Abstract

 物理量を検知する画素が行列状に2次元配置されてなる画素アレイ部を有する固体撮像装置において、画素アレイ部から感度の異なる複数の系統の画素信号をアナログで読み出し、前記アナログの画素信号のゲイン設定が所定ゲインよりも低いときは、前記複数の系統の画素信号をそれぞれの基本増幅率で増幅し、前記ゲイン設定が前記所定ゲイン以上のときは、前記複数の系統のうち、感度が高い少なくとも1系統の画素信号を、当該感度の高い系統の基本増幅率よりも高い増幅率を含む複数の増幅率で増幅するようにする。感度の異なる複数の系統の信号を得て広ダイナミックレンジ化を図るに当たり、アナログゲインを上げたときに、AD変換の入力レンジを外れることによる情報の損失を無くし、S/Nの良い画像を得る。
