Abstract

従来の透光性セラミックスの概念とは異なる、極めて光学特性の高いスピネルセラミックスを提供する。本発明は、透明スピネルセラミックスであって、(1)結晶構造が実質的にスピネル立方晶からなり、(2)平均結晶粒子サイズが5~250μmの範囲にあり、(3)厚さ10mmの試料の厚み方向において、波長600nm及び3200nmでの光透過のベースラインにおける直線透過率が70%以上である、ことを特徴とする透明スピネルセラミックス及びその製造方法に係る。
