Definitions
- the present invention relates to an automatic speed bump to control the speed of vehicles, specifically intended to lift automatically when a vehicle is driving at excessive speed.
- the object of the invention is to ensure that vehicles that circulate at excessive speed along a roadway, find it necessary to reduce the speed as a result of the automatic lifting of a speed bump located transversely to the direction of the vehicle, however keeping in position of rest and thereby allowing the passage of vehicles that circulate at a speed equal to or less than the preset in that place.
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) forming an arched spine that forces vehicle drivers to slow down, otherwise the vehicle may suffer the consequences of the jump that will arise when a speed bump of the type referred to crosses it at high speed.
- Rubber bands are also known, although they stand out to a lesser extent than those that implant concrete, however they are noisy, they deteriorate easily, producing separation from the asphalt, losing over time the efficiency and purpose for which they have been planned.
- the roads installed on public roads in which vehicles are intended to run at low speed have the disadvantage that even going at the proper speed, it is not an impediment for the vehicle to have to cross the speed bump, with the consequent inconvenience for the driver, even producing a notable increase in back pain and injuries, especially in those drivers who are continuously crossing those roads, such as transport professionals.
- public and emergency services are also subject to the inconvenience of the crossing of the roads, so that these can be considered as fixed elements that present serious and great problems for certain drivers, that is, for those that circulate at the proper speed , or for those who drive emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, fire trucks, etc.
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26)
- the speed bump that has been recommended has been conceived to solve the above-mentioned problem, based on a simple but highly effective solution, based on the fact that in the rest position the speed bump is coplanar with the asphalt of the roadway, allowing all types of vehicles that run at normal speed or below that previously established in that place, without any problem, but with the particularity that at the moment that a vehicle is traveling at a higher speed or considered as excessive, the speed bump emerges above the asphalt and forces the driver to slow down.
- the automatic speed bump will be complemented with sensors that detect excessive speed so that they send an order to motor-reducers that are part of the speed bump, and act on a sliding carriage in which some crank arms are mounted, which in the position of At rest they are oriented inclined keeping the surface of the speed bump in the same plane as the asphalt, but that when activated there is a displacement of the carriage and consequent vertical arrangement of the crank arms, leading to the lifting of the speed bump.
- the surface that supports the crank arms is formed by hinged plates, preferably constituted by galvanized steel sheet, with hinges to allow the lifting and lowering of the sections that constitute them, all mounted on a concrete base made on the asphalt itself and with stops that limit displacement both in the sense of withdrawal and in the direction of emergency of the speed bump itself.
- crank arms are associated to the crank arms to achieve an efficiency in the tilting and vertical movements of these crank arms in the functions of folding of the speed bump or lifting thereof.
- the automatic speed bump is also complemented by a pair of reduction motors provided in corresponding serrated rails, interspersed between the displacement structures of the crank arms, since in a preferred embodiment of the invention there are three displacement carriages and other groups of arms-cranks, whose cars are guided in two rails or structures provided on the surface of the concrete base.
- Figure 1. Shows a representation corresponding to a cross section of the automatic speed bump object of the invention in operative situation.
- Figure 2. Shows a view like that of the previous figure in an inoperative or rest position of the same automatic speed bump represented in the previous figure.
- the automatic speed bump object of the invention is constituted from a concrete base (1) which is located below the level (2) of the roadway in which the speed bump itself is intended to be implanted. , whose concrete base (1) defines a recess whose internal surface is provided with an asphalt layer (3) and therefore in the horizontal plane of the concrete base (1) a series of transverse structures (4) that constitute guides for respective movable cars (5), their displacement being carried out by means of movable wheel pairs (5), their displacement being carried out by means of metal wheel pairs (6) with bearings, with the particularity that a plurality is mounted on those cars (5) of crank arms (7) with the power to position themselves perpendicularly to the corresponding carriages (5), corresponding to the operating position as shown in figure 1, or to be inclined , as depicted in Figure 2, and corresponding to the inoperative position.
- crank arms (7) support metal plates or plates (9) that in the center overlap each other with Teflon sheets
- Some stops (13) are also provided as limiters of the travel of the carriages (5) on the guides or structures (4), with appropriate end-of-races.
- respective serrated rails (14) are provided for two motor-reducers (15).
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) the vehicle that runs at excessive speed slows down.
- the speed bump determines a surface with lateral stripes (9 ') of alternating colors, for example orange and white with fluorescent, and a light signal in combination with the intermediate strips (9), with the particularity that Once the vehicle has passed at excessive speed, the speed bump returns to its resting position.
- the system will be complemented with appropriate detectors in combination with others provided in certain emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, fire engines, etc., to avoid that even if they circulate at high speed, the speed bump itself is not activated.
- the system is complemented with a presence sensor to avoid accidents when pedestrians approach the own speed bump, and can also be connected to a traffic light to carry out the lifting of the described speed bump.
- the gearmotors (15) can be pneumatically or hydraulically operated and the control system will be based on a wired automatism and / or programmable logic controller, depending on the model's variation and its need. That is to say, the data coming from the different detectors that make up the system can be interpreted, whether they are capacitive, inductive, photoelectric, ultrasound or their specific control modalities, so that the detection of vehicle positioning will come given by a control system based on a proximity sensor that corresponds to a transducer that detects objects or signals that are close to the sensor element.
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) Finally, an electromagnetic type sensor, which works with an electromagnetic field so that when approaching a metallic or non-metallic object produces a change in the electromagnetic field around the sensor element.
- the typical detection system may consist of a coil, an oscillator, a trigger and an output circuit, the operation being similar to the capacitive, the coil detecting the object when a change in the electromagnetic field occurs and sending the signal to the oscillator , to then activate the trigger and finally the circuit that establishes the transmission between open or closed.
- Safety detection for pedestrians will be based on an optical, ultrasonic, capacitive or reluctant detection system, depending on the type of implant being treated, so that the security system can operate using a preventive safety module for stop surveillance emergency series with mechanical safety micros.
- the action of actuators will be allowed or not in consequence of the safety detection, prior to the movement to act on the light and / or acoustic beaconing system according to the need, regulations, implementation or application
- emergency vehicles will be provided with an electronic module that transmits an encrypted code that will be detected by the electronic system of the automatic speed bump, so that it is not activated when such emergency vehicles circulate.
