameter of the reaction pipe is as thick as about 10 cm in the actual machine.
- the direct mixing method of cooling water is the reaction time. Controllability is improved. For this reason, It is extremely effective in reducing the amount of by-products generated.
- the reaction liquid that has stopped the reaction is separated from tar and carbon particles by a subsequent filter (520a, 520b), and only the carbon particles are captured by the filter. Prevents pipe clogging due to particle agglomeration.
- Figure 7 shows the temperature dependence of the viscosity of tar at 35 MPa. At this time, if the viscosity of the tar is 0.1 Pa ⁇ s or less, the filter is clogged with tar, so the reaction stop temperature must be 100 ° C. or more. From the above results, the reaction liquid temperature after cooling water mixing needs to be 100 ° C to 300 ° C, preferably 250 ° C. The method of removing impurities by cooling the reaction solution after cooling is extremely effective in reducing the corrosion rate of the filter.
- the separation and removal performance of the carbon particles can be improved by setting the pore diameter of the filter to 40 ⁇ m or less.
- the carbon particle cake can be discharged alternately by backwashing. This eliminates the need to stop the entire plant, improving continuous operability, reducing heat loss associated with plant startup, and reducing operating costs.
- the reaction liquid from which the carbon particles have been removed is cooled to 60 to 100 ° C. by the second cooler (620), and then the pressure is reduced to atmospheric pressure by the orifice (630) and the pressure control valve (640).
- the liquid is sent to Here, there are two reasons for cooling the reaction solution to 60 to 100 ° C. One is to prevent volume expansion of water when the pressure is released to atmospheric pressure, and to ensure process stability and safety. Another reason is that the distillation temperature of acrolein is 60 to 100 ° C., so that the heating efficiency of the distillation process is improved and the operating cost is reduced.
- the pressure adjustment is performed only by the pressure control valve (640), but there is no problem, but it is desirable to use the orifice (630) together for the purpose of reducing the load on the valve body.
Can be passed. This prevents the carbon particles from agglomerating, growing and strongly adhering to the filter due to the adhesiveness of the tar, so that the piping can be prevented from being blocked and the pressure reducing valve at the subsequent stage can be prevented from being worn by the carbon particles. .
- the second cooling temperature is reduced after the tar is cooled to a temperature at which the tar content does not stick to the equipment, blockage with the pressure reducing valve can be prevented. Furthermore, when the second cooling temperature is equal to or lower than the boiling point of water, the volume expansion of water after decompression can be prevented, and the plant can be stably operated. At that time, since the amount of by-products generated can be reduced, it is possible to prevent blockage of the piping and wear of the valve.
- Cases A-1 to A-5 were subjected to a reaction experiment with the sulfuric acid concentration fixed at 6 mM and the glycerin concentration as a parameter.
- Cases B-1 to B-5 based on [Formula 1] and [Formula 2], a reaction experiment was conducted by optimizing the sulfuric acid concentration and the reaction time according to the glycerin concentration. The reaction yield obtained in the experiment is shown in FIG.
- the reaction yield is low except in the case A with a low glycerin concentration of 1.5% by weight.
- case B where the reaction time and sulfuric acid concentration were optimized, a high reaction yield exceeding 70% was obtained except for case B-5 where the glycerin concentration exceeded 30% by weight. This is consistent with the result that the reaction path changes depending on the coordination number of supercritical water around the glycerol molecule.
- reaction yield can be improved by optimizing the reaction time and sulfuric acid concentration based on [Equation 1] and [Equation 2] at a glycerin concentration of 30% by weight or less. A high rate process was realized.
- the filtration temperature was 10 ° C., 200 ° C., 250 ° C., and the filter pore size was 15 ⁇ m, 40 ⁇ m, 60 ⁇ m.
- FIG. 9 shows the operation time until the filter differential pressure reaches 6 MPa, which is the pressure resistance, in this test.
- the filter pore diameter of 60 ⁇ m data is not shown in the graph because the pressure reducing valve was blocked before the filter differential pressure reached the pressure resistance.
- the reaction was not blocked by the pressure reducing valve and the reaction experiment could be performed stably.
- the tar content of the carbon particles removed at 10 ° C is 90% by weight, compared to 70% by weight at 200 ° C and 10% by weight at 250 ° C. %, which supports the above hypothesis. From this, it was possible to realize a process for realizing stable operation for a long time while separating and removing by-products such as tar and carbon particles generated by the supercritical water reaction.
- acrolein was synthesized from glycerin using the supercritical water reaction process described in Examples 1 and 2 of the present invention, and this was further subjected to hydration reaction and hydrogenation reaction.
- a process for obtaining polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) by converting it to propanediol and polycondensing it with terephthalic acid is shown. If impurities such as organic acids (hydrolysates of fats and oils that are raw materials for biodiesel fuel) and metal salts (alkali catalysts and their reaction products for biodiesel fuel production) are included in the raw material glycerin It is desirable to remove in advance by methods such as separation / filtration, ion exchange, and distillation.
- the purified glycerin was converted to acrolein by the supercritical water reaction process described in Examples 1 and 2 of the present invention.
- the raw material yield at that time was 70.8%.
- the reaction liquid containing acrolein is purified by distillation, etc., and then hydrated in the presence of a catalyst such as a strongly acidic cation exchange resin to obtain 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde (3-HPA), and then a noble metal catalyst.
- the hydrogenation reaction is carried out in the presence.
- Non-Patent Document 1 the conditions of hydration reaction were: temperature 50 ° C, normal pressure, LHSV value 0.5 / h, and hydrogenation reaction conditions: temperature 60 ° C, pressure 15 MPa, LHSV value 1 / h. Selected. The yield in each step at that time was 75% for the hydration reaction and 95% for the hydrogenation reaction, so the total raw material yield so far was about 50%. This was purified by distillation to obtain 1,3-propanediol.
- the obtained 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid were subjected to esterification reaction in the presence of a catalyst such as titanium tetrabutoxide, followed by transesterification to polymerize PTT.
- a catalyst such as titanium tetrabutoxide
- the conditions for the esterification reaction were 210 ° C., pressure 1 atm, time 3 h, the molar ratio of 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid 2.0, and the conditions for the ester exchange reaction were temperature 270 ° C., pressure 1 torr, time 4 h.
- PTT having an average molecular weight of 20,000 and a b value of 3 was obtained.
