Abstract

 (i)絹糸腺特異的に発現するタンパク質をコードするDNA のプロモーターの下流に、機能的に結合した転写制御因子をコードするDNA、及び(ii)該転写制御因子の標的プロモーターの下流に、機能的に結合した酒石酸抵抗性酸性ホスファターゼ5b(TRACP5b)をコードするDNA、を有するカイコを作成した。その結果、該カイコから、活性を有するTRACP5b が産生されることがわかった。このことは、該カイコの絹糸腺から産生されたTRACP5 は、絹糸腺で骨吸収部位におけるプロセッシングと同様なプロセッシングを受けることを意味する。
