Abstract

正極と負極とがプロトン伝導体を介して対向した構造を有し、少なくとも正極に酸素還元酵素などが固定化されており、正極が多孔質カーボンなどの内部に空隙を有する材料からなる燃料電池において、正極に含まれる水の体積が正極の空隙の体積の70%以下となるようにし、少なくとも正極に酵素が固定化される場合に、正極に含まれる水分量の最適化により高い電流値を安定して得ることができる燃料電池およびその動作方法を提供する。
