Abstract

　ビニルアルコール系重合体を含む紙用塗工剤であって、紙面へ塗工した後のキュア工程を省略可能でありながら、耐水性に優れるとともに経時的な黄変が少ない層（例えば、コート層あるいは発色層）を形成できる紙用塗工剤を提供する。ビニルアルコール単位の含有率Ｘ（モル％）およびエチレン単位の含有率Ｙ（モル％）が、式「Ｘ＋０．２Ｙ＞９５」を満たすビニルアルコール系重合体（Ａ）と、固形分１ｇあたりの末端アルデヒド基の含有量が１．２～３．０（mmol）である、エチレン尿素およびグリオキサールの付加縮合物（Ｂ）とを含み、ビニルアルコール系重合体（Ａ）と付加縮合物（Ｂ）との固形分重量比が、（Ａ）：（Ｂ）＝９９：１～５０：５０の範囲である水性組成物とする。ただし、上記式において、Ｘ＜９９．９、０≦Ｙ＜１０、である。
