Definitions
- the present invention relates to a stainless steel for a fuel cell that is excellent in conductivity and ductility.
- the polymer electrolyte fuel cell is based on the principle of extracting electricity from hydrogen and oxygen through a polymer membrane, and the structure thereof is shown in FIG. 1 as shown in FIG.
- Electrode Assembly 1 is sandwiched between gas diffusion layers 2 and 3 such as carbon cloth and separators 4 and 5 and is used as a single component (so-called single cell). Electromotive force (electromotive force) is generated between the separator 4 and the separator 5.
- the membrane-electrode assembly 1 is called MEA (Membrance-Electrode Assembly), such as a carbon black having a polymer membrane and platinum catalyst supported on the front and back surfaces of the membrane. These electrode materials are integrated, and the thickness is several tens of ⁇ m to several hundreds of ⁇ m. Further, the gas diffusion layers 2 and 3 are often integrated with the membrane-electrode assembly 1.
- Patent Document 1 discloses stainless steel having a surface on which 10 11 particles / m 2 or more of Laves phases having a particle size of 0.3 ⁇ m or more are present.
- the inventors have conducted a thorough investigation on the influence of precipitates on conductivity and ductility.
- Laves phase A 2 B, where A is made of Fe, Cr, Si, etc., B is made of Nb, Mo, W, etc.
- delta phase Predetermined sizes including intermetallics, carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides, or mixtures thereof, such as chi phase, mu phase, etc.
- the present inventors have found that excellent conductivity can be obtained by making the precipitates of the above exist at a predetermined distribution density. Further, it has been found that the ductility is greatly reduced when the ratio of the maximum diameter of the precipitates to the plate thickness is a certain value or more.
- the precipitates referred to here are not only Laves phases (A 2 B, where A is composed of Fe, Cr, Si, etc., and B is composed of Nb, Mo, W, etc.), as well as other ⁇ Intermetallics such as phase, ⁇ phase, ⁇ phase, carbide, nitride, carbonitride, or a mixture thereof.
- stainless steel for a fuel cell separator excellent in conductivity and ductility can be obtained stably.
- the stainless steel used as the base material of the fuel cell separator uses the precipitates to maintain conductivity, so that intermetallic compounds, carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides or It is very important to precipitate these mixtures.
- a ferritic stainless steel which can easily control the form of the precipitate is preferable.
- the corrosion resistance is not significantly reduced.
- the amount of C is limited to 0.01% or less. Note that C combines with Nb, Ti, and Zr described later to form carbide, carbonitride, or a mixture thereof to improve conductivity, but its effect is a decarburization limit level on a mass production scale. Since it is expressed if it is 0.001% or more, there is no particular lower limit.
- Si 1.0% or less Si is an element used for deoxidation, but if contained excessively, ductility is reduced, so the content is limited to 1.0% or less. Preferably it is 0.5% or less.
- Mn 1.0% or less Mn binds to S to form MnS and lowers the corrosion resistance, so it is limited to 1.0% or less. Preferably it is 0.8% or less.
- S 0.01% or less As described above, S is combined with Mn to form MnS and lowers the corrosion resistance, so it is limited to 0.01% or less. Preferably it is 0.008% or less.
- P 0.05% or less P is less desirable because it causes a decrease in ductility. However, if it is 0.05% or less, the ductility is not significantly decreased. For this reason, the amount of P is limited to 0.05% or less. Preferably it is 0.04% or less.
- Cr 20-40% Cr is an essential element for maintaining the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. However, if the content is less than 20%, sufficient corrosion resistance cannot be obtained. On the other hand, if the content exceeds 40%, the ductility is lowered. Limited to a range of ⁇ 40%. Preferably it is 24 to 35% of range.
- Nb, Ti and Zr are all useful elements that improve conductivity by forming carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides, mixtures thereof, or intermetallic compounds. However, if the content is less than 0.05%, the effect of addition is poor. On the other hand, if it exceeds 0.60%, ductility is lowered. Limited to 60% range. Preferably it is 0.10 to 0.50% of range.
- Ni, Cu, V, W, Ta, and Co are each 1% or less for the purpose of improving corrosion resistance, and Ca, Mg, REM (Rare) for the purpose of improving hot workability.
- Earth Metals) and B can be contained at 0.1% or less, respectively. Elements other than the above are the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. Of unavoidable impurities, O (oxygen) is preferably 0.02% or less.
- the target precipitate has an equivalent circle diameter of 0.1 ⁇ m or more.
- the number of such size of the precipitate in less than one per 100 [mu] m 2, since the electrical conductivity is insufficient, and shall be present one or more per 100 [mu] m 2.
- the number is preferably 3 or more per 100 ⁇ m 2 .
- the present invention is limited to 20 ⁇ t / Dmax. Preferably, 25 ⁇ t / Dmax.
- the manufacturing method of the stainless steel of this invention is demonstrated.
- the preferred production conditions are as follows.
- the steel slab adjusted to the above-mentioned preferred component composition is heated to a temperature of 1150 ° C. or higher, hot-rolled, annealed at a temperature of 1000 to 1100 ° C., and then cold-rolled.
- a stainless steel plate having a thickness of 200 ⁇ m or less is obtained.
- the reason why the plate thickness of stainless steel is limited to 200 ⁇ m or less is that when the plate thickness exceeds 200 ⁇ m, the above-described fracture occurs due to the difference in plastic deformation behavior between the precipitate and the matrix.
- the member used for the fuel cell is preferably 200 ⁇ m or less from the viewpoint of weight reduction and size reduction.
- the cooling rate R (° C./s) up to at least 500 ° C. is set to ⁇ 17.27 ⁇ ln (t) + 92 ⁇ R ⁇ 70.
- Controlling to a range is very important in controlling the distribution density of precipitates having the above-mentioned t / Dmax and a predetermined size or more.
- the starting point for calculating the cooling rate is 950 ° C. This is because, in the component range of the present invention, the temperature range in which the amount of precipitates remarkably increases is less than 950 ° C.
- FIG. 2 shows the results of investigating the influence of the cooling rate on the ductility of the stainless steel plate in relation to the plate thickness t ( ⁇ m).
- the cooling rate R is ( ⁇ 17.27 ⁇ ln (t) +92) ° C./s or more.
- the cooling rate R (° C./s) up to at least 500 ° C. is limited to the range of ⁇ 17.27 ⁇ ln (t) + 92 ⁇ R ⁇ 70 in relation to the plate thickness t ( ⁇ m). It was.
- the state of the precipitate is determined only by R.
- the temperature range in which the amount of the precipitate is remarkably increased is less than 950 ° C., whereas the preferable range of the annealing temperature is 950 ° C. or more. This is because most of the precipitates are deposited during the cooling process.
- electrolytic treatment after the above cooling treatment, it is preferable to reduce contact resistance by electrolytic treatment, acid immersion treatment, or the like.
- electrolytic treatment, acid immersion, or the like may be performed before, during, or during the part processing step.
- the obtained cold-rolled annealed plate was descaled by anodic electrolysis for 60 seconds at 6 A / dm 2 in an aqueous sodium sulfate solution (1.4 mol / l) at 80 ° C., and further 5 mass% sulfuric acid at 80 ° C.
- the anode was electrolyzed at 5 A / dm 2 for 60 seconds to expose the surface of the precipitate.
- Tables 2-1 and 2-2 show the results of examining the distribution density, the contact resistance, and the total elongation of precipitates having a diameter of 0.1 ⁇ m or more of the thus obtained stainless steel plate.
- the measuring method of Dmax, circle equivalent diameter: 0.1 ⁇ m or more of the distribution density of precipitates, contact resistance, and total elongation is as follows.
- the maximum equivalent circle diameter of the precipitate was Dmax. However, oxides such as deoxidation products are not included in the precipitate.

- a stainless steel separator can be provided to promote the spread of fuel cells.
Abstract
