Abstract
半導体電極の酸化チタン表面と電解液の接触を有効に防ぐための方法と、光電変換効率の高い光電変換素子及びこれを使用した色素増感太陽電池に関する。
この色素増感された半導体電極を有する光電変換素子は、半導体上に色素増感用の色素を吸着させ、色素吸着した半導体をリンス処理し、リンス処理した半導体にカルボン酸を炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着させて得られる。そして、色素吸着及びリンス処理もC1~C4アルコールが存在してもよい炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で行うことが好ましい。

[0001] 本発明は、光吸収のための色素を吸着させた金属酸化物半導体電極を有する光 電変換素子、及びこれを組み込んだ色素増感太陽電池に関する。
背景技術
[0002] 現在、単結晶、多結晶あるいはアモルファスのシリコン半導体を用いた太陽電池が 、電卓などの電気製品や、住宅用などに用いられている。し力 ながら、このようなシ リコン半導体を用いた太陽電池の製造には、プラズマ CVDや高温結晶成長プロセス などの高精度プロセスが用いられるため、多大のエネルギーを必要とすると共に、真 空を必要とする高価な装置が必要なために製造コストが高くなつている。
[0003] そこで、低コストで製造可能な太陽電池として、例えば、酸化チタンのような酸化物 半導体にルテニウム金属錯体のような光増感色素を吸着させた材料を用いた色素増 感太陽電池が提案されている。色素増感太陽電池は具体的には、例えばインジウム 添加酸化スズのような透明導電層を設けた透明ガラス板あるいは透明樹脂板のよう な透明絶縁材料の透明導電層側に、例えばノレテニゥム錯体からなる色素を表面に 吸着した酸化チタンなどを半導体層として形成した負極と、正極となる白金などの金 属層あるいは導電層を設けた透明ガラス板あるいは透明樹脂板のような透明絶縁材 料との間に電解質の液を封入したものである。色素増感太陽電池に光が照射される と、負極では光を吸収した色素の電子が励起し、励起した電子が半導体層に移動し 、更に透明電極へと導かれ、正極では導電層からくる電子により電解質を還元する。 還元された電解質は色素に電子を伝えることで酸化され、このサイクルで色素増感 太陽電池が発電すると考えられてレ、る。
[0004] 現在、色素増感太陽電池はシリコン太陽電池に比して照射光エネルギーに対する 発電エネルギー効率が低ぐその効率を上げることが実効的な色素増感太陽電池を 製造する上での重要な課題となっている。色素増感太陽電池の効率は、それを構成 する各要素の特性や、更にそれら要素の組み合わせによっても影響を受けると考え
られており、さまざまな試みがなされている。中でも光増感作用を持つ色素と半導体 層となる酸化チタンとの相互作用や、酸化チタンへー且注入された電子の電解液な どへの逆電流防止技術についても注力されている。

[0006] 非特許文献 1には、ェォシン Yと呼ばれる有機色素を半導体電極となる酸化チタン に吸着させるに当たり、圧力 25Mpa、温度 493Kの条件下での炭酸ガス超臨界流体を 用レ、、ェントレーナーであるメタノールに溶解させた有機色素を吸着させることにより 、色素増感太陽電池のフィルファクターを向上させる旨が記載されている。特許文献 1には、色素を超臨界流体中で半導体上に吸着させる旨が記載されており、ここでは 超臨界条件として圧力約 8Mpa、温度 40°Cであることが記載されている。特許文献 5に も超臨界流体中での吸着に関する記載がある。非特許文献 2及び特許文献 7には、 色素吸着後の半導体電極となる酸化チタンに、酢酸を吸着させることにより、色素増 感太陽電池としたときの短絡電流密度を大きく向上させることができる旨が記載され ている。
[0007] 特許文献 6には色素を吸着させる方法についての記載があり、更にリンス処理につ いても述べられている。し力し、リンス処理後のカルボン酸処理については開示され ていない。
発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0008] しかし、上記のような方法によっても、光電変換効率は十分には向上しない。そこで 、本発明は、半導体電極である半導体表面への色素の吸着を最適化し、それにより 半導体表面と電解液の接触を防ぎ、もって、光電変換効率の高い素子又はこれを用 レ、た色素増感太陽電池を得ようとするものである。
課題を解決するための手段
[0009] 本発明は、色素増感に用いられる色素を半導体上に吸着させたものをリンス処理し たものにカルボン酸を炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着させて得られた色素増感された 半導体電極を有する光電変換素子に関する。
また、本発明は、色素増感に用いられる色素を半導体上に吸着させること、リンス処 理すること、及びカルボン酸を炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着させることを含む色素増 感された半導体電極を有する光電変換素子の製造方法に関する。更に、本発明は 上記光電変換素子を用いて構成した色素増感太陽電池に関する。

発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0012] 本発明の光電変換素子の基本構成を示す図 1により説明する。図 1は色素増感太 陽電池の一例を示す断面図であり、基板 1上に、導電層 2と色素吸着半導体層 3の順 に積層された表面電極 10と、基板 4上に導電層 5が設けられた対向電極 11を有し、両 電極間に電解質 6を配した構成となっている。色素吸着半導体層 3は、電極の一部を 構成するため半導体電極ともいう。色素吸着半導体層 3は、酸化チタン粒子等の金 属酸化物粒子とこの粒子の表面を覆うように存在する増感色素からなっている。なお 、光は表面電極 10側から入る。そして、本発明の色素増感太陽電池は、上記と同様
な基本構成を有するが外部回路で仕事をさせるようにしたものである。そして、光電 変換素子を色素増感太陽電池とする方法は公知の方法でよい。
[0013] 基板 1としては、透明な絶縁材料であれば特に限定されるものではなぐ例えば通 常のガラス板やプラスチック板などが挙げられ、更には屈曲性のあるものでも良ぐ例 えば PET樹脂などが挙げられるが、好ましくは約 500°Cを上限にした酸化チタンを焼 付ける工程に耐え得る耐熱材料であることであり、透明なガラス板が挙げられる。
[0014] 次に、この基板 1の表面に基材の透明性を損なわないような導電層 2を設けるが、導 電層としてはいわゆる透明電極として知られている ITO、 FT〇、 ATOあるレ、はこれらを 組み合わせたものでよぐ更には透明性を損なわない厚みの金属層であってもよい。 これらの導電層を設ける方法は特に限定されるものではなぐスパッタリング、蒸着 VD及び PVDを含む)、スプレー、レーザアブレーシヨンあるいはペーストイ匕した各材 料を用いるスピンコート、バーコート、スクリーン印刷の手法など既知の手法を用いる こと力 Sできる。しかし、スプレー法又は気相で行われるスパッタリング又は蒸着法が適 する。
[0015] この上に、色素吸着半導体層 3を設ける。通常は半導体として金属酸化物の層を形 成したのち、これに増感色素を吸着させる。金属酸化物としては、光電変換材料と知 られているものが使用でき、酸化チタン、酸化亜鉛、酸化タングステン等を挙げること ができるが、酸化チタンが好ましい。酸化チタンとしては、アナターゼ型、ルチル型、 ブルッカイト型等の酸化チタンの他、水酸化チタン、含水酸化チタン類であってもよ レ、。また、 Nb、 V又は Taの各元素の少なくとも 1つを酸化チタンに対して 30ppm〜5%の 重量濃度(金属元素として)になるようドーピングしてもよレ、。このような金属酸化物で あれば、本発明に用いることが可能である力 平均粒子径が 5〜500nm、好ましくは 10 〜200 nmの範囲の微粒子であることがよい。
[0016] 金属酸化物の層を前記透明電極 2上に形成するが、その方法については、特に限 定されるものではなぐ例えばペースト化した金属酸化物をスピンコート、印刷、スプ レーコートなどの各手法を用いても良い。また、製膜後に酸化チタン等の金属酸化物 の焼結などを目的に焼成することも可能である。次に、金属酸化物に色素を吸着させ て色素吸着金属酸化物として、色素吸着半導体層 3とする。なお、金属酸化物に色
素を吸着させたのち、ペースト化して色素透明電極 2上にコートして色素吸着半導体 層 3を形成することもできる。
[0017] 本発明では色素吸着半導体層 3に特徴があり、その他の層又は材料は公知の構造 又は材料とすることができ、図 1に示す構造.0のものに限らなレ、。色素吸着半導体層 3を構成する材料は、半導体と色素であるが、通常、半導体は金属酸化物、好ましく は酸化チタンであるので、半導体を金属酸化物又は酸化チタンで代表することがあ る。また、色素増感用の色素としては、特に限定されるものではなぐ金属錯体色素、 有機色素、フタロシアニン色素、ポルフィリン色素、メチン色素などの色素、あるいは これら色素が混合されたものでもよい。好ましくは金属錯体色素であり、更に好ましく はルテニウム錯体色素である。
[0018] ルテニウム錯体色素としては、特許文献 1〜4や特許文献 1中でルテニウム錯体色 素を紹介しているとして示された文献 (例えば、 USP4927721号明細書等)に記載され たような公知のルテニウム錯体色素であって、溶剤可溶なものを使用することができ る。例えば、シス- L2-ビス (2,2'-ビビリジル -4,4'-ジカルボキシレート)ルテニウム (II)錯 体(ここで、 Lはハロゲン、 CN又は SCNである)、シス一 L2—ビス(2,2,一ビビリジル一 4 ,4'—ジカルボキシレート)ルテニウム(II)—ビス一テトラプチルアンモニゥム、又はトリ ス L2 ルテニウム(II)— 2,2',6' 2" ターピリジン 4,4' 4" トリカルボキシル酸 トリスーテトラブチルアンモニゥム塩などである。
[0019] 本発明では、これらの色素を酸化チタンなどの半導体である金属酸化物等に吸着 させた後、リンス処理を行い、次いで炭酸ガス超臨界流体中でカルボン酸を吸着させ るものである。これらの色素を金属酸化物などの半導体に吸着させる方法としては、 例えば適当な溶媒に色素を溶解した色素溶液中に、基板 1上に、導電膜 2及び金属 酸化物層を形成したものを浸す、いわゆる含浸法などを挙げることができる。しかし、 含浸法では、色素溶液の表面張力などの影響により、酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物 の微細孔内にまで有効に色素を吸着させるに至らず、従って、酸化チタンなどの金 属酸化物表面を色素分子で完全に覆い尽くすことができず、色素吸着量の不足や、 露出した酸化チタン表面が直接電解液に接触することによる逆電流の発生などの問 題が発生し、色素増感太陽電池の光電変換効率を低下させる場合もある。
[0020] そこで、本発明では、好ましくは、金属酸化物に、炭酸ガス超臨界流体を用いて色 素を吸着させる。炭酸ガス超臨界流体を用いた色素の吸着は、例えば、金属酸化物 層を設けた導電層付基板を、色素含有炭酸ガス超臨界流体中に配置して含浸させ ることにより行うことができる。図 2は、吸着操作に使用する圧力装置を示す模式図で あり、圧力容器 21中に、金属酸化物層を設けた導電層付基板 22が保持台 24上に配 置される。容器 21内には色素を溶解した溶液 23が存在し、スタラー 25で攪拌される。 炭酸ガスが容器内に導入され、圧力調整弁 26により所定の圧力に保たれる。超臨界 状態となった炭酸ガス流体は溶液 23と混合された液となり、基板 22と接触し、含浸が 行われる。
[0021] この際、メタノーノレ、エタノール、プロパノール及びブタノールのうちの少なくとも 1種 類を含むアルコールに溶解した色素を使用し、圧力範囲が 10〜25Mpaであり、温度 範囲が 40〜60°Cで形成される炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着するとより良好な吸着が なされる。更に、この吸着を大気圧と上記圧力範囲の間で降圧及び昇圧を連続的に 繰り返すことがより好ましい。
上記アルコールに溶解する色素の濃度は特に限定されないが、好ましくは 1 X 10— 4 mol/L以上、 3 X 10— 3mol/L以下の範囲である。炭酸ガス超臨界流体は、その表面張 力が非常に小さいものであることが知られている力 超臨界流体中で色素を吸着させ ることにより、酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物の微細孔内にまで色素が入り込み、有効 に吸着させることができると考えられる。
[0022] 本発明では、上記のようにして色素を吸着させた金属酸化物などの半導体をリンス 処理する。リンス処理の方法としては、色素吸着後の酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物を 、メタノールやエタノールなどのアルコールに浸漬するなどして、余分に付着した色 素を洗い流す方法が挙げられる。リンス処理を行う理由は、余分な色素を洗い落とす ためであり、詳細は不明であるが、色素吸着の際、例えば色素分子の上に更に重な るように吸着した色素分子が存在した場合、酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物に接触し ない色素分子は発電に関与しないば力、りでなぐ入射した光を吸収してしまうことによ る光電変換効率の低下を抑制する作用が考えられる。
[0023] 色素を超臨界流体中で吸着させた場合には、炭酸ガス超臨界流体を用いたリンス
処理が好ましいことを見出した。これは、特に酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物の微細孔 内にあるこのような余分な色素を洗い流すことが重要なためと考えられる。この炭酸ガ ス超臨界流体を用いたリンス処理とは、具体的には、炭酸ガス超臨界流体中に色素 吸着した酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物を置くか、更に好ましくは、メタノーノレ、ェタノ ール、プロパノール、ブタノールのうちの少なくとも 1種類のアルコールを含む炭酸ガ ス超臨界流体中に色素吸着した酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物又はこれを積層した 基板を置くことで、効果的に行える。また、本リンス処理にも上記圧力装置を使用する こと力 sできる。
[0024] 炭酸ガス超臨界流体を用いたリンス処理の場合の条件は特に限定されるものでは なぐ炭酸ガスの超臨界状態を形成できる条件でよいが、好ましくは圧力範囲が 10〜 25Mpaであり、温度範囲が 40〜60°Cである。なお、リンス処理では吸着した色素の一 部のみ (余分な色素)を洗レ、流すように条件が設定される。
[0025] リンス処理終了後、色素の吸着した金属酸化物には、更に炭酸ガス超臨界流体中 でカルボン酸を吸着させる。カルボン酸を吸着させる効果は、前述の通り非特許文献 2及び特許文献 7により公知である。し力しながら、色素吸着やリンス処理と同様に、 酸化チタンなどの金属酸化物の微細孔内部まで有効に吸着させることが重要である 。色素の吸着した金属酸化物(色素の吸着した金属酸化物層を有する基板であって もよレ、)とカルボン酸を、圧力範囲が 8〜30Mpaであり、温度範囲が 40〜60°Cで形成さ れる炭酸ガス超臨界流体中に置くことで、有効にカルボン酸を吸着できることを見出 した。カルボン酸としては、好ましくは安息香酸、酢酸、ァニス酸、ニコチン酸、プロピ オン酸、酪酸、 0-ブロモ安息香酸、 m-ブロモ安息香酸、 P-ブロモ安息香酸、 3-ブロ モプロピオン酸、 ひ-プロモ _p -トルィル酸、 4- (ブロモメチル)安息香酸、 0_クロ口安 息香酸、 m-クロ口安息香酸、 P-クロ口安息香酸、 0-ョード安息香酸、 m-ョード安息香 酸、 P-ョード安息香酸、 4-ブロモイソフタル酸、 2_ (トリメチルシリル)酢酸、 2—チオフ ェンカルボン酸等を挙げることができる力 これらに限定されるものではない。特に、 分子が小さく酸化チタンの表面に吸着しやすいことから、酢酸、プロピオン酸、酪酸 が好ましい。これらカルボン酸は、メタノーノレ、エタノール、プロパノール、ブタノール のうちの少なくともいずれ力、 1種類を含むアルコールに溶解した状態で使用すること
が好ましぐそのカルボン酸濃度が 0· 01〜: 10mol/Lの範囲であることが好ましい。
[0026] 上記のように基板 1、透明導電膜 2及び色素吸着半導体層からなる表面電極 10は負 極として作用する。もう一方の正極として作用する電極(対向電極) 11は図 1に示すよ うに、表面電極 10と対向して配置する。正極となる電極は、導電性の金属などでよぐ また、例えば通常のガラス板やプラスチック板などの基板 4に金属膜や炭素膜等の導 電膜 5を施したものでもよい。
[0027] 負極となる表面電極 10と、正極となる対向電極 11の間には、電解質層を設ける。こ の電解質層の種類は、光励起され半導体への電子注入を果した後の色素を還元す るための酸化還元種を含んでいれば特に限定されず、液状の電解質であってもよく 、これに公知のゲルィ匕剤(高分子又は低分子のゲル化剤)を添加して得られるゲル 状の電解質であってもよレ、。
[0028] 例えば、溶液電解質に用いる電解質の例としては、ヨウ素とヨウ化物(Lil、 Nal、 KI、 Csl、 Cal等の金属ヨウ化物、テトラアルキルアンモニゥムョーダイド、ピリジニゥムョー ダイド、イミダゾリゥムョーダイド等の 4級アンモニゥム化合物ヨウ素塩等)の組み合わ せ、臭素と臭化物(UBr、 NaBr、 KBr、 CsBr、 CaBr 等の金属臭化物、テトラアルキノレ アンモニゥムブロマイド、ピリジニゥムブロマイド等の 4級アンモニゥム化合物臭素塩等 )の組み合わせ、ポリ硫化ナトリウム、アルキルチオール、アルキルジスルフイド等のィ ォゥ化合物、ビォロゲン色素、ヒドロキノン、キノン等が挙げられる。電解質は混合して 用いてもよい。
[0029] また、電解質としては、高沸点を有する溶融塩電解質が好ましい。半導体電極が色 素吸着酸化チタン層からなる場合は、溶融塩電解質と組み合わせることにより、特に 優れた電池特性を発揮する。溶融塩電解質組成物は溶融塩を含む。溶融塩電解質 組成物は常温で液体であるのが好ましレ、。主成分である溶融塩は室温にぉレ、て液 状であるか又は低融点の電解質であり、その一般的な例としては「電気化学」、 1997 年、第 65卷、第 11号、 p. 923等に記載のピリジニゥム塩、イミダゾリウム塩、トリアゾリ ゥム塩等が挙げられる。溶融塩は単独で使用しても 2種以上混合して使用してもよい 。また、 Lil、 Nal、 KI、 LiBF、 CF CO〇Li、 CF C〇〇Na、 LiSCN、 NaSCN等のアルカリ 金属塩を併用することもできる。通常、溶融塩電解質組成物はヨウ素を含有する。溶
融塩電解質組成物の揮発性は低レ、ことが好ましく、溶媒を含まなレ、ことが好ましレ、。 溶融塩電解質組成物はゲル化して使用してもよい。
[0030] 電解液に溶媒を使用する場合は、粘度が低く高イオン移動度を示し、優れたイオン 伝導性を発現できる化合物であることが望ましい。このような溶媒の例としては、ェチ レンカーボネート、プロピレンカーボネート等のカーボネート化合物、 3-メチル -2-ォ キサゾリジノン等の複素環化合物、ジォキサン、ジェチルエーテル等のエーテルィ匕 合物、エチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル、プロピレングリコールジアルキルエー テル、ポリエチレングリコールジアルキルエーテル、ポリプロピレングリコールジアルキ ノレエーテル等の鎖状エーテル類、メタノーノレ、エタノール、エチレングリコールモノア ノレキノレエーテノレ、プロピレングリコーノレモノァノレキノレエーテノレ、ポリエチレングリコー ノレモノァノレキノレエーテノレ、ポリプロピレングリコーノレモノァノレキノレエーテノレ等のァノレコ 一ノレ類、エチレングリコーノレ、プロピレングリコーノレ、ポリエチレングリコーノレ、ポリプロ ピレンダリコール、グリセリン等の多価アルコール類、ァセトニトリル、グルタロジニトリ ノレ、メトキシァセトニトリル、プロピオ二トリル、ベンゾニトリル等の二トリル化合物、ジメ チルスルホキシド、スルフォラン等の非プロトン極性物質、水等が挙げられる。これら の溶媒は混合して用いることもできる。
[0031] 電解質層を設ける方法は特に限定されるものではなぐ例えば両電極の間にフィノレ ム状のスぺーサ 7を配置して隙間を形成し、その隙間に電解質を注入する方法でも 良ぐまた、負極内面に電解質を塗布などした後に正極を適当な間隔をおいて積載 する方法でも良い。電解質が流出しないよう、両極とその周囲を封止することが望ま しいが、封止の方法や封止材の材質については特に限定するものではない。
実施例
[0032] 以下、実施例及び比較例に基づいて本発明について更に詳細に説明する。

30mm X 25mm X 3mmの透明導電膜付ガラス基板として日本板ガラス製の FTO (フッ 素ドープ酸化スズ)膜付ガラス基板(商品名: Low- Eガラス)を使用した。
次に、導電性膜付き基板の導電性膜上に、酸化チタン膜を形成した。酸化チタン は、市販の酸化チタンペースト(ソラロ二タス社製 Dペースト)を使用した。これを、導電
性膜付き基板の導電性膜上に、スキージ印刷の手法で 20mm X 5mmの範囲に塗工し 、乾燥後 450°Cで焼成して厚み 15 / mの酸化チタン層を形成した積層板を得た。
[0034] 色素は市販のルテニウム錯体色素(ソラロ二タス N3)を使用した。これを 3 X 10— 4mol/ Lとなるようにエタノールに溶解させた。色素の吸着は、含浸法と炭酸ガス超臨界流 体を用いる方法で行った。含浸法は、上記色素溶液に前記積層板を室温で 24時間 浸漬させ、色素を吸着した積層板を得た。超臨界流体を用いる方法は、図 2に示す ような、 日本分光製超臨界装置の圧力容器に色素溶液を入れ、更に上記酸化チタン 層を形成した積層板を配置し、炭酸ガスで容器内をパージした。更に、所定の温度と 圧力になるよう調整して炭酸ガス超臨界流体を形成し、色素溶液をスターラーで攪拌 しながら 30分間保持した。炭酸ガスを抜いて定圧に戻した後、圧力容器から色素の 吸着した積層板を取り出した。
[0035] 次に、リンス処理を、浸漬法と、炭酸ガス超臨界流体を用いる方法で行った。浸漬 法は、色素を吸着した積層板を、エタノール溶液に数回浸すことで行った。炭酸ガス 超臨界流体を用いる方法は、上記圧力容器に、色素を吸着した積層板を配置し、ェ タノールを積層板が浸らない程度入れ、色素の吸着と同様に炭酸ガスで容器内をパ ージした後、所定の温度と圧力になるよう調整して炭酸ガス超臨界流体を形成し、ェ タノールをスターラーで攪拌しながら 30分間保持した。炭酸ガスを抜いて定圧に戻し た後、圧力容器からリンス処理した積層板を取り出した。
[0036] 次に、上記圧力容器に、リンス処理した積層板を配置し、酢酸 1重量%を含むエタノ 一ルを積層板が浸らない程度入れた。色素の吸着と同様に炭酸ガスで容器内をパ ージした後、所定の温度と圧力になるよう調整して炭酸ガス超臨界流体を形成し、ェ タノールをスターラーで攪拌しながら 30分間保持して、酢酸を吸着させた。炭酸ガス を抜いて定圧に戻した後、圧力容器からカルボン酸処理した積層板を取り出した。
[0037] この積層板の酸化チタンの膜を形成した 20mm X 5mmの外周 4辺に厚み 50 μ mのァ ィオノマー樹脂からなるシート状の熱可塑性接着剤(三井デュポンポリケミカル社商 品名;ハイミランシート)を、電解液が注入できるよう、外周部の 2箇所に約 lmm程度の 隙間を設けるようにして貼り付けた。この熱可塑性接着剤は、封止材であると同時に 、両極間のスぺーサの役割を果たす。次に、正極となる厚み 10nmの白金膜をスパッ
タリングの手法で形成したガラス基板を、白金側が酸化チタン側と対向するように前 記熱可塑性接着剤フィルムを介して貼り合わせた。この熱可塑性接着剤フィルムの 隙間から、 0.5Mの Lil、 0.5Mの t-ブチルピリジンと、 0.05Mのヨウ素を主成分として含む ァセトニトリル溶液を、毛細管現象を利用して基材と正極の間に満たした。電解質を 満たした後、直ちに前記隙間をエポキシ樹脂接着剤で封止して、光電変換素子を得 た。

実施例と同一条件で酸化チタン層を形成した積層板を得た。
色素は市販のルテニウム錯体色素(ソラロ二タス N3)を使用した。これを 3 X 10— 4mol/ Lとなるようにエタノールに溶解させた。この色素溶液に前記積層板を室温で 24時間 浸漬させ、色素を吸着した積層板を得た。色素を吸着した積層板を、エタノール溶液 に数回浸し、リンス処理した。酢酸を 1重量%含むエタノール溶液の中に、リンス処理 した積層板を室温で 5分間浸漬し、その後、エタノール溶液に数回浸してカルボン酸 処理した積層板を得た。これ以降の工程は、実施例と同様にして光電変換素子を作 成した。

[0043] 実施例及び比較例で作成した光電変換素子を色素増感太陽電池として、その電
池特性を、 AMI.5の擬似太陽光を用いて特性評価した。結果を表 1に示す。また、色 素を吸着処理、リンス処理及びカルボン酸処理の条件を表 1に示す。 CO圧力が記 載されていない例は、 CO超臨界流体を使用しないことを意味する。

産業上の利用の可能性
本発明の光電変換素子又はこれから構成した色素増感太陽電池は、光電変換効 率が高い。
Claims
[1] 色素増感された半導体電極を有する光電変換素子において、半導体に色素増感 用の色素を吸着させ、色素を吸着した半導体をリンス処理し、リンス処理した色素吸 着半導体にカルボン酸を炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着させて得られたものであるこ とを特徴とする光電変換素子。
[2] 色素増感用の色素がルテニウム錯体である請求項 1記載の光電変換素子。
[3] 半導体上に色素増感用の色素を吸着させ、色素を吸着した半導体をリンス処理し、 リンス処理した色素吸着半導体にカルボン酸を炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着させる ことを特徴とする色素増感された半導体電極を有する光電変換素子の製造方法。
[4] カルボン酸を、圧力 8〜30Mpa、温度 40〜60°Cの炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で吸着さ せる請求項 3記載の光電変換素子の製造方法。
[5] 色素増感用の色素を炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で半導体に吸着させ、炭酸ガス超臨 界流体でリンス処理することを特徴とする請求項 3又は 4記載の光電変換素子の製造 方法。
[6] 色素増感用の色素を C1〜C4アルコールに溶解させ、圧力 10〜25Mpa、温度 40〜6
0°Cの炭酸ガス超臨界流体中で半導体に吸着させ、炭酸ガス超臨界流体又は Cl〜 C4アルコールを含む炭酸ガス超臨界流体でリンス処理する請求項 3〜4のいずれか に記載の光電変換素子の製造方法。
[7] 請求項 1又は 2記載の光電変換素子を用いて構成したことを特徴とする色素増感 太陽電池。
