Description

明細書 高分子化合物およびそれを用いた高分子発光素子 技術分野
本発明は、 高分子化合物および該高分子化合物を用いた高分子発光素子 (以下、 高分 子 LEDということがある。 ) に関する。
背景技術
高分子量の発光材料は、 低分子量の発光材料とは異なり溶媒に可溶で塗布法により発 光素子における発光層を形成できることから種々検討されており、 その例としては、 ポ リフエ二レンビニレン誘導体、 ポリフルオレン誘導体、 ポリフエ二レン誘導体などが知 られている。
発明の開示
本発明の目的は、 発光材料として有用な新規な高分子化合物、 該高分子化合物を用い た高分子発光素子を提供することにある。
すなわち本発明は、 以下 [1] ~ [3] の高分子化合物を提供するものである。
[1] 下記式 (A) で示される繰り返し単位を 1種類以上有する高分子化合物であつ て、 さらに下記式 (B) で示される構造を含むことを特徴とする高分子化合物。
一 Ar— (A)
[式中、 Arは、 ァリーレン基、 2価の複素環基、 2価の芳香族ァミン基若しくは金属 錯体構造を有する 2価の基を表す。 ] '

発明を実施するための最良の形態
本発明の高分子化合物は、 前記式 (A) で示される繰り返し単位を 1種類以上含み、 さらに前記式 (B) で示される構造を含む。
高分子化合物中に前記式 (B) で示される構造を含むとしては、 前記式 (B) で示さ れる構造を高分子化合物の主鎖、 側鎖、 末端のいずれかに含む場合、 若しくは部分構造 として前記式 (B) を含む構造を高分子化合物の主鎖、 側鎖、 末端のいずれかに含む場 合があげられる。
部分構造として前記式 (B) を含む構造としては、 例えば下記構造があげられる。

[式中、 A環、 X,および R*は前述と同じ意味を表す。 B' 環および C環はそれぞれ独 立に置換基を有していてもよい芳香環を表す。 ]
前記式 (B) で示される構造は、 高分子化合物中の主鎖中に 1個含む場合、 繰り返し 高分子化合物の主鎖中に単位として含む場合、 高分子化合物の側鎖中に含む場合、 高分 子化合物の末端に含む場合がある。
前記式 (B ) で示される構造は、 高分子化合物中の主鎖中に繰り返し単位として含む 場合、 発光効率の観点からは、 本発明の高分子化合物が有する全繰り返し単位の合計の 0 . 1モル%以上含むことが好ましく、 0 . 1モル%以上 9 0モル%以下であることが より好ましい。
上記式 (B ) で示される構造が下記式 (B— 2 ) で示される場合、 高分子化合物の側 鎖または末端に存在する。 これらの場合、 高分子化合物の繰り返し単位に前記式 (B ) で示される構造を含んでいてもよいし、 含んでいなくてもよい。

前記式 (B ) で示される構造を高分子化合物の主鎖中に含む場合、 前記式 (B ) の部 位において分岐していてもよい。
前記式 (B) において、 A環および B環はそれぞれ独立に置換基を有していてもよい 芳香環を表す。 該芳香環としては、 ベンゼン環、 ナフタレン環、 アントラセン環、 フエ ナントレン環、 ピレン環、 ペリレン環、 テトラセン環、 ペン夕セン環等の芳香族炭化水 素環;ピリジン環、 ピリミジン環、 ピリダジン環、 ピラジン環、 キノリン環、 イソキノ リン環、 キノキサリン環、 キナゾリン環、 ァクリジン環、 フエナント口リン環、 チオフ ェン環、 ベンゾチォフェン環、 ジベンゾチォフェン環、 チォフェンォキシド環、 ベンゾ チォフェンォキシド環、 ジベンゾチォフェンォキシド環、 フラン環、 ベンゾフラン環、 ピロール環、 インドール環、 ジベンゾピロール環、 シロール環、 ベンゾシロール環、 ジ ベンゾシロール環、 ポロール環、 ベンゾポロ一ル環、 ジベンゾポロール環などの複素芳 香環が挙げられる。 耐熱性、 蛍光強度、 素子特性等の観点から、 芳香族炭化水素環であ ることが好ましく、 中でもベンゼン環、 ナフタレン環、 アントラセン環、 フエナントレ ン環が好ましい。 また、 前記式 (B) を含む構造の上記例示において、 B ' 環および C 環の具体例としては、 上記 A環および B環と同様のものが挙げられる。
A環と B環との組合せとして、 好ましくはベンゼン環とベンゼン環、 ベンゼン環とナ フタレン環、 ベンゼン環とアントラセン環、 ベンゼン環とフエナントレン環、 ナフタレ ン環とアントラセン環、 ナフタレン環とフエナントレン環、 アントラセン環とフエナン トレン環の組合せが挙げられ、 ベンゼン環とベンゼン環の組み合わせがより好ましい。 前記式 (B) における R* は、 水素原子;アルキル基、 ァリール基、 ァリールアルキ ル基、 ァリールォキシアルキル基、 1価の複素環基等の 1価の基; 2価の基を示す。 発光効率の観点からは、 アルキル基、 ァリール基、 ァリールアルキル基、 ァリールォ キシアルキル基または 1価の複素環基であることが好ましい。 溶解性の観点からは、 ァ ルキル基、 ァリールアルキル基またはァリ一ルォキシアルキル基が好ましい。
ここに、 アルキル基は、 直鎖、 分岐または環状のいずれでもよく、 炭素数が通常 1〜 20程度であり、 その具体例としては、 メチル基、 ェチル基、 プロピル基、 i一プロピ ル基、 ブチル基、 i一ブチル基、 t一ブチル基、 ペンチル基、 へキシル基、 シクロへキ シル基、 ヘプチル基、 ォクチル基、 2—ェチルへキシル基、 ノニル基、 デシル基、 3, 7—ジメチルォクチル基、 ラウリル基などが挙げられ、 メチル基、 ェチル基、 プロピル 基、 ブチル基、 ペンチル基、 へキシル基、 ォクチル基、 2—ェチルへキシル基、 デシル 基、 3, 7—ジメチルォクチル基が好ましい。
ァリール基は、 炭素数が通常 6〜 60程度であり、 その具体例としては、 フエニル基 、 C,〜C12アルコキシフエニル基 (C,〜C12は、 炭素数 1〜12であることを示す。 以下も同様である。 ) 、 〜 2アルキルフエニル基、 1—ナフチル基、 2—ナフチ ル基などが例示され、 フエニル基、 C,〜CI 2アルコキシフエニル基、 〜〇12アルキ ルフエニル基が好ましい。
ァリールアルキル基は、 炭素数が通常 7〜 60程度であり、 その具体例としては、 'フ ェニルー C,〜C12アルキル基、 〜 12アルコキシフエニル— C,〜CI 2アルキル基 、 〜じ^ァルキルフェニル—^〜じ^ァルキル基、 1—ナフチルー C,〜C12アル キル基、 2—ナフチルー C,〜CI 2アルキル基などが例示され、

アルコキシフ ェニル 2アルキル基、 ^〜じ^ァルキルフェニルー^〜じ ァルキル基が 好ましい。
ァリールォキシアルキル基は、 炭素数が通常?〜 60程度であり、 その具体例として は、 フエニルォキシ— C,〜C,2アルキル基、 じ,〜^ 2アルコキシフエニルォキシー C ,〜C,2アルキル基、 C,〜C,2アルキルフエニルォキシ— C,~C12アルキル基、 1一 ナフチルォキシー C ,〜 C , 2アルキル基、 2—ナフチルォキシー C ,〜 C , 2アルキル基な どが例示され、 C,~C12アルコキシフエニルォキシー C,〜C12アルキル基、 C,〜C, 2アルキルフエニルォキシー C,〜C, 2アルキル基が好ましい。
1価の複素環基とは、 複素環化合物から水素原子 1個を除いた残りの原子団をいう。 1価の複素環基は、 炭素数が通常 4~ 60程度であり、 具体的には、 チェニル基、 C, 〜C,2アルキルチェニル基、 ピロリル基、 フリル基、 ピリジル基、 〜じ^アルキル ピリジル基などが例示され、 チェニル基、 C,〜C,2アルキルチェニル基、 ピリジル基 、 2アルキルピリジル基が好ましい。
本発明の高分子化合物において、 前記式 (B) で示される構造からなる高分子化合物 の発光波長が前記式 (A) で示される構造からなる高分子化合物の発光波長よりも 30 nm以上長波長であることが、 発光効率の観点から好ましい。
式中、 X は一 C (=〇) 一、 一 S (=〇) 一、 一 S (=〇) 2—、 一 P (=0) (R !) 一、 一 C (Rx) (R2) ―、 一 C (R2) (R2) 一、 一 B (Rx) 一、 — N (R 一、 一 S i (Ri) (Rx) 一を表す。 これらの中では、 一 C (=〇) 一が好ましい。 こ こで、 は独立に、 水素原子;アルキル基、 ァリール基、 ァリールアルキル基、 ァリ —ルォキシアルキル基、 1価の複素環基等の 1価の基を示す。 R2は独立にヘテロ原子 を有する 1価の基 (具体的には、 アルコキシ基、 アルキルアミノ基、 アルキルチオ基、 アルキルォキシアルキル基、 アルキルアミノアルキル基、 アルキルチオアルキル基、 ァ リールォキシ基、 ァリールォキシアルキル基、 1個以上の水素原子がハロゲン原子で置 換されたアルキル基、 1価の複素環基などが挙げられる。 ) ' 前記式 (B) で示される構造の中では、 下記式 (1) で示される構造が好ましい。

前記式 (1 ) において、 Jおよび Kは、 それぞれ独立に 0から 3の整数を示す。 また 、 前記式 (1 ) で示される構造が、 前記式 (2 ) で示される構造となる場合には、 該式 ( 1 ) 中の Jおよび Kは 0から 3の整数を示し、 J 1および K 1は共に 1であり、 Zは 直接結合 (即ち、 結合手) を示す。 この場合、 前記式 (1 ) 中、 Jおよび Kは、 合成の 容易さからは、 0が好ましく、 溶解性、 発光効率等の観点から 、 ;!〜 3が好ましい。 前記式 (A) において、 A rは、 ァリーレン基、 2価の複素環基、 2価の芳香族アミ ン基若しくは金属錯体構造を有する 2価の基を表す。
ここに、 ァリーレン基とは、 芳香族炭化水素から、 水素原子 2個を除いた残りの原子 団であり、 炭素数は、 通常 6〜6 0程度である。 炭素数には置換基の炭素数は含まない 。 ここに芳香族炭化水素には縮合環をもつもの、 独立したベンゼン環または縮合環 2個 以上が直接又はビニレン等の基を介して結合したものも含まれる。
ァリ一レン基としては、 フエ二レン基 (例えば、 下図の式 1〜3 ) 、 ナフタレンジィ ル基 (下図の式 4〜 1 3 ) 、 アントラセニレン基 (下図の式 1 4〜 1 9 ) 、 ビフエニレ ン基 (下図の式 2 0〜2 5 ) 、 トリフエ二レン基 (下図の式 2 6〜2 8 ) 、 縮合環化合 物基 (下図の式 2 9〜3 8 ) 、 スチルベン一ジィル (下図 Aから D) 、 ジスチルベン一 ジィル (下図 E , F) 、 ベンゾフルオレン一ジィル (下図 G、 H、 I、 K) などが例示 される。
中でもフエ二レン基、 ビフエ二レン基、 フルオレン一ジィル基 (下図の式 3 6〜3 8 ) 、 スチルベン—ジィル (下図 Αから D) 、 ジスチルベン一ジィル (下図 E, F ) 、 ベン ゾフルオレン一ジィル (下図 G、 H、 I、 K) が好ましい。

式 (3) 及び (31) で示される繰り返し単位を含む高分子化合物の中で、 式 (3) および式 (3 1 ) で示される繰り返し単位の合計が全繰り返し単位の 5 0モル%以上で あるものが発光効率の観点からより好ましい。 かつ式 (3 ) および式 (3 1 ) で示され る繰り返し単位の合計に対して、 式 (3 ) で示される繰り返し単位が 0 . 1モル%以上 9 0モル%以下であるものが発光効率の観点からより好ましい。
本発明の高分子化合物は、 典型的には、 ポリスチレン換算の数平均分子量が 1 0 3〜 1 0 8であり、 2 X 1 0 3 ~ 1 0 7であることが好ましい。
また、 本発明の高分子化合物の末端基は、 重合活性基がそのまま残っていると、 素子 にしたときの発光特性や寿命が低下する可能性があるので、 安定な基で保護されていて もよい。 主鎖の共役構造と連続した共役結合を有しているものが好ましく、 また、 例え ば、 ビニレン基を介してァリール基または複素環基と結合している構造であっても良い 。 具体的には、 特開平 9— 4 5 4 7 8号公報の化 1 0に記載の g換基等が例示される。 なお、 本発明の高分子化合物は、 蛍光特性や電荷輸送特性を損なわない範囲で上記、 式 (3 ) 及び (3 1 ) で示される繰り返し単位以外の繰り返し単位を含んでいてもよい が、 実質的に式 (1) で示される繰り返し単位からなるもの、 実質的に式 (3 ) および ( 3 1 ) で示される繰り返し単位からなるものが好ましい。
繰り返し単位が、 ピニレンや非共役部分で連結されていてもよいし、 繰り返し単位に それらのビニレンゃ非共役部分が含まれていてもよい。 上記非共役部分を含む結合構造 としては、 以下に示すもの、 以下に示すものとビニレン基を組み合わせたもの、 および 以下に示すもののうち 2つ以上を組み合わせたものなどが例示される。 ここで、 Rは前 記のものと同じ置換基から選ばれる基であり、 A r ' は炭素数 6〜 6 0個の炭化水素基 を示す。 '

本発明の高分子化合物は、 ランダム、 ブロックまた c R Rは———— グラフト共重合体であってもよ いし、 それらの中間的な構造を有する高分子、 例えばブロック性を帯びたランダム共重 合体であってもよい。 蛍光の量子収率の高い高分子化合物を得る観点からは完全なラン ダム共重合体よりブロック性を帯びたランダム共重合体やプロックまたはグラフト共重 合体が好ましい。 主鎖に枝分かれがあり、 末端部が 3つ以上ある場合ゃデンドリマ一も 含まれる。
本発明の高分子化合物を高分子 L E Dの発光材料として用いる場合、 薄膜からの発光 やりん光を利用するので本発明の高分子化合物としては、 固体状態で蛍光またはりん光 を有するものが好ましい。
本発明の高分子化合物に対する良溶媒としては、 クロ口ホルム、 塩化メチレン、 ク ロロェタン、 テトラヒドロフラン、 トルエン、 キシレン、 メシチレン、 テトラリン、 デ カリン、 n—ブチルベンゼンなどが例示される。 高分子化合物の構造や分子量にもよる 力 通常はこれらの溶媒に 0 . 1重量%以上溶解させることができる。
次に、 本発明の高分子化合物の製造方法について説明する。
前記式 (2 ) で示される繰り返し単位を含む本発明の高分子化合物は、 例えば、 下記 式で示される化合物を原料の一つどして縮合重合することにより製造することができる

また、 本発明の高分子化合物の製造方法として、 例えば、 〔12〕 Suz uk iカツ プリング反応により重合する方法、 〔13〕 G r i gn a r d反応により重合する方法 、 〔14〕 N i (0) 触媒により重合する方法、 〔15〕 FeC 13等の酸化剤により 重合する方法、 電気化学的に酸化重合する方法、 あるいは 〔16〕 適当な脱離基を有す る中間体高分子の分解による方法などが例示される。
N 1 (0) 触媒を用いた反応としては、 ゼロ価ニッケル錯体 {N i (COD) 2} の 存在下、 重合する方法が例示される。
ゼロ価ニッケル錯体としては、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォク夕ジェン) ニッケル (0) 、 (エチレン) ビス (トリフエニルホスフィン) ニッケル (0) 、 テトラキス (トリフ ェニルホスフィン) ニッケルなどが例示され、 中でも、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォク夕ジ ェン) ニッケル (0) が、 汎用性で安価という観点で好ましい。
また、 中性配位子を添加することが、 収率向上の観点から好ましい。
ここに、 中性配位子とは、 ァニオンゃカチオンを有していない配位子であり、 2, 2 ' 一ビビリジル、 1, 10—フエナント口リン、 メチレンビスォキサゾリン、 N, N ' ーテトラメチルエチレンジァミン等の含窒素配位子; トリフエニルホスフィン、 トリト リルホスフィン、 トリブチルホスフィン、 トリフエノキシホスフィン等の第三ホスフィ ン配位子などが例示され、 汎用性、 安価の点で含窒素配位子が好ましく、 2, 2 ' —ビ ピリジルが高反応性、 高収率の点で特に好ましい。 特に、 重合体の収率向上の点から 、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォクタジェン) ニッケル (0 ) を含む系に中性配位子として 2 , 2 ' 一ビビリジルを加えた系が好ましい。
重合溶媒としては、 重合を阻害しないものであれば特に限定されないが、 例えば、 ァ ミド系溶媒、 芳香族炭化水素系溶媒、 エーテル系溶媒、 エステル系溶媒などが挙げられ る。
ここに、 アミド系溶媒としては、 例えば、 N, N—ジメチルホルムアミド、 N, N - ジメチルァセトアミド等が挙げられる。
芳香族炭化水素系溶媒としては、 芳香族炭化水素化合物からなる溶媒であり、 例えば 、 ベンゼン、 トルエン、 キシレン、 トリメチルベンゼン、 テトラメチルベンゼン、 プチ ルベンゼン、 ナフタリン、 テトラリン等が挙げられ、 トルエン、 キシレン、 テトラリン 、 テトラメチルベンゼンなどが好ましい。
また、 エーテル系溶媒としては、 酸素原子で炭化水素基が結合した化合物からなる溶 媒であり、 例えば、 ジイソプロピルエーテル、 テトラヒドロフラン、 1, 4ージォキサ ン、 ジフエニルエーテル、 エチレングリコールジメチルエーテル、 t e r tーブチルメ チルエーテル等が挙げられ、 高分子化合物に対する良溶媒である、 テトラヒドロフラン 、 1, 4—ジォキサンなどが好ましい。
また、 重合性、 溶解性を改良する観点から、 これら溶媒を混合して用いてもよい。 重合反応は、 通常アルゴン、 窒素等の不活性ガス雰囲気下、 行われる。
重合時間は、 通常 0 . 5〜1 0 0時間程度であるが、 製造コストの点から、 3 0時間 以内が好ましい。
重合温度は、 通常 0〜2 0 O t:程度であるが、 高収率、 低加熱費の点から、 0〜1 0 0でが好ましい。
P d触媒の存在下反応させる例としては、 例えば、 S u z u k iカツプリング反応が 挙げられる。
S u z u k iカップリング反応に用いられるパラジウム触媒としては、 酢酸パラジゥ ム、 パラジウム [テトラキス (トリフエニルホスフィン) ] 錯体、 ビス(トリシクロへ キシルホスフィン)パラジウム錯体などが例示される。
リン配位子としては、 トリフエニルホスフィン、 トリ (o—トリル) ホスフィン、 1 , 3—ビス (ジフエニルホスフイノ) プロパンなどが例示される。
例えば、 パラジウム [テトラキス (トリフエ.ニルホスフィン) ] を用い、 炭酸力リウ ム、 炭酸ナトリウム、 水酸化バリウム等の無機塩基、 トリェチルァミン等の有機塩基、 フッ化セシウムなどの無機塩をモノマーに対して当量以上、 好ましくは 1〜10当量加 えて反応させる。 無機塩を水溶液として、 2相系で反応させてもよい。 溶媒としては、
N、 N—ジメチルホルムアミド、 トルエン、 ジメトキシェタン、 テトラヒドロフラン などが例示される。 溶媒にもよるが 50〜160で程度の温度が好適に用いられる。 溶 媒の沸点近くまで昇温し、 還流させてもよい。 反応時間は 1時間から 200時間程度で ある。
これらのうち、 W i t t i g反応による重合、 He c k反応による重合、 Ho rn e r—Wad swo r t h— Emmo n s法による重合、 Knoevenage 1汉応 による重合、 および Suz uk iカップリング反応により重合する方法、 Gr i gna r d反応により重合する方法、 N i (0) 触媒により重合する方法が、 構造制御がしゃ すいので好ましい。 さらに、 N i (ひ) 触媒により重合する方法が原料の入手しやすさ と重合反応操作の簡便さからより好ましい。
本発明の高分子化合物を製造終了後、 必要に応じ、 酸洗浄、 アルカリ洗浄、 中和、 水 洗浄、 有機溶媒洗浄、 再沈殿、 遠心分離、 抽出、 カラムクロマトグラフィーなどの慣用 の分離操作、 精製操作、 乾燥その他の操作に供してもよい。
本発明の高分子化合物を高分子 LEDの発光材料として用いる場合、 その純度が発光 特性に影響を与えるため、 本発明の製造方法においては、 上記分離操作、 精製操作を十 分行い、 未反応モノマー、 副生成物、 触媒残渣などを十分除いておくことが好ましい。 乾燥の際には、 残存する溶媒が十分に除去される条件であればよい。 高分子化合物の 変質を防止するために、 不活性な雰囲気で遮光して乾燥することが好ましい。 また、 高 分子化合物が熱的に変質しない温度で乾燥することが好ましい。
本発明の高分子化合物は、 発光材料として用いることができる。 さらに、 電荷輸送性 材料、 有機半導体材料、 光学材料、 あるいはドーピングにより導電性材料として用いる こともできる。
本発明の高分子化合物を少なくとも 1種類と、 正孔輸送材料、 電子輸送材料及び発光 材料からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも 1種類の材料とを含有させることにより、 組成 物を調製することができる。 なお、 以下の説明において、 「高分子化合物」 とは、 組成 物を含む概念である。
本発明の高分子化合物は、 導電性薄膜、 有機半導体薄膜等の薄膜の製造にも有用であ る。 これらの薄膜は、 通常、 l nm〜l m、 好ましくは 2 nm〜 500 nmの厚さを 有する膜である。 また、 この有機半導体薄膜を用いることにより、 該有機半導体薄膜を 有する有機トランジスタを製造することが可能である。
次に、 本発明の高分子 LEDにづいて説明する。
本発明の高分子 LEDは、 陽樺および陰極からなる電極間に、.発光層を有し、 該発光 層が本発明の発光材料を含むことを特徴とする。
また、 本発明の高分子 LEDとしては、 陰極と発光層との間に、 電子輸送層を設けた 高分子 LED、 陽極と発光層との間に、 正孔輸送層を設けた高分子 LED、 陰極と発光 層との間に、 電子輸送層を設け、 かつ陽極と発光層との間に、 正孔輸送層を設けた高分 子 LED等が挙げられる。
本発明の高分子 LEDには少なくとも一方の電極と発光層との間に該電極に隣垮して 導電性高分子を含む層を設けた高分子 LED;少なくとも一方の電極と発光層との間に 該電極に隣接して膜厚 2 nm以下の絶縁層を設けた高分子 L E Dも含まれる。
例えば、 具体的には、 以下の a) 〜d) の構造が例示される。
a) 陽極 発光層/陰極
b) 陽極 正孔輸送層ノ発光層 陰極
c) 陽極 発光層 電子輸送層 陰極
d) 陽極 正孔輸送層 発光層ノ電子輸送層 陰極
(ここで、 Zは各層が隣接して積層されていることを示す。 以下同じ。 )
こヒで、 発光層とは、 発光する機能を有する層であり、 正孔輸送層とは、 正孔を輸送 する機能を有する層であり、 電子輸送層とは、 電子を輸送する機能を有する層である。 なお、 電子輸送層と正孔輸送層を総称して電荷輸送層と呼ぶ。 発光層、 正孔輸送層、 電 子輸送層は、 それぞれ独立に 2層以上用いてもよい。
また、 電極に隣接して設けた電荷輸送層のうち、 電極からの電荷注入効率を改善する 機能を有し、 素子の駆動電圧を下げる効果を有するものは、 特に電荷注入層 (正孔注入 層、 電子注入層) と一般に呼ばれることがある。
さらに電極との密着性向上や電極からの電荷注入の改善のために、 電極に隣接して前 記の電荷注入層又は膜厚 2 n m以下の絶緣層を設けてもよく、 また、 界面の密着性向上 や混合の防止等のために電荷輸送層や発光層の界面に薄いバッファ一層.を挿入してもよ い。
積層する層の順番や数、 および各層の厚さについては、 発光効率や素子寿命を勘案し て適宜用いることができる。
本発明において、 電荷注入層 (電子注入層、 正孔注入層) を設けた高分子 L E Dとし ては、 陰極に隣接して電荷注入層を設けた高分子 L E D、 陽極に隣接して電荷注入層を 設けた高分子 L E Dが挙げられる。
例えば、 具体的には、 以下の e)〜p) の構造が挙げられる。

上記電荷注入層が導電性高分子を含む層の場合、 該導電性高分子の電気伝導度は、 1 0"53 (:111以上103 SZ cm以下であることが好ましく、 発光画素間のリーク電流 を小さくするためには、 10— 5 SZcm以上 102 SZcm以下がより好ましく、 10- 5 SZ cm以上 101 S/ cm以下がさらに好ましい。
通常は該導電性高分子の電気伝導度を 10— 5 S c m以上 103 S c m以下とする ために、 該導電性高分子に適量のイオンをド一プする。
ド一プするイオンの種類は、 正孔注入層であればァニオン、 電子注入層であればカチ オンである。 ァニオンの例としては、 ポリスチレンスルホン酸イオン、 アルキルべンゼ ンスルホン酸イオン、 樟脳スルホン酸イオンなどが例示され、 カチオンの例としては、 リチウムイオン、 ナトリウムイオン、 カリウムイオン、 テトラプチルアンモニゥムィォ ンなどが例示される。
電荷注入層の膜厚としては、 例えば 1 nm~l 00 nmであり、 2nm〜50nmが 好ましい。
電荷注入層に用いる材料は、 電極や隣接する層の材料との関係で適宜選択すればよく 、 ポリア二リンおよびその誘導体、 ポリチォフェンおよびその誘導体、 ポリピロールお よびその誘導体、 ポリフエ二レンビニレンおよびその誘導体、 ポリチェ二レンビニレン およびその誘導体、 ポリキノリンおよびその誘導体、 ポリキノキサリンおよびその誘導 体、 芳香族ァミン構造を主鎖または側鎖に含む重合体などの導電性高分子、 金属フタ口 シァニン (銅フタロシアニンなど) 、 カーボンなどが例示される。
膜厚 2 nm以下の絶縁層は電荷注入を容易にする機能を有するものである。 上記絶縁 層の材料としては、 金属フッ化物、 金属酸化物、 有機絶縁材料等が挙げられる。 膜厚 2 nm以下の絶縁層を設けた高分子 LEDとしては、 陰極に隣接して膜厚 2 nm以下の絶 縁層を設けた高分子 LED、 陽極に隣接して膜厚 2 nm以下の絶縁層を設けた高分子 L EDが挙げられる。 具体的には、 例えば、 以下の c!)〜 ab) の構造が挙げられる。

本発明の高分子 L EDにおいては、 発光層に上記高分子化合物以外の発光材料を混合 して使用してもよい。 また、 本発明の高分子 LEDにおいては、 上記高分子化合物以外 の発光材料を含む発光層が、 上記高分子化合物を含む発光層と積層されていてもよい。 該発光材料としては、 公知のものが使用できる。 低分子化合物では、 例えば、 ナフタ レン誘導体、 アントラセンもしくはその誘導体、 ペリレンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリメ チン系、 キサンテン系、 クマリン系、 シァニン系などの色素類、 8—ヒドロキシキノリ ンもしくはその誘導体の金属錯体、 芳香族ァミン、 テトラフエニルシクロペン夕ジェン もしくはその誘導体、 またはテトラフェニルブタジエンもしくはその誘導体、 2—フエ ニルピリジンもしくはその誘導体の金属錯体、 ァセチルアセトンもしくはその誘導体の 金属錯体などを用いることができる。
具体的には、 例えば特開昭 57— 51781,、 同 59— 194393号公報に記載 されているもの等、 公知のものが使用可能である。
高分子 LED作製の際に、 本発明の高分子化合物を用いることにより、 溶液から成膜 する場合、 この溶液を塗布後乾燥により溶媒を除去するだけでよく、 また電荷輸送材料 や発光材料を混合した場合においても同様な手法が適用でき、 製造上非常に有利である 。 溶液からの成膜方法としては、 スピンコート法、 キャスティング法、 マイクログラビ ァコート法、 グラビアコート法、 バーコート法、 ロールコート法、 ワイア一バーコート 法、 ディップ —ト法、 スプレーコート法、 スクリーン印刷法、.フレキソ印刷法、 オフ セット印刷法、 インクジエツトプリント法等の塗布法を用いることができる。
インク組成物 (例えば、 印刷法等では溶液として用いられる) としては、 少なくとも 1種類の本発明の高分子ィヒ合物が含有されていればよい。
該インク組成物は、 本発明の高分子化合物以外に、 通常は溶媒を含み、 また正孔輸送 材料、 電子輸送材料、 発光材料、 安定剤、 粘度および/または表面張力を調節するため の添加剤、 酸化防止剤などの添加剤を含んでいてもよい。
該ィンク組成物中における本発明の高分子化合物の割合は、 溶媒を除いた該ィンク組 成物の全重量に対して通常は 20w t %~ 100w t %であり、 好ましくは 40 w t % 〜 10 Ow t %である。
またィンク組成物中の溶媒の割合は、 該ィンク組成物の全重量に対して 1 w t %〜 9 9. 9w t %であり、 好ましくは 6 Ow t %〜99. 9w t %であり、 さらに好ましく 90wt%〜99. 8wt%である。
該インク組成物の粘度は印刷法によって異なるが、 25 において 0. 5〜500m Pa · sの範囲が好ましく、 インクジェットプリント法などインク組成物が吐出装置を経 由するもの場合には、 吐出時の目づまりや飛行曲がりを防止するために粘度が 25でに おいて 0. 5〜2 OmP a · sの範囲であることが好ましい。
ィンク組成物に用いる溶媒としては、 本発明の高分子化合物を溶解または均一に分散 できるものが好ましい。 該溶媒としてクロ口ホルム、 塩ィ匕メチレン、 1 , 2—ジクロ口 ェタン、 1 , 1· , 2—トリクロロェタン、 クロ口ベンゼン、 o—ジクロ口ベンゼン等の 塩素系溶媒、 テトラヒドロフラン、 ジォキサン等のエーテル系溶媒、 トルエン、 キシレ ン、 トリメチルベンゼン、 メシチレン等の芳香族炭化水素系溶媒、 シクロへキサン、 メ チルシクロへキサン、 n—ペンタン、 n—へキサン、 n—ヘプ夕ン、 n—オクタン、 n —ノナン、 n—デカン等の脂肪族炭化水素系溶媒、 アセトン、 メチルェチルケトン、 シ クロへキサノン等のケトン系溶媒、 酢酸ェチル、 酢酸プチル、 メチルベンゾエー卜、 ェ チルセルソルブアセテート等のエステル系溶媒、 エチレングリコール、 エチレングリコ ールモノブチルェ一テル、 エチレングリコールモノェチルエーテル、 エチレングリコ一 ルモノメチルエーテル、 ジメトキシェタン、 プロピレングリコール、 ジエトキシメタン 、 トリエチレングリコールモノェチルエーテル、 グリセリン、 1 , 2—へキサンジォ一 ル等の多価アルコールおよびその誘導体、 メタノール、 エタノール、 プロパノール、 ィ ソプロパノール、 シクロへキサノール等のアルコール系溶媒、 ジメチルスルホキシド等 のスルホキシド系溶媒、 N—メチルー 2—ピロリドン、 N, N—ジメチルホルムアミド 等のアミド系溶媒が例示される。 また、 これらの有機溶媒は、 単独で、 または複数組み 合わせて用いることができる。 上記溶媒のうち、 ベンゼン環を少なくとも 1個以上含む 構造を有し、 かつ融点が 0で以下、 沸点が 1 0 0で以上である有機溶媒を 1種類以上含 むことが好ましい。
溶媒の種類としては、 本発明の高分子化合物の有機溶媒への溶解性、 成膜時の均一性 、 粘度特性等の観点から、 芳香族炭化水素系溶媒、 脂肪族炭化水素系溶媒、 エステル系 溶媒、 ケトン系溶媒が好ましく、 トルエン、 キシレン、 ェチルベンゼン、 ジェチルペン ゼン、 トリメチルベンゼン、 メシチレン、 n—プロピルベンゼン、 i 一プロピルべンゼ ン、 n—ブチルベンゼン、 i 一ブチルベンゼン、 s —ブチルベンゼン、 ァニソ一ル、 ェ トキシベンゼン、 1—メチルナフタレン、 シクロへキサン、 シクロへキサノン、 シクロ へキシルベンゼン、 ビシクロへキシル、 シクロへキセニルシクロへキサノン、 n—ヘプ チルシクロへキサン、 n—へキシルシクロへキサン、 メチルベンゾエート、 2—プロピ ルシクロへキサノン、 2—ヘプ夕ノン、 3—ヘプ夕ノン、 4—ヘプ夕ノン、 2—ォクタ ノン、 2—ノナノン、 2—デカノン、 ジシクロへキシルケトンが好ましく、 キシレン、 ァニソール、 メシチレン、 シクロへキシルベンゼン、 ビシクロへキシルメチルベンゾェ —トのうち少なくとも 1種類を含むことがより好ましい。
本発明のィンク組成物が含むことができる添加剤のなかで、 正孔輸送材料としては、 ポリビニルカルバゾ一ルもしくはその誘導体、 ポリシランもしくはその誘導体、 側鎖も しくは主鎖に芳香族ァミンを有するポリシロキサン誘導体、 ピラゾリン誘導体、 ァリ一 ルァミン誘導体、 スチルベン誘導体、 トリフエ二ルジァミン誘導体、 ポリア二リンもし くはその誘導体、 ポリチォフェンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリピロールもしくはその誘導 体、 ポリ (p—フエ二レンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体、 またはポリ (2 , 5—チェ 二レンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体があげられる。
電子輸送材料としては、 ォキサジァゾ一ル誘導体、 アントラキノジメタンもしくはそ の誘導体、 ベンゾキノンもしくはその誘導体、 ナフトキノンもしくはその誘導体、 アン トラキノンもしくはその誘導体、 テトラシァノアンスラキノジメタンもしくはその誘導 体、 フルォレノン誘導体、 ジフエニルジシァノエチレンもしくはその誘導体、 ジフエノ キノン誘導体、 または 8—ヒドロキシキノリンもしくはその誘導体の金属錯体、 ポリキ ノリンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリキノキサリンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリフルオレンも しくはその誘導体があげられる。
発光材料としては、 ナフタレン誘導体、 アントラセンもしくはその誘導体、 ペリレン もしくはその誘導体、 ポリメチン系、 キサンテン系、 クマリン系、 シァニン系などの色 素類、 8—ヒドロキシキノリンもしくはその誘導体の金属錯体、 芳香族ァミン、 テトラ フエニルシクロペン夕ジェンもしくはその誘導体、 またはテトラフェニルブタジエンも しくはその誘導体などがあげられる。
安定剤としては、 フエノール系酸化防止剤、 リン系酸化防止剤などがあげられる。 粘度および/または表面張力を調節するための添加剤としては、 粘度を高めるための 高分子量の高分子化合物 (増粘剤) や貧溶媒、 粘度を下げるための低分子量の化合物、 表面張力を下げるための界面活性剤などを適宜組み合わせて使用すれば良い。
前記の高分子量の高分子化合物としては、 本発明の高分子化合物と同じ溶媒に可溶性 で、 発光や電荷輸送を阻害しないものであれば良い。 例えば、 高分子量のポリスチレン 、 ポリメチルメタクリレート、 あるいは本発明の高分子化合物のうち分子量が大きいも のなどを用いることができる。 重量平均分子量が 5 0万以上が好ましく、 1 0 0万以上 がより好ましい。 貧溶媒を増粘剤として用いることもできる。 すなわち、 溶液中の固形 分に対する貧溶媒を少量添加することで、 粘度を高めることができる。 この目的で貧溶 媒を添加する場合、 溶液中の固形分が析出しない範囲で、 溶媒の種類と添加量を選択す れば良い。 保存時の安定性も考慮すると、 貧溶媒の量は、 溶液全体に対して 5 0 w t % 以下であることが好ましく、 3 0 w t %以下であることが更に好ましい。
酸化防止剤としては、 本発明の高分子化合物と同じ溶媒に可溶性で、 発光や電荷輸送 を阻害しないものであれば良く、 フエノール系酸化防止剤、 リン系酸化防止剤などが例 示される。 酸化防止剤を用いることにより、 本発明の高分子化合物、 溶媒の保存安定性 を改善し得る。
本発明の高分子化合物の溶媒への溶解性の観点から、 溶媒の溶解度パラメ一夕と、 高 分子化合物の溶解度パラメータとの差が 1 0以下であることが好ましく、 7以下である ことがより好ましい。
溶媒の溶解度パラメ一ターと本発明の高分子化合物の溶解度パラメ一ターは、 「溶剤 ハンドブック (講談社刊、 1 9 7 6年) 」 に記載の方法で求めることができる。
ィンク組成物に含まれる本発明の高分子化合物は、 1種類でも 2種類以上でもよく、 素子特性等を損なわない範囲で本発明の高分子化合物以外の高分子化合物を含んでいて もよい。
発光層の膜厚としては、 用いる材料によって最適値が異なり、 駆動電圧と発光効率が 適度な値となるように選択すればよいが、 例えば 1 n mから 1 mであり、 好ましくは 2 n m〜5 0 0 n mであり、 さらに好ましくは 5 n m〜2 0 0 n mである。
本発明の高分子 L E Dが正孔輸送層を有する場合、 使用される正孔輸送材料としては 、 ポリビニルカルバゾ一ルもしくはその誘導体、 ポリシランもしくはその誘導体、 側鎖 もしくは主鎖に芳香族ァミンを有するポリシロキサン誘導体、 ピラゾリン誘導体、 ァリ ールァミン誘導体、 スチルベン誘導体、 トリフエ二ルジァミン誘導体、 ポリア二リンも しくはその誘導体、 ポリチォフェンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリピロ一ルもしくはその誘 導体、 ポリ (p—フエ二レンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体、 またはポリ (2 , 5—チ ェニレンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体などが例示される。 具体的には、 該正孔輸送材料として、 特開昭 6 3— 7 0 2 5 7号公報、 同 6 3— 1 7 5 8 6 0号公報、 特開平 2— 1 3 5 3 5 9号公報、 同 2— 1 3 5 3 6 1号公報、 同 2— 2 0 9 9 8 8号公報、 同 3— 3 7 9 9 2号公報、 同 3— 1 5 2 1 8 4号公報に記載され ているもの等が例示される。
これらの中で、 正孔輸送層に用いる正孔輸送材料として、 ポリビニルカルバゾ一ルも しくはその誘導体、 ポリシランもしくはその誘導体、 側鎖もしくは主鎖に芳香族ァミン 化合物基を有するポリシロキサン誘導体、 ポリア二リンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリチォ フェンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリ (p—フエ二レンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体、 ま たはポリ (2 , 5—チェ二レンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体等の高分子正孔輸送材料 が好ましく、 さらに好ましくはポリビニルカルバゾールもしくはその誘導体、 ポリシラ ンもしくはその誘導体、 側鎖もしくは主鎖に芳香族ァミンを有するポリシロキサン誘導 体である。 低分子の正孔輸送材料の場合には、 高分子バインダーに分散させて用いるこ とが好ましい。
ポリピニルカルバゾールもしくはその誘導体は、 例えばビニルモノマーからカチオン 重合またはラジカル重合によって得られる。
ポリシランもしくはその誘導体としては、 ケミカル 'レビュー (C h e m. R e v . ) 第 8 9巻、 1 3 5 9頁 (1 9 8 9年) 、 英国特許 G B 2 3 0 0 1 9 6号公開明細書に 記載の化合物等が例示される。 合成方法もこれらに記載の方法を用いることができるが 、 特にキッピング法が好適に用いられる。
ポリシロキサンもしくはその誘導体は、 シロキサン骨格構造には正孔輸送性がほとん どないので、 側鎖または主鎖に上記低分子正孔輸送材料の構造を有するものが好適に用 いられる。 特に正孔輸送性の芳香族ァミンを側鎖または主鎖に有するものが例示される 正孔輸送層の成膜の方法に制限はないが、 低分子正孔輸送材料では、 高分子バインダ 一との混合溶液からの成膜による方法が例示される。 また、 高分子正孔輸送材料では、 溶液からの成膜による方法が例示される。
溶液からの成膜に用いる溶媒としては、 正孔輸送材料を溶解させるものであれば特に 制限はない。 該溶媒として、 クロ口ホルム、 塩ィヒメチレン、 ジクロロェタン等の塩素系 溶媒、 テトラヒドロフラン等のエーテル系溶媒、 トルエン、 キシレン等の芳香族炭化水 素系溶媒、 アセトン、 メチルェチルケトン等のケトン系溶媒、 酢酸ェチル、 酢酸ブチル 、 ェチルセルソルプアセテート等のエステル系溶媒が例示される。
溶液からの成膜方法としては、 溶液からのスピンコート法、 キャスティング法、 マイ クログラビアコート法、 グラビアコート法、 バーコート法、 ロールコート法、 ワイア一 バーコート法、 ディップコート法、 スプレーコート法、 スクリーン印刷法、 フレキソ印 刷法、 オフセット印刷法、 インクジェットプリント法等の塗布法を用いることができる 混合する高分子バインダ一としては、 電荷輸送を極度に阻害しないものが好ましく、 また可視光に対する吸収が強くないものが好適に用いられる。 該高分子バインダーとし て、 ポリカーボネート、 ポリアクリレート、 ポリメチルァクリレート、 ポリメチルメタ クリレート、 ポリスチレン、 ポリ塩化ビニル、 ポリシロキサン等が例示される。
正孔輸送層の膜厚としては、 用いる材料によって最適値が異なり、 駆動電圧と発光効 率が適度な値となるように選択すればよいが、 少なくともピンホールが発生しないよう な厚さが必要であり、 あまり厚いと、 素子の駆動電圧が高くなり好ましくない。 従って 、 該正孔輸送層の膜厚としては、 例えば 1 n mから 1 z mであり、 好ましくは 2 η π!〜 5 0 0 nmであり、 さらに好ましくは 5 n m〜 2 0 0 n mである。
本発明の高分子 L E Dが電子輸送層を有する場合、 使用される電子輸送材料としては 公知のものが使用でき、 ォキサジァゾ一ル誘導体、 アントラキノジメタンもしくはその 誘導体、 ベンゾキノンもしくはその誘導体、 ナフトキノンもしくはその誘導体、 アント ラキノンもしくはその誘導体、 テトラシァノアンスラキノジメタンもしくはその誘 体 、 フルォレノン誘導体、 ジフエニルジシァノエチレンもしくはその誘導体、 ジフエノキ ノン誘導体、 または 8—ヒドロキシキノリンもしくはその誘導体の金属錯体、 ポリキノ リンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリキノキサリンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリフルオレンもし くはその誘導体等が例示される。

これらのうち、 ォキサジァゾ一ル誘導体、 ベンゾキノンもしくはその誘導体、 アント ラキノンもしくはその誘導体、 または 8—ヒドロキシキノリンもしくはその誘導体の金 属錯体、 ポリキノリンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリキノキサリンもしくはその誘導体、 ポ リフルオレンもしくはその誘導体が好ましく、 2— (4—ビフエ二リル) — 5— ( 4 - t 一ブチルフエニル) 一 1, 3 , 4—ォキサジァゾール、 ベンゾキノン、 アントラキノ ン、 トリス (8—キノリノール) アルミニウム、 ポリキノリンがさらに好ましい。 電子輸送層の成膜法としては特に制限はないが、 低分子電子輸送材料では、 粉末から の真空蒸着法、 または溶液もしくは溶融状態からの成膜による方法が、 高分子電子輸送 材料では溶液または溶融状態からの成膜による方法がそれぞれ例示される。 溶液または 溶融状態からの成膜時には、 高分子バインダーを併用してもよい。
溶液からの成膜に用いる溶媒としては、 電子輸送材料および Zまたは高分子バインダ 一を溶解させるものであれば特に制限はない。 該溶媒として、 クロ口ホルム、 塩化メチ レン、 ジクロロェタン等の塩素系溶媒、 テトラヒドロフラン等のエーテル系溶媒、 トル ェン、 キシレン等の芳香族炭化水素系溶媒、 アセトン、 メチルェチルケトン等のケトン 系溶媒、 酢酸ェチル、 酢酸プチル、 ェチルセルソルブアセテート等のエステル系溶媒が 例示される。
溶液または溶融状態からの成膜方法としては、 スピンコート法、 キャスティング法、 マイクログラビアコート法、 グラビアコート法、 バーコ一ト法、 ロールコート法、 ワイ ァ一バーコ一ト法、 ディップコート法、 スプレーコート法、 スクリーン印刷法、 フレキ ソ印刷法、 オフセット印刷法、 インクジェットプリント法等の塗布法を用いることがで さる。
混合する高分子バインダーとしては、 電荷輸送を極度に阻害しないものが好ましく、 また、 可視光に対する吸収が強くないものが好適に用いられる。 該髙分子バインダーと して、 ポリ (N—ビニルカルバゾ一ル) 、 ポリア二リンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリチォ フェンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリ (p—フエ二レンピニレン) もしくはその誘導体、 ポ リ (2, 5—チェ二レンビニレン) もしくはその誘導体、 ポリ力一ポネート、 ポリアク リレー卜、 ポリメチルァクリレート、 ポリメチルメタクリレート、 ポリスチレン、 ポリ 塩化ビニル、 またはポリシロキサンなどが例示される。
電子輸送層の膜厚としては、 用いる材料によって最適値が異なり、 駆動電圧と発光効 率が適度な値となるように選択すればよいが、 少なくともピンホールが発生しないよう な厚さが必要であり、 あまり厚いと、 素子の駆動電圧が高くなり好ましくない。 従って 、 該電子輸送層の膜厚としては、 例えば 1 n mから 1 mであり、 好ましくは 2 nm〜 5 0 0 n mであり、 さらに好ましくは 5 n m〜 2 0 0 n mである。
本発明の高分子 L E Dを形成する基板は、 電極を形成し、 有機物の層を形成する際に 変化しないものであればよく、 例えばガラス、 プラスチック、 高分子フィルム、 シリコ ン基板などが例示される。 不透明な基板の場合には、 反対の電極が透明または半透明で あることが好ましい。
本発明において、 陽極および陰極からなる電極の少なくとも一方が透明または半透明 であり、 陽極側が透明または半透明であることが好ましい。
該陽極の材料としては、 導電性の金属酸化物膜、 半透明の金属薄膜等が用いられる。 具体的には、 酸化インジウム、 酸化亜鉛、 酸化スズ、 およびそれらの複合体であるイン ジゥム ·スズ ·ォキサイド ( I T O) 、 ィンジゥム ·亜鉛 ·ォキサイド等からなる導電 性ガラスを用いて作成された膜 (N E S.Aなど) や、 金、 白金、 銀、 銅等が用いられ、 I T O, インジウム ·亜鉛 ·オキサイド、 酸化スズが好ましい。 作製方法としては、 真 空蒸着法、 スパッタリング法、 イオンプレーティング法、 メツキ法等が挙げられる。 ま た、 該陽極として、 ポリア二リンもしくはその誘導体、 ポリチォフェンもしくはその誘 導体などの有機の透明導電膜を用いてもよい。
陽極の膜厚は、 光の透過性と電気伝導度とを考慮して、 適宜選択することができるが 、 例えば 1 0 n mから 1 0 mであり、 好ましくは 2 0 η π!〜 1 mであり、 さらに好 ましくは 5 0 nm〜5 0 0 n mである。
また、 陽極上に、 電荷注入を容易にするために、 フタロシアニン誘導体、 導電性高分 子、 カーボンなどからなる層、 あるいは金属酸化物や金属フッ化物、 有機絶縁材料等か らなる平均膜厚 2 n m以下の層を設けてもよい。
本発明の高分子 L E Dで用いる陰極の材料としては、 仕事関数の小さい材料が好まし レ^ 例えば、 リチウム、 ナトリウム、 カリウム、 ルビジウム、 セシウム、 ベリリウム、 マグネシウム、 カルシウム、 ストロンチウム、 バリウム、 アルミニウム、 スカンジウム 、 バナジウム、 亜鉛、 イットリウム、 インジウム、 セリウム、 サマリウム、 ユーロピウ ム、 テルビウム、 イッテルビウムなどの金属、 およびそれらのうち 2つ以上の合金、 あ るいはそれらのうち 1つ以上と、 金、 銀、 白金、 銅、 マンガン、 チタン、 コバルト、 二 ッケル、 タングステン、 錫のうち 1つ以上との合金、 グラフアイトまたはグラフアイト 層間化合物等が用いられる。 合金の例としては、 マグネシウム一銀合金、 マグネシウム 一インジウム合金、 マグネシウム一アルミニウム合金、 インジウム—銀合金、 リチウム —アルミニウム合金、 リチウム—マグネシウム合金、 リチウム一インジウム合金、 カル シゥム一アルミニウム合金などが挙げられる。 陰極を 2層以上の積層構造としてもよい 。
陰極の膜厚は、 電気伝導度や耐久性を考慮して、 適宜選択することができるが、 例え ば 1 0 n mから 1 0 / mであり、 好ましくは 2 0 n m~ l mであり、 さらに好ましく は 5 0 n m~ 5 0 0 n mである。
陰極の作製方法としては、 真空蒸着法、 スパッタリング法、 また金属薄膜を熱圧着す るラミネート法等が用いられる。 また、 陰極と有機物層との間に、 導電性高分子からな る層、 あるいは金属酸化物や金属フッ化物、 有機絶縁材料等からなる平均膜厚 2 n m以 下の層を設けてもよく、 陰極作製後、 該高分子 L E Dを保護する保護層を装着していて もよい。 該高分子 L E Dを長期安定的に用いるためには、 素子を外部から保護するため に、 保護層および Zまたは保護カバーを装着することが好ましい。
該保護層としては、 高分子化合物、' 金属酸化物、 金属フッ化物、 金属ホウ化物などを 用いることができる。 また、 保護カバ一としては、 ガラス板、 表面に低透水率処理を施 したプラスチック板などを用いることができ、 該カバーを熱効果樹脂や光硬化樹脂で素 子基板と貼り合わせて密閉する方法が好適に用いられる。 スぺーサ一を用いて空間を維 持すれば、 素子がキズつくのを防ぐことが容易である。 該空間に窒素やアルゴンのよう な不活性なガスを封入すれば、 陰極の酸化を防止することができ、 さらに酸化バリウム 等の乾燥剤を該空間内に設置することにより製造工程で吸着した水分が素子にタメ一ジ を与えるのを抑制することが容易となる。 これらのうち、 いずれか 1つ以上の方策をと ることが好ましい。 また、 陽極および陰極からなる電極間に、 電荷輸送層と発光層とを有し、 該電荷輸送 層が本発明の高分子化合物を含む高分子 L E Dも可能である。
本発明の高分子発光素子は、 面状光源、 セグメント表示装置、 ドットマトリックス表 示装置、 液晶表示装置のバックライ卜として用いることができる。
本発明の高分子 L E Dを用いて面状の発光を得るためには、 面状の陽極と陰極が重な り合うように配置すればよい。 また、 パターン状の発光を得るためには、 前記面状の発 光素子の表面にパターン状の窓を設けたマスクを設置する方法、 非発光部の有機物層を 極端に厚く形成し実質的に非発光とする方法、 陽極または陰極のいずれか一方、 または 両方の電極をパターン状に形成する方法がある。 これらのいずれかの方法でパターンを 形 figし、 いくつかの電極を独立に O n /O F Fできるように配置することにより、 数字 や文字、 簡単な記号などを表示できるセグメントタイプの表示素子が得られる。 更に、 ドットマトリックス素子とするためには、 陽極と陰極をともにストライプ状に形成して 直交するように配置すればよい。 複数の種類の発光色の異なる発光材料を塗り分ける方 法や、 カラーフィルタ一または蛍光変換フィルターを用いる方法により、 部分カラ一表 示、 マルチカラ一表示が可能となる。 ドットマトリックス素子は、 パッシブ駆動も可能 であるし、 T F Tなどと組み合わせてアクティブ駆動してもよい。 これらの表示素子は 、 コンピュータ、 テレビ、 携帯端末、 携帯電話、 力一ナビゲ一シヨン、 ビデオカメラの ビューファインダ一などの表示装置として用いることができる。
さらに、 前記面状の発光素子は、 自発光薄型であり、 液晶表示装置のバックライト用 の面状光源、 あるいは面状の照明用光源として好適に用いることができる。 また、 フレ キシブルな基板を用いれば、 曲面状の光源や表示装置としても使用できる。 以下、 本発明をさらに詳細に説明するために実施例を示すが、 本発明はこれらに限定 されるものではない。
ここで、 数平均分子量、 重量平均分子量については、 テトラヒドロフランを溶媒とし て、 ゲルパ一ミエーシヨンクロマトグラフィー (G P C ) によりポリスチレン換算の数 平均分子量、 重量平均分子量を求めた。

化合物 D
不活性雰囲気下、 300m 1三つ口フラスコに 1 -ナフタレンボロン酸 5. 00 g ( 29mmo 1) 、 2—ブロモベンズアルデヒド 6. 46 g (35mmo 1) 、 炭酸カリ ゥム 10.0 g (73mmo 1 ) 、 トルエン 36 m 1、 イオン交換水 36 m 1を入れ、 室温で撹拌しつつ 20分間アルゴンバブリングした。 続いてテトラキス (トリフエニル ホスフィン) パラジウム 16. 8mg (0.15mmo 1 ) を入れ、 さらに室温で撹拌 しつつ 10分間アルゴンパブリングした。 10 O に昇温し、 25時間反応させた。 室 温まで冷却後、 トルエンで有機層を抽出、 硫酸ナトリウムで乾燥後、 溶媒を留去した。 トルエン:シクロへキサン =1 : 2混合溶媒を展開溶媒としたシリカゲルカラムで生成 することにより、 化合物 D5.18g (収率 86%) を白色結晶として得た。

化合物 E
不活性雰囲気下で 300m 1の三つ口フラスコに化合物 D 8. 00 g (34.4m mo 1 ) と脱水 THF46m 1を入れ、 一 78でまで冷却した。 続いて n—ォクチルマ グネシゥムブロミド (1. Omo 1Z 1 THF溶液) 52 m 1を 30分かけて滴下した 。 滴下終了後 Otまで昇温し、 1時間撹拌後、 室温まで昇温して 45分間撹拌した。 氷 浴して 1N塩酸 2 Omlを加えて反応を終了させ、 酢酸ェチルで有機層を抽出、 硫酸ナ トリウムで乾燥した。 溶媒を留去した後トルエン:へキサン =10 : 1混合溶媒を展開 溶媒とするシリカゲルカラムで精製することにより、 化合物 E7. 64 g (収率 64% ) を淡黄色のオイルとして得た。 HP LC測定では 2本のピークが見られたが、 LC一 MS測定では同一の質量数であることから、 異性体の混合物であると判断した。

不活性雰囲気下、 500ml三つ口フラスコに化合物 E (異性体の混合物) 5.00 g (14.4mmo 1 ) と脱水ジクロロメタン 74m 1を入れ、 室温で撹拌、 溶解させ た。 続いて、 三フッ化ホウ素のエーテラ一ト錯体を室温で 1時間かけて滴下し、 .滴下終 了後室温で 4時間撹拌した。 撹拌しながらエタノール 125m 1をゆっくりと加え、 発 熱がおさまったらクロ口ホルムで有機層を抽出、 2回水洗し、 硫酸マグネシウムで乾燥 した。 溶媒を留去後、 へキサンを展開溶媒とするシリカゲルカラムで精製することによ り、 化合物 F3. 22 g (収率 68%) を無色のオイルとして得た。

不活性雰囲気下 200ml三つ口フラスコにイオン交換水 2 Omlをいれ、 撹拌しな がら水酸化ナトリウム 18. 9 g (0.47mo 1 ) を少量ずつ加え、 溶解させた。 水 溶液が室温まで冷却した後、 'トルエン 2 Oml、 化合物 F 5.17 g (15.7mmo 1 ) 、 臭化トリプチルアンモニゥム 1. 52 g (4.72mmo 1 ) を加え、 50でに昇 温した。 臭化 n—才クチルを滴下し、 滴下終了後 50でで 9時間反応させた。 反応終了 後トルエンで有機層を抽出し、 2回水洗し、 硫酸ナトリウムで乾燥した。 へキサン 展 開溶媒とするシリカゲルカラムで精製することにより、 化合物 G5. 13 g (収率 74 %) を黄色のオイルとして得た。

空気雰囲気下、 50m 1の三つ口フラスコに化合物 G4. 00 g (9. 08mmo 1 ) と酢酸:ジクロロメタン = 1 : 1混合溶媒 57m 1を入れ、 室温で撹拌、 溶解させた 。 続いて三臭化べンジルトリメチルアンモニゥム 7. 79 g (20. Ommo 1 ) を加 えて撹拌しつつ、 塩化亜鉛を三臭ィ匕べンジルトリメチルアンモニゥムが完溶するまで加 えた。 室温で 20時間撹拌後、 5 %亜硫酸水素ナトリゥム水溶液 10mlを加えて反応 を停止し、 クロ口ホルムで有機層を抽出、 炭酸カリウム水溶液で 2回洗浄し、 硫酸ナト リウムで乾燥した。 へキサンを展開溶媒とするフラッシュカラムで 2回精製した後、 ェ 夕ノール:へキサン =1 : 1、 続いて 10 : 1混合溶媒で再結晶することにより、 化合 物 H4. 13 g (収率 76%) を白色結晶として得た。

単量体 (1) 0. 07 gと単量体 (2) 0. 81 gと 2, 2 '—ビビリジル 0. 63 gとを反応容器に仕込んだ後、 反応系内を窒素ガスで置換した。 これに、 あらかじめァ ルゴンガスでパブリングして、 脱気したテトラヒドロフラン (脱水溶媒) 50 gを加え た。 次に、 この混合溶液に、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォクタジェン) ニッケル (0) {Ni (COD) 2} 1. lgを加え、 室温で約 10分間攪拌した後、 昇温し、 60でで 3時間反応 した。 なお、 反応は窒素雰囲気中で行った。
この反応液を冷却した後、 エタノール 40ml イオン交換水 40m 1混合溶液を加 え、 約 1時間攪拌した。 この溶液を室温で一夜静置した後、 生成した沈殿をろ過するこ とにより、 回収した。 次に、 この沈殿を減圧乾燥した後、 トルエンに溶解した。 このト ルェン溶液をろ過することにより、 不溶物を除去した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 1 規定の塩酸で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルェ ン溶液を、 約 3%アンモニア水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した 。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 イオン交換水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液して、 トルエン 溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液をメタノール中に注ぎ込み、 再沈精製した。 生成した沈殿を回収し、 エタノールで洗浄した後、 これを減圧乾燥して、 重合体 0. 1 3 gを得た。 得られた重合体を高分子化合物 1と呼ぶ。

<高分子化合物 2の合成 >
単量体 (1) 0. 07 gと N, N' 一 (4 - t e r t . ブチル一2, 6—ジメチルフ ェニル) 一 N, N, 一 (4一ブロモフエニル) ー1, 4—フエ二レンジァミン 1. 0 g と 2, 2 '—ビピリジル 0. 63 gとを反応容器に仕込んだ後、 反応系内を窒素ガスで 置換した。 これに、 あらかじめアルゴンガスでパブリングして、 脱気したテトラヒドロ フラン (脱水溶媒) 50 gを加えた。 次に、 この混合溶液に、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォ クタジェン) ニッケル (0) {Ni(C0D)2} 1. l gを加え、 室温で約 10分間攪拌した 後、 昇温して、 6 Ot:で 3時間反応した。 なお、 反応は窒素雰囲気中で行った。
この反応液を冷却した後、 メタノール 4 OmlZイオン交換水 40ml混合溶液を加 え、 約 1時間攪拌した。 この溶液を室温で一夜静置した後、 生成した沈殿をろ過するこ とにより、 回収した。 次に、 この沈殿を減圧乾燥した後、 トルエンに溶解した。 このト ルェン溶液をろ過することにより、 不溶物を除去した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 ァ ルミナを充填したカラムを通過させることにより精製した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を 、 1規定の塩酸で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このト ルェン溶液を、 約 3%アンモニア水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収 した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 イオン交換水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液して、 トル ェン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液をメタノール中に注ぎ込み、 再沈精製し た。 生成した沈殿を回収し、 エタノールで洗浄した後、 これを減圧乾燥して、 重合体 0 . 14 gを得た。 得られた重合体を高分子化合物 2と呼ぶ。

実施例 3
<高分子化合物 3の合成 >
単量体 (1) 0. 035 gと単量体 (2) 0. 90 gと 2, 2 '—ビビリジル 0. 6 3 gとを反応容器に仕込んだ後、 反応系内を窒素ガスで置換した。 これに、 あらかじめ アルゴンガスでパブリングして、 脱気したテトラヒドロフラン (脱水溶媒) 60 gを加 えた。 次に、 この混合溶液に、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォクタジェン) ニッケル (0) { Ni(C0D)2} 1. lgを加え、 室温で約 10分間攪袢した後、 昇温し、 60でで 3時間反 応した。 なお、 反応は窒素雰囲気中で行った。
この反応液を冷却した後、 メタノール 5 OmlZイオン交換水 5 Oml混合溶液を加 え、 約 1時間攪拌した。 この溶液を室温で一夜静置した後、 生成した沈殿をろ過するこ とにより、 回収した。 次に、 この沈殿を減圧乾燥した後、 トルエンに溶解した。 このト ルェン溶液をろ過することにより、 不溶物を除去した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 1 規定の塩酸で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルェ ン溶液を、 約 3%アンモニア水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した 。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 イオン交換水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液して、 トルエン 溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液をメタノール中に注ぎ込み、 再沈精製した。 生成した沈殿を回収し、 エタノールで洗浄した後、 これを減圧乾燥して、 重合体 0. 3 gを得た。 得られた重合体を高分子化合物 3と呼ぶ。

9 gとブロモ一9, 9ージイソペンチルフルオレン 0. 125 gと 2, 2 ' ― ビビリ ジル 0. 63 gとを反応容器に仕込んだ後、 反応系内を窒素ガスで置換した。 これ 、 あらかじめアルゴンガスでバブリングして、 脱気したテトラヒドロフラン (脱水溶媒) 60 gを加えた。 次に、 この混合溶液に、 ビス (1, 5—シクロォクタジェン) ニッケ ル (0) を 1. l g加え、 室温で 10分間攪拌した後、 60でで 3時間反応した。 なお
、 反応は、 窒素ガス雰囲気中で行った。
反応後、 この溶液を冷却した後、 この溶液に、 メタノール 5 OmlZイオン交換水 5
Om 1混合溶媒をそそぎ込み、 約 1時間攪拌した。 次に、 生成した沈殿をろ過により、 回収した。 この沈殿をメタノールで洗浄した後、 減圧乾燥した。 次に、 この沈殿をトル ェンに溶解した。 このトルエン溶液を濾過し、 不溶物を除去した後、 このトルエン溶液 を、 1規定塩酸で洗浄した。 静置、 分液した後、 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 約 3%の アンモニア水で洗浄した。 静置、 分液した後、 次に、 このトルエン溶液をイオン交換水 で洗浄した。 静置、 分液して、 精製したトルエン溶液を得た。 次に、 このトルエン溶液 を、 メタノール中にそそぎ込み、 再沈精製した。 得られた沈殿を減圧乾燥して、 重合体 0. 18 gを得た。 この重合体を、 高分子化合物 4と呼ぶ。
この高分子化合物 4のポリスチレン換算数平均分子量は、 9. 8x l 04であり、 重 量平均分子量は、 5. 7x l 05であった。
仕込みから推定される高分子化合物 4に含まれる繰り返し単位の構造を下記に示す。

<吸収スぺクトル、 蛍光スぺクトルの測定 >
高分子化合物 1から 4は、 クロ口ホルムに溶解させることができた。 その 0. 2%ク ロロホルム溶液を用いて、 石英板上にスピンコートして高分子化合物の薄膜を作成した 。 この薄膜の蛍光スペクトルを J AS CO FP— 6500 s p e c t r o f 1 u o r ome t e rで測定した。 高分子化合物 1 ~4の蛍光ピーク波長を表 1に示した。 [表 1]

<素子の作成および評価 >
スパッ夕法により 150 nmの厚みで I TO膜を付けたガラス基板上に、 ポリ (3, 4) エチレンジォキシチォフェン Zポリスチレンスルホン酸 (バイエル社、 Bay t r onP A I 4083) の懸濁液を 0. 2 /xmメンブランフィルターで濾過した液を用 いて、 スピンコートにより 70 nmの厚みで薄膜を形成し、 ホットプレート上 20 Ot: で 10分間乾燥した。 次に、 高分子化合物 4の 1. 5w t %トルエン溶液を用いてスピ ンコートにより 120 nmの厚みで成膜した。 さらに、 これを減圧下 80でで 1時間乾 燥した後、 フッ化リチウムを約 4 nm蒸着した後、 陰極として、 カルシウムを約 5 nm 、 次いで、 アルミニウムを約 70 nm蒸着して、 高分子 LEDを作製した。 なお、 真空 度が 1 X 10— 4 P a以下に到達した後に、 金属の蒸着を開始した。
得られた素子に電圧を印加することにより、 この素子から、 500nmにピークを有 する EL発光が得られた。 100 c dZm2における C. I. E. 色座標値は、 x = 0 . 23、 y = 0. 49であり、 発光色は青緑色であった。 なお、 EL発光の強度は、.電 流密度にほぼ比例していた。 また、 該素子は、 9. IVから発光開始が見られ、 最大発 光効率は、 0. 26 c dZAであった。 合成例 2 〈単量体 (3) の合成〉

化合物 (A) 9. 0gとキナクリドン 1. 25 gとべンジルトリェチルアンモニゥム クロライド 0. 91 gとを 1, 2—ジクロ口ベンゼン 70 gに溶解した。 この溶液に、 40%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液 60 gを加え、 激しく攪拌、 110でで、 25時間反応 した。 なお、 反応は、 窒素雰囲気中でおこなった。
反応後、 この反応溶液を冷却した。 静置したところ、 分液したので、 1, 2—ジクロ 口ベンゼン溶液を、 分液により回収した。 この 2—ジクロ口ベンゼン溶液にトルェ ンを加えた後、 この溶液を、 水洗した。 水洗後、 分液により油層を回収し、 静置したと ころ、 沈殿が生成した。 次に、 この溶液をろ過して、 生成した沈殿を回収した。
次に、 この沈殿を、 エタノールで洗浄し、 減圧乾燥した後、 クロ口ホルムに溶解した 。 この溶液を、 ろ過して、 不溶物を除去した後、 アルミナを充填したカラムを用いて、 精製した。
得られた溶液を、 メタノール中に注ぎ込み、 再沈精製した。 次に、 生成した沈殿を、 ろ過操作により回収した。 この沈殿を、 減圧乾燥して、 単量体 (3) を l O Omg得た Ή-NMR (30 OMHz/CDC 13) :

単量体 (3) 15mgと単量体 (2) 720mgと 2, 2' —ビビリジル 0. 53 g とをテトラヒドロフラン (脱水) 5 O gに溶解した後、 窒素ガスでパブリングして、 系 内を窒素ガス置換した。 この溶液に、 ビス (1., 5—シクロォクタジェン) ニッケル ( 0) {Ni(C0D)2} 0. 94 gを加え、 室温で約 10分間攪拌した後、 昇温し、 60でで 3時間反応した。 なお、 反応は窒素雰囲気中で行った。
この反応液を冷却した後、 メタノール 40m 1ノイオン交換水 4 Oml混合溶液を加 え、 約 1時間攪拌した。 次に、 生成した沈殿をろ過することにより、 回収した。 次に、 この沈殿を減圧乾燥した後、 トルエンに溶解した。 このトルエン溶液をろ過することに より、 不溶物を除去した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 アルミナを充填したカラムを通 過させることにより精製した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 1規定の塩酸で洗浄した後 、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液を、 約 3%アンモ ニァ水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液してトルエン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルエン溶 液を、 イオン交換水で洗浄した後、 静置、 分液して、 トルエン溶液を回収した。 次に、 このトルエン溶液をメタノール中に注ぎ込み、 再沈精製した。 生成した沈殿を回収し、 エタノールで洗浄した後、 この沈殿を減圧乾燥して、 重合体 0. 16 gを得た。 得られ た重合体を高分子化合物 (5) と呼ぶ。
該髙分子化合物 (5) のポリスチレン換算の数平均分子量は、 5. 2 X 1 04であり 、 重量平均分子量は 2. 3 X 1 05であった。 仕込みから推定される高分子化合物 (5 ) に含まれる繰り返し単位の構造を下記に示す。

<高分子化合物 (6) の合成 >
単量体 (3) を除いた他は、 実施例 7と同様にして、 重合体を得た。 得られた重合体 を高分子化合物 (6) と呼ぶ。
該高分子化合物 (6) のポリスチレン換算の数平均分子量は、 8. 2X 104であり 、 重量平均分子量は 2. 5X 105であった。 仕込みから推定される高分子化合物 (6 ) に含まれる繰り返し単位の構造を下記に示す。

実施例 8
<吸収スぺクトル、 蛍光スぺクトルの測定〉
高分子化合物 (5) 、 (6) は、 トルエンに容易に溶解させることができた。 その 0 . 8%トルエン溶液を石英板上にスピンコートして重合体の薄膜を作成した。 この薄膜 の蛍光スペクトルを J ASCO FP- 6500 s pe c t r o f l uo r ome t e rで測定した。
高分子化合物 (5) の蛍光ピーク波長は、 524 nmであり、 高分子化合物 (6) の 蛍光ピーク波長は、 450 nmであった。 実施例 9
<素子の作成および評価 >
スパッタ法により 150 nmの厚みで I TO膜を付けたガラス基板上に、 ポリ (3, 4) エチレンジォキシチォフェン Zポリスチレンスルホン酸 (バイエル社、 Bay t r onP A I 4083) の懸濁液を 0. 2 zmメンブランフィルタ一で濾過した液を用 いて、 スピンコートにより 70 nmの厚みで薄膜を形成し、 ホットプレート上 200で で 10分間乾燥した。 次に、 高分子化合物 (5) の 1. 5w t %トルエン溶液を用いて スピンコートにより 75 nmの厚みで成膜した。 さらに、 これを減圧下 80でで 1時間 乾燥した後、 フッ化リチウムを約 4 nm蒸着した後、 陰極として、 カルシウムを約 5 n m、 次いで、 アルミニウムを約 80 nm蒸着して、 高分子 LEDを作製した。 なお、 真 空度が 1 X 10— 4 P a以下に到達した後に、 金属の蒸着を開始した。
得られた素子に電圧を印加することにより、 この素子から、 525nmにピークを有 する EL発光が得られた。 100 c dZm2における C. I. E. 色座標値は、 x = 0 . 35、 y = 0. 59であり、 発光色は緑色であった。 なお、 EL発光の強度は、 電流 密度にほぼ比例していた。 また、 該素子は、 5. 6 Vから発光開始が見られ、 最大発光 効率は、 0. 91 c d Aであった。 比較例 2
<素子の作成および評価 >
高分子化合物 (5) の代わりに、 高分子化合物 (6) を用いた他は、 実施例 9と同様 にして EL素子を作成した。
得られた素子に電圧を印加することにより、 この素子から、 460nmにピークを有 する EL発光が得られた。 100 c dZm2における C. I. E. 色座標値は、 x = 0 . 15、 y = 0. 16であり、 発光色は青色であった。 なお、 EL発光の強度は、 電流 密度にほぼ比例していた。 また、 該素子は、 3. 6 Vから発光開始が見られ、 最大発光 効率は、 0. 4c dZAであった。 産業上の利用可能性
本発明の高分子化合物は、 発光材料として有用である。 該高分子化合物を用いた高分 子発光素子は高性能であり、 バックライトとしての面状光源, フラットパネルディスプ レイ等の装置として使用できる。

Claims

請求の範囲
1. 下記式 (A) で示される繰り返し単位を 1種類以上有する高分子化合物であって 、 さらに下記式 (B) で示される構造を含むことを特徴とする高分子化合物。

2. 請求項 1記載の高分子化合物であって、 前記式 (B) で示される構造からなる髙 分子化合物の発光波長が前記式 (A) で示される構造からなる高分子化合物の発光波長 よりも 30 nm以上長波長であることを特徴とする高分子化合物。
3. 下記式 (1) で示される構造を有することを特徴とする請求項 1又は 2記載 0高 分子化合物。

4. 下記式 (2) で示される繰り返し単位を含むことを特徴とする請求項 3記載の高 分子化合物。

9. 前記式 (3) で示される繰り返し単位からなる高分子化合物であって、 Π ιおよ び η 2がともに 0であることを特徵とする高分子化合物。
10. ポリスチレン換算の数平均分子量が 103〜108である請求項 1〜9のいずれか 一項に記載の高分子化合物。
1 1 . 正孔輸送材料、 電子輸送材料及び発光材料からなる群から選ばれる少なくとも 1 種類の材料と請求項 1〜 1 0のいずれか一項に記載の高分子化合物の少なくとも 1種類 とを含有することを特徴とする組成物。
1 2 . 請求項 1〜 1 0のいずれか一項に記載の高分子化合物もしくは請求項 1 1記載の 組成物を含有することを特徴とするインク組成物。
1 3 . 請求項 1〜1 0のいずれか一項に記載の高分子化合物もしくは請求項 1 1記載の 組成物を含有することを特徴とする薄膜。
1 4 . 請求項 1〜 1 0のいずれか一項の記載の高分子化合物もしくは請求項 1 1記載の 組成物を含有する導電性薄膜。
1 5 . 請求項 1 ~ 1 0のいずれか一項の記載の高分子ィヒ合物もレくは請求項 1 1記載の 組成物を含有する有機半導体薄膜。
1 6 . 請求項 1 5に記載の有機半導体薄膜を有することを特徴とする有機トランジスタ
1 7 . 陽極及び陰極からなる電極間に、 請求項 1 ~ 1 0のいずれか一項に記載の高分子 化合物又は請求項 1 1に記載の組成物を含む有機層を有することを特徴とする高分子発 光素子。
1 8 . 前記有機層が発光層である請求項 1 7記載の高分子発光素子。
1 9 . 前記発光層がさらに正孔輸送材料、 電子輸送材料又は発光材料を含む請求項 1 8 記載の高分子発光素子。
2 0 . 陽極及び陰極からなる電極間に、 発光層と電荷輸送層とを有し、 該電荷輸送層が 請求項 1〜 1 0のいずれか一項に記載の高分子化合物又は請求項 1 1に記載の組成物を 含む請求項 1 7記載の高分子発光素子。
2 1 . 陽極及び陰極からなる電極間に、 発光層と電荷輸送層とを有し、 該電荷輸送層と 電極との間に電荷注入層を有し、 該電荷注入層が請求項 1〜1 0のいずれか一項に記載 の高分子化合物又は請求項 1 1に記載の組生物を含む請求項 1 7記載の高分子発光素子
2 2 . 請求項 1 7〜2 1のいずれか一項に記載の高分子発光素子を用いたことを特徴と する面状光源。
23. 請求項 17〜21のいずれか一項に記載の高分子発光素子を用いたことを特徴と するセグメント表示装置。
24. 請求項 17~21のいずれか一項に記載の高分子発光素子を用いたことを特徴と するドットマトリックス表示装置。
25. 請求項 17~21のいずれか一項に記載の高分子発光素子をバックライトとする ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
